Initially customer service gave me some trouble due to mistaken identity, however the (frustrating) problem was resolved. I must say that I enjoy the simplicity of Mercari. It is a more streamlined method of buying and selling than Ebay.
This web site is terrible. They have pictures of the item but sends you something totally different. For example. The bags are clearly vintage but you receive a brand new fake bag plastic bag. They have so many sellers websites doing this. They are are usually shipping out of Chino, California. You order one thing and receive another. They don't refund money instead they credit.
Wow! Never use Mercari! A buyer claimed in a review that my item arrived late. I have tracking that proves the item arrived early. Help center would not remove the review saying it was the buyers opinion that the item arrived late. Even though I could prove it wasn't true with tracking. They said they couldn't remove it but would have the higher ups look at it. Then they changed their name to peach claiming to be a supervisor. All the previous messages were then sent by peach though. Incredibly insulting and ridiculous. I wanted to keep my store from being lied about and smeared. Not only did they not help but they lied to me repeatedly in a ridiculous fashion. I've Never experienced customer service that was so insulting and clearly had no interest in helping me. I had high hopes for Mercari but if you're a serious seller avoid this marketplace like the plague. So ridiculous

I was live on Mercari for two days and I was shut down.
I was told my 1950's black Americana salt and pepper shakers were offensive and they shut me down.
I had 4 sales for over $300 and they have stolen that from me
That has been about a month right now.
They wont respond, won't re-open account, nothing
They are still allowing people to send questions and make offers, yet I am not allowed to respond, so they are damaging me and my prospects of growing my business.
This is a very very poorly run business. I can see all the Black breasts and butts I want on their site, but simply cant sell Black Americana salt and pepper shakers
I used my hard earned money to pay for a baby swing that was sold as new but it was not new it was used and didn't work but they would not accept a return and refund the customer service dept just kept giving me the run around. The item came in a box that wasn't even the original box and had scratched all over it.
I would not even try selling on this app they say 3 days to rate or they automatically rate the seller yet the buyer if my watch still has my watch I have not got paid the 189.00 she owes me and mercari has only messaged me twice about it this is wrong and a scam don't waist your time and money or your products mercari is terrible! And no phone number to get ahold of them to fix anything it's a scam!
Tried to return defective item within the hour of receiving it and could not get past info page. No form to fill out to start return. No way to contact them thru help page. Total scam company. Should be investigated by the Department of Commerce and Fraud.
The prices on merchandise is completely too high, and shipping is ridiculous. A lot of the items are, broken, don't work, and sellers want more than if purchased brand new. A pair of wireless earbuds $11.00 shipping, and handling.? Give me a break. Save yourself some money, time, and headache. Go to Ebay.!
I used Mercari for the first time. I received a defective $50 electronic device, but because I didn't know that I only had 3 days to request a return I am stuck with a defective item with no recourse! I will never use this Merchant site again!
Banned for no reason. A couple simple warnings for tagged words or whatever it may be but I actually really enjoyed selling on that site and they gave me no explanation or reason they just said basically I'm banned for life so I'm pretty salty about it
Mercari does not follow their own policy. Under their community guidelines they state that users cannot make statements that are false, defamatory.
They allowed a buyer to leave me a negative review with very specific comments that were untrue and defamatory to my account. They also did not require the buyer to upload photos to go along with their claim. The buyer never contacted me to let me know there was a "problem" with the item. After several attempts, even showing them the specific wording in their guidelines, they refused to remove the review from my profile. They allow buyers to make false claims on an item in the sellers review and do not give a seller any way to defend themselves against false claims. This situation also was one where the buyer did not ask for a return/refund. They kept the item that was supposedly badly used. Cleary a false claim
If they had no problem keeping the item and never had to submit pictures to show it.
I've been doing online consignment for years. I started Mercari after ONE WEEK- and sold a few things but my messages to sellers about trades and sales were being flagged and then they suspended me indefinitely without any warning or notice. I submitted to their solutions desk via email and heard NOTHING back. Their loss. Buyer/seller beware.
The works, non professional no seriousness at all.
I placed an order and 3 days later seller cancelled the order because according to him the bottoms of radio were not working. Then I placed another order, different speller and never shipped and decided to cancell. Never answered to my messages either.

