Initially customer service gave me some trouble due to mistaken identity, however the (frustrating) problem was resolved. I must say that I enjoy the simplicity of Mercari. It is a more streamlined method of buying and selling than Ebay.
This web site is terrible. They have pictures of the item but sends you something totally different. For example. The bags are clearly vintage but you receive a brand new fake bag plastic bag. They have so many sellers websites doing this. They are are usually shipping out of Chino, California. You order one thing and receive another. They don't refund money instead they credit.
This site is run by a bunch of lazy reps. They don't read what the questions or comments are. They just reply with generic respond like you are mentally challenged. They deactivate your listing without any investigation or not following their OWN rules when your listing gets flagged for whatever reason. If I were you, I wouldn't waste my time to list your stuff there. There are other better selling platforms.
Found an IPhone 11 order pro Max that seemed too good to be true, took my chance and ordered one but seller canceled and refunded (as of right now I'm still waiting on funds), seller posted another one for cheaper and when I ordered she did the same thing. She then gave me a phone number to text which I did with no response. If it seems too good to be true, it just might be. Some sellers seem legit, they usually sell items that are similar to eBay, offerup, (market level) but for the cheaper ones just beware. Canceling my Mercari account due to many scammers
A buyer bought an item from me and then had buyers remorse so they reported to mercari that it was not authentic without checking with me or discussing it with me they allowed the buyer to return it it was a very simple case of buyer's remorse a lady bought it for her husband and he was pissed because she paid as much as she did for it mercari is a bunch of idiots! Deleted!

Boy, did I pick what I think has turned out to be a crappy company to deal with! I'm talking about Mecari, of course! I chose to make purchases from two of their "sellers" and one of the items arrived damaged, due in large part... to poor packaging. And when I tried to follow Mercar's "rules" regarding filing a complaint, all I feel I've gotten is a runaround, non-working internet links from the website and a bunch of crap! My advice, people? Steer clear of this company and find other alternatives... may eBay or Amazon! Yep... From my point of view, this has turned into a horror story!
Tip for consumers:
Buyer, Beware!

None: the small, metal sign arrived scratched, bent and of no use to me.
Mercari is preventing me from transferring my hard earned money in sales on their platform. Account isn't closed nor do I have any notices. I noticed when I tried to promote an item and I was told I could not. Said activity isn't allowed unless I updated the app and/or verify my identity but the app is already up to date. About 3k locked inside mercari's platform and zero communication due to covid-19. Dealing with this company has been an absolute nightmare and a hassle.
Tip for consumers:
Very buggy App if you're a seller you may want to avoid. ZERO seller protection from buyers.

Application is complete trash
So many problems to complain about...#1. Not able to speak with a human...#2. No way to confirm delivery if item is marked undeliverable...#3. They give your money to seller even if you don't rate the delivery...so it's ripe for fraud! Most sellers are great and honest...but a handful are just scammers!
Tip for consumers:
Don't be hesitant to message sellers if there's any problems.....don't bother trying to get a human on the phone from Mercari....it's useless!!!

