Initially customer service gave me some trouble due to mistaken identity, however the (frustrating) problem was resolved. I must say that I enjoy the simplicity of Mercari. It is a more streamlined method of buying and selling than Ebay.
This web site is terrible. They have pictures of the item but sends you something totally different. For example. The bags are clearly vintage but you receive a brand new fake bag plastic bag. They have so many sellers websites doing this. They are are usually shipping out of Chino, California. You order one thing and receive another. They don't refund money instead they credit.
I used to sell on Mercari with a 5 star rating, until they gave my product away. I sold a piece of sports memorabilia that the buyer reported damaged (8x10 protective plexi-glass sheet reportedly cracked). The buyer removed the triple layered protective foam sheets (which was more expensive than the $1 plexiglass sheet), took photos without the protective measures and sent it to Mercari. Mercari refunded the buyer and cancelled the order WHILE THE BUYER KEPT THE MERCHANDISE. They responded with, "merchandise was insufficiently packaged" and hazardous to return.
I have shipped close to 100 (93 to be exact) of the same type items (all exact same materials/sizes/packaging with zero issues.
So, if you would like to receive items for FREE, remove any protective measures, file a damage claim stating broken glass along with doctored up the photos, and they will take the buyers word and give a 100% refund and let you keep it!

I purchased an item from a seller but when it was delivered, it was severely damaged. The seller has been cooperative BUT mercari has been more than impossible. I want to return the item, the seller has agreed, but no information can be gotten from mercari for a return. And don't even try to call them. Press 6, press 92, press 64, press 39, goodbye. They don't want you to call PayPal with a problem; they emial you "Call us first." My question: Why? You won't do anything, you offer no help. And I'm out $500.00. DON'T DO IT. YOU'LL BE SO VERY SORRY IF YOU HAVE TO RETURN SOMETHING

The return/refund process can either go smoothly or bad depending on the rep. Sellers can lie or measure their item incorrectly.
Used the app since 2016 (when they still cared about buyers). Most of my returns went smoothly. Ordered from a seller that listed their item as a very popular high quality jewelry company and didnt measure the ring accurately. She sold me a ring she purchased off of aliexpress. I was told to show evidence that it was the incorrect size with a professional ring sizer (me, the buyer). They closed the ticket and I decided to take the loss to give the seller a review. Their policy states that if a buyer does not get refunded they can leave the seller a review. After leaving the review, I was notified they removed my review. That's against their policy. Nothing in my review was disrespectful, inappropriate, or untruthful. They protected this seller and removed her negative reviews. The reviews should be unfiltered. How else will other buyers to know what they are about to sign up for.

I bought this item from MERCARI it did not work i told MERCARI this i was told to see the SELLER said just send it back so i shipped it back gave MERCARI the tracking number then MERCARI Tell me that since they did no tell me to ship it that That i would just lose my money that i paid one hundred seventeen dollars, when MERCARI Is the one that told me to see if the seller would work it out the SELLER kept the item and my money i have nothing! Mercari purposely makes using their support services incredibly difficult. They force you to try and self-resolve your issues with their Knowledge Base articles and do their best to make the creation of support requests hidden and confusing. I was sent a product that was falsely advertised. Given the COVID-19 situation, I was not able to travel home in time to open my package that had been delivered. When I did finally come home past their 3 day window, the product was falsely advertised. I reached out and was told they would resolve my complaint by issuing my a paid for return label. Then they immediately closed the ticket. I was not able to perform the return without the label. I had to figure out a new way to create a support request. A different Mercari agent responded with a generic canned response without reviewing any of the information I left. I realize they are busy but their workers are incredibly incompetent. To prevent unnecessary back and forth, I gave them an incredibly detailed 1000+ word account and documented evidence with airplane ticket itinerary and photographs of the product and the original listing proving the fraud they facilitated. They don't care. They are there to screw you taking the path of least resistance.

