I would give it 5 stars, but they added seller fees on top of paying taxes. A $9 item would earn you $3. Seems so unfair. But other than that, my items sell fast and I have made quite a bit selling on here.

“Bought a Nike hoop backpack. Seller never shipped the item”

This seller is a fraud. Do not buy from him you'll never get your item. I bought a backpack on Dec 13th. 5 days later I messaged seller and he replied that his printer broke and he would go to his office the next day to print a label and try his hardest to ship item that evening. A few days later I messaged him again to see if he was able to ship the item I purchased but he would never respond back to me. Today I told him I wanted a refund and he sent me a nasty message back in return.

I found a candle holder that I had been looking for and was excited to find it. I paid for it and it was delivered fairly quickly. Upon opening the box I saw that it was broken. I got ahold of Mercari and got a reply saying someone would contact me and I would need to provide pictures etc. Not a problem. I waited several days and no one contacted me so I sent another email. Finally got a response asking what the problem was so I told them and they said they would check into it. (?) Waited again, then got a message today basically saying I didn't respond quick enough the seller has been paid and they can't help me! So, I guess I paid for a broken candle holder that has no value and Mercari is fine with it. And to top it off, they automatically give a 5 star review to the seller if it isn't done by the buyer within 3 days. Three days into this mess I was still waiting to hear from Mercari! They advertise money back guarantee if the item is not as described so I am not done with them yet. They will remember who I am! Wish I had read the reviews before I got involved with them.

This is my honest and first experience on the platform.
I bought a skillet, but I didn't want it anymore. I spoke with the seller to arrange a return and she was fine with it. I just had to wait till I receive the item to initiate a return. When it did, I rated the seller thinking that the "return request" would appear afterwards. I was so wrong. That button didn't pop up anywhere...
The seller told me I shouldn't have done that because then I cannot make the return. It was then that I read Mercari's policies on returns. Their return policies are horrible! I tried speaking with the seller to still arrange a return since she's located an hour away from me and oh surprise she ghosted me!
I was so upset and disappointed, I emailed customer service. They simply said that per Mercari's policies, what's done is done, and if I want I can resell the item. But that's not a solution! Interestingly enough, a five hours after their response, they closed up my support request!
Looking at my experience, Mercari is the perfect place to scam anybody with wrong or faulty items. Customer service won't help you. Mercari is not responsible if something happens. And in the end, I frikin lost my money.
None of this is exaggerated. Please heed my advice to never buy items from this platform and save yourself some trouble. It's not worth the headache.

This was the first (and LAST) time I had used Marcari.

The box came completely destroyed by UPS. When I tried to contact the seller, to tell him that it had came damaged, the world basically came to a stop.

I really don't care how this gets fixed, except, I need one part from the processor. I am not sending it back and I really do want to pay for it - despite the fact that part of it is broken.

I don't think I should have to pay for shipping given the fact that UPS broke it. And the seller refuses to submit a claim (I cannot - UPS said it must originate from the shipper.)

When I went to the site to try and rate the seller, there was no place for the "stars". As a result, things continued to get worse. I tried to explain that I was unable to rate, because there was an issue with the website. This just seemed to make the seller angrier. Eventually he just kept insisting that I send the processor back. I cannot do that because, as I said, I needed a part and they do not make them any more.

I was accused of being a liar and a cheat. I want to keep this. More importantly, I want to rate this seller. When I go to the website, it will not allow me to rate him. As a result, this spiralled out of control.

Now... I'm getting harrassed by one of the "customer support" guys asking for pictures (that were already in the complaint!).

