Initially customer service gave me some trouble due to mistaken identity, however the (frustrating) problem was resolved. I must say that I enjoy the simplicity of Mercari. It is a more streamlined method of buying and selling than Ebay.
This web site is terrible. They have pictures of the item but sends you something totally different. For example. The bags are clearly vintage but you receive a brand new fake bag plastic bag. They have so many sellers websites doing this. They are are usually shipping out of Chino, California. You order one thing and receive another. They don't refund money instead they credit.
Terrible place to do business. Have zeros customer service... my bank account was charged with items I didn't order, products being sold that aren't what they were advertised, and you never get phone calls answered, and emails are never returned... when you try to close out your account, that device doesn't work either... RUN away from this website.
I sent an offer to a seller after asking a bunch of questions about their product. They accepted my offer, then canceled it immediately and relisted the item for $210 more. Don't even waste your time. This ap is a joke.
It's great to sell online that is until you make sales and don't get paid. Sold item was rated. Got an email from Mercari starting I had a balance. Nope. Nada. I've been selling on Mercari for over a year without issue's. Now their just stealing my money. No More sellers fees for you Mercari. Closing my account. Someone needs to start a class action suit against Mercari. Crappy Service Crappy Company. Don't trust this company and before doing ANY business with them look them up at the BBB.
Be very careful on this site I was just robbed by a Nicole Kristine Creed from Spring Texas. She ordered a lot of merchandise. Which I shipped together and I am new to the site and this nor know this was not allowed This woman took advantage. She also is a seller as well. She claimed to have not received her goods and was refunded her money.So she is keeping the goods and the money
During this covid 19 my kid is stuck home asked to buy this old school system paid over $100 and never got the item and mercari said they will do nothing because i did not contact them in the 3 days. Wow straight trash stealing from kids.
There's zero accountability when this company has an issue a transaction. Phones don't get answered, emails go unanswered and inquiries thru the site takes 2-3 times to contact only to receive a we can't help you response. Doesn't matter what you find on here. It's crap - look elsewhere. I've made two purchases and both were the worst. Having to dispute with my credit for card this last one who sent me a broken item and Mercari bascially told me tough luck even though I alerted them within the specified time period.

Have not been able to receive product that I ordered.
For some reason, over half the items i buy on mercari do not pan out (Seller never shipped and disappeared, seller sends defective item...). I only made less than 10 purchases so that's enough for me to stop using them. No matter how tempting the price/deal, u'll get more than u paid for! (hold my money for 3 weeks until issuing credit, which takes another billing cycle/month to receive the credit sheesh)

Stay away from mercari
1) no buyer protection: easy to scam. Sides with sellers even with photo proof and its easy to misrepresent and lose money (horrible personal experience with it recently)
2) ugly/ limited site and app design: only allows 4 photos and messaging is restricted
3) Long transactions: takes up to 10 days sometimes for money from both earnings or refunds to appear back in the bank. Also they changed shipping and allowed the option of FedEx Smartpost which takes weeks extra sometimes
Really unsupportive staff
Only site I have ever visited requesting additional verifications for credit card; system would not accept legitimate verification amounts. No way to speak to a live person to resolve this issue :(( ((

Their website says that you have 72 hours to rate a product with it exception for Sundays and holidays. They did not honor that and are only giving me 48 hours to write a product. This is what is on their website "Federal holidays and all Sundays are excluded from this time frame."

I'm sick and tired of the sellers canceling my orders. Do they get a higher private offer? Why not give me first rights to reject? It's obnoxious and bad business! MERCARI needs to tighten this problem up. I could have purchased the same thing somewhere else in a timely manner but I forced to wait to see if the seller is going to flake out. See ya Mercari... there are much better sites that are reputable.
I got an email from Mercari yesterday stating that I was selling non authentic Louis Vuitton jewelry. Guess what? It is authentic! So now I am blocked and when all my transactions go through I am deleted. WTF? I'm going to start buying/selling on another site. Good luck Mercari because you're the WORST!

One of the Bose Companion Computer systems was great. The Other... Oh my, The controller cable was damaged, not by shipping but seller had to know it was damaged and non - operable before packing. So I went on-line to return and the piece was listed as " Stolen " I clicked every button to find the link to return. 1 hour later - Impossible! You can't get an answer. I looked@ Mercaris feedback, pitiful. So I'm out 200+ dollars, Folks please don't make the same mistake, Customer Service Sucks!

