Initially customer service gave me some trouble due to mistaken identity, however the (frustrating) problem was resolved. I must say that I enjoy the simplicity of Mercari. It is a more streamlined method of buying and selling than Ebay.
This web site is terrible. They have pictures of the item but sends you something totally different. For example. The bags are clearly vintage but you receive a brand new fake bag plastic bag. They have so many sellers websites doing this. They are are usually shipping out of Chino, California. You order one thing and receive another. They don't refund money instead they credit.
Mercari protects unethical sellers. I purchased an item that was listed as new. When I receive it was broken and clearly not new. I put in a request to return and it was denied because I couldn't prove my case! Clearly the seller listed it as new I sent pictures from within minutes of delivery and the burden was on me? NEVER USE THIS SITE

I purchased a item listed as NEW. It came plainly as used without the box, instructions and parts needed to use it correctly. I contacted the seller and they replied that they would send the parts. Mercari has a 72 hour window for returns that I was unaware of until the moment the seller stated. Its past 72 hours so there is nothing I can do about it.
Mercari also AUTOMATICALLY gives the seller a 5 start rating if 72 hours passes and the buyer has not yet rated the seller. You can't change this. The seller waited to respond to me until after the 72 hours passed knowing that he could get away with this and scammed me for $137.50 and I know have a useless item.
Mercari's politely, suck it up buttercup and only resolve was to will give a $20 coupon good for an item over $100 if I used it in the next 30 days.
Now they want me to spend another $80 to help me feel better about losing $134.50. As if I'm that stupid to try again.

DO NOT USE TOO PURCHASE. RULES FAVOR SELLER AND MERCARI. YOU HAVE NO RECOURSE WITH ISSUES AT ALL

I used this app for over a year and never had a problem with anything UNTIL I uploaded a vintage AUTHENTIC Louis Vuitton wallet and it got taken down because I did not include a picture of the date code! This listing was taken down multiple times and my privileges were suspended each and every time! My frustration is due to the fact that the item was authentic, I emailed them to do their research about authentic vintage goods, they do NOT need a date code to be real! Not only that but they deleted my account after I sent this email! P.S. They are extremely hard to reach! F*ck this company.

I was a Seller and for my first go using Mercari, listed a Brahmin handbag that I had purchased for $125, on sale. Mercari platform forced me to list it for $50 with auto price reduction so by the time I had a buyer, the price was $40. A buyer purchased the bag and I kept getting daily notices to mail it within 3 days, which I did but I didn't know I was suppose to click a button that stated I'd mailed the bag. Two days later, the buyer cancelled the sale. No big deal, I thought, I'd just relist it but the bag was never sent back to me. Two weeks went by and I had to dig all around the Mercari Help area to find out that I had 'buyer protection'. There should be a phone number to be able to contact them, but there is, except it's 'not a working number.' Mercari tried to blame me because I hadn't clicked on the 'confirm shipment'. I have used Poshmark in the past and I guess I'll have to go back to them because the stuff I'm selling ain't cheap and I don't like being cheated!

I recently gave Mercari a try. I bought something, then a few days later, sold something. Still waiting for the item I bought. I tried going into my account to respond to the person who purchased item I sold and their system keeps telling me my password is wrong. I've changed the password twice to the one their system recommended and still can't get in. I tried sending a message via their Help center and keep getting an error message. I tried calling and they have a recording saying no one is available due to Covid. Apparently their system is down and they're not even trying to deal with it. I will never deal with this company again. Still waiting to see if I'll get the item I bought and will get paid for the item I sold and shipped. This company just may be a complete scam.

If you want to lose your money get scammed any way possible the use mercari! They have the worst customer service and surely have the worst company structure. Nothing do is professional. Ive lost over $400 dollars with mecari from scamming buyers, and mercari will keep the funds you they make from you selling your products then proceed to not accommodate your best interest. Its a scam!