Unbelievable. I asked to return a wrong shipment. Instead they said to keep it and gave me credit to use later on Mecari. I asked for a CCARD CREDIT. They are IMPOSSIBLE to reach & the link to this topic on their website will not open. Frustrating.

Too many stay at home moms with a Cricut and scammers selling bootlegs from China on this platform. It also appears Mercari has no interest in being a legitimate selling platform. There isn't a way to block sellers you don't want to see listings from. I've reported one particular scammer, Aloha Kawaii's Store out of Hawaii, who is constantly listing bootleg Sailor Moon figures, but Mercari has done nothing about it and allows the seller to continue to rip people off. She's asking top dollar for fake figures, and never mentioning they were bought from China. She actually lies and says the items were a gift from someone who brought them back on a plane. Who has 15+ of the same expensive gift to resell at low prices for an original, but very high prices for a bootleg? These same items are for sale on eBay, always coming from China, and always more than half of what she paid. The first picture is a fake Sailor Moon figure being marketed as "Rare" by Aloha Kawaii's Store. There is literally no licensed figure of that product. The second picture is all the "Rae Dunn Inspired" items that are search results for "Sailor Moon". No one wants to see your crappy Cricut SAHM projects when I wanna buy toys.

Imagine getting scammed on here by someone posing too be a mercari representative then contuine to harass you too scam you again I even called and asked what are they doing about people scamming on here since they "know" about it I was met with silence it's my first time using the app and I just don't know if I want too continue using it.

I ordered over 1700. 00 worth of product and have been fighting fighting them tooth and nail to get my money back. They sit there and say that they have insurance on your order, but then again if you get any packages stolen they refuse to do anything. I basically was not at home and someone came and stolen the packages off of my porch and even with the insurance they claim you get with the purchase I feel is a scam to make money off of us. I purchased through Mercari, but pay through zip and none of the companies want to do anything. They keep telling me after 60 days of fighting with them that I need to contact the shipping company and go through them. How are they going to refund me? Millions and Millions of packages get lost in transit all the time. I then disputed through my back about never receiving the products and then Mercari is going to tell me that I have to sit there and put it as a valid charge in order to get my money back and then sit there and tell me that I need to contact FedEx. This company is a full rip off and as you can tell from the previous comments they can't be trusted. They know what they are doing and I'm beginning to believe that I was never sent any product to begin with. Now I am out all this money and nothing to show for it. I can't dispute it through my card because they are sending my card company that it shows delivered and it never was.

I paid near $600.00 for a designer bag as an anniversary gift. I did everything right. Stayed in contact with the seller requested a signature. Tracked the package regularly. The day before it was scheduled I called fedex who told me some story about how my shipment was intercepted by UPS. I call UPS and gave them the tracking number I was given and they had no idea what I was talking about. Contact the seller and the app make them aware. I was told to be patient and allow them to work on their end. All automated systems no live person. Each time I requested a live person. I reach out to ceded we're I told that I was not allowed to start a claim this had to be done by the seller. Contacted the seller and was told they could not it needed to be the app. The app later messaged saying that since there wasn't a claim made and that they would do the review on the seller for me and means that the seller would now receive their payment. It's been a week and I still don't have my purchase or my refund. I'm told by the app that I will receive a credit that can be used on the app for 30 days only. Notable this was my very first purchase on the app. I have not received the credit neither do I want too. Also the seller has blocked me! Below you will find photos on my experience.

The only reason they get a 1-star rating is because I could not leave a review with 0 stars. I paid $26 (w/shipping) for a puzzle of a Mustang car. The box was a Mustang puzzle box, but the puzzle inside was a kitten. I initiated a return. They needed pictures, so we had to put the puzzle together – which took a few days to do (since I work full time and we had no picture of what the puzzle was to look like). Then Mercari said it was over their 3 day allowance for returns. They refused to send a return label and THEY rated the seller ON MY BEHALF! – WHICH IN TURN CLOSED THE CASE. I WILL NEVER ORDER THRU MERCARI EVER AGAIN. AND I WILL MAKE SURE PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT THEIR BUSINESS PRACTICES. MY REVIEWS WILL NOT BE KIND.

