Initially customer service gave me some trouble due to mistaken identity, however the (frustrating) problem was resolved. I must say that I enjoy the simplicity of Mercari. It is a more streamlined method of buying and selling than Ebay.
Mercari allows false advertising from sellers. Seller advertised a good, fully functional phone. It is in poor condition. Charging port is damaged, volume control doesn't work, discharges quickly. BUYER BEWARE!

They have falsely accused me of something I have not done. They will suspend your account without telling you about the problem and will keep your funds (if you are a seller). When I try to contact them, they will hit me with the same answer. Do not use this app if you don't want to be scammed.

I have been selling on eBay and Etsy since the 90's. Since I have been selling on Macari, my items receive much more traffic than the other sites and I often sell the same day I list. The shipping is also much less than other sites so I can offer my items for less and the fees are less than half of ebay.
Macari also will not let you rate a buyer until they rate you, so feedback builds up fast. Thanks Macari, you seem to have it all figured out!

This is the most terrible selling company in the world. They ban you for no reason, they won't talk to you, they just take all of your listings down and kick you out. They are very strict and watch your account like a hawk. Please don't waste your time, they ban you for the dumbest reasons,,, just sell on Etsy or eBay, They are better platforms and wayyyyyy less of a headache. Trust me, Mercari does not want to see you be great.

On Mercari if a seller decides not to ship an item for weeks to the buyer there is no justice for the buyer, but a refund. The buyer is not allowed to inform other potential buyers the seller will not answer messages and not ship the item. This is not good business practice. On EBay you can give a negative rating for a seller that ghosts and does not ship an item (and receive your refund). Other than this bad policy Mercari is a good place to buy.

I used this site to sell items. I won't use it anymore, I sold an item and the picture clearly showed no damage to the item even the picture the buyer sent shows no damage yet they fix it where you the seller can't respond to buyer after it's delivered and hearing you the seller defense is merely ignored

Yeah, they allow fake bags if the seller has many sold items.
I saw so many fake bags but if the sellers has sold tons of items, those fake bags are allowed until they are sold. If you are new, tough luck. Stick with Poshmark or Ebay.

I was selling a Forever21 Active Legging and I listed it as Forever21 Active Legging and they took my item down saying it was fraudulent and not an authentic item wtf. I gonna try to ask customer service for help, but based on what others are saying, I'm kind of worried to send something in right now, and worried that they read these reviews, but will never care as long as they're making money. Shame on them.

Their customer service is garbage. They don't care about their users. I had a purchase go missing (either misdelivered or stolen), and the customer service rep refused to refund my original payment, like they do on other apps like Poshmark, Amazon, eBay... BASICALLY, ALL OF THEM. They forced me to accept "Mercari credits" I didn't want, as if it were my fault someone took my package. Their greed is appalling. I used to do a lot of selling on Mercari, but I refuse to do it anymore. I now sell only on Poshmark or eBay. Mercari doesn't deserve my business.

This is my second review of MERCARI. I received completely different items than I ordered. After finally receiving my order 2 weeks later, they weren't even the correct items! The seller didn't disclose the full name of the yarn, and it was NOT the same item. The website insists you submit six photos of the items. I submitted 9 photos of one wrong color and 7 of the other. It was clear proof they were completely different items than what I ordered. After supporters immediately denied it, I canceled my credit card and shared this fact. And the next day, they came back asking me for even more photos even though I had sent more than they required. I hope this review saves others from wasting their precious time and money. It would be easier to just flush it down the toilet.

First of all why should they be able to tell me how often I should mark down my items. Then if one person likes your item and you offer it to them you can't offer to anyone else for 3 days. Why? Then a seller requested that I cancel her order, but if I cancel the order it goes against my selling privileges. So I sent the order to her then she gave me a nasty review but kept the item. I contacted them and told them what happened and they said unless she requested they change the review they wouldn't. She said I shipped too slow, she bought Saturday night and I shipped Monday morning, she said the item was dirty, it was brand new in package and had no dirt, but they won't fox the review. It's a horrible site! Poshmark isn't great but I highly prefer it over Mercari any day. Plus it takes up to a week for them to deposit your money in the bank after it's in your Mercari account. Poshmark is 2 days!

