Initially customer service gave me some trouble due to mistaken identity, however the (frustrating) problem was resolved. I must say that I enjoy the simplicity of Mercari. It is a more streamlined method of buying and selling than Ebay.
This web site is terrible. They have pictures of the item but sends you something totally different. For example. The bags are clearly vintage but you receive a brand new fake bag plastic bag. They have so many sellers websites doing this. They are are usually shipping out of Chino, California. You order one thing and receive another. They don't refund money instead they credit.
I was given a 10% off coupon through an email. I followed the email instructions and made a purchase through Mercari. The 10% was applied during the checkout and then I proceeded to the payment portion of the checkout. After my bank account was verified, they automatically charged me the full amount, without the 10% discount. I contacted them several times and they kept asking for the same info over and over. Finally, after over a week of constantly contacting them on this, they said that they simply can't retroactively apply a coupon. I was SCAMMED!

Purchased a Dyson hair care system. It didnt work, took it to Dyson for repair. They advised the item was counterfeit. When I tried to contact the seller, Mercari blocks contact after 3 days. Called them, they say nothing can be done as it is after 3 days. Repeated contact, explaining that the seller is misrepresenting what they are selling, that this was counterfeit only led to the same answer. This is insane, they shelter a criminal with a policy that only hurts the buyer. Plenty of other places to buy in a much safer environment. Stay away

I'm a serious seller on eBay, but use Mercari when eBay is giving me a hard time about an item-- usually b/c they think it contains 'hemp' when it doesn't or something similarly stupid. Listing on Mercari is easy, but I find the actual transaction once the item has sold is a headache. A buyer has NEVER been able to leave a rating for me without having to message me multiple times to say Mercari 'won't let them.' And since you don't get paid on Mercari until the buyer rates you, that's a problem. By the time each transaction is complete the buyer and I have messaged each other so many times I might as well put them on my Christmas card list. I only use it when I absolutely have to, and I dread it.

I ordered dishes from Mercari and they arrived broken. I cut my hand in the package it was so bad. Mercari required a dozen pictures and now wants me to mail them back to get a refund! I do not have a printer at home and they are recommending I go to a library to print the shipping label (our libraries aren't open!). Now they recommend I find a neighbor to borrow their printer. They can't mail me a label because they are an app based company is what the rep told me. It is ridiculous. I have filed a dispute with my credit card company.

Truly I am orry for those of you who have had a bad experiance with Mercari. I found out about Mercari in 2015. First, I was just buying, then i started selling a few things here and there. I'm retired however so i just sell to buy. I also have a ton of fun and get to meet so many nice folks.So on my part, I sure love it

I complained that I never received item. Mercari stated that I did receive item but tracking number indicated lost. Mercari cancelled my account after I disputed charge with cc company.

They make you give credit card information before you even list anything or make a purchase WHY?
I stupidly gave them that information and wish I havn't now I'm worried they will illegally make charges to my credit card. Remember, they are a japanese company, not American. I listed 20 items for sale one day and a day or so later they closed my account for prohibited items - my clothes!

Sold a pair of UGGS boots, excited that someone bought it instantly (within an hour) but received a complaint that they had stain on them (which i posted all photos, not a single stain on the boots) and returned them back. However, this customer switched her ugly nasty boots with mine and customer service told me and my boyfriend that there is NO-ZERO foul play! No customer service help, just received an overall $#*!ed up service!.

Customer service is the worst followed by horrible selling features. I can't put whatever I want to offer to buyers, I must put what mercari suggests which under sells my item. Takes WAYtoo long for items to sell. I sell more stuff on ebay for more than I'm asking on mercari. Avoid selling at Mercari unless you like the frustration. Horrible!

The sellers never send out the items. When you try to contact the seller, the admin will erase what you wrote. Every time I have ordered, I wait two weeks and I never get anything so I always have to cancel.

They provide Authentic Sales. However its not Mercari that scams you. Its the seller. Plus you can always get a refund if the seller does not ship or give you the correct item. Mercari does not scam and is 100% Real

I bought a sosno beam TV sound bar. The seller only sent a tracking invoice. The tracking said my sound bar is delivered in my mailbox. How can a sound bar fits in to the tiny hole of the mail box? I we to support and get help the support will make you rates the transaction and close the case. Even you rated unsatisfied. Don't even buy at this website. Most of the listing are scam. The website protects the scammer not you! My money is down onto the drain now. Don't buy anything from there. Don't buy anything too good to be truth.

I've made a few sales, all good, ship, and then the customer receives the product. But wait...what!? I have to wait for the customer to give me stars before I get my money? Why? Most of my items are used and I don't give returns for used items. I thought this wasn't going to bother me until, not one lazy $#*! customer comes back to leave me stars. I am done waiting an additional 3 days AFTER confirmed delivery. This is the dumbest, business breaking thing in the world. Do not use Mercari, and if you do, may God not be with you.

I ordered a recording device that came with the wrong charger in the box and when I got a charger for it and plugged or tried to plug it in the charging port slid back in device. Finally am able to plug in and it doesn't even work. Mercari submitted their own review and didn't even allow me to write my own and when I tried to put in for a return it goes to an error page! I bought an item, The seller backed out the deal. The money what's taking out of my account. I contact mercari twice and I got the same answer that the money was never taken out that I should check with my bank, that it was my Banks fault. Went to the Bank, they confirmed that mercari did take the money out. The bank filed a complaint to Mercari, now 3-4 days later mercari sends me a notification that my account with them if suspended. Why? If anyone needs to be suspended it should be the seller. I'm just trying to get my $$$ back.

With the very first purchase I made, the seller did not ship the item and was not responsive to a message asking when she planned to ship. I finally canceled the order, but Mercari does not allow buyers to rate sellers who never send the item and so I was not able to leave any fair and accurate feedback about this horrible seller to warn off future buyers. Sold an item and the buyer lied saying they item was dirty and the wrong size. Mercari "verified " that I sent the wrong shirt and sided with the buyer. Meanwhile the buyer sent Mercari a picture of a totally different shirt. I sent pictures of the shirt that was sent with tag and design, front and back proving the buyer lied and they still sided with them. So they don't verify anything nor does customer service help when you reach out to them. I was told to stop messaging them the case was solved. This app is a scam and customer service is a joke. Several other people with these issues. Don't buy or sell in this app. Save yourself the headache.

Don't expect HELP from the Help Center. After literally spending $6-7k over the last 3 months, I was accused of being a liar over two missing packages totaling $16 and $12. Very poor customer support.

Very terrible terrible app! They bann you for the smallest things posibble :( a lot of people scam or cant even be trusted. The worst thing is that the app doesn't even have a customer service number, only an email and they take a long time to respond and it doesn't even help

Should be minus 5 stars. Bought item and did not realize once you place review you are no longer covered for refund. They give you reminders which prompt you to review. I bought phone which had to be activated BUT I wrote looks physically OK but won't know until activated. Went to Sprint to activate and it COULD not be activated due to flaw. I contacted the company and they said too late Out of luck because of review. The site says guarantee if not as described but they refuse and actually and criticized me for attempting to contact seller. I Suggested he take back and try to activate. I offered to pay shipping both ways and IF IT IS ACTIVATED. I think I have been reasonable in my approach but they are steadfast and are not recognizing guarantee due to NOT AS DESCRIBED. I am a 100% Combat disabled veteran on pension. It's only 105.00 but it's principal. They should be forced to return my money. I have been fair and they are unreasonable.