I have sold many items on there and they are the worst. Their customer service is non existant. The buyers will attempt to haggle you down to pennies where you are paying to ship to them. I CLEARY have it stated where I ship 4-7 days. I have people trying to cancel transactions because I getout of bed and run to the post office to ship at 2 am. When you need their help you are out of luck. The people who buy are scammers and Mercari is on their side. Avoid this company at all costs.

WILL NEVER use Mercari again. They withheld my funds from me (300 dollars) and then later deleted my account because I would not provide them with my SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER for "ID verification". At least give people their money back if you are going to shut down their account. What a scam! And so upsetting because I had bought and received so many nice things on this site. Will eventually be contacting BBB about this because this is a scam site and I want my money they refused to send back to me. I can't believe people are still using this app. I would rate it no stars if I could. I can't believe they ask for info like this. I hope no one is giving it to them because that is something you never give out. Especially to a selling app! What a joke.

DO NOT BUY THROUGH MERCARI! I was called out of town for a few days, so missed the "only 3 day" window to report a deceitful sale of an item that was advertised as "NEW". It was not only used with dried food hardened inside, but the mechanism was broken and dismantled! In addition they will not even allow me to rate or review her to warn her future buyers that she is a fraud! Her name is Crystal Ann - DO NOT BUY FROM HER! I have been buying from all sorts of resell sites for years with wonderful success and supportive customer service to backup their customers on the rare occasion that things go wrong. I cannot believe that Mercari has set up a system that does not protect it's customers and would shield fraudulent sellers.

I purchased a toy right before Christmas and paid alot for shipping to get it here in time. I didn't open within the 3 days you are allowed. (I opened it 1 day too late) I hid it from my kids so they wouldn't see their present and opened it Christmas eve to wrap for my kids. Broken! The seller gave me the response, you have 3 days to open it. The company won't do anything because it's past 3 days. So my advice is open the box asap because they will not help you at all of its after those 3 days
So I am out $30 for a broken toy! Not happy and their customer service will not help due to it being part the 3 days.

Mecari used to be a very good place to shop and sell. But now even when you buy something they tax the shipping as well. You would think that you would tax the price of the item that you're buying. Then you would add shipping costs to it but they don't.

They reply with automated messages, they don't even try to act like they read your replies. They will close the case and leave you stranded. DO NOT USE THIS APP. GO somewhere trusted instead. Look at their BBB reviews... 94% NEGATIVE. It doesn't get much worse than that.

I have not used my Mercari account for a while and decided to login to sell something. I was unable to login to my original account since I forgot my password. I went to "forgot my password" and created a new password but was still unable to login. I then decided to create a new account where I was able to sell. After a while, I tried to cash out and was unable to do so since it says i have an existing account (one that I was unable to login to). My account was then suspended and I am unable to sell things. After contacting Mercari on several occasions, they leave me with a generic response and do not allow me to create a new account or delete one and continue with another one. Terrible customer service who does NOT listen or read about complaints. They only generate generic responses. Unaaceptable.

I purchased a swimsuit and I thought I fit it well because I usually fit well, but it turns out that they dont fit me as well as I expected. I tried to contact the seller, but no section to be found. I also contacted the help center and they told me to take pics of the item which is ridiculous. They said that they help me return the item for the full refund, but they didnt. I feel as thought Ive been cheated from that site. From now on, Ill close my Mercari account and never buy (or sell) items from this site again. They ripped me off and I lost my money. Ill stand up for whats right against them. Horrible site w/ horrible service.

I had over 600 five star reviews, and this was my main source of income as a single stay at home mom. I'm not some scam artist trying to make a quick buck. Mercari sent me an email saying they closed my account and I couldn't transfer my money. Over $1300 that I was saving as Christmas money! I sent multiple messages in the help center, wrote emails and even left a voicemail on their BS customer service number, no response! They were closing my tickets as solved without even responding! They were great until this! And I've read countless stories of them doing it to others, all coincidentally when people get high balances. THEY WILL STEAL YOUR MONEY. I filed a complaint with the BBB.