After I completed my sales yesterday Mercari suspended my account for no reason kept my sales money, won't let me transfer it to my bank account I received messages from the buyers asking why I refunded them, Mercari deleted all my listings, it's horrible app I wouldn't recommend it

Horrible - I ordered shoes for almost $100, and the shoes sent to me were two sizes smaller than listed. The seller conceded the mistake and I notified Mercari right away (within the 3-day required period), providing the six photos they requested to show that the shoes were the wrong size. The burden was put on me to ship the shoes back ***within three days***, with the refund (allegedly) to be issued after the seller received the pacakge; I was not able to meet the 3-day period for reasons outside my control (including the fact that I was transitioning jobs that week) and notified Mercarci but Customer Service would not help me or give more time and acted like it was my fault and my responsibility to bend over backwards.
Whenever Amazon has made a mistake, they have refunded me immediately and usually not required a return. I am distressed and have spent hours messaging them. I am down almost $100.
The whole practice of treating this as a return is flawed; I was not trying to return an item I ordered and didn't like, I was asking for a refund for boots in my size that I was charged for but never received.

Mericari monitors your message i told a buyer who wanted different colors of watches i was seller to send me his fb name as its easier to send the photo there and let him choose. They sent me a warning it's against the rules ok no problem. But if I put a bunch of one item and say my price is firm or i will not except low ball offer they will get mad and flag your item's. Next thing you know your account is suspended for warning. Another bad thing you ship you product and buyer deceived they don't like they will file a dispute once tracking is available they get their money returned you could receive a empty box. It'd not right I own for legal reason they have to be strick but come on look after your sellers as well. Also don't make your pictures look good someone marks them as stock photo and you get your photo removed along with a warning. You get in too much trouble too easily. I've read so many sellers loosing their money. Yes there is a lot of fake items buyer should know if it'd a designer item new and cheap it's a fake. But they choose to buy the cheap stuff then if the seller does that like they file a dispute get their money back and you don't get your product. I used to sell at flea market festivals and other online sites. I have a lot of nice things I need to get rid of i cant sell online becisee items are so cheap price no one wants to pay for shipping therefore I send two or three nice free gifts. The best way to sell is use these app where you meet up and trade in a public place. That way they see what they are getting and you get paid right then..

Sold an item on mercari local the item got delivered one day later the buyer says item is broken after multiple requests asking the buyer to leave a review so I can get my funds the buyer says the item is broken open the case for a refund then the buyer says I didn't know how to message you. So instead of the buyer telling me that item is damaged the buyer opened the case says the item is damaged then support says after 2 days we've given the buyer a chance to return the item to get their money back. I asked the support why they claimed the item I sent them was damaged before I sent it to them basically claiming that I sent them a damaged item which is not the case. I told the representative this is false you're giving them back their money for something that you're claiming that I did but I didn't do because I was talking to them I sold multiples of these and now the case has been closed. This is very unfair sellers can cheat buyers this was a buyer's remorse they weren't happy with the item so they did whatever it took they damaged the item now they want their money back I'm not letting this go I will review and let people know these kind of sites are dangerous because and when your item is broken you have nothing no money you might get your item back but you lost the sale because the buyer was not happy. Instead of the buyer tell me how I'm not happy with this can we do something I would have worked with them instead now the site accused me of saying that I sold them a broken item which was not the case be very careful using this site

If you are a seller be very very very careful using this site. Byers can return items without proof of problem and get a refund back

I sold an item sellers need to be aware that if a buyer opens a claim no matter what the buyer can lie about the claim and get a refund that's not fair but that's how it went even after telling the representative I did not sell the item broken like that it makes me wonder how to fix this issue but sights like these should be majorly in trouble because when you claim something you have no evidence about and give somebody a refund with no evidence

A friend told me about mercari.com. Everything began okay. I found a pair of Louboutin heels that my wife loves and for a good price. I purchased them using my credit card. Within a few minutes I received an email from my credit card company asking me to confirm the transaction was mine. Being a victim of fraud I had an alert added to all my credit cards for an transaction greater than $100. I confirmed that the transaction was mine. A few minutes later I received an email from mercari saying that my transaction was cancelled and that my account was suspended indefinitely. I emailed customer service to advise them that no fraud was committed. I was using my credit card and the shipping name and address for mypurchase matched the billing name and address of my credit card. They told me they need to preserve a safe environment for their members and that fraud would not be tolerated and that my account would be deleted. I told them again there is no fraud and that I added the alert to my credit cards to protect myself. Again they replied with the same statement. This is the most irritating experience that I've had in a long time with any company. I guess I'm a real menace to society. THEY ARE COMPLETE IDIOTS!