This company is literally a criminal organization! They flag and suspend your account stating your selling fake items! When you provide the receipt and authenticity cards they ignore the information and repetitively ignore and respond with pre written excuses and leave you without no options! They make themselves absolutely unavailable for questions and responds through email if your lucky. All for the specific intent and purpose to steal your balance in your account. You can read the thousands of reviews just like mine! They try to break you down and make you give up! I've spoken to BBB I've reached out to FTC waiting for help retrieving my balance of $1306! No help as of yet! Beware of this criminal platform! Absolutely disgusting and criminal company that needs to be taken down!
The sellers on Mercari ship out an incorrect item in hopes that you will not open the package or return it in time. Mercari does not protect the buyer! Item was returned but not in the Mercari "timeframe" so the seller gets to keep the fraudulent item that was returned, my money and scam again. I purchased Roden & Fields and received this. Just shame.
Ive just recently purchased a few things on the Mercari app. Mostly infant clothes and shoes. Things went smooth. Tried to purchase two different crib mobiles for my grandaughter, and they were both "cancelled" by the sellers... weird, but ok, no big deal. Tonight, i went to purchase a baby outfit, and i received a message that said my account has been suspended indefinitely, after, of course, they already took the money for it. WHAT THE? Um, I have no idea why. I use the same credit card, and have plenty of money, so? We'll see if I actually get the refund. I very politely told them to shove it, I like Poshmark better anyway :) moral of the story... believe what you read and beware of these scams. It always seems good at first to hook you. Eventually they WILL take you for whatever they can of you hard earned dollars!
A buyer inquired about an expensive item I had listed. Asked for
Proof of purchase and was given just that. All tags and product still in original packaging. After receiving the product they claim it's inauthentic even though I've provided all the proof showing otherwise. Mercari approved the return without even giving me a chance to prove otherwise and I can't even contact anyone for help. I suspect the buyer wants to swap out my product with a fake of their own since I can see they are a reseller of similar products I sell! Sellers are being scammed with no way to defend themselves. Absolutely unacceptable! I will be taking legal action..
I have been a longtime member buyer and seller on Mercari. And I have sold a lot! In January I sold a lamp it shipped Fedex from MiddletonTn to Chattanooga Tn Mercari claimed that Fedex said the shipping weight was 53 lbs 1oz that was incorrect it was 12 pounds 8 oz I always put a little more than the actual weight so it was 14 pounds and it cost $22. On my post. After several inquiries with Mercari employees on the website they closed it and said Fedex charged 53.1 lbs it cost 342.94 to ship and we owe you nothing. I contacted Fedex two different times and they sent proof of the actual charges they charged Mercari on that tracking number on my package and it was $12.35 so my part of that sale after Mercari takes a big bite out was a little over 277.00 which I never received they still insist Fedex is the one who is at fault. I contacted the CEO John Langerling on Facebook and LinkedIn with No Respond. All the customer service numbers listed are recorded messages telling you to respond in Mercari website. This company is based in Japan with a US office in Palo Alto California and the CEO info says he's based in Las Vegas Nv. I guess my next move is my attorney and I think it is absolutely crazy to have a company that you can not make a phone call and talk to a live person That's just poor business to me. If someone knows how to get a real email address or phone that actually helps please let me know as it would be very much appreciated. Thanks for listening. God bless! Simpsondist15@ yahoo.com

I want a response from Management Preferably CEO John Langerling ! *******@yahoo.com my email address for him !! Thanks Anna
Bought 2 comics for $80 to be slabbed from Brian's comics in North Carolina. Apparently, both went to cgc. However one got a ng because there was a page missing. Neither the seller nor Mercari want to compensate me for the time or the money. I find them patronizing when you spend that kind of money on an investment.
Tip for consumers:
Never use this site. They clowns

Mercari allows counterfeit merchandise and will close out a buyers account for simply filing a claim. This is even more so when its an expensive item that they make a bigger commission on. They have zero customer service and their platform is a joke. If you've been scammed file a dispute with your bank. They need to be removed and shut down.
Doing some on line shopping and came across the item I was looking for on mercai. After setting up the account, I get an error starting "address couldn't be verified". Suggested using the app instead. Download the app and it gets stuck at the same place on three different devices. At this point I just wanted to cancel out everything and delete all info I already given. To my dismay, the app or website had no clear direction on how to do this. Several emails and generic useless answers about WiFi connection latest software and play store crap, hasn't gotten me anything. They still can't verify my location, they still have information i no longer want them to have and still don't have directions on how to be done with this shady company once and for all.
They deleted my account because I have "multiple accounts". When I contacted customer service they were of no use. They did not help. All they said was that their team determined I had multiple accounts. I have a roommate who has the app. I explained that but they do not care. They are money hungry and do not care. I bought an item and the person who sold it was rude. He called me a "$#*!ing $#*!" and told me to "eat $#*!". Mercari removed my negative review of him at his request and he messaged me "I got your review removed, thanks for the cheese (money)". Stay away from Mercari. They are horrible.
The buyer and seller could work things out without the PIA return/refund process, but the site won't let this happen. And there's no way to contact them. All the buttons lead to the same options. I would not sell on here and I'm about to stop buying because it's not worth the headache.
Tip for consumers:
Don't buy large stuff. Returning is a pain, and even well-meaning people don't describe their items accurately
Mercari is a haven for Counterfeit merchandise! I cannot believe all the fake Gucci. David Yurman, Louis Vuitton.
I purchased a pair of David Yurman earrings after congirming with the seller that they were real.
I took them to my jewler upon receipt for insurance appraisal to find out they were fake!
It happened several times with different purchases. Although Mercari touts they supervise this activity, they are doing nothing about it?
I even sent them notes for their supposed "experts", advising them on the tell tale signs to look at on these counterfeit items, but that fell on def ears.
They got tired of hearing from me point out to them all the counterfeit merchandise and closed my account? Buyer beware if you want to buy "authentic" merchandise!