Fraudulent
I purchased a dress that was misrepresented and was told that I would get a refund if I sent the dress back by prepaid label. I did so in the time required and the seller relisted the dress with a picture of a different colored dress. Same as before. And, still no refund a week later with all kinds of excuses as to why.

Check this out. I have over 200 positive perfect ratings. I sell 18k plated jewelry. Because I sell "Cuban" link jewelry, Mercari notified me that it was considered counterfeit because of the name "Cuban".
I am looking to file a class action lawsuit against this Japanese scumbag of a company. They have over $500.00 in my account that they deny me access to now.
If anyone else wants to join this class action lawsuit, please send me a message. They are a highly illegally operated company. This can't be legal at all.

I used Mercari to sell my Barbie dolls and other collectable dolls. I sold all of them but one buyer opened one of my Brand New, Unopened Barbie dolls and detached the head from the neck when trying to pull it out of the box. The buyer returned it blaming me for sending a defective doll. I sent Mercari pictures of the opened and ripped box to compare with my listing pictures showing the box wasn't opened nor ripped. Mercari took the buyer's side leaving me with a damaged doll that I can't sell now.
Compare the picture of the doll I sent with the picture of the one with broken neck.

They banned my account for no reason! This company is horrible! I've sold lots of things and customers are asking me for email because their stupid app wouldn't take their payment. Next thing I know, they deactivated my account. I will spread this everywhere! This company needs to be shut down. Awful

I made a deal with the seller. I paid, got a confirmation, and about a half hour later, I got a cancellation notice. I tried contacting the seller and it told me that I can't contact the seller by any means. I can even ask why. WTH!

I order a Brand New Pair of Shoes from a seller and I opened the box and looked at them the first day. On the 4th day I decided to wear them and the shoes fell apart! I can't get a refund. I wore them for 1 hour and walked around with them at work and almost fell because the entire wedge came off and the top of the shoe. I only left 1 star because 0 wasn't an option. Purchased a pair of sandals and after two weeks of No status updates I reached out to customer service. They told me they would "reach out" to the seller. Weeks went by, and after a month a messaged again to only receive the same response. I finally canceled my order and after went to leave a review for the seller to only find out that she had canceled/closed her Mercari account 7 months prior. Now if I could find that out, why couldn't this company who hosts individuals find that out and inform me to cancel, or just not allow the purchase to happen from the beginning. So, I canceled my order and the amount that was returned to me was a fraction of the purchase. I again emailed customer service and have yet to receive a reply regarding an explanation as to why my full amount wasn't refunded. It just seems like they don't know what they're doing like children are running this company.

They are suppose to offer 200 insurance if something is broken in transit and they don't. They always side with the buyer, and say the seller didnt pack well enough. Even when you provide pictures that you did and stuff happens out of your control. That is what the 200 is for right? Apparently not. You can report them to the BBB, they dont care. It is really a bad company.

I sold an item and told the buyer I would be sending it late. They acknowledge the fact and then canceled the order the day it should have been delivered. When I contacted the company they said they allowed the buyer to cancel because I sent my item late. I am out of money and my item and the company doesn't care.

I purchased an item and the seller lied about the weight of the item. I let the Mercari know about the issue and asked for a return. A member from escalation team from Mercari contacted me and asked to wait for the return shipping label. I waited for more than a day and emailed back to Mercari. The same person from the team told me to wait for another 24 hours and I will receive it soon. I waited for two days and suddenly I got a message from Mercari that the money was released to the buyer and Mercari left a feedback to the seller. How can they do that? Can I trust them anymore?

I contacted Mercari promptly about not receiving the item o bought even though tracking shows it was delivered Mercari closed the transaction and took my money basically stole my money and told me because tracking shows it was delivered there is nothing they can do for me they puff a lot of nothing saying that the buyer can purchase with assurance but it's all just a bunch of puffing Mercari is a bunch of thieves and scammers