I am a new buyer to Mercari. I originally attempted to use my Paypal account to make a purchase using my iphone. The transaction would never go through so I was forced to log in using my desktop and pay with a credit card. The seller was very friendly and I received my item within 3 days. When I attempted to confirm that the order was received and rate the seller so that the funds could be released to them, I was unable. I messaged the seller about this and assured her that I would contact Mercari for help with this. They don't offer a customer service phone line so I emailed them and was messaged nearly 4 hours later, with no resolution to the issue. When I logged back in to my account the following day, I could see that the seller had responded to my concern but the site would not let me access or view the response or allow me to message the seller again. All contact between myself and the seller was cut off. Apparently, they were uninterested in making sure the seller was paid. I would say that anyone selling items there is taking a huge risk and wish that I had checked them out myself before purchasing through them.

I wanted to try out Mercari because I was becoming more and more aggravated with Poshmark. Sellers not responding, sending dirty items, sending a man's large after advertising it was a woman's large... etc. So I've now ordered 3 items from Mercari. So far... eh... I don't know. The shirt I ordered came very quickly, but there was a small hole in it that was not mentioned in the listing and the size is a not accurate do to washing shrinkage. The second item I ordered it has taken two days for the seller to respond and ship. Which is ok, but it would be nice if sellers check their emails daily so they can respond to questions quickly. The second item has still not shipped so I can't comment on quality yet. The third item I wanted to contact the seller about sizing and I have yet to hear back from them. I'm beginning to wonder if they are even active on the site still. Sooo, much like Poshmark, this site has the same problems and issues. I can't comment on the site itself in helping with refunds or returns, as I haven't had to experience that just yet. I guess like any online 'yard sale' site, you have to be careful and do your homework before buying... then cross your fingers that you actually get it.

So I bought a item and seller cancelled so I should get a $135 which is what I paid. I paid using my debit card which is where my refund was supposed to go but instead you give me Mercari credit really? So I try to transfer the money to my debit card along with money I made from sales which was only two items but $40 there. That means I should have got $170 and some change back but it won't let me even with my routeing number and all that info. Really so I lost $170 that I can't bget back and here is the kicker I was BANNED as a "Risk" due to only one cuss word which I admit was wrong in doing but was mad at the time and told help center to "F off"

I decided to give them a chance and I posted a few things for sale. I sold a few cheap things without any problem and I said let's put something bigger. I posted a high-end drone for sale and I got a buyer a few days later. Everything went well until the buyer decided to make a return
Pretending he can not find the app to use the drone despite the app being everywhere available on the internet. I accepted the return but upon arrival, there were 2 batteries instead of 4. I contacted Mercari and reported the problem and they told me to contact the buyer but the buyer never return my messages and then I can't send him any messages. These batteries were $250 each and they decided to close the case in favor of the buyer. The buyer never reported in the return message any problems with the batteries. That means he got all 4 batteries. Mercari does not truly investigate any cases because they side with thieves and encourage them to steal more. You can put a thousand pictures they don't care. Please stay away from this site as far as you can. I retracted all my listings and they will never see me again. Read others' feedback left for this site and then make a decision to sell there.

NEVER EVER EVER BUY FROM THAT SITE! I understand some things will workout great but when they don't you will get so screwed over! I would absolutely recommend selling on that site because they at all cost protect the seller which in turn protects their site but they have VERY VERY VERY shady sellers on that site. You are ONLY allowed to leave a review and warn others if you received the product and are happy with it. If you don't receive the item you purchased or received an item not as described you are NOT allowed to leave a review. I will continue to do my purchases with ebay. Those reviews I can trust.
