I would give it 5 stars, but they added seller fees on top of paying taxes. A $9 item would earn you $3. Seems so unfair. But other than that, my items sell fast and I have made quite a bit selling on here.
This seller is a fraud. Do not buy from him you'll never get your item. I bought a backpack on Dec 13th. 5 days later I messaged seller and he replied that his printer broke and he would go to his office the next day to print a label and try his hardest to ship item that evening. A few days later I messaged him again to see if he was able to ship the item I purchased but he would never respond back to me. Today I told him I wanted a refund and he sent me a nasty message back in return.
I have tried REPEATEDLY to access the Mercari website from my PC and after re-setting my Password 2Xs, I was still unable to access their site. When asked WHY this was so... I received NO response. Evidently, Mercari believes that EVERYONE wants to access their site from a mobile device. NOPE! Here's the deal... I DON'T WANT TO USE MY PHONE TO ACCESS THEIR SITE, I WANT TO USE MY PC.

BYPASS!!!! Use eBay instead. Mercari sucks

A greedy Mercari scammer is offering $5 on Craiglist if you use his/her referral link and send screenshots but they get the referral rewards but don't send the $5. The ad said if its still up the ad is still good. They ignored emails and then later pulled the add. It should be hard for Mercari to find the user through their referral code RTKAWU which I reported. This is not the way I want to try a new website by being tricked and scammed so I won't use Mercari and boycott it until they fix this matter. This user shouldn't get referral rewards by scamming potential new customers that should be against TOS and get them banned. Lets see if Mercari cares about the info I sent them by email.

Only reason I gave 1 star is because I can't go any lower. This site is terrible. Costumer service is awful. They make up rules as they go. Just absolutely pathetic!

Upon tracking an item that I paid for on the Mercari app, I discovered that the item was in fact delivered by UPS post office. However, I never received the item. I contacted the post office that said all they know it was delivered because it said it was. I have emailed Mercari the same day it say it was delivered Mercari emailed me saying that they would do something about it after I had brought it to their attention when it came time to "rate the seller". But Mercari did nothing for me. I don't even know if they released my money (the cost of the item) to the seller, since I would not give them a rating. Packages should not be delivered unless someone is there to sign for it, unless other arrangements were made in advance. The only thanking Mercari suggestioned for me was changing my address Thank you for letting me know. I understand that this is frustrating as a buyer.
We offer advice on changing your address in situations like this because you can choose to have your packages delivered to another location, like your workplace or a friend you trust.
We don't want you to end up in a situation like this again.

I bought an Arlo camera from customer, but I didnt receive anything. I even went to my nearest usps and checked with them but they said the tracking # was used before. I contacted my bank and disputed the transaction due to not received the item I paid for. After I disputed, mercari gave me a refund as credit. I saw the credit so I called my bank again and cancelled the disputed transaction. However, mercari limited my account right after that and asked for verification information. The credit was expired during the time I was waiting for Mercari verified my information. After all, my account was back to normal but the credit was expired and I could not use it. I contacted Mercari to ask for issue the credit again but they said they could not re- issue the credit! So Mercari cheated and stole $103 from me! I was super mad and definitely would call the bank for dispute the transaction as well as never use them again!
Mercari took fee from selling and dont want to solve problem when things happened!

Absolutely awful customer service. We've sold several used products over the years and less expensive products without much issue. We had an order that was destroyed by UPS or FedEx, reopened by them and packaged back up broken, but Mercari didn't do anything out it. That was frustrating but ultimately the shipper's fault. However, we had a new in box collector's item sold to a buyer. The buyer had the item a few days, opened the box, damaged the box, and then told us there was a slight manufacturer's defect with the product. They attempted to fix the defect, further damaging it, and then proceeded to instead initiate a return stating "the item was not listed correctly." We flagged the return, but they accepted it immediately. We reached out to customer service multiple times during this process, explaining the situation, telling them what happened, and that we had messages in the Mercari chat from buyer stating they opened the box and stating they attempted to fix defect and we're messing with product. None of this stopped the return. Eventually, when the returned item came back to us, we photographed it immediately and sent in a complaint about the return. They investigated it, and of course, found nothing wrong, despite all the evidence given and the pictures, etc. DO NOT SELL COLLECTOR'S ITEMS WITH MERCARI! Do not sell new in box products! Buyers can damage the product and return no questions asked, losing HUNDREDS of dollars in value. Mercari will do NOTHING.

I ordered a shirt from Mercari which appeared to be a dark charcoal gray or possibly black. When I received it, the shirt was actually a very faded out light blue color and totally different from how it had been presented in the listing.
At first, I thought maybe the seller just didn't have a good camera, so I politely asked how to go about sending it back for a refund. She told me she was under no obligation to take it back.
Here's the thing - on the item listing there's a badge which says, "BUYER PROTECTION GUARANTEE Receive your item as listed, or we'll reimburse you." So I contacted Mercari's customer service to ask how to send the item back for a refund. A representative responded to me promptly, asking me to send photos, which I did.
Mercari then told me that I could not send my item back for a refund unless the seller agreed to take it back. They didn't even care that the color was wrong.
I realize now that the whole thing was a scam from the getgo. There is no buyer guarantee, and Mercari's sellers can put any old thing into a box and ship it to you, then refuse to take it back. Please learn from my loss and do not shop at Mercari!

