Initially customer service gave me some trouble due to mistaken identity, however the (frustrating) problem was resolved. I must say that I enjoy the simplicity of Mercari. It is a more streamlined method of buying and selling than Ebay.
Mercari allows false advertising from sellers. Seller advertised a good, fully functional phone. It is in poor condition. Charging port is damaged, volume control doesn't work, discharges quickly. BUYER BEWARE!
I use to sell at other platforms and I have sold over 1000 items and I am a five star seller. If YOU the buyer are not sue about a description just ask. Most sellers will post more pictures, do YOUR due diligence and ASK! If the

Beware before you buy! This site and its Customer service completely favor the seller. I purchased an item that was not as described at all, so I wanted to return it. Left a message for the seller who completely ignored me. Contacted customer service, and once they finally got back to me, they informed me that I was outside the three day period and I couldn't return the the lying seller's item that I had been sent! I was outside the three days because no one got back to me in time! So I was nice, tried to give the seller the opportunity to fix things, and I got screwed over by her and their so called customer service. Now I'm stuck with a expensive bag I'll never use. As far as I'm concerned, mecari is far inferior to eBay in every way. I would NEVER recommend them to anyone!

I purchased a pair of boots described as "like new", upon receiving I tried them on and the faux leather started crumbling and started to disintegrate. I immediately followed return policy and took photos and requested a return. The return was denied stating I didn't file within 24 hours, actually FedEx delivered Friday morning April 29th and requested the return at 2:00pm that day. Please see photos below.

I tried to purchase a phone from a few sellers and was directed away from the site in order to complete the purchase. Total scam! I did not complete any of the transactions. Also, I noticed that all of the sellers that I encountered were very young, which made me a bit Leary. Don't take a chance with your money. Too many red flags.

Ordered a Gucci beanie. Seller minimized photo's to be deceptive, stated it was unisex. The beanie measures almost 12 x 12. It slid down my whole face, who has a head that is a foot big? Terrible site, says it has a buyer protection warranty. It has nothing... BUYER BEWARE!

Tried to buy a pair of shoes. Seller couldn't find one of them. WTH? Selling only one shoe? Mercari blocks you from contacting them or the seller, or from leaving a review if an order is cancelled or messed up, so I blocked them. 1st & last time I'll shop there.

They favor dishonest buyers who lie about the condition they receive a product in and then return items in a worse condition. They will not ever side with a seller, even when the seller provides photo evidence of a buyer being dishonest. Do not waste your time shopping/selling on Mercari.

Was sent a broken guitar and when I asked the seller Sally Mac for assistance she replied with vulgar threats even hinting she would shoot me. Stay clear of this company. They wouldn't even respond and when I canceled payment because know one would respond they lock u out. Horrible company.

I have only tried to buy from Mercari once, and sadly it will be my last. I was so excited to find a rare treasure on this website, only to never receive it. The seller had 3 days to ship the item, so after 5 days I attempted contacting the seller and Mercari to no avail. Is this an actual legitimate website?

I bought an item an Apple product that was listed by the seller as new. Upon receipt, I determined this item was not new, as the security seal placed by Apple was missing. In addition, the item did not perform to specs. With Mercari, you are not allow to contact the seller after purchase. I then used Mercari's return center online. A short time later I received a reply that Mercari will not oversee the return of the defective and fraudulently listed item, and I just need to tough it. CSR wished me luck the next time I purchase an item on Mercari. Of course, there will be no next time in face of Mercari's protecting unethical and fraudulent sellers. One should avoid Mercari at all costs.

If I could give a review of 0, I would! I purchased a product from this website and received the item in extremely poor condition. It was a Christmas present for my son. I immediately wrapped the box when I received it and when my son opened the box the item had been used and was sticky. This was sold as a collectible not a toy. I contacted customer service several times with no resolution, at least to my satisfaction. I am stuck with a $90 "toy". Mercari didn't even attempt to back the item sold on their website. I am thoroughly disgusted that there was not attempt to help me out and obtain the item I actually purchased.

I ordered a women's shwinn hybrid bike. Waited over a week for it to be shipped. We were on a planned trip when arrived so could not rate. Once we saw product it was a men's mountain bike NOT even a shwinn! Mercari would not support this problem. We now have a bike that's useless. Box was also partially opened. BAD seller- Awful company paid 324$ for this bad delivery

This app is worst ever! I purchased a Louis Vuitton Wallet cost 180 dollars. I was so excited that I bought it that price it was listed authentic and since it was my first purchase I never thought it was a fake which I found out after 30 minute. I contacted to return but they said I cannot return because I confirm already. I contacted the seller but he block me. Oh my i contacted then my bank to help but they needed a certificate to prove it is fake. I drove 3 hours with my 1 year old child to find a store To certify it is fake but I find none. So that's it I paid 180 for a fake Louis vuitton wallet They never consider I am new and naive in using their app!.

I thought this was going to be a great app. I happened to be very disappointed. I have sold multiple items and the app is not paying me my money. Once I added my bank account information my account became disabled. The account says give 24-48 hours to review. It has been over a week and I have called and sent multiple emails. I only received one replay that said this is a billing issue give then a day to get this fixed. Now I still have not heard anything and it's almost 2 weeks now.

