Initially customer service gave me some trouble due to mistaken identity, however the (frustrating) problem was resolved. I must say that I enjoy the simplicity of Mercari. It is a more streamlined method of buying and selling than Ebay.
This web site is terrible. They have pictures of the item but sends you something totally different. For example. The bags are clearly vintage but you receive a brand new fake bag plastic bag. They have so many sellers websites doing this. They are are usually shipping out of Chino, California. You order one thing and receive another. They don't refund money instead they credit.
What a waste of time and horrible Return Policy.
I bought a pair of shoes that were listed as a Size 8 and they were actually a Size 8 NARROW. Mercari stated that there the item was sold according to their guidelines- so I am stick with a pair of shoes that were in my opinion not listed accurately. Will never shop or list with this company again!

Do not use unless you want to be scammed out of your hard earned money! I sold a graphics card and the buyer said it had weights in it. Mercari refunded then their money and told them to ship it back to me. I sent Mercari a picture of the weight from UPS when I shipped it and what the weight was when I received the package back. They weight was totally different! Mercari closed the ticket and didn't care. I am out $1,600 because Mercari could careless what happens on their platform or that people are being scammed! I highly discourage anyone from using them!

The item I received did not match the description of what I purchased and it was nearly impossible to get help. The customer service tab wouldn't allow me to send a message. When I finally received assistance by going through the account set up assistance I was asked to send photos three times and they were never able to resolve my problem. They also disabled my ability to rate the sender. I'll never use the site again.
Mercari offers no type of protection for sellers. I shipped an Apple Watch to someone that was broken and sold for parts. Buyer states watch doesn't work. Um I know, it was sold for parts only. Buyer refuses to rate me or open a return request and Mercari has absolutely no customer service. So I'm out of an item and Mercari refuses to release money.
I ordered a game system that did not come with the games posted in the ad. You n notifying the seller, she said she would repost the game so I could purchase it. Wait. What? She just did a bait and switch on me and now she will get payed again for a game that I already paid for. Also, I waited so long for her to ship it. I ordered a game from another seller and received it in two days.
I do not like how we are forced to review an item in three days or they automatically give the seller 5 stars. I rated this seller at 2 stars which was me being nice.
After she saw my rating she started sending me threatening messages. All you have to do is send the buyer what is in your post. It is pretty cut and dried.
As a seller, I sold 5 items with no issues and no complaints. Had the money in my bank account the day after the buyer rated the transaction.
I have since deleted the app and will not be using it again.
Mercari is a bad place to sell any product, First of all its very difficult to get any response from them. And when they respond back, they don't even answer your question! And I have to repeat my self over and over to get across to them! And second of all they promise to resolve the issue within 24 hrs and when that time comes, they don't have a resolution and the tell you it's still pending! And now it's been 2 weeks and still no resolution! Iam done with them! Horrible customer service.
I bought a Motorola G7 Power cellphone listed as new & unlocked on Mercari. I had it shipped to my mother's home. The seller contacted me & said he had forgotten the adapter & that he would send it along with other 'goodies" in a separate package.
Both the seller & Mercari were pressuring me to rate the seller within three days. I told them both "not until I receive the second package." Mercari rated the seller anyway & released my almost $100 payment to him.
The cellphone I have received is a Motorola Play that was used with a USB cord without an adapter. The second package with the adapter NEVER arrived.
This has been a horrible experience. The seller was rated five stars & had great reviews.