I just recently decided to try selling some items on Mercari after a couple years of mostly good buying experiences. Sold my first item without issue, but my second sale was an infuriating! After I took pictures of my items, I carefully packaged each one so they were ready for shipment. To be able to choose the best shipping option, I weighed each item AFTER it was packed. I KNOW my weight was accurate. However, 3 days after the item was delivered I received a message from Mercari saying the package was overweight by 2 ounces, so they charged me an additional $7 for shipping. Bringing the shipping cost to $14 for a 5x5 inch tile! Surely this must be a mistake? Giving them the benefit of the doubt, I emailed customer service. I explained the situation… only to be spammed with a bunch of automatic responses. No customer service. No f*cks given. They do admit that if the buyer overpays for shipping, they keep the excess money. So, they are bullying sellers into overcharging for shipping so they can keep the "extra" money. So sleazy, it should be illegal. I will not be using this app as a buyer or seller going forward.

ZERO stars should be a option for this app. Do NOT trust them. I've sold and bought many things on Mercari. I go to use my husbands card to purchase an item and without warning (or just having my husband verify himself) which I found out was a option, they suspended my account which in turn canceled ALL of my orders that I had paid for but had not been shipped (about 6 items with a total of around $150) and now I have to wait 5-10 days for my refund (which I'm very skeptical I'll get.) I mentioned to their *******@ss customer service that I will just delete my account after I get my refunds so I don't have to deal with them anymore and they decide to take matters into their own hands and delete MY account anyway without my permission. Which to me, is very SKETCHY considering I haven't gotten my money back at this point. I get emails to rate sellers who I was still dealing with (had shipped the items before they suspended the account) and I can't even rate them, leave a review, or have the ability to dispute a item if I need to. I believe they are giving out the automated 5 star reviews without me even being able to look over an item I purchased, because of how much they have my account all jacked up from taking matters into their own hands and obviously not knowing what they are doing. Mercari seems to hire anyone where the only requirement is that they breathe oxygen and know their ABC's to work for their "customer service" department. You've been warned.

This app is unacceptable. I would give them 0 stars if i could. First of all their customer service has got to be the worst i have ever experienced. They dont have a phone number (they do but when you call it just says to go through the apps 24 hour help center) but the help center is def not 24 hours because they NEVER answer me! Middle of the day or evening they never answer. I have come into several incidences where i get a warning for a "prohibited item" based on ingredients. And instead of them deleting that ONE item they go through and delete ALL my listings i just took hours posting! I post great descriptions of my items and many pictures and take a lot of time to do so and they have several times deleted all my listings wasting hours of my time. And when i try to contact them nobody ever answers! And if i take my time to post them again they delete them again but still dont answer me. And these arent bad items, they are face creams or oils and serums. Nothing other people arent selling on the app... to make things worse I understand them deleting the one item i got a notification for but why delete all the other stuff?! I contact their email as well and still never a response! When they finally do answer (days later if they answer at all) they reply and say that the issue has been resolved (even if it hasnt) and then once they say the issue has been resolved you cant reply back! I want my listings to be put back up. Absolutely the worst customer service.

I thought I would try Mercari and sold a small item to see how this works. The buyer was not happy as the item was not what he expected (even though my post was very accurate). To be nice, I refunded his money by cancelling the order (even through he already had the product and I probably would not get it back). I tried to contact Mercari to explain (since they don't encourage cancellations and I was doing so after delivery). What a wild goose chase. Usually when clicking on Contact with any company, you can immediately send a message. Not on this platform. When I finally was able to (click, click, click) I got a worthless response saying how sorry they were about my experience without addressing my comment/question on whether they expedited the refund and the fact that since I cancelled the order I could not send a message to the Buyer. They never mentioned anything. I sent another message to be told I canceled the order (Duh!) and the buyer was getting a refund. (Never commented on what happens to my product.) What a waste! First and last time I try this. The platform is not user friendly. Not worth the effort. I will stick to LetGo and OfferUp and just sell locally. So much easier. Mercari should take some of the money they waste on all their commercials and make their platform user friendly. Click contact and just send a message. Customers should not have to work so hard to contact them.

