Initially customer service gave me some trouble due to mistaken identity, however the (frustrating) problem was resolved. I must say that I enjoy the simplicity of Mercari. It is a more streamlined method of buying and selling than Ebay.
This web site is terrible. They have pictures of the item but sends you something totally different. For example. The bags are clearly vintage but you receive a brand new fake bag plastic bag. They have so many sellers websites doing this. They are are usually shipping out of Chino, California. You order one thing and receive another. They don't refund money instead they credit.
Good for selling items but if buyer wants a return... you will be left in the dark. Mercari will "investigate" supposedly. Never know why customer wanted return and Mercari won't ask you anything. Very one sided.
Beware Mercari. They have made a deal with USPS were they'll sell you a 2 day shipping label but it's a scam on their part. Shipping labels don't update on delivery time and mercari cancels your sale and you loose your money. I closed my account. Never again. Go with amazon. They're not called Amazon for nothing!
I tried to purchase products from Mercari several months ago, out of 4 purchases only one was the right item, one was the wrong item and two orders simply died due to their failure to communicate or ship, so I cancelled after 2 weeks.
My current order is about to be canceled for the same reasons, failure to communicate or ship.
Great News, PayPal is aware of Mercari's practices and gave me an immediate refund. Obviously too many refunds to Mercari buyers, due to fail to ship or to ship the right products.
Made the mistake of thinking they got better. Now way.
I am now waiting for an item to ship, that has not yet shipped yet should have been delivered, according to Mercari, 4 days ago.
So the sellers, fail to communicate, ship the wrong parts, fail to ship or ship promptly.
Then Mercari, blocks you from leaving feedback unless the sale completes.
So they all have unreal and unearned very positive feedback provided by Mercari, regardless of how terrible they are.

If you actually get your product and it is what you bought, you should buy lottery tickets for you are one lucky person. The sellers fail to communicate, they fail to ship promptly if at all, they ship other than what you ordered.
Plus the feedback ratings are fake, they only allow feedback from satisfied sales, if it does not close or you are not happy, you can't leave feedback. There is only a customer support line in India, if you can understan

Mercari will not allow me to sell my David Yurman ring because it is not authenticated by their service which charges a fee. Even if I was willing to pay they will not accept it because I do not have a serial number. My ring has no serial number. No David Yurman rings have a serial number. I purchased mine in the DY store so I know that. What kind of scam are they pulling? I see other sellers have DY rings for sale on there with no authenticate sign. How did they get to sell and not me? One more complaint. Mercari buyers are mostly lowballers.

I bought an inflatable raft. Sold as new condition and inspected. Used with a bad patch over a hole causing a leak. Mercari refused refund because I requested day 4 after receiving the boat and stated I had to respond within 72 hours of receiving delivery. At 72 hours Mercari posts an automated review of 5 stars to the seller. A deal on the boat and I will hopefully fix the patched hole and fix it, but I was lied to by the seller and Mercari refuses to acknowledge the problem. I will not do business with them again and advise anyone else to stay away as well. No way now for me to leave an actual review to the seller.

I brought an speaker from them for $139 then text them for return was a pain in the a... at the end paypal dispute and win but I ended paying $65 for the shipping back don't get nothing from this people is a lot better places to get stuff. Out there.

I purchased an item based on the listing picture and description which was totally different from what I received. I immediately emailed the seller and then customer service requesting a refund and was directed to provide pictures of the item received, which was done on the same day I received the item.
They emailed me on a Saturday requesting the pictures be sent again and gave me 24 hours (Sunday) to resubmit? I checked my email on Monday and learned that my request for a return/refund was denied because they had not received the resubmitted pictures within 24 hours Do, they not operate on business days like other reputable companies. They do not hold sellers accountable, thus promoting fraudulent behavior. This was my first and my last experience with Mercari. Buyers should beware of this company. They definitely do not operate like Amazon or Ebay. Stay away.

Mercari has no way to override the system as to what they THINK your address should be. I live on an "Extension", and Mercari does not recognize the street name with the "Extension" on it. I contacted them and they basically said 'oh well, it's an automated system and there is nothing we can do, just ship to an alternate address'. While I didn't like that idea, I did really want the item so I had it shipped to my office (an address it does acknowledge that it exists). That being said, I now run into problems with billing. All of my cards are linked to my real address which has the 'Extension', so using the site is now a nightmare. Their customer service leads a lot to be desired. They do not offer any real answers and they don't seem to care either.
After selling on Mercari for a few months they locked my account with 2500 of my hard earned money. No explanation for the reason. They said I needed to verify my identity. After doing that I still can't touch my money. After some review I realized I'm just one of many victims of this scam
I dont know what the heck everyone's talking about. I have sold a couple thousand dollars worth of merch these last 2 months and have had no problems what so ever. Buyers have been great and sellers attentively respond and are helpful of any questions I have e before I buy. People need to realize that in this business there will always be some scammers out there trying to screw you out of money but that's the price you pay for selling. For buyers it's even better because you can return the item if you want. If you buy a used item you WILL receive a used item. I swear some of these posts are ridiculous.

