Initially customer service gave me some trouble due to mistaken identity, however the (frustrating) problem was resolved. I must say that I enjoy the simplicity of Mercari. It is a more streamlined method of buying and selling than Ebay.

“Seller fraud”

This web site is terrible. They have pictures of the item but sends you something totally different. For example. The bags are clearly vintage but you receive a brand new fake bag plastic bag. They have so many sellers websites doing this. They are are usually shipping out of Chino, California. You order one thing and receive another. They don't refund money instead they credit.

They are nothing but a piece of sh**! I send my stuff through UPS and somehow I got damaged in transit. And they discarded the item I shipped but no one wants to pay me for the damages. So beware of this site!

Customer service is basically non existent. They don't even have a telephone number. When you send a message regarding a problem such as a return, you don't get a response until like 20 hours later. They then proceed to tell you that you have 24 hours to submit more photos for them to approve for a return since they ignore the first ones sent! By the time they get back to you to "approve" a return request, they won't do it because the 24 hours are up! This site a freaking joke! I will never buy anything on Mercari again and am telling everyone I know to steer clear of this horrible site!

They clearly don't care about the client toy receive an item broken in pieces and you send them 10 pictures not good enough. Horrible customer service and they clearly don't care about anyone but themselves don't care if you cut yourself taking ******* pictures.

There is no way to contact anyone live I'm not sure that they actually have any customer service Just some very poor application if this then that type of thing. As a seller, I believe I have been scammed twice. Both times I have tried to reach out to customer service, but was directed in circles there is no live customer service in my area at this time. Most sales I don't have a problem with, but this selling app does leave sellers open to scammers more than any other apps. There is no email to be found, no chat help... it's a pain in my a**...

They do not even deserve 1 star. I sold an item which was then damaged and thrown away by ups. Mecari did not reimburse me. Stating i mailed 2 fragile bowls in a mailing envelope. Obviously they were in a sturdy box with plenty of padding. Since no pictures from ups i have no way to dispute. Why would i risk breaking an item i was selling...

Received broken vase and they didn't want to refund me. Finally, offered a shop credit but I was so worn out with dealing with them and trying to get ahold of them, I turned to my credit card company in order to get a refund. Horrible customer service, no returns, won't answer their phone and very rude! STAY AWAY! See hundreds of other poor 1 star reviews!

I used Mercari twice and first time it went fine. Second time I offered a price for an item, seller accepted my price and I made payment. I guess the seller (a few minutes later) got a higher bid ($2 by the way which is ridiculous I know) so she cancelled me and I received a message my transaction was refunded although I have not seen the refund hit my account yet. When I sent her an email asking why she cancelled my transaction she said she forgot she already promised the item to someone else. Really? It showed up a few minutes later sold for $2 more than my accepted bid. $2 really…how pathetic. Mercari does nothing about this unethical and shady business being done by this seller. Beware of seller with seller name "Auriy"She displays a photo of her with her baby on her profile page. I will never again purchase from Mercari and wish I would have read all their awful reviews before I tried their site. Never again!

I have made three purchases on Marcari. The sales were flawless. But... when I tried to rate the seller two times it said that the transaction has been cancelled. So I'm not sure my seller is getting their money. There is nowhere to contact anybody about this. I wasted 30 minutes trying to fix this. I guess Ill have to wait until the seller contacts me, probably giving me a poor rating.

So! Of I could have just given them no star believe me I would! After ebay went to hell I searched and found this dumpster fire! Started off okay! Made three good sales and had flawless reviews just like my Ebay store! But like flea bay they have zero people monitoring the site! I listed two authenticated coins and they were pulled for not being authentic! So I had a friend from a certain numastic society check the site! Every coin listed there of the same coins I had up were either fakes or reproductions! So he tried to put up one of his coins and got the same response! We both messaged them and they closed our accounts LOL! So honestly folks if you want a good selling platform look elsewhere! They are even worse than the Bay! Good luck if you are gonna try them

So i just recently joined Mercari, and so far everything seems be fine, except for this: everytime i go to change my email or to remove my card it asks for authentication, which is reasonable, but when i type in my password it says it's wrong and when it finally works, it takes me back to my account and not to what i wanted. I have contacted them and nothing has happened. I tried to look at an order i placed and track it, but the same thing happens. And another thing, i logged out and tried logging back in, and apparently my password doesn't work. I, again, contacted them and nothing has happened. It's making me very upset and just want to get back into my account. I did try to change my password, but haven't received an email in order to change it. Anyone else having or have had these same issues? Or is it just me?

UPDATE: I figured out my issue. Apparently my email was changed, although i have to recall of changing it. Hopefully this fixes the issues i'm having

I bought a hpa tank off of mercari. Went to list it a few days later because I no longer needed it and they removed my listing for prohibited items for sale. Like what? I literally just bought this off of mercari. Ive had nemours problems with sellers and buyers. I will be going back to eBay and suggest everyone else do the same for mercari fees are outrageous aswell. Thought I'd give this app a try but it sucks. Won't be back

Go back to ebay. Fees are ridiculous

I sold an authentic David Yurman bracelet on Mercari (I purchased it from a David Yurman store). I no longer have the receipt, but the pictures clearly show the DY stamp. I sold it to a woman who claimed it was fake. She said in her comment before buying that she was going to take a chance that it fit. She didn't ask for measurements. So, she claims it was fake, returns it and gets her money refunded. I spent over 4 hours on emails to Mercari, sending more pictures. They took her word for it that it was fake. I kept asking why they took her word and not mine. I do not understand how you believe one person over the other. My selling history with them is flawless. Seller beware. This company doesn't care at all about the seller. They talk in circles and give you no assistance at all.

