Initially customer service gave me some trouble due to mistaken identity, however the (frustrating) problem was resolved. I must say that I enjoy the simplicity of Mercari. It is a more streamlined method of buying and selling than Ebay.
This web site is terrible. They have pictures of the item but sends you something totally different. For example. The bags are clearly vintage but you receive a brand new fake bag plastic bag. They have so many sellers websites doing this. They are are usually shipping out of Chino, California. You order one thing and receive another. They don't refund money instead they credit.
Sold and Item and while in transit with the Mercari Pre-paid carrier the buyer cancelled. So the Buyer got the item and I never got a cent. No follow up from Mercari Customer Service. The 2 emails I got only said I should contact the carrier when they are shipper of record. Customer Service seem to bee 3rd grade drop-outs. No response now fr days. No number to call.No Response on Linked in or Email from the CEO. THIS SITE IS FRUAD AND THEY ARE AN COMPLACENT AND AID THEFT!

I am a seller on Mercari. I sold two watches to a customer. Because the shipping had not updated in Mercari's web system, the buyer requested to cancel the purchase of both watches. I reached out to the buyer and told him that both watches and a special holiday gift were on their way. They buyer was excited to learn this and shared that they were grateful to me because they really did want the watches. A few days later payment for both watches appeared in my account with Mercari and then a few days later, the money for one of the watches was deducted. I then began engaging Mercari's support person. She informed me that Mercari canceled the transaction at the customers request. I explained that the request was made prior to the buyer learning that I had already shipped both watches in the same box along with the holiday gift. I further explained, that if I couldn't send the watches,, I would have canceled the order myself. Why did Mercari step in and cancel my transaction? The support person insinuated that I didn't send both watches. I informed her repeatedly that I did. More so, if one watch was received, they both were because they packed together in the same box. I requested management, conference calls, reinstatement of the chat between me and the buyer (that Mercari deleted), review of the package's weight, discussions with the buyer... none have been followed up on and it's been weeks. I need to get paid now. I'm not working and depend on my sales. More so, it's my property and i'm not just giving my stuff away. I need help immediately!

We were sold a stolen phone by kallie18_. DO NOT USE THIS SITE TO BUY ANYTHING! The phone was new and worked for 3 months. T-mobile then shut it down because it was not paid for. My account was suspended because a customer complaint about my shipping method. Before she purchase she knows it will take time to receive her item and she asked a lot of questions too. So the next day, i shipped her order out, and she say how come so fast and start wanting to cancel the transaction. I told her she can return the item to me once she receive it because there is no way i can stop the transiting of the package once it is shipped out. Instead she filed a complaint. And now mercari has favored her and deleted my transaction which is already on its way to her and more to that, mercari has suspended my account. For her transaction, mercari ask me to reroute the transaction back with USPS when it is on its way. If you have worked with USPS, there is no option like that. The only time you can reroute an item is when you use shipping method like Fedex or UPS. I have helped customer with their orders in every way and didn't receive any duplicate warnings or what so ever on my listing as being a problem. I am a 5 star seller and never have problem like this. Since my account is suspended, the customer has received their items but not yet rated me will probably get free stuff and more to that, those orders that is in transit will be free to those customers because mercari has suspended my account. Mercari has stolen my money because all transactions are closed up in favor of all customers? I think this is all bull$#*! with mercari. Literally lost money from selling at mercari $200+

As a buyer and seller on Mercari I have to say that it isn't very seller friendly. One customer tried to cancel the order even after I had shipped and added the tracking info. Mercari sends me and email requesting to cancel in which I hit the "already shipped" button which should keep the order open. The buyer then tried to do it again a few days later and I again hit the "already shipped" button. Well a few days later my order gets cancelled. I am out of my product and shipping cost and the buyer gets a free item. Also there is no way of contacting the buyer once an order is cancelled.
Also as a seller I shouldn't have to wait to receive the money from my order until after the package is delivered and the customer writes the review. On ebay if I sell something I get the money right away and if there is a problem the money can be refunded.
In the case you need to talk to customer service you can forget about it. It's almost impossible to actually get to the page where you can send them a question, it tries to answer everything with faqs which are basically useless when you have an issue.