Tip for consumers:
The tip is use an established service. This group of people are idiots and judging by the other reviews I'm not the only one that thinks so.

I was traveling back from Denver and the Apple AirPod pro were sitting in my building mailroom in nyc. The seller was pressuring me for a feedback. I got the item and did not know it was counterfeit. I opened up and did not see the scam right away, I did not know what clues to look for. I rated the seller and they got paid. I tried the item and the microphone was not good. I charged more and it was not better. The sound was muffled. I wanted to send the rubber that you put in the ears but could not do it. My neighbor helped and the headset opened up. He said he can't be an Apple product. He sent some video showing what to look for on the sticker and the weight of the real airpods versus the fake ones. I examined the item thoroughly and everything that was shown on the video matched what I had received. I told Mercari and they just answered item rated and all sales are final. The seller did not respond to my mail. I lost $228 now. I am going to open a charge back with Visa. I am very disappointed that Mercari dismissed me like that. Just a little template saying sorry all sales are final. They allow people to sell fakes and did not take the time to prevent further issues with this seller.
A real AirPod by Apple is 5 g and this one is 4g but they did not bother to read my evidence. Really poor customer service, after the sale, nobody is there to assist should a problem arise. Beware of fake Apple products. Not backed up.

Do not buy Apple products, scammers are selling and Mercari is not backing up buyers . They just say all sales are final and hide behind that sentence . They will pull the technicality issue .

I bought make up and I was please with that . Hair care was great too . Apple was a fake .my scammer changed the tracking midstream , beware of this practice.

I sold an item on Mercari. The buyer claimed the item didnt work and raised it with Mercari. Mercari accepted their return, however, the buyer shipped an empty package back to me.

I contacted Mercari within 24 hours as per their policy. Mercari told me I need to file a claim with USPS and there is nothing they can do because 'I wasn't descriptive enough in my support request'. I have presented the evidence to them in a clear cut manor, only to be ignored over and over again.

They take absolutely NO responsibility, despite now charging sellers 10% on all sales, whereas it was free before. I have opened 12 support cases and each time, they close them out with a templated response offering no help at all. Everytime I want to reply, I have to open a support case only for them to close it out again with the same templated response.

I have asked to speak to a supervisor on 7 occasions, only to be ignored. This is absolutely appalling and this CANNOT continue.

I have created a case with the Better Business Bureau and I have kept logs and screenshots of all my contact with Mercari. Looking at these from outside perspective, it's really embarrassing for this business and there is absolutely no way they can continue to act like this without going out of business.

I ordered a set of dishes and feel I was probably scammed from both the mercari sire and possibly the seller as well (called "this and that"). Was delivered a damaged set of Corelli dish ware when it was described as like new. Seller and I agreed to a partial refund. Since I was brand new to 5his site I had no ide you only had three days to rate, return, refund. The site/ app is horrible to get around in, extremely poor customer service. While I was waiting for my refund the sale was closed. The contact number only available if you google the company. Not on the app. When sale is closed, it's closed. You cannot contact the seller directly. All returns go thru the mercari company and as I said they are scammers and have just horrible customer service. If you don't mind being cheated out of your money than this site is for you. I'm going back to eBay and will never use this site again. Buyers beware this site is all scam. I wished I had looked at the reviews first as I would never ever have purchased thru them...

I wish I could give these pirates zero stars! I bought off their site a Miko foot massager for my wife for Christmas and when it arrived, immediately wrapped it in Christmas paper and put it under our tree.
On Christmas Day we tried it out and found that it was broken, non-functional, kaput, a dead parrot and then we noted the packing slip (which was adhered to an inside carton flap, not visible from the outside), indicated the massager/carton were damaged in shipment.
I contacted Mercari for an exchange or refund of my $94 and they batted me around several different Mercari pirates, contradicting each other, telling presumable lies to me and just jacked me around all over the place. Ultimately, they cited their 3-day return/complaint/refund window and told me I exceeded that window and they could not help.
Their unreasonableness was astounding! The fact that the massager was a Christmas gift and was wrapped sitting under a tree for two weeks mattered not to them. They were happy to screw a new customer, I guess. I filed a complaint with the BBB about their behavior. Steer clear of this outfit, people!