The description of the book I purchased said it was a signed copy. There was no signature anywhere to be found. I would have shopped elsewhere if I knew it was not signed for the price I paid. They lost my business.

I purchase from here. The product was not as they said it was. Mine didn't even work. Seller said he will send me new one never came. They don't have a phone number. When you massage them they can't do nothing about people scamming you. Not a good place.

This app promotes fraud. I found a listing for Bose headphones that cost $400 brand new. Someone posted it for $159 on the app sealed. The box looked like a counterfeit and the price didnt make sense for a brand new headphones worth almost 3 times more. So I started questioning the person about the headphones. Why they were selling at the price and if something was wrong. As I was asking more questions I got a message saying the person blocked me. When I went on their page this person had been selling over 20 items that all looked fake and didnt make sense at the price. Like brand new beats for $50. I tried to contact Mercari about the person but they had no report button and they dont have a customer service number. This app promotes fraud and unsuspecting customers are probably buying a lot of counterfeit items.

I've made countless sales, and not 1 issue.
I get paid, and buyers have 3 days to dispute anything after delivery.
As a buyer I have come across a very big issue having sellers ship Items. They are supposed to have 3 days to ship it. If they don't a buyer is to get the option of canceling the order. However, sellers mark. Items shipped (when they haven't), at which point Mercari gives 7 days from the sell date for the item to arrive, before issuing a refund. I currently have been waiting 8 days, a couple days ago I contacted them and they told me to wait until today, at which point, if it's not arrived or started tracking they would cancel. I contacted them and a different rep told me to wait until tomorrow. They keep putting me off because they "take the seller at their word" they shipped it. What about my $ and my value? Extending the date when for no reason?

They do not resolve issues fairly. A buyer bought my new item damaged it (looks like their dog chewed it) they said they wanted to return it, Mercari approved their return and basically said the decision is final. So basically someone can damage a new item that you can prove was new and say that it was not as described and you as a seller have no protection. So you not only lose the sale you lose the ability to sell your item because the buyer either switched the item or lied. I suggest selling elsewhere.

Tip for consumers:
They need to work on being fair when the seller is able to provide pictures that they are being misrepresented by a buyer who clearly damaged an item or replaced the item with an item that was not the actual item sent.

I ordered a bracelet from this site and they sent me the wrong shipping number i had to go to the post office multiple times just to find out the package with the tracking number they sent me was no where near what I was suppose to get. Also that package had the wrong name and address on it. I am so upset and very highly unsatisfied. I even tried to call and email Mercari and no one helped me at all. This is the worst site ever.

I purchased an $18 item that is obviously fake. I was away when it was received and you only have three days to do something before you automatically forfeit your rights, which is ridiculously short. If it's fake, they want you to get it authenticated. WTF. It's an $18 item and I showed them pictures between my authentic ones and the fake ones. They still wanted me to get a statement in writing saying they are fake. It's an $18 item... this is a waste of my time. Go buy on eBay or elsewhere where they provide more support to buyers. Mercari assumes you are guilty until you prove yourself innocent.

Tip for consumers:
Be careful of fake items. You will not get support from Mercari. Don't buy if you have concerns of it being fake and there are a lot of fake items on the website.

I purchased a plate through a dealer on this site. When I open the package I found the plate was broken. The dealer did a really bad job packing this delicate item such that it would've been more of a surprise had it arrived intact. Since I happened to be on vacation when the item arrived I was already outside of the 3 day window of opportunity to request a refund before I even opened it. There is no way of contacting customer service either through phone or email. So I paid $30 for a broken plate and have no recourse. It's really unreasonable to require any action to take place within 3 days of the item's arrival. Really bad business!

I purchased a black denim jacket after asking several questions about the condition. The seller, Thrift Gems, did not disclose that the jacket had been machine washed and dried shrinking the jacket from a size medium to a size small. Additionally, the jacket had a very strong chemical order and I wasn't allowed to return the item because more than 3 days had passed. What a rip off of $42.00. I have deleted the app and will never do business on this website again. Lisa in Denver, Colorado.

I have been scammed on Mercari twice within two months. The first time involved a seller not disclosing that the item was complete. It was sold as complete, but wasn't. My return was denied. Recently, I sold an item and the buyer, swapped out the item for the same, non-working item. Mercari allowed it. So basically, if you want to scam people, Mercari does not care. For those who are looking to sell, be wary. They will not listen to you and Mercari is no different than eBay. Find another place to sell.

Searched on line for children's recordable books, was directed to Mercari, ordered a Scooby-Doo book for my seven year old grandson, what I received was a recordable book that didn't work at all, they sent me a notice telling me not to rate the transaction if I wasn't satisfied, instead I was to notify them within three days and they would look into it. I followed their instructions and they said they would get back to me. The next correspondence from them informed me that I wasn't eligible for a refund, but they would give me Mercari credits. My response to them was, why would I want to do business with someone that takes my money and sends me trash? So far they are ignoring my request for a full refund.

Don’t do it,they take your money and send you trash !

This company or sender sent me a damaged item and refuses to give me a refund. Beware of this company. They are very difficult to deal with and they send you crap and they do not hold their sellers accountable for sending broken or damaged items.

Please be aware while selling on M. They closed my accnt and they said any balance will be held indefinitely 7 minutes later after receiving a letter from my lawyer: they said your funds are now avail. So you know what to do in case you need to get them to act
