Nightmare customer service, inability to respond through email have to use their site. Then close case keep funds because they say you didn't respond. Awful way to do business!

I sold a dress. FedEx lost the package so I reached out to the buyer and we decided to wait a week. I contacted FedEx and tried to file a claim but since Mercari created the shipping label I couldn't file the claim.
I tried to contact Mercari support and they wouldn't help. So I contacted the buyer and we cancelled the sale. The next day FedEx found the package and shipped it. I contacted Mercari and they still wouldn't help and I could couldn't contact the buyer.
Huge cluster f*ck. Stay away from them.
Was sold GPS item as NEW. Item arrived well used and with addresses and destinations programmed into it already. Mercari sent emails very late in the day and offered me a very short time to respond and return the item and the requested that i do NOT rate the seller!. And then took away the link to rate the seller. So the seller gets away with defrauding the buyer with the help of MERCARI
Buyer return Item, Not in factory seald box
I recently sold an item on Mercari. I sent the buyer an item in a factory sealed box. The buyer requested to return it and Mercari authorized the return. We I received the item, it was no longer in the factory box. I reported the sate of the item to Mercari and they stated that the customer returned the item in the condition that they received it. I had sold similar items on Mercari and ask Mercari to verify with previous buyers the condition of the item that they received. I also sent Mercari pictures of similar items that I have listed, in their factory boxes. Mercari gave me no proof of the condition that the customer received it and just closed the case in the buyers favor. When I asked how I could protect my myself from this situation in the future, Mercari did not respond. Poor customer service
I tried to purchase Maclaren Twin stroller on Mercari from user "wally27". I negotiated the price and the seller confirmed the purchase. The seller shipped my order but canceled it within one day because "barcode does not scan". The seller also blocked my account so I cannot buy or message him. But the stroller was still available for purchase. So I used my husband account to try to buy it, this time for full price. The seller canceled the second order within few minutes and blocked my other account too. I am already talking to Mercari to cancel the "wally27" account and any other accounts associated with this person*home address.

Because Mercari is unable to guarantee a seller will ship a purchased item, we allow them to cancel transactions if they have troubles sending it off (so buyers can be reimbursed as quickly as possible). Sometimes this also means that sellers aren't completely honest in their reasons, but we do watch and penalize accounts should they have a large number of unwarranted cancellations. Last night I purchased a Jurassic World Irritator. I paid way too much for it but was thrilled that my grandson would have it in time for his birthday. I paid immediately through paypal. This morning upon checking my email I realized that the seller canceled my order. When I asked why it was canceled the response was, " I have never purchased anything through MERCARI before so, of course, my order was canceled." Seriously? My money is not as good as those that have shopped on MERCARI before. That kind of thinking from MERCARI sellers guarantees that they won't be able to build their business. I checked the seller's sales, albiet after my sale was cancelled, and discovered he/she frequently cancels orders. That pretty much guarantees there will never be new customers. Not a smart business practice. I know I won't be shopping there again.
Would not recommend selling on this app/site. The hidden fees are outrageous. I made a sale for $32 and only earned $12. Ridiculous. Do not use Mercari.
I purchased 2 items from 1 seller. I only received 1 of the items i purchased. The seller said they sent the other item separately. I never received the other item even after numerous emails from the seller with empty promises. Never received a refund or my other item. This particular seller changed their store name after they stole my money. Stay away from blurtee/Onestopshop on mercari. Con artists.

Purchased a Samsung s22 ultra $600. Item is in pending status with FedEx since August 28tg phone was purchased on the 26th of August. I've been back and forth with Mercari stating that far past the date of delivery and I received a message that I can request a cancellation on Sept 2nd. Made the request and I hat a message to rate buyer so they can get paid. The item is still in pending status FedEx website and I have not received the cellphone that I paid $600 for. Mercari is procrastinating going against their own policy and will not refund my account. This is a horrible situation and this Seller has 0 sales/ buys. No ratings. I'm primarily a seller with almost 400 ratings. Never had 1 bad transaction and all my transactions were great.
This company assists ppl with selling their goods. It's no pick up, ship only. As you're dealing with individuals there can always be varying degrees of satisfaction but I've made at least 40 to 50 purchases and only had an issue with 1 seller selling my items that I won to another buyer and 1 seller angry with me as I left her a somewhat negative review(that was warranted, it was fair and true and she didn't like it). Sellers can either offer you free shipping or add the price onto your purchase price. You can make offers on their listed prices, it's up to them whether they accept or not, or give you a counter offer. I've gotten some AMAZING deals on things. Usually the items are in very good condition and a lot of times, new. Most sellers I've dealt with have been great! Of course you get a bad apple every now and then but that is with any situation where you deal with people. I really love this site and highly recommend it. I've never sold anything yet, only been a buyer. However I've dealt with repeat sellers so they must like it too!