Site is extremely difficult to navigate. An extreme challenge to find a way to email the company for support and then they take a long, long time to respond. I lost an item due to the lack of clarity on the site and difficulty getting support. The seller and I agreed upon a negotiated price and when I went to pay the original price was still there. The seller was new to the site and didn't know how to change the price. By the time support got back to me the item was gone. I assume the seller found someone willing to pay the original asking price. Additionally, when I finally was able to email support they didn't understand my clearly written question and sent me instructions to do what I had already done. DON'T VISIT THIS SITE UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE EXTREMELY FRUSTRATED. Ebay and Esty are much easier to navigate and definitely much more user friendly and responsive.

Received purchased cable in the mail that was different from what was pictured on the website. The seller agreed to refund my purchase and instructed me to request a return label from Mercari. Mercari would not let me return the item because I requested the return 4 days after receiving the item and apparently you only have 72 hours to request a return (I had started a new job and was extremely busy so did not open the item until 4 days after I received it). They were completely inflexible even though I sent them a picture of the item I received showing them that it was different than the item that was listed. Unsatisfied, I attempted another customer service request about this which included the transaction ID #, they sent a reply requesting the transaction ID#. I did not respond right away because I did not know what they were talking about because I had already included the transaction ID# in the original request, and because I did not respond to that email within 24 hours they closed the ticket. What is with all of these time limits that they do not let you know about ahead of time?! We live busy lives. How ridiculous. There is also no phone # to call. I have not been so angry in dealing with a business in a long, long time. I WILL NEVER USE MERCARI AGAIN.

Tip for consumers:
Don't use it out of principle. Narrow 72 hour window to request a return after receiving an item in the mail.

Products used:
Replacement cable for salt lamp, received and item other than what was pictured which was unusable to me.

This is a follow up to one of my other reviews about this crap site. Some other things that I don't get are stock photos and just people buying the dumbest stuff. I see ads of shoes and clothes all using stock internet photos. Why would I buy that from you if you don't even show pictures taken from you? And people STILL buy it... And another thing, I saw a bland pink kappa sweater for over $50. Nothing special about it at all and it sold. Fifty bucks for a sweater? What kind of idiot is buying these things? And a yellow sweater with a big adidas logo on it, sold a minute ago with NO likes, for $80. REALLY? And to top things off (for now because I'm sure there are more stupid ads) I just saw someone sell two Resident Evil 3 games for the original playstation, USED and probably from gamestop because it had used price tags on them, which were $7.99, and the guy sold them a minute ago for $32. I don't know who's dumber: The seller or the buyer. Give me a break with this BS app. Eff you Mercari for supporting this garbage

I recently bought some Bose Soundsport headphones from this app. Before I purchased the item, I checked the photos to make sure that I would be satisfied with the item before purchasing. The condition on the item said it was good, and there were a couple pictures on there about the item. It had no notes other than, "look at the photos". I looked at the photos and they looked normal to me although one side was missing the bose logo. I purchased them and when I received the item, the headphones were falling apart! The volume button doesn't work, the headphones' volume is laughable (I fixed it along with other issues). I rated the seller 2 stars because the service was fast and I wrote a review on why I was displeased with the product. After I submitted my review, the seller sends a message on one of my items about how I posted an unfair review and that I should've looked before buying and that they'll be contacting mercari to delete my review. I attempted to respond, but the user blocked me from doing so. If you're wondering, yes my review was deleted and I lost the honest review. I am very disgusted that mercari did this and it is very unprofessional.