I purchased an item on Mecari the shipper cancelled the item I have waiting for my money for 2 Weeks. Everytime I contact them they send me a pregeneratated answer. I was told I was going to recieve my funds on 11/5. Contacted them yesterday now they are asking me to wait until 11/10. This is Unacceptable, they also went into my inbox which is private and erased messages between a seller and I. Its says deleted by administrator, a few weeks ago I would tell people to buy from this site but now. I say STAY AWAY THE STEAL YOUR MONEY AND DON'T RESOLVE ISSUES. THEY ALSO GO INSIDE YOUR PRIVATE INBOX AND ERASE MESSAGES THAT DID NOT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THEM. RUN DONT USE THIS SITE

I recently sold for the first time sold an item on mercari. I sold a lenovo laptop for $500,shopped the otem the seller received it unfortunately since the buyer didn't rate me I had to wait the 3 days for medcari to put in a Automatic rate in order for my payment to come through upon that I cN see that I have $440 dollars after there fee in my balance I sent them a photo ID gave them my social and my bank info and filled out the tax form and they want to continually say that they cant verify me, and will not release my funds to me I am about to blow my top now the buyer has my laptop and I have nothing nonlaptop no money and absolutely no customer service to get this fixed. I deleted the rest of my listing from the sight I will NEVER sell from there again and I would highly suggest anyone else not to either! Oh I'm sorry $ 400 there fee was more then I thought I have literally sent my ID several times and it is 100% legible

There is absolutely no customer service the phone number given is a answering system to which you will get an email back not a phone call and if there is an issue it is all through messaging not live chat you submit proble. I order sh figure from this site and got a tracking number and I was told it was coming on the 31st of August long story short it came early I went to my mailbox and there was no item so I contact the seller and they did not reply I went to my post office and they told me the tracking number I received was someone else packages that lived somewhere else in my town USPS driver went back and confirm that none of the packages had my name on it so went to the site and hit up customer service and I was told it was delivered and they still paid the guy my hard on money for an invisible product and gave ne my money back in store credit telling me I need to change my address to a more secure location. I have many deliveires at my home address and nothing was never stolen do not buy anything from this person name phantomRider he is a scammer

Selling is easy and I had no problem with the app for two years. It used to be fine to get my funds in my checking account, however, 2 years ago I deleted my account because I would no longer be using it. Recently, I opened a new account since I couldn't get into my old deactivated one (I wasn't even receiving a reset password email to get into my old account after Mercari states that you can reactivate an account by logging, which clearly wasn't working after sending multiple reset password emails) so now I can't use my checking account information because it is associated with the other account. They say that they can't deposit into a savings account and that my account could be terminated for opening multiple accounts, which is honestly bull. Any other site would allow you to open a new account after deleting an old one years ago. Anyway, my funds were deposited to my savings even though they state they can't do that and I got some load of crap about using a prepaid visa card to get my funds out of my Mercari account but never told me the steps of how to do that. The customer service is horrible. They hold your checking account info in their system for 5 years even if you delete your details before deleting your account. I will not be using this app ever again for the hassle.

It took from 10/27/19 to 11/09/19 for me to receive the merchandise(roaster). Only then because I had to track the ship myself. Hard to locate anyone at Mercari and the actual seller (tcumbee18) couldn't be found. I contacted FedEx on several occasions until I think they got tired of hearing from me and finally got me to a person in tracking at FedEx. It was only hours after that when I received an e-mail from Mercari that I would get my shipment the next day, but I had to make arrangements to pick it up at a Walgreens in Warner Robins, GA. That trip was about a 50 mile round trip when there was a terminal of FedEx only 10 minutes from my home. I will never purchase anything else through Mercari. I went by today to pick up the item and low and behold the thing was filthy. Splatters of something all over the outside and the inside pan still had left over food stuck to it and had been dropped because the corner was chipped. The lid was bent in several places and the handle was broken. Luckily, I had kept the lid and inside pan from my old one. I can not and will not give even two star on this sale. The money back guarantee should definitely be given without shipping the item back.

I feel bad because I have recommended this site to several of my friends and family. I had good luck selling, made sales, things were going well. Today I found out that I am at the mercy of the US postal service. I thought I had reviewed the site carefully, yeah I had to pay 10% on my sales, but hey they handle everything UNTIL I sent a planter that arrived to the buyer broken. Well the buyer got their refund, as for me, well even though I shipped the item with the insurance. I have to go thru the post office to TRY and get a refund. Yep, that's right, Mercari DOESN"T tell you that if an item is damaged that YOU have to go thru the post office to get a refund, they make it sound "like don't worry your product is insured". Mercari has the pictures of the planter before, and they have pictures of it broken, I don't, but they "offered" to send them to me if I contacted them. Duh, of course I am going to need the pictures. You would think since they have all the information they would handle the insurance, after all it's their label I am using, but nope! I will not sell anything breakable or worth a lot of money thru them any more. After reading reviews it seems they do a great job of protecting the buyer BUT not the seller, who they take 10% from, you think they would protect of because it's our money they get! If people stop selling on their app. Where will they be? So to all of you out there becareful because as the seller you lose! In reviewing more about the company it seems they do very, very little to protect their sellers!