I made an offer on item on mercari on May 29th. The seller didn't respond to or accept the offer until 15 minutes before the offer expired on May 31st. On June 1st, I received notification from mercari that my purchase would be shipping soon. Two days later, I received an update from the site saying they had sent a reminder to the seller to ship the item. Finally, on June 4th, I received tracking info from UPS saying a label was created on June 1st. As of now (June 8th), the status is still showing as label created, but UPS hasn't yet received the package. I have contacted customer service multiple times in the past week inquiring about the shipping, and then requesting cancellation of the sale. Mercari responded to my cancellation request by stating that they were unable to cancel since the item was already shipped. If the purchase ever shows up on my credit card, I will immediately dispute it as a fraudulent charge.
Now I have done what I should have prior to purchase - I have read the reviews on mercari. They have the worst review of any online selling site that I'm aware of. Their BBB reviews are even lower than their online reviews. If you are a buyer or seller, do yourself a favor and stay far away from this site.

We had the worst experience buying from Mercari. We ordered a camera listed as a "T3I" from a seller and received a "T3". This is a huge difference in camera quality, and the money I paid does not match the camera I received. Additionally, the camera was not received when promised, and was delivered much later then it told us it would be when ordered. This was a problem because we ordered with with plenty of time to receive it before moving as promised. The seller Brittney said she was "out of town" and didn't see the order. When we tried to contact Mercari to fix this issue they said there is nothing they can do because we were past three days of the item being delivered. However, because the seller did not ship it on time, we did not receive it three days after delivery since it then had to be shipped to our new address. At this point we were no longer able to rate the seller, or return the item that was FALSELY advertised! I will NEVER use this site again, and I recommend no one else use it either.

I purchased an item from Mercari. I wasn't pleased with the item once I received it. I mailed it back to the person selling the item, within 3 days as specified. The seller was out of of town for a week, but when she returned, she emailed me to let me know she received the package. She notified Mercari that the package was returned, so I could get my refund. That was 3 months ago! And Mercari stated that it wasn't returned on time. So now, I've paid $200 for an item I DONT HAVE! MERCARI IS A BIG RIPOFF! DONT PURCHASE ANYTHING THRU THIS WEBSITE!

I purchased a pair of jeans on here the size said 13 when I received them the size was a 9. This was early August it is now end of August and I still cannot get an answer on what to do! They did tell me after I showed them what happened I would get a refund and no need to return jeans which I thought was strange but ok. Well as I was waiting for my card to be credited thatis used it never was so I relooked after trying to navigate their app that I got mercari credits not a refund so I did not want credits I would like my money back noting this was not my fault I would never have orders that size of jeans I do know my size. And these are usually a junior type jean. So I tried to figure out how to send them my concern and could not figure out how to just send them an email you have to go through all these different reasons and pick right one. So I just though I would go through PayPal well I picked the wrong category again and they said since I did that they couldn't help me and then mercari said because I opened a dispute that they couldn't help me. Well F me I guess. So they keep saying they are putting me In touch with their payment team but have yet to have heard anything so just beware before making a purchase there! I have plenty of proof of this also. They just keep emailing back the same responses and I mean literally about 20 or so times and still just have credits to use at their site I feel like that is stealing, they are stealing people's money and it's not right! This was the first time and last time I will buy from this place!

He sold me a "new in box" Sony S6700 unit. When I arrived It was out of the box and smelled like smoke. Chris (seller) said he opened it the night before so his kids could watch a dvd. 1: He doesn't have kids. 2: The Sony unit is scratched and smelled of smoke. 3: The remote had a velcro piece, superglued to the back. He place the unit in my car and I didn't get to it until after I got home. My fault for blindly, believing in him. I had some very old batteries, that I told him (Chris) he could have. The batteries were in the back of the car. He put them his site to sell.
When I contacted Chris, and stated the condition of the 'new' Sony BDP 6700, he said it is new. Then he proceeded to tell me the batteries were not any good. I stated, "if they are no good, why are you selling them on your site without informing buyers?" He said he removed them. But, if you go to the site as of 13 Mar 2021, you will see them for sale. I just want to place a buyer beware notice.

