I purchased a dress that was misrepresented and was told that I would get a refund if I sent the dress back by prepaid label. I did so in the time required and the seller relisted the dress with a picture of a different colored dress. Same as before. And, still no refund a week later with all kinds of excuses as to why.

They banned my account for no reason! This company is horrible! I've sold lots of things and customers are asking me for email because their stupid app wouldn't take their payment. Next thing I know, they deactivated my account. I will spread this everywhere! This company needs to be shut down. Awful

I used Mercari to sell my Barbie dolls and other collectable dolls. I sold all of them but one buyer opened one of my Brand New, Unopened Barbie dolls and detached the head from the neck when trying to pull it out of the box. The buyer returned it blaming me for sending a defective doll. I sent Mercari pictures of the opened and ripped box to compare with my listing pictures showing the box wasn't opened nor ripped. Mercari took the buyer's side leaving me with a damaged doll that I can't sell now.
Compare the picture of the doll I sent with the picture of the one with broken neck.

I made a deal with the seller. I paid, got a confirmation, and about a half hour later, I got a cancellation notice. I tried contacting the seller and it told me that I can't contact the seller by any means. I can even ask why. WTH!

I order a Brand New Pair of Shoes from a seller and I opened the box and looked at them the first day. On the 4th day I decided to wear them and the shoes fell apart! I can't get a refund. I wore them for 1 hour and walked around with them at work and almost fell because the entire wedge came off and the top of the shoe. The other shoe started falling apart but the left shoe came undone l.

Poor customer service and overall sketchy
December 10, 2022

I only left 1 star because 0 wasn't an option. Purchased a pair of sandals and after two weeks of No status updates I reached out to customer service. They told me they would "reach out" to the seller. Weeks went by, and after a month a messaged again to only receive the same response. I finally canceled my order and after went to leave a review for the seller to only find out that she had canceled/closed her Mercari account 7 months prior. Now if I could find that out, why couldn't this company who hosts individuals find that out and inform me to cancel, or just not allow the purchase to happen from the beginning. So, I canceled my order and the amount that was returned to me was a fraction of the purchase. I again emailed customer service and have yet to receive a reply regarding an explanation as to why my full amount wasn't refunded. It just seems like they don't know what they're doing like children are running this company.

I bought something through this company and never received it. They have my money and I have nothing and I cannot get in touch with anyone. They don't answer the phone and they don't answer any messages. Do not do business with this company.

Worst platform ever

I don't use this anymore and I don't recommend this to anyone either. Horrible customer service (actually there is NO customer service) and if there are any issues with a transaction, they don't resolve it very professionally

I sold an item and told the buyer I would be sending it late. They acknowledge the fact and then canceled the order the day it should have been delivered. When I contacted the company they said they allowed the buyer to cancel because I sent my item late. I am out of money and my item and the company doesn't care.

I contacted Mercari promptly about not receiving the item o bought even though tracking shows it was delivered Mercari closed the transaction and took my money basically stole my money and told me because tracking shows it was delivered there is nothing they can do for me they puff a lot of nothing saying that the buyer can purchase with assurance but it's all just a bunch of puffing Mercari is a bunch of thieves and scammers

I purchased an item and the seller lied about the weight of the item. I let the Mercari know about the issue and asked for a return. A member from escalation team from Mercari contacted me and asked to wait for the return shipping label. I waited for more than a day and emailed back to Mercari. The same person from the team told me to wait for another 24 hours and I will receive it soon. I waited for two days and suddenly I got a message from Mercari that the money was released to the buyer and Mercari left a feedback to the seller. How can they do that? Can I trust them anymore?

We have been sellers on Mercari for over a year with over 200 positive reviews. We had a buyer with now reviews or anything (which is fine)purchase a $200 item from us. The buyer opened a return and sent us back socks. Mercari sided with the buyer. We lost the money and the item. Mercari is the app scammers thrive on because Mercari doesn't support their sellers. Needless to say we don't trust the site any longer we're a small business and can't afford to be scammed out of inventory.

I purchased a handbag and the wrong size was sent to me and I wanted to return it but they wouldn't let me. They also say that until you rate the seller, they don't get paid but they paid anyway. There's absolutely no "Buyers Protection" here but I guess some buyers got lucky

To date, Mercari continues to block my ability to sell OR buy from their website. This is almost two weeks from when they said they would review the documents I've sent to prove my eligibility to sell and buy from their website.

Nothing is being done... no contact from a legitimate person as they claim. My account is still blocked. No explanation. Nothing. Customers are unable to send me a message nor am I able to send or receive messages. It is ridiculous.

Mercari claims that they are working with me to resolve the issue but this is further from the truth. They sent me a robo-response letting me know that someone will contact me 11 days AFTER telling me that it would take 48 hours to confirm my eligibility. Mercari is giving me their standard response to complaints.

In one year I had ten sales. So dead its so ridculous. I sell on Poshmark with great success and Amazon far better and eBay is slow too. Just a waste of time and effort. I had a lot of listings and all were deactivated and showed as sold but they were not sold it was a lie from their team. I asked them why when their website is already dead?

If a seller does not ship an item to a seller, the seller can not rate the buyer. Plus: The buyer has to wait at least a week for Mercari customer service to issue a refund. There is no mark against the seller.

I bought a listing for 2 dolls listing for says for both dolls. Now seller got a better offer from a different buyer and wants double the price to send me the dolls, I paid $632 now she wants $1,200 so she will not ship my dolls, Mecri won't help, I want what I paid for they should not be able to sale to someone else they should be suspended.

They are suppose to offer 200 insurance if something is broken in transit and they don't. They always side with the buyer, and say the seller didnt pack well enough. Even when you provide pictures that you did and stuff happens out of your control. That is what the 200 is for right? Apparently not. You can report them to the BBB, they dont care. It is really a bad company.

Garbage Customer Service
November 22, 2021

At first the site was a great placeto find niche items. However, soon a certain user began keyword stuffing one of my favorite tags. There was so much unrelated and offensive garbage on the tag that it was no longer viable to use to find items. When I reported the problem to their customer service I was met with excuses and genetric responses back. I left the site and no longer use it. That user is still keyword stuffing. Not a big surprise.

First of all, they make it so difficult to become a seller. I understand all the verification reasons but most stuff sold on there is all junk, they make it so hard to give you a refund or report an account. Not a trustworthy site. I wouldn't advice anyone to sell on Mercari