I purchased something through mercari's website and it ended up being falsely advertised. It was advertised as a new item but when I received it, it was clear that it was used... which isn't the worst thing that can happen. But that's not the reason for the 1-star. When I contacted customer service they did not help me at all. There was no way to contact the seller. And they would not let me leave a review for the seller. It was apparent that they were just trying to block me from leaving a review that was less than 5-stars. I will not be purchasing anything from them anymore.
I was browsing on the Mercari site for a red barn star, and I came across a seller known as Lela. She was advertising one, and I messaged her to verify the size and make an offer, which is a buyer's option on this site, as most are. Lela responded to my message. She verified size, did not accept my offer, referring me to the image of a price tag at $24.99. I replied Thanks. I received her response in my hotmail account with the words, "complete waste of time." I was stunned by this message, the site did not allow me to respond directly. I saw the flag, and reported it. If this is an acceptable response to an inquisitive and experienced online shopper, then pigs do fly! A helpful saying I keep in mind is…what you think goes down the sink, but what you write is never out of sight.
I had been listing some things on here and had no issues, then I bought my son a pair of "beats" ear buds as a gift that were new in the box only to find out they were fake. So, I started looking at other listing on there and found that there were lots of the same ones I bought listed as authentic, now I listed some skin cream with makeup that I had and got suspended because it was skin cream that could give a reaction... as could anything including eye shadow or foundation. Not worth my time and hassle if people are okay to be selling knockoffs as authentic. I would not recommend them to anyone!
I saw an item I wanted so I set up an account and purchased it. I paid via pay pal and the transaction was approved. A while later I got an email from Mercari that they had cancelled the transaction and suspended my account. You can't contact anyone so the great present I bought my son is now history.
I Shipped a bunch of items weighing 4 oz. Mercari sent me the labels. For several places the shipping cost more than the label Mercari must have sent me. They then Charged me the entire cost of the items as a fee! $9.28 for a 4 oz. Item and $11.89 for a different 4 oz. Item.
They also charge you for the postage even if the seller cancels the order.
Bought an expensive mobile device. Sale ad stated, sprint device, unlocked, and clean meid. All which were lies. It's a LOCKED, MetroPCS, stolen phone. Mercari rates transactions on their own after day 5. Therefor Mercari states they can NOT help me with a stolen device I purchased.
After 3 purchases, 3 different sellers, I've never had my items even shipped out and had to wait 7- 10 days for a refund after waiting over a week for just to figure out I wasn't getting what I bought! Mercari experience was awful and deleted my account!

If your item does not ship within 24 hrs its probably not going to! That's been my experience!

Gives you only 3 days! Sellers do not respond if you have a problem and you cannot even give them a rating, very unsafe. No option to get a refund or replacement after only 3 days! RUN do not walk AWAY! And it floods your inbox with SPAM.
I sold an item on this site. The item was shipped on time but was lost in transit to buyer. I contacted support because they advertise that sellers are protected fron this sort of thing. Instead of helping, support deleted my listing & wrongfully claimed that I used a stock photo and then ignored my requests for help. I was told there is no number to call. They did this so they didn't have to pay the claim. They told the buyer they cancelled it and that it wasn't covered under protection because she didn't purchase insurance. What the? They don't even offer insurance. They send us a label in email and we use it! Bunch of Scammers!

Don't waste your time. Sell on eBay or even Poshmark or something. These people at Mercari are thieves and liars.

I've used mercari a hand full of times to buy and sell items. Since selling I've discovered that they don't offer a means for you as the seller to collect shipping. You have no choice but to use their label system and if by chance you have an issue with the label you could wait up to 2 days to have you issue resolved, 2 DAYS that your customer is going to have to wait for you to be able to provide tracking! If you don't want to use this faulty system you only have the option to have free shipping which you come out of pocket for! One of the most broken systems I've ever seen in a buying and selling service, FB sale is even better than this mess smh do not waste your time with mercari! I will be keeping my store on eBay!

I ordered from Mercari. For some reason, my order was delivered back to the seller - I never received it. I ordered it for a special occasion. I requested a refund from Mercari and they stated that I would have to wait almost 1 month - even though tracking showed it went back to the seller. They would not answer me when I asked 1 month. Obviously, scammers! Will file a dispute with credit card against this crooked site!
Mercari is scam and customer service is worst. Most of the items are fake not legitimate. In 3 days customers should check if they are working 4th day nothing will work and they don't responsible anymore,

We have been buying and selling on Mercari for 4-5 years. Had over 2500 sales with a 5 star reputation. They froze our account asking for picture of drivers license and picture of my face for facial recognition. Gave them all the information they asked for and account is still locked indefinately with over $1000. 00 balance on it.
Beware before you buy! This site and its Customer service completely favor the seller. I purchased an item that was not as described at all, so I wanted to return it. Left a message for the seller who completely ignored me. Contacted customer service, and once they finally got back to me, they informed me that I was outside the three day period and I couldn't return the the lying seller's item that I had been sent! I was outside the three days because no one got back to me in time! So I was nice, tried to give the seller the opportunity to fix things, and I got screwed over by her and their so called customer service. Now I'm stuck with a expensive bag I'll never use. As far as I'm concerned, mecari is far inferior to eBay in every way. I would NEVER recommend them to anyone!

Ordered a Gucci beanie. Seller minimized photo's to be deceptive, stated it was unisex. The beanie measures almost 12 x 12. It slid down my whole face, who has a head that is a foot big? Terrible site, says it has a buyer protection warranty. It has nothing... BUYER BEWARE!

I tried to purchase a phone from a few sellers and was directed away from the site in order to complete the purchase. Total scam! I did not complete any of the transactions. Also, I noticed that all of the sellers that I encountered were very young, which made me a bit Leary. Don't take a chance with your money. Too many red flags.