Back to ebay for good. Sold a few coins on Mercari all of the sudden they send me a message saying that I am sell a Prohibited item. I asked them to be specific so I would know what I did wrong. I listed them under Mercari's own categories. The responded with you did violate rules by selling a prohibited item. That was REAL clear to me!
Tip for consumers:
RUN from Mercari, as fast as you can.

I bought a $150 perfume from Mercari and later discovered it was fake. It looked very authentic so I took it in for real at first for I haven't tried this particular perfume before. Later I came upon a real sample and immediately discovered the difference. I tried to contact the seller and their account was deleted!
It has passed the 30 day mark Mercari won't do anything about it. I contested that counterfeit products shouldn't have the same return period as the others. All they told you was how sorry they were and wish me good luck next time. Psst!
I started a dispute from my credit card company and got part of my money back (the rest I paid with my Mercari balance another mistake). Guess what? Mercari started to
limit my account and then going about the deletion. Oh good luck with your wonderful customer policy. P as

People do not purchase from these online thieves. I ordered a non-working camera from a seller and they could not even work in my favor to get my money back. This was my first purchase and my last.
Avoid them at all costs or it may cost you!
Heed my warning, my costly mistake will save you money.
At first this app was good after a while on top of 10% per item u sell they charge a processing fee and I have sold hundreds of items with a 5 star rating and the few times a customer requests a refund regardless of how well u posted the item they dont take the seller into consideration
I purchased a second hand Apple Watch on Mercari. Received it on 12/16, rated them on 12/19 cause I thought I had to... daughter opened it on Christmas and it was locked with an Apple ID. I tried contacting the seller. The response was it was my husbands he forgot, we will call Apple, I'll check my email, try this and this passcode. I contacted Mercari about but of course since I rated the seller I'm screwed. It is unreal that they do not have any buyer and seller protection even after ratings. Stay away from Mercari! UPDATE: since I was unable to communicate through Mercari to provide my PayPal address for a refund, I mailed the seller a letter with all my information. The seller texted me once they received my letter and told me they were refunding me minus shipping. There are still amazingly fair people out there. As for Mercari... not fair.
As a buyer on this app you can find great deals and most of the people are helpful and great. My only recommendation would be to watch for fake products. Some people advertise them as being real when they are an AliExpress special ( nothing wrong with dupes I use them too. Just don't want to pay an arm and a leg for them). As a seller this site sucks. I was hoping to expand my selling opportunities to this site. I made 3 sales first day. Not bad at all! Here's where it gets awful... I'm one for criticism and can take it. But it seems unfair that a buyer can rate you poor without explanation. They received package within 3 days of purchase and received what they wanted. If the item wasn't as expected on my part let me know I can process a refund. But to go ghost and customer service says deal with it is bad business. I think if a poor rating is given an explanation should be required. Now I can go and purchase from competition and rate low to bring their score down.
There is zero seller protection. There is no reason a company that is handling people's money and possessions should not have phone costumer service. Super super shady. They don't follow their own return policy's and have no way of knowing if people are lying. They always side with the buyer and humor you by telling you they will look into it, then 5 mins later they say there is nothing they can do. They are never on the hook for anything. It's a scam. They give you a time frame in which you have to "take action" and then don't respond to your message within that time frame. How they haven't been sued yet (maybe they have) baffles me. Stick to poshmark, you'll be protected.
This is Mercari: The Selling App. The fast and easy way to sell or buy almost anything.