Tried to make a purchase on Mercari... seller contacts me within hours claiming she sold them on a different site (super unprofessional!)... so I tried to buy a different pair of shoes from a different vendor... within a few hours mercari cancels my order and suspends my account... requests a bunch of personal info and come to find out I dont get my money back in time to purchase the present I need to for Christmas... why do they wait to ask for info until after they have your money?... super shady... avoid this site like the plague
DO NOT use Mercari to sell your items. It is a total scam, fraud, and waste of energy. I had over 100 valuable items for sale to which I just deleted. They do not provide an option to change the shipping option and yet they still charge you even when you agree to pay for shipping instead of the buyer. I have not ever used there shipping method and yet I still get charged for it. PLEASE do not sell your items on this site. BEWARE.
As a seller this worries me! I haven't had issues with Mercari and I referred my sister to sell on the app, she loved it, she was brought and sold on this site! So the other night my dad gave her a credit card to purchase shoes for her daughter, she was sent a notice to verify the credit card ( understandable) she got the two items Mercari sends to the credit card and was ready to verify! Well she had issues trying verify this and just like that she was banned for LIFE! No chance to show them this was a legit card and also belonged to her dad! Is this how we run a business? I sell on Mercari and I am honestly shipping my last sales and getting off, that isn't right!
I open up an account with Mercari. Selling a new laptop for $600.00. Then they need $200.00 for activation fee so I sent it to them. They said this was a new policy but nothing was said about all this on there app. Next they wanted $500.00 for shipping fee. I said I only had $370.00. So stupid me sent it to me. Now they want $1000. 00 extension fee. I will be out $1170. 00 because I don't have that. The guy who sent money into Mercari already paid it. They won't refund any if the money. So my only option is to sent this guy my laptop and I will be out of $1170. 00 plus all my time last 5 days trying to resolve this. Never will do business with them again and I will make sure others don't.
All I have to say is they suck! Their over paranoid that your not allowed to use words like Ebay or Facebook or else your conversation is deleted between you and a seller or buyer! You get warnings for the dumbest things ever or suspended! If you have a problem they try and make it difficult to complain to them! When you do finally contact them their answers haven't a thing to do with what your original reason for contacting them for has to do with the subject! They dont honestly know their butts from their heads! I can see why so many close their account and I don't see this company lasting long! Which I hope it does fail too bc they are nowhere in the same class as Ebay!
It was my first time purchasing on their site, made two purchases soon as I paid for the 1st one the seller inboxed me stating they made a mistake listing the item and it had sold awhile back? Wth seller stopped responding and I never received my item. The next seller never even tried to ship the item. I was suspended after doing a charge back. Sellers are still up and selling. This has to be the worst platform for buying and selling please stay away.

No problem with the seller, but I made a mistake with what credit card I used. Reaching an actual person is like getting blood from a turnip. The number I managed to look up online (no number or email on the website) was disconnected no matter what extension I used. Finally contacted them through Facebook. It literally would take a day for them to reply to a message. The person replying hadn't even read the message I sent, I had to repeat myself. (Just scroll up to read the original message!) Finally was told, nothing we can do, thanks for understanding. When I pointed out it said differently on their website, they brushed it off, thanks for your understanding. I understand all right - that I should never buy anything from Mercari ever again.

Very bag app with the worst customer services. Not safe for me as a buyer and you can't get me money as a seller.
Lots of scammers and no customer services help. I think there email is robot answering questions. Lots of counterfeit items with high prices and when you ask the seller they block you. The app take the money regardless if the item shipped or not
I've been using Mercari for over 6+ years until now. Last weekend a buyer placed an order from me. I dropped it off at USPS immediately. Then the next day Mercari allowed this buyer to cancel the order… after I had already dropped the item off and shipped it. Now I'm out the item and my money and the buyer just gets it for free. Mercari's customer service has done absolutely nothing for me. They've told me it's on USPS to route the package back to me. How is this USPS's fault? This is Mercari's fault for allowing this policy where customers can scam people. DO NOT USE THIS APP. They have no customer service. Go to Poshmark! I've never had this issue on Poshmark, their customer service team has even refunded me when USPS has lost my orders. Mercari does not protect their sellers.
I have been a member since 2016 this is a crap site the buyer can get bad reviews because the seller gets the last rating if you have a problem with a purchase and put less than 4 star's the seller can give you 1 star and mess up your buyer score it's not fair and most times the seller won't ship your items with no penilty and you are stuck waiting for ever for a refund don't waist your time on this sight!
So I sold an mk bag to this buyer who is a new member username auikilifi shipped the item and tracking says it was delivered she don't wanna rate me coz she claimed that she never received the item. And it's been 5 days that the buyer is not even cooperating or responding. If u really didn't received the package u should respond and do something in finding it go to the post perhaps. Mercari is a no help at all! And don't wanna auto rate me so I can get my money! The seller should get the money when the tracking says it was delivered to the right address already! I am very upset about this thing...
A**holes. Just all around A**holes. I had been lucky enough to have positive experiences with buyers and sellers. You have a bad egg every now and then but that's easy to take care of. Don't deal with them. But the staff... f them all.
Ordered a bottle of cologne for my husband for Christmas and when I received it it was a sample from Macys. When I tried to get my money back they refused even after I sent pictures! What a rip off and they did nothing to help! Rude customer service very shady company and they deleted my account as if my feelings would be hurt stay away from this scamming site!

Terrible feedback system favors sellers to the harm of buyers. If a seller decides not to ship for any reason and cancels the transaction, the buyer is not allowed to leave feedback to warn other buyers of an unreliable seller. I'm not shopping from a site that lets buyers get jerked around. I'll stick with eBay.

Don't get excited about a purchase until it is in your hand. It can get cancelled for any reason and you have no recourse.
