Initially customer service gave me some trouble due to mistaken identity, however the (frustrating) problem was resolved. I must say that I enjoy the simplicity of Mercari. It is a more streamlined method of buying and selling than Ebay.
This web site is terrible. They have pictures of the item but sends you something totally different. For example. The bags are clearly vintage but you receive a brand new fake bag plastic bag. They have so many sellers websites doing this. They are are usually shipping out of Chino, California. You order one thing and receive another. They don't refund money instead they credit.
I used their printable postal label and shipped a 535.00 item i sold on their site which the buyer never received. Contacted customer service 7 times only to get the run around from Danielle who offered no help. UPS confirmed Mercari received my package which they never sent to the buyer. Beware and steer clear of these thieves!
I got the same problem today. I have selling on there for 2 month now. Have 11 transaction with all 5 star reviews. They just suddenly shot my account down and hold my balance over $900 from sales before. What should i do? And suggestion? They have no right to do that to your money right? It is my money from my finished transaction sales! How could they do that? And i saw a lot of fake handbags selling on it, of caused the seller marked as"authentic" but you could easily tell it is 100%fake from the pictures, and I did report to Mercari, they dont care, and did not removed the list from them. I m very disappointed about this company, never ever use it again. Recommend POSHMARK instead, more easy to use and the offer free authentication when item price over $500. That is the way to protect buyers and sellers in my opinion.
Customer Service decline the return even though I can prove item is not as described. STAY AWAY from this site, not worth it. Mercari should be ashamed of these poor ratings. They do not care about buyers at all. I will NEVER buy from this site ever again.
Be careful when shopping at Mercari. Only completed transactions can be evaluated seller by the buyer. For example if a seller does not ship your product and you are waiting for several days, this will not be reported in the review for others buyers. And their customer service is probably a bot, because they send the same recorded message for any queries on the same topic.

Everything I have read in previous comments about customer service is completely accurate. Mercari claims they protect the buyer. Mercari protects Mercari. They state they will not release funds until the item is received. True. They don't release it to the seller. They just keep it. I have tried to communicate with what seems like a computer generated response for over a week. Seller printed a shipping label and I haven't heard from since. Instead of getting the funds credited back to me Mercari chooses the sellers method and will not respond back either.

I've been a member on Mercari since 2019. I have experienced some terrible transactions on this site, a few good. The majority of the seller's on this site NEVER respond to questions customers ask about the seller's items listed for sale. Sellers also have bad habits of listing product they no longer have in their possession, also selling non authentic product, such as perfumes. This actually happened to me a couple of weeks ago and I was totally out of my money on a non authentic perfume purchase. Mercari does not guarantee against non authentic product. All these sellers care about is to sell product, no questions ask regardless if stating on their listings "ask any questions", "all questions welcome"! Mercari does nothing to enforce the behavior of their sellers. I'm speaking of the majority of the sellers, however there are some that are very dedicated and care about their selling reputations. Therefore, the best I can suggest is shop at your own risk on this site! Good luck!
Well it is day 4 no response from
Well it is day 4 no response from emails yesterday or today, no answer on the phone today, it keeps hanging up after about 5 minutes. I had talked to someone on Monday about my issue the product i purchased has 2 boxes and only one was sent. I have been asking for a return label since it weighs 50 lbs and NOTHING. Customer keeps promising to send the second box since Tuesday and said they are sending out today. I don't see any help in sight other. Good thing I contacted paypal to dispute the issue on Monday! Going to have fedex pick up the box Saturday and I'm done with this bs company.
I was banned for no reason and they won't even tell me what I did to get banned. I have asked through calling, email and their help center, as I thought the ban was a mistake or glitch. They only respond with automated messages and they don't answer any calls or even call back. It is entirely done by robots. You can get flagged and banned for no reason, and they can steal hundreds to thousands of dollars from you without any consequences. Not trustworthy at all! Beware of this site/app!
I purchased a sweater that was much smaller than the one described and did not match the photo in the ad. Mercari made me send endless photos and measurements, all of which backed up my complaint, only to reject my request to return the item. Waste of time and money. Do not use this site.
Mercari is sneaky. They let you go for awhile and after you invest time listing things - they start to harass you by refusing to let you list more items or edit items already listed until you add a credit or debit card. I had added a vanilla gift card and thought that would be the end of it. Months pass and now they are asking for another card. Seriously? Are they just collecting card data from users now? They are losing money in the States yet keep harassing the few active users they have. I won't buy anymore because I have ordered complete sets and only gotten partial sets, broken glass, dirty clothes and buyers who lie about condition and want refunds even though Mercari says they don't give refunds - they do. I won't buy anything from that website anymore because they have so many awful sellers and fake profiles. But as soon as they get a legitimate user - they just keep asking for more financial information.
Signed up, placed ad-they removed it ASAP for some reason I can't figure out for sure-NO way to contact them-NO way to remove account. Would never attempt to use again or recommend. None of website pages will come up-they say delete cookies-did so, still will not load. Therefore unable to do a thing on there.

