Initially customer service gave me some trouble due to mistaken identity, however the (frustrating) problem was resolved. I must say that I enjoy the simplicity of Mercari. It is a more streamlined method of buying and selling than Ebay.
This web site is terrible. They have pictures of the item but sends you something totally different. For example. The bags are clearly vintage but you receive a brand new fake bag plastic bag. They have so many sellers websites doing this. They are are usually shipping out of Chino, California. You order one thing and receive another. They don't refund money instead they credit.

One of the Bose Companion Computer systems was great. The Other... Oh my, The controller cable was damaged, not by shipping but seller had to know it was damaged and non - operable before packing. So I went on-line to return and the piece was listed as " Stolen " I clicked every button to find the link to return. 1 hour later - Impossible! You can't get an answer. I looked@ Mercaris feedback, pitiful. So I'm out 200+ dollars, Folks please don't make the same mistake, Customer Service Sucks!

I have bought only two items using this app, and BOTH of them were bad. The first one sent me the wrong size of jeans that I bought, so useless. I've sent them back, and who knows if I'll get either my money or the correct pair of jeans.
The second item was completely different than what was pictured, and in the description it was half correct. Once again, useless.
I just sold one thing a few days ago, so we will see if I'm actually gonna get my money or not.
Aside from all that, the code on which the app runs is clunky, I ran into all sorts of interesting problems and errors just trying to upload pictures that are required to return an item. After four different attempts of throwing errors and starting all over again, using different devices, it finally worked... very very time consuming and simply unnecessary.
There's too many apps out there that do the same job WAY better.
I got an email from Mercari yesterday stating that I was selling non authentic Louis Vuitton jewelry. Guess what? It is authentic! So now I am blocked and when all my transactions go through I am deleted. WTF? I'm going to start buying/selling on another site. Good luck Mercari because you're the WORST!
I signed up for this to sell a Gucci wallet because the fees are less than the other reseller sites. I have not sold the wallet, but get a notice that my account has been closed due to selling counterfeit items. How could they possibly know that it was counterfeit if it never left my home? It isn't and would be happy to show them my reciept from Neiman Marcus. There is ZERO customer service. It's very frustrating.
I bought a lamp advertised as Like New, but got one that didn't work, had a big dent and several small chips. It wasn't the one in the photo and that fact wasn't noted. It had to go back. Mercari doesn't enable buyers to Review sellers who perform badly. And, Mercari's policy is that buyers get a full refund to original form of payment if they receive damaged goods, but they gave me Mercari credits and wouldn't reply to my emails afterward. I will never consider buying on Mercari again and wish I'd read reviews before doing so in the first place. Hard to believe they remain in business, with such terrible customer service.

Everything was going great until I had just 1 person report my item as a fake which its 100% authentic but now after all my hard work put into my little mercari shop they have held $218 from me for 90 days just because 1 person said my item was fake. Dont even waste your time with this app. When you try to contact customer service its like youre talking to a nonexistent computer.
Found an IPhone 11 order pro Max that seemed too good to be true, took my chance and ordered one but seller canceled and refunded (as of right now I'm still waiting on funds), seller posted another one for cheaper and when I ordered she did the same thing. She then gave me a phone number to text which I did with no response. If it seems too good to be true, it just might be. Some sellers seem legit, they usually sell items that are similar to eBay, offerup, (market level) but for the cheaper ones just beware. Canceling my Mercari account due to many scammers
This site is run by a bunch of lazy reps. They don't read what the questions or comments are. They just reply with generic respond like you are mentally challenged. They deactivate your listing without any investigation or not following their OWN rules when your listing gets flagged for whatever reason. If I were you, I wouldn't waste my time to list your stuff there. There are other better selling platforms.
Be aware that Mercari is hit and miss. If you hit enough returns, they don't tell you this upfront, but they will start to deny your cases. This makes it rather unsafe to buy from them unless you're very sure of what you're expecting, or you're open to the possibility of getting jipped. I just tried to return a stained item and they denied my request (I was a loyal and consistent customer who barely asked for returns in proportion to how much they rated five stars). So, just beware of this happening to you. They can be a deceitful company sometimes. Also, certain sellers are combative and defensive, and may harass you if you start a return case, so keep that in mind and don't give into their bullying.
The WORSE help center ever! Mercari replies with Fake Names and wont tell me why they suspended my account. They said its because my bank was investigating. Investigating what? BofA says no such thing. This company is shady. Go to GOAT or EBay. Mercari is nothing but trouble!
A buyer bought an item from me and then had buyers remorse so they reported to mercari that it was not authentic without checking with me or discussing it with me they allowed the buyer to return it it was a very simple case of buyer's remorse a lady bought it for her husband and he was pissed because she paid as much as she did for it mercari is a bunch of idiots! I was a seller that got screwed
So i took a chance and placed an order for a hard to find item. Yea, it was too good to be true. 12 days later the item is still processing though I got an email that stated it would ship in 3 days. I initiated communication with the seller through Paypal inquiring when the item would ship. The next day I got a refund with no explanation about my order. However, I was told if I don't use their help section in the future- my account would be suspended. Buyers proceed with caution with this company.
I just received my first package from Mercari and I'm very satisfied. Item arrived only 2 days atter i ordered, perfectly packaged and exactly as described. I have couple of items posted on my profile for selling so let's see how that goes, but so far I'm loving this app. It's very easy to use and has a lot of nice, inexpensive stuff. My purchase was a moto jacket, new with tags, perfect condition for only 14 dollars shipping included, plus i took advantage of 5 dollars off the app gave me for being a new member so i ended paying only 9 dollars :D
Boy, did I pick what I think has turned out to be a crappy company to deal with! I'm talking about Mecari, of course! I chose to make purchases from two of their "sellers" and one of the items arrived damaged, due in large part... to poor packaging. And when I tried to follow Mercar's "rules" regarding filing a complaint, all I feel I've gotten is a runaround, non-working internet links from the website and a bunch of crap! My advice, people? Steer clear of this company and find other alternatives... may eBay or Amazon! Yep... From my point of view, this has turned into a horror story!