Seller sent me defective merchandise. I asked for refund the day I received said merchandise.
Mercari makes it virtually impossible to get a refund. They ask for at least 8 photos showing the product does not work. I sent the 8 photos, and they write back asking for 8 more. I have had much correspondence with these people and they are as crooked as can be. There goes $125 of my hard-earned money down the drain!
Only spent $11 on a football card, what the package I received was empty. Upon finding a way to finally contact them, which was incredibly difficult as it is not well marked on their site, kind of got the runaround from them they wanted a picture of the package which I sent them that wasn't good enough then due to work I had to not respond as quickly as I should have and they went ahead and paid the guy and let the review for me also. The site is a joke stay very very far away. Never got my football card or my money refunded.
This has to be the worst place I have ever bought from. You can't contact them any way you try. The phone number listed says to leave name and number, and then it hangs up before you have a chance. When you find a form to contact them and spend time writing your comments, when you press the send button a tiny red circle with a line through it pops up and won't let you send. Buy from eBay where they know how things should be done. Been with them for years and have never have had a problem. Stay away from Mercari.
No support at all. I keep getting notices that my packages are over the weight limit & they aren't. I showed proof but I get these generic responses. Today I got a letter they could suspend my account.
This one here is 5.8 oz & I chose up to 8 oz. Clearly within limits but I keep getting same responses back & then a threaten shut my account down!

I just started selling on this site and along the way have learned the hard way on how to make or lose money on sales. First, I thought if I marked it really low the items would sell. Ok, they did but made mistake on postage. I got taken with shipping free, but with low pricing, you don't make anything. Just be like the store and mark up those items, and put in the shipping cost. When asked to promote or lower prices than you have some leeway to bargain with.
Buyer's beware this site sells fake merchandise! I questioned the authenticity of DY bracelet when I first received it. The buyer assured me that it was authentic but that was not the case. 3 days later i ended up in the hospital for a very longtime. I decided to wear the bracelet and it was black. The area that is supposed to 14k turned tarnished as well. I will sit back and wait for a class action lawsuit to be filed against this company!

Not worth the aggravation. Keeps switching from browser to app and then will not take password it's just ridiculous. Trying to enter id etc. another horrible experience. Do not waste your time. Donate your stuff get the tax write off.
They keep flagging my 100% authentic shoes I'm trying to sell. I kept putting them back up, and thinking it was a glitch in their system. Now I have limited access it says. This site is a joke. I tried to call them, and no one there. I tried to leave a message and the phone hangs up on me. Now, they have added a 4% selling fee, on top of 10%? I wont be selling here ever again. EBAY is by far the best place now!
No negative reviews are permitted without having received items and hence the glowing reviews are inaccurate. Mercari is unwilling to kick off sellers who are potential scammers at worse or who are completely uncommunicative at best. Mercari reps would not answer basic questions about transactions. I have spent way too much time trying to get simple questions answered from your company and from the seller. If the seller had simply responded to my first message that she had made an error and that she didn't have the product, I would have gotten my refund and gone my way. Neither ebay nor Amazon treats customers they way your company does.
They lied and said my package was overweight to steal my money. I will NEVER sell anything through Mercari again… their fees went up twice since I was selling with them and now they choose to lie and steal the rest of my money. I weighed my package on a commercial postage scale and it said one pound 0 ounces. They charged me an extra $12 postage saying it weighed 1 pound 1 ounce. I am not sure how it gained an ounce going to the post office… come on this is absolutely ridiculous! NEVER again!

I am the seller of the Vintage Hello Kitty Earring Holder.
My account got closed because they were "UNABLE" to verify an authentic Louis Vuitton bag. Keep in mind, this is an original bag, but just because they were "unable" to verify it, they closed my account even after many appeals. Now today my mom calls me and says her account is closed too because Mercari said she had more than one account, referring to mine which is totally seperate and has been closed since a month already. She created her own account months back to sell some items around the house. But because its on the same address they think its the same person even tho both of our accounts have been verified separately.
I purchased a purse on this site listed as a Tory Burch. It was very obviously fake when it arrived. I submitted a return request and it is been almost two days with no resolve. I contacted the buyer and she does not even know how to accept a return. It's unfortunate I can't pick up the phone and call somebody like with eBay. I now have money held up with a fake purse with no resolve in site. Buyer beware. Don't expect to see your hard-earned money anytime soon when you receive something fake. Knock-off items are prevalent on this site I have purchased three... shame on me back to eBay.
I just had a buyer who requested to return an item because he claimed "the item received was not as described in the listing." Here's the problem: he had not even received the item delivery until AFTER he requested the return. Mercari kept me in the dark the entire time (it took them 10 days to make their decision) until the very end, when they approved the return. That's when I became aware of the reason for the request. This is B. S. I had several pictures (close up) of the front and back of the item, so there should not have been any misunderstanding of what the item was. A person would have either been blind or just plain stupid to not understand what he/she was purchasing. Bottom line? Buyers have no recourse whatsoever when someone wants to return an item.

NEVER BUY OR Sell on Mercari. They support people scamming on their website! If you get a counterfeit card like I did they will not refund you. It was only a $13 card but i buy thousands worth of cards sometimes one card is a thousand plus. Clearly if it was a $1000 card they still would stand by the scammer. This makes them just as guilty if not worse! They give you automated responses. They do not care about their customers experiences. They are the definition of greed. Their excuse is I left feedback. Well I didn't notice it was fake until my buddy pointed it out a few days after. And if you know Mercari they rush you and pressure you to leave feedback fast! Don't support their illegal practices! I hope they go out of business!