Not to mention the fact that I just got scammed by one of their sellers and instead of allowing me to return the item to the seller for a refund and getting my money back they told me that I should just resell the useless items to someone else (so I would then essentially be scamming someone else so I could get my money back) What kind of of corrupt website would want me to turn around and do that to someone else and make them a victim too, just to get my money back? Truly disgraceful Mercari! I highly avoiding this website at all costs.

A few days ago I ordered Tupperware smidgets that are unique in color. I received my order today ( very quickly) from Patricia Reinke. With my order I received a nice thank you note and a free gift that I would actually order myself!

I was very unsatisfied with the online website. When you click "buy it now," it typically should take you to a screen to review your order before finalizing it. Mercari does not do this. It automatically sends you to a screen that gives a confirmation number with your order. It is terrible. When I called to get them to use the coupon they sent me via email, they wouldn't do anything for me. I would not have bought anything if I had known they wouldn't let me use the coupon. Very dissatisfied customer.

I just sold a $1500 Herve Leger Dress. The FedEx tracking didnt update so Mercari assumed it was lost cancelled the transaction, refunded the buyer and I got $100 compensation! FedEx then confirmed the item was delivered 2 weeks prior and despite this Mercari didnt care. They told me to try contact the buyer who removed themselves from the site after getting my dress AND refund! Furious I just lost $1500 dress for $100! Mercari should not have cancelled this without checking or investigating first.
On another note I sold a pair of brand new adidas sneakers. The buyer said there was a hole between the sole and Sneaker (which was the actual design of the shoe and was clearly seen on my images AND adidas website, it was a design feature) so they refunded the buyer and I lost the sneakers and my money! Such a joke! Im boycotting and advising my friends to do the same.
Been using eBay for YEARS and never had an issue once.

Disney store has a collector key series. Today is star wars day. Disney put out a star wars key, their site crashed and when it was up key was sold out. The key sold for 12.99. The key then came on mericari by sellers for 100 dollars and up and these sellers had several of them and didn't have it in their possesion yet. This has to be illegal to sell without having the item yet.

I made a sale shipped the day I told the buyer and she canceled while it was in post office, and still she keep my longchamp and mercari refund her money, how nice, I lost my sale and my bag, mercari didn't help me at all. First time I had problems with them.
I couldn't do anything since she keep my item or I don't have a way to contacts her, mercari never send a rerun item slip to her or intercept the package, the told me the package was going to get back to me, and it didn't, she received on her door.

My first order from them never shipped and they canceled it - so I ordered the same 2 boxes again - for a higher price - and the 2nd order arrived with 1 box damaged! The only solution they had was for me to ship both boxes back and get a refund (great) and I could try to purchase them again. I needed the boxes - they match the ones I already have - I've already waited so long for them to arrive, I just want to be done with this project - so what am I to do? Mercari offers no partial refunds - all or nothing. So I kept the boxes - and I'll face the dents to the back. But it shouldn't have been like this.

I've had to have a few rotten experiences to finally learn my lesson. This company is so difficult to deal with, and there's nothing that would qualify as a return…I literally received the wrong item once, another item a totally different color than shown and then another that didn't even work and they wouldn't give me a return on any of the three. It finally got to the point where I couldn't argue with the stupidity anymore, and I just gave up and took the loss. HORRIBLE….BEWARE!

They closed my account because my wife was sharing my account since she got her account closed because she was selling some accessories that had letter "D" on it. She was trying to explain she never tried to sell fake items, she mentioned on the listing that those are "no brand," however Mercari thinks she was against the rules so they earased all her listings and closed her account! After then she was using my account with me and this time we didn't even do anything wrong and we got our account closed just because she was listing some posts with me! They said once you kicked out from Mercari, you can NEVER come back and they erased all the listingd and kick us out again. I had 49 selling total $2500 revenue with all 5 stars reviews! I did not do anything wrong and this how in a one sec Mercari will erase all of your listing and kick you off if anything you did they don't like or even feels like it.