I ordered six items from Mercari recently. Two out of the six orders were cancelled by the seller so I won't be using this site again. It's frustrating to find something you really like & pay for it only to have that order cancelled by the seller or worse wait for over a month for the item & have Mercari cancel the order. Then be bothered by checking to see that you receive your money back. Waste of time!
Mercari is preventing me from transferring my hard earned money in sales on their platform. Account isn't closed nor do I have any notices. I noticed when I tried to promote an item and I was told I could not. Said activity isn't allowed unless I updated the app and/or verify my identity but the app is already up to date. About 3k locked inside mercari's platform and zero communication due to covid-19. Dealing with this company has been an absolute nightmare and a hassle.

I had rather quite unpleasant experience with purchasing something on Mercari. Seller (Respect-Collect mercari.com, u, *******/) was selling a Nintendo game. Listed as "xxxgame for Nintendo switch). However, in fine print (I guess it was there at the beginning but I didn't see it at all), it says "case, xxx only". Package arrived with an empty case. Was that a joke, I was wondering. A bit positive thing is Mercari provided me store credit which needs to be used whiten 30 days, but the catch is I am not allowed to leave feedback. So, basically if buyer has any issue with the order, Mercari would give buyer a credit, and not allow buyer to leave feedback. You got it. I contacted seller and suggest to make the item clear, like putting Case only on item subject. Seller rejected me, saying I should just blame myself. Well, please take care, everyone.
I have been a longtime member buyer and seller on Mercari. And I have sold a lot! In January I sold a lamp it shipped Fedex from MiddletonTn to Chattanooga Tn Mercari claimed that Fedex said the shipping weight was 53 lbs 1oz that was incorrect it was 12 pounds 8 oz I always put a little more than the actual weight so it was 14 pounds and it cost $22. On my post. After several inquiries with Mercari employees on the website they closed it and said Fedex charged 53.1 lbs it cost 342.94 to ship and we owe you nothing. I contacted Fedex two different times and they sent proof of the actual charges they charged Mercari on that tracking number on my package and it was $12.35 so my part of that sale after Mercari takes a big bite out was a little over 277.00 which I never received they still insist Fedex is the one who is at fault. I contacted the CEO John Langerling on Facebook and LinkedIn with No Respond. All the customer service numbers listed are recorded messages telling you to respond in Mercari website. This company is based in Japan with a US office in Palo Alto California and the CEO info says he's based in Las Vegas Nv. I guess my next move is my attorney and I think it is absolutely crazy to have a company that you can not make a phone call and talk to a live person That's just poor business to me. Ive just recently purchased a few things on the Mercari app. Mostly infant clothes and shoes. Things went smooth. Tried to purchase two different crib mobiles for my grandaughter, and they were both "cancelled" by the sellers... weird, but ok, no big deal. Tonight, i went to purchase a baby outfit, and i received a message that said my account has been suspended indefinitely, after, of course, they already took the money for it. WHAT THE? Um, I have no idea why. I use the same credit card, and have plenty of money, so? We'll see if I actually get the refund. I very politely told them to shove it, I like Poshmark better anyway :) moral of the story... believe what you read and beware of these scams. It always seems good at first to hook you. Eventually they WILL take you for whatever they can of you hard earned dollars!
Received package 9days later, the digital frame was cracked and another 4 scratch on the screen but condition is NEW, Mercari refuses refund put me on hold than send me emails 2days later said: case closed.
Seller all get five stars, reject customer complaint and any review.

So many problems to complain about...#1. Not able to speak with a human...#2. No way to confirm delivery if item is marked undeliverable...#3. They give your money to seller even if you don't rate the delivery...so it's ripe for fraud! Most sellers are great and honest...but a handful are just scammers!

Bought 2 comics for $80 to be slabbed from Brian's comics in North Carolina. Apparently, both went to cgc. However one got a ng because there was a page missing. Neither the seller nor Mercari want to compensate me for the time or the money. I find them patronizing when you spend that kind of money on an investment.

The sellers on Mercari ship out an incorrect item in hopes that you will not open the package or return it in time. Mercari does not protect the buyer! Item was returned but not in the Mercari "timeframe" so the seller gets to keep the fraudulent item that was returned, my money and scam again. I purchased Roden & Fields and received this. Just shame.
A buyer inquired about an expensive item I had listed. Asked for
Proof of purchase and was given just that. All tags and product still in original packaging. After receiving the product they claim it's inauthentic even though I've provided all the proof showing otherwise. Mercari approved the return without even giving me a chance to prove otherwise and I can't even contact anyone for help. I suspect the buyer wants to swap out my product with a fake of their own since I can see they are a reseller of similar products I sell! Sellers are being scammed with no way to defend themselves. Absolutely unacceptable! I will be taking legal action..
This company is literally a criminal organization! They flag and suspend your account stating your selling fake items! When you provide the receipt and authenticity cards they ignore the information and repetitively ignore and respond with pre written excuses and leave you without no options! They make themselves absolutely unavailable for questions and responds through email if your lucky. All for the specific intent and purpose to steal your balance in your account. You can read the thousands of reviews just like mine! They try to break you down and make you give up! I've spoken to BBB I've reached out to FTC waiting for help retrieving my balance of $1306! No help as of yet! Beware of this criminal platform! Absolutely disgusting and criminal company that needs to be taken down!