I'm new to mercari and thought I'd give it a try over ebay, my two purchases went terribly wrong... first order got lost, tracking said delivered same state as the seller go figure (probably scammed me) and second order was just randomly canceled, no communication to me whatsoever. And now I'm out $60 bucks waiting on mercari's investigation before I can get my money back... its been a terrible experience! I'm going back to ebay.

I signed up for this to sell a Gucci wallet because the fees are less than the other reseller sites. I have not sold the wallet, but get a notice that my account has been closed due to selling counterfeit items. How could they possibly know that it was counterfeit if it never left my home? It isn't and would be happy to show them my reciept from Neiman Marcus. There is ZERO customer service. It's very frustrating.
I bought a lamp advertised as Like New, but got one that didn't work, had a big dent and several small chips. It wasn't the one in the photo and that fact wasn't noted. It had to go back. Mercari doesn't enable buyers to Review sellers who perform badly. And, Mercari's policy is that buyers get a full refund to original form of payment if they receive damaged goods, but they gave me Mercari credits and wouldn't reply to my emails afterward. I will never consider buying on Mercari again and wish I'd read reviews before doing so in the first place. Hard to believe they remain in business, with such terrible customer service.

Closed my account which had 30+ really good reviews. I made another account and they closed that one too (22 good reviews) after I asked for a refund because a seller sold me a damaged item. So they gave the seller a 5 star and their money but won't release my funds of $100+ and a credit, and closed my account, it's ridiculous. This is a horrible app. I wish there was another active platform. Don't use them!
I signed up, and after signing up a friend told me to use their coupon code. Apparently, you can only load coupons when you first sign up... I deleted my account but couldn't make a new account because my phone was already registered or something. Really terrible app and website. Not user friendly AT ALL. Will never be purchasing anything from this website. Just use eBay instead, it's better anyway.
Was psyched to find this seasonal item from christmas and Never received confirmation or any advance communication but money was taken out immediately. I had to search & question (no way to get in touch with seller on this site) for two days until 5 days after I found a message on site stating ONLY "Seller could not ship item" That's it. No reason. So they have $135.00 of mine with a vague explanation of your money will be returned in 30-45 business days. Holy rip-off batman! Out of the blue my purchase and money are gone. This was my first time using Mercadi... and the last. Hope I get my hard earned money back so I can find another pallet.

Purchased an item that was listed as great condition with lots of life left in it.
The item wasn't even usable. Uneducated employee closed the return and left the seller positive feedback. BS responses from the "customer" service team.
Contacted seller and they stated they knew nothing about the item and don't accept returns so wasn't their problem!
I have bought only two items using this app, and BOTH of them were bad. The first one sent me the wrong size of jeans that I bought, so useless. I've sent them back, and who knows if I'll get either my money or the correct pair of jeans.
The second item was completely different than what was pictured, and in the description it was half correct. Once again, useless.
I just sold one thing a few days ago, so we will see if I'm actually gonna get my money or not.
Aside from all that, the code on which the app runs is clunky, I ran into all sorts of interesting problems and errors just trying to upload pictures that are required to return an item. After four different attempts of throwing errors and starting all over again, using different devices, it finally worked... very very time consuming and simply unnecessary.
There's too many apps out there that do the same job WAY better.
A buyer bought an item from me and then had buyers remorse so they reported to mercari that it was not authentic without checking with me or discussing it with me they allowed the buyer to return it it was a very simple case of buyer's remorse a lady bought it for her husband and he was pissed because she paid as much as she did for it mercari is a bunch of idiots! Deleted!

The WORSE help center ever! Mercari replies with Fake Names and wont tell me why they suspended my account. They said its because my bank was investigating. Investigating what? BofA says no such thing. This company is shady. Go to GOAT or EBay. Mercari is nothing but trouble!
Found an IPhone 11 order pro Max that seemed too good to be true, took my chance and ordered one but seller canceled and refunded (as of right now I'm still waiting on funds), seller posted another one for cheaper and when I ordered she did the same thing. She then gave me a phone number to text which I did with no response. If it seems too good to be true, it just might be. Some sellers seem legit, they usually sell items that are similar to eBay, offerup, (market level) but for the cheaper ones just beware. Canceling my Mercari account due to many scammers