BUYER BEWARE* If you ever decide to start a claim over a purchase just know that Mercari algorithms will refuse to allow you to rate or leave a review about that experience. THIS IS A WAY THAT MERCARI SAVES ITS self from really bad reviews. I am SHOCKED that after my HORRIBLE yet true experience I was then denied my right to leave a review about the experience. It propelled me to make sure i left reviews on YELP, FB, BBB and now here just to make sure EVERYONE is aware of all the horrible things that could happen if you purchase things through Mercari. It is my lifes mission to leave this website fair reviews on any platform I can find because they dont offer that reviewing option for their customers. Here is what I was told in writting:

"I understand you'd like to leave feedback for this transaction, I'll gladly let you if we can.

However, as I mentioned before, if a return request has been submitted the option to leave feedback will no longer be available, and since the request was denied, our system here automatically rates the transaction.

Since the rating has already been auto-populated, we don't have ways to modify it.

I used to love mercari i sold many things on there and bought many things also. But recently i have ran into a problem what MANY MANY others have also experienced. So i sold a PlayStation on the platform and then tried to buy another console and the same minute that i bought another console with the money i earned from selling stuff on THEIR APP they canceled my orders, revoked my privileges and suspended my account. When contacting customer support to see what was wrong and i received an automated response with the EXTREMELY VAGUE explanation "unusual payment activity". The money in my account has no way of getting out and they are just gonna take that once they delete my account. I hope this despicable app gets shut down.

I sign up for this website to sell my designer item. But what happened is after I sold the item they blocked my account that my item was counterfeit. So the item was shipped to the buyer but I cannot write a message nor to transfer the money to my bank account. They asked for the authentication for the item such as proof of receipt. Who has the receipt for the old item you bought. I also purchased the Moncler jacket from this website and find out the this coat the counterfeit but I cannot contact the seller about this and get a refund.

I used to eBay for long time but they never hold funds or block the account for ridiculous reason. You really have to watch out selling at this place. There's no phone number to call the customer service and you really have to rely on the emails and this is messed up. I will never ever deal with this website and you should not either. Going back to my old friend E-Bay! Seller! You will loose your money they will black your account and you can't not do anything or transferred the money to you bank.

#1 - My daughter was looking for a certain pair of shoes and found many. She put a pair in her cart. A little while later, the seller BLOCKED her. For no reason. She didn't know why and thought because her profile didn't show much and wasn't really active. She still wanted the shoes, so I went ahead and followed the process on my phone. Found the shoes, put them in my cart to buy. However, the Mercari mobile app would not process my PayPal properly and kept giving me an error. I attempted multiple times, still an error. I did not want to use my CCard so I tried looking why it wasn't working, etc. I used the same pay process with another app using PayPal that very day and it worked fine. So - PayPal on Mercari mobile app DOES NOT WORK. It was late, I fell asleep. #2 - Next day, the seller BLOCKED ME TOO! Because the shoes were in my cart? I don't know. But what difference does that make? I couldn't finalize the purchase. No transaction went through. They were just saved in my cart. No message, nothing. Well, that person lost a sale and we reported her as "not really wanting to sell". There was no legit reason for blocking. Ridiculous. #3 Found another pair from a different seller, brand new. My daughter bought those using my CCard since PayPal would not work. The shoes were received and came with a return label inside the box (I assume for a potential return?). Daughter tried the shoes on immediately, they did not fit well (too loose) and she wanted to return them. Mercari states it's up to the seller if they will accept returns. Fine. Since there was a free return label ALREADY in the shipping box, one would assume that means returns are permitted. Right? I told my daughter to contact the seller to request a return and make sure (per the label). Well... not only did the seller refuse any return, but then immediately BLOCKED her! Yup. So that's what you get with sellers at Mercari. Real nice. Real professional. Sellers who are rude, want to snatch your money, and love to block customers, even AFTER they took your money. GOOD LUCK!