No matter what has happened, you cannot reach anyone there--it is frightening! I had someone hack my credit card and order items and the police tried to contact them and couldnt call them. It is an out of control sight with a few honest people on it but because there is 100% NO WAY to reach anyone if you are cheated in any way you are out of luck. Worst app ever :(

At first I loved this app. But then, after I had just sent out three shipments, they flagged my next post as "counterfeit" and said they were terminating my account. The only way to get paid would be to give them my bank account information for "direct deposit". Um, no! And they never gave a specific reason for considering my products as fakes. They had "warned" me previously on other items due to other users flagging them... But didn't give a reason. This is a scam to get your bank account number or to steal your items as they hold your money in escrow. If they terminate your account then they get to keep the cash. So I'm out three authentic designer items worth hundreds and never could get more than a generic automated response.
I sell contemporary and designer handbags. Recently a buyer had buyer's remorse and decided to state that a bag that she purchased from my store was fake. The item came directly from Saks Fifth Avenue and was in no way fake. Mercari completed absolutely zero research and decided to side with the buyer. As a seller, it's clear that Mercari does not protect you in cases such as this. This is how scammers infiltrate the market with fakes. Who knows if the seller will even send the real bag back. After the case is closed, I'll be closing my store and focusing on EBay and Poshmark exclusively. Ebay and Poshmark actually take false claims seriously and support buyers in cases such as this.

I have been selling on Mercari for a few years. Their support staff has gotten really bad lately. They provide no support to sellers! They copy and paste the same message and don't listen to your complaint. Lately, there have been more buyers that are terrible. These buyers blame the seller for USPS delivery problems, high prices, and give low ratings. These problems are beyond the seller's control. Mercari support do not support the sellers in removing these bad unreasonable reviews, including damaging reviews. There are also "Karens" that have become a growing problem as buyers such as Karen Geisler from Matthews, NC and Jill Irvin from Newnan, GA. I won't be selling here anymore due to lack of Mercari support. I recommend selling on other selling platforms that provide more support for their sellers. Hope Mercari goes downhill.

I posted some vintage items and apparently one customer didn't like them and complained. They were pins featuring a little african american girl eating a watermelon, 1940's memorabilia. I'm African American, why allow some historical items and not others. I don't like how they pick and choose what you can sell and what you can't. Then most of the responses are automated it's like talking to a robot. Try Etsy or Ebay instead, not Mercari

I purchased 6 bowls to match a set I already have. When they arrived, they were a totally different color than in their pictures. Mercari denied my request to return the bowls even when I sent them the pictures of the color discrepancy. Lesson learned, stick with companies who have good customer service and allow returns. There are PLENTY of retailers, Amazon, Walmart, Home Goods, Target, Wayfair, etc. that you can purchase online and return!

I bought a Louis Vuitton bag that they claim was authentic. Had it for one week and the handles fell apart and the bag is a piece of crap and Mercari said because I rated the buyer already they can't do anything about it. It's a fake bag and I spent $500 and they told me to go screw my self! Bad bad bad customer service
They advertise wrong sizes on their website and refuse returns after that. They create so many hurdles to returns that it's not worth it to take the risk of receiving a wrongfully described item. For instance they will not accept your returns if you do not send a number of pictures within 24h and they never tell you that. Be extra careful when buying here because you will not be able to return anything you buy.
Worst customer service ever, rude and unhelpful.
As a seller, its not a good platform. They constantly remove items due to categories, the moderators remove items that are authentic and if you go against them, they ban you. I had about 4 different accounts to sell and eventually went to PM full time. As a buyer, I bought only stickers since that's all I trusted to buy lol They also will close your account with a balance and keep your money. That's pretty pathetic.
My one and only listing was purchased but when I went to print the shipping label, it said the transaction was cancelled. I cannot find any information about any of this anywhere. My listing has completely disappeared, it is not under active or inactive listings, ready to list or action required under drafts, and not in the in progress or complete category of sold.
I used this app for purchase for a small time and it that time I did NOT receive 3 of 4 purchases. Sellers just decide not to send items purchased and it's that simple, you contact Mercari and after time consuming back and forth they might cancel it and you're left with no purchase items and a delayed refund. This is NO eBay and that's not saying much.
On the selling end, they have you generate a shipping label and both times my package has been lost in usps transit? The tracking just halts in the middle? So after you do all the leg work of trying to find out what happen, Mercari refunds the purchaser, cancels your sale, says they are not responsible and you are left with no money from what you sold or the item you sold. Total loss and Mercari tells you basically oh well. Never ever using this app again!!
I bought a lighted vanity mirror off of Mercari, a buy sell trade app. Well I thought I did anyway. I paid with my debit card, and including shipping it was a little over $100. Well I have patiently waited for over a month and still no package. I've tried messaging the seller repeatedly with no reply. Then I went to the "contact us" section of the app. (Which is total bull$#*! btw) There is no customer service number, no live chat, no nothing! There is just a box for u to type our your issue and hope someone gets back to u... which they have not. It's just ridiculous. I feel like they helped that woman rob me of $100. I would never recommend this app to anyone!

I recently received a purchase and the items were in terrible condition... nothing like the photos or description. I attempted to request a refund, but was told "Not eligible for refund." So, I went ahead and accepted the package leaving a poor review. Within no time, the seller messages me saying that the item had never been worn... ha, ha! I won't go into details, but it was awful! For some reason, I am not able to respond to the seller's message. I just received the package today, so I am within the time limit. Not good. I'm done. Poshmark is still the best!
The costumer service is the worse and the people that work there seem not to give a crap. This place need to be shut down! Very useful and unprofessional. I rather go buy and sell on poshmark. They definitely respond back to emails and immediately helps anyone out.