One Friday night. I sat relaxing, while on Mercari browsing. I found three items I liked that were reasonably priced so I paid for them through PayPal. I have funds in my Paypal that covered the purchases. The next morning I get up and check my Mercari orders, only to see that they were all canceled. I'm like wtf. Then I notice the message in the notifications, that My account is suspended for unusual activity. Mind you, I have bought on this site many times before, with my paypal, with no issues! I contact customer service, it took a day and half to hear back from them. They asked me to verify my ID which I did. My DL and also a freaking facial recognition type of thing. So I'm waiting to hear back. Two days later, I notice my verification is no longer saying under review, but asking me to verify, again. I contact them back to see what is going on. They replied saying that I used someone's credit card to make the purchases, which is a GOTDAMN LIE! I never ever used a credit card, when they refunded the money back to my paypal. So what card did I use?! They said to be reinstated, I have to fill out a form and get it back to them in 48 hours and also the owner of the card I used, they need their verifIcation too?!? I'm like you know what. F- you Mercari. I was helping your platform out! To accuse me of scamming, then try to put me through the hassle of verifying myself again. Along with finding this mysterious credit card owner. F you Mercari! Your customer service sucks and you lie!

I've made about 45 purchase on mercari and everything went smoothly besides customer service and their return policy about a month ago I ordered a pair of shoes for 214$ that never came and I will say this the seller (kundalsingh) was awesome he was madder then I was and talked to me over the next week about helping me get a refund for a lost package needless to say I never got one well yesterday I received my retro Jordan white oreo 4s when they arrived I simple looked in the box and rated the seller so the seller could get paid well later on that night I took the shoes out the box and they are knock offs did a claim and got told I had to contact a 3rd party to have the 3rd party tell me the shoes are fake are u kidding me just look at the picture the tongues rounded on real Jordan's

I made a purchase on October 1st, from kingston25 on Mercari but the seller never shipped off the item, Macari message them twice to ship the item off, and I message the seller stating if you don't want to ship off the item please cancel. On October 8th Macari Message me stating I can cancel my item for a refund, well I cancel for a refund instead of getting a full refund they deducted money from me when I feel it should have been on the seller's end. PLEASE BEWARE of kingston25 when shopping on Mercari, very very poor seller stay far far away from this page.

Mercari has been holding my money $1485 for over 1 year and they finally sent me a email saying my funds was available so I tried to deposit it. But it was rejected my the bank do to miss spelled name.So I tried to log back on into my account and correct the name on the deposit but I couldn't cause mercari deleted my account. I have no access. I sent them over 10 emails and got no response. Very poor customer service. They stole my money I going to file a complaint with the BBB and contact a lawyer. I just joined today. I thought it was so easy to list items - only takes 2 minutes. I listed about 10 items in no time. That was a great first impression.
But then, almost immediately after listing my items, I received notifications: Warning - Prohibited Conduct.
I was "warned" that my photos were stock. There absolutely are not. I took these photos and thereby own the copyright. I showed imperfections in a Celine bag I listed - how is that a stock photo?
Then, I couldn't wait to get a live person online to state my case. I called *******168 and went through the prompts only to get a voicemail, so I left one with my return contact and the item ID#.
I don't like doing business with anyone that goes to great lengths to avoid contact. This is a business relationship. When I registered, the system had me verify my number, but I had to Google Mercari to get its number. And it's impossible to chat/email/correspond with this company online.
There's a reason this site's reviews are in the toilet. Eww - stay away!

A former Mercari addict, I now wish I could give negative stars! I just had the worst customer service experience in my life, wasted half my day. If you use PayPal to make a payment on Mercari and have your PayPal account set to use PayPal credit as your preferred method of payment, Mercari will still pull from whatever bank account you have listed on your PayPal account instead. See, apparently Mercari has a billing agreement with PayPal and Mercari DOES NOT TELL ITS USERS ABOUT IT when you sign up. You apparently have to contact PayPal directly to edit your billing agreement to use PayPal credit for your purchases. You heard that right. A billing agreement it doesn't inform it's users of. I had my past nine transactions go through a bank account I no longer use and got hit with $315 in overdraft fees because of it. I selected PayPal at checkout on Mercari and my preferred payment method though PayPal is PayPal credit, not checking account, which funds were wrongfully drafted from. Mercari closed our chat conversation when I asked how Mercari informs it's users of said billing agreement repeatedly and they danced around the answer. Sneaky sneaky. PayPal users BEWARE