This is one of the worst purchases I have ever made. I made a purchase of a brand new Cuisinart Premium 7-in-1 Convection AirFryer Toaster Oven TOA-60,1800-Watts on 12-21-22. This product did not deliver until 01-04-23. Once we opened the box, we saw that there was a big dent in the side of it. I immediately contacted Mercari about it with and sent in 5 detailed pictures. Mercari asked me to send in 5 more pictures of it from afar back within 24 hours. This I truly believe, is irrelevant since the other 5 pictures showed the dent and the damaged box. I think the company was just buying time to not let me return it. I was contacted by the seller the same day as I sent these pictures. She apologized and told me she would send another one out. She explained this is not how she shipped it. That she saw it took forever to get to me. Once I started speaking with her, I thought Mercari stepped out of the situation. I thought I was sending this product back with no issues, until I received a message from Mercari saying my product was denied to be returned because I didn't provide the 5 other pictures. I asked them could I send in these pictures to reopen the dispute? Told them I thought these pictures were no longer needed since I had already spoke to the seller and she claimed she would ship another one out to me. This product was a Christmas present to my mother. I dropped this box off to my mother late Thursday afternoon. I then left. She opened it late Thursday night and saw the dent. She sent me the pictures and I uploaded them to the Mercari website. However, she left for a quick trip out of town for the weekend. She didn't get back till yesterday. I couldn't have got the other 5 pictures and uploaded the pictures until the next Tuesday. I believe Mercari should give a customer longer than 24 hours to respond before they completely dismiss the dispute. This is terrible customer service. I am now out of $175.00 to no fault of my own. I have contacted them several times to try and get this corrected but they keep just telling me the dispute is closed. They didn't even give it 4 days to try to resolve! WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER! Only gave them one star because I had to...

Over a month ago, I ordered a bag from Mercari, and the item never arrived. I contacted Mercari within 1 day of USPS being marked as delivered. They said they followed up with USPS and paid the seller. I noticed the seller had the exact same item still on her site, pointed it out to Mercari, and they ignored me. So, I contacted my bank to dispute this claim. Mercari immediately suspended my account telling me why. I had a previous account and dealt with a very aggressive and angry seller so I opened another account - never used the other one again. I had sold a bad on my new account and couldn't take out my funds bc the bank account was used twice. And then I noticed my account was suspended. They said it was because I disputed with my bank and immediately asked me to reverse. I said I would not, and they sent me paragraphs stating they used my funds to pay for the claim by the bank, and immediately shut down my account. I haven't been able to get in touch with anyone since then. They violated their own terms many times (not granting buyer protection), suspended my account without warning, and then force closed my account without permission. I was reading their policies and they list, in capital, no law suits and no class action suits. They must realize that these 700+ people giving them 1 stars would take them out of business. Truly a terrible and disgusting website. Becareful! I'm glad mine was only $90! I saw people lose hundreds to thousands after having their account closed and money stolen.

Mercari does nothing about scammers on their app. Beware sellers do not sell your expensive stuff on Mercari! That's why they only take 10% versus poshmark who takes 20%. Well becasue Mercari has the utt most worst customer service ever. They're quick to flag your account and suspend it if you create another listing just to upload more photos for a potential buyer who request to see to make sure they're buying the real deal. Which is understandable. Per listing you can only measly upload 4 photos! The heck can you show with 4 photos?! So when you upload another listing for additional photos they suspend your account immediately. So buyer would ask for you to email them additional photos and they'll suspend the buyers account. They're on top of stupid stuff like that but once when you contact them for other problems they have this vague automated reply. That's it! A lot of scammers on Mercari. Scammer Buyers who buy your item and then claim the package was empty!. Mercari refunds them back right away and you as a seller lose the money and your item! Mercari does nothing to protect you as a seller. They don't investigate or anything! Sellers do not sell on this app! Fair warning!

After finding out what Mercari was, I really wanted to buy some rare items for my collection, when I created my account everything was going all as well intel at some ponit, I get log out by Mercari and every time I try to login they don't allow me in because I'm not in their region. I contacted them and they told me that you should not be using a VPN emulator or changer. I said that I wasn't using that, I explained that I was a Canadian and I want to buy stuff off of their market, they came back at me saying that their was nothing they can do to solve the issue I was having and instead apologized and closed my case. Know after a half a year went by and what do I see, oh yes, "they advertised their app or website on TV in Canada" This makes me so angary because know I can't even use their app and just seeing that they think they can advertise like that in Canada and get away with it makes me sick. If your a Canadian don't use this app or website because they can't help you.