I've been on this app for probably 8 years and never had any issues, sold a lot, bought some stuff, and then I was sent a fake broken pair of Oakley glasses. They said I could ship the item back and get my money back so I did that within the week, but never got my money, I waited and waited and they let me know I will never get my money back! Because I apparently didn't send them back immediately, I now lost all my $110+, and the seller has their fake glasses back, and they get no repercussions for selling me something fake. Support basically laughed at me and told me to go somewhere else! Love the support for making them money all these years!

Mercari is the absolute worst marketplace for sellers you can find. Buyers can cancel items after you drop them in the mail; there is no notification and no recourse! Buyers can receive your goods for free and Mercari does absolutely nothing to assist. If you are selling, do not ever use MERCARI!

They are horrible st customer service! They kick you off for no reason! I was kicked off because I had a fraud alert on my America Express card & I called in & they wanted to verify that I was authorizing the charge. Not a second later I get a noticed that Mercari is revolking my account! I have heard they have done this to several people. Take your business to Poshmark... GREAT APP

I recently contacted a seller about an item I was interested in. We agreed on a price and they made me a personal listing, so I could purchase it. However, they raised the price on the one they made for me (by around 3 USD). I politely said that it was too much and could only do what we agreed on. The transaction was just completed today. I gave a good evaluation because overall there were no issues. The seller, however, gave a bad one with no explanation as to why. They then proceeded to delete the conversation on the listing and when I asked why they would give such an evaluation they ignored me. I contacted Mercari, but was told they would side with the seller. Why? Because the seller is ignoring me, gave no reason for the bad evaluation on the good transaction, and deleted all the messages that show I'm telling the truth.

I've been using my account for 2 years with no issues, but just recently I started getting messages saying my info was wrong and the money I've made could not be transferred to my account. I tried contacting Mercari, but they said they only work with US accounts and to send an email to the Japanese office. When I asked what the Japanese email was (because I couldn't find it) they provided me with one. However, the email they provided me with doesn't exist. I voiced my complaint and was told I would be banned for doing so. Banned for getting upset that I was being led to believe I would finally have someone to help me. Wouldn't you get upset if a company gave you a fake email to contact their staff at? I'm not the only one right?
Also, they obviously don't read what you send them. My first email stated my account was Japanese and it wasn't until their third reply that they basically said ''Oh. We don't deal with those accounts" I also got a message on the app today saying the money I've been trying to transfer will be taken away from me in March if I don't transfer it this month. This was the first time I have ever gotten such a message. I need that money for personal reasons. It being taken away will mean I sold my stuff for nothing.
It used to be good, but now it's just one big scam. Don't use this app to sell things because you might get ripped off too. Also, be careful because they might try to ban you if you get upset with their shady practices. They finally said to just try contacting Japanese staff on Facebook. However, the Japanese Facebook hasn't been updated in almost a year and the Japanese Twitter has messaging disabled, so that isn't an option.
(small update)Heard from the Japanese Facebook (kind of surprised they answered). They said they don't deal with inquiries and to just look at the Q&A on the app for answers to any questions or problems. Told them that I had tried everything already. The Q&A, US staff, and so on. (The Q&A was literally the first thing I went to.) But like the US staff, they don't care. They don't care about what issues you may have. They don't want to help whatsoever.
I do not recommend this app to anybody. I'm pretty much screwed at this point. And Mercari, if you read this, don't go giving me that ''apology'' you give others on here. And don't bother suggesting I contact *******@mercari.com. The people who run that email are the reason why I'm voicing my disgust on this site in the first place. If you actually care about your buyers and sellers then do something helpful.

I have used this site for a long time, you can only rate the seller when the item has been received. In my situation the seller choose to cancel my transaction due to a mistake on "shipping options". When I tried to contact the seller, I was expecting her to give me options for me to buy, instead she gave a terrible response "Well don't buy from me again" (and blocked me). There is no way to document this to warn other buyers, since the transaction was cancelled. BEWARE of BrisiLinda!

I sold some items and tried to make a purchase on Mercari using my earnings, my mercari balance. I can't because apparently California residents can't use their Mercari balance for some reason. It makes no sense to me. I hope I'm not being ripped off.

I like selling on Mercari. The site itself is good, safe and I always get paid in a timely manner. But when things go wrong, then the trouble begins. Whenever I list a high end product, they suspend my account stating I have violated their rules, but they don't say which rules or why. I list authentic items, always. I violate no rules. They usually reinstate my account within 24 hours or less and sometimes they restore the listings and sometimes they don't. When I write to them, it takes a day or so for a response, and the response never responds the actual issues in my emails. It is very irritating. I appreciate they are trying to run a safe site, but given sellers selling is how they make money, they ought to treat sellers with more respect. I would sell so much more on their site but I only list about 25% of my products on Mercari because I don't want to hassle with them. It's ashame.

I have over 100 transactions on Mercari buying and selling and have never had an issue. The site is easy to use and you won't have an issue if you follow their rules which are in place to make the app a pleasant shopping platform

Where do I start... simply put, they ripped off a 13 year old girl and then tortured her to keep sending more pictures of her defective item. Then they released her money to a fraudulent seller and told her she didn't comply with all their requests. DO NOT use this company. BUYER BEWARE
