Initially customer service gave me some trouble due to mistaken identity, however the (frustrating) problem was resolved. I must say that I enjoy the simplicity of Mercari. It is a more streamlined method of buying and selling than Ebay.
This web site is terrible. They have pictures of the item but sends you something totally different. For example. The bags are clearly vintage but you receive a brand new fake bag plastic bag. They have so many sellers websites doing this. They are are usually shipping out of Chino, California. You order one thing and receive another. They don't refund money instead they credit.
THEY ARE A COMPLETE JOKE. I HAD ORDERED SOMETHING SIMPLE TO SHIP. I ORDERED THIS ON 2-20 today is 3-6. I tell them there's no tracking no updates they told me their policy is to wait 30 days. They will not give me my money back. I have messaged the seller they will not answer. I even reported them nothing came of it. I extremely pissed and I have reported them to BBB not that it will do any good either
I am an active online seller and have been doing so for over 20 years. You get absolutely no support from Mercari. Trying to contact them is an effort in futility, they run you around in circles with their worthless help center. To find their actual email address you have to search Google. Their response to any return request from a buyer regardless of how ludicrous is to say your item was not as described and force you to accept the return. Today was my final straw dealing with Mercari. Our company is closing all of our listings on Mercari and highly suggest everyone else does the same. It is only a matter of time before every seller on this platform gets to experience the frustration we experience here.

I have only been on the app for a month and a half. I've made my sales but 4 out of every 5 I get scammed or delivery was made and Mercari instantly changes their shipping status to edited. After providing pictures proof of delivery they still say I provided a bad tracking number. I suggest looking for any other app to sell because this one is $#*!. Then they gouge you of every sell leaving you petty change for sale.
I've made a lot of sales on Mercari but I'm tired of them keeping a big stake of all my items, even if you bump it up to the next dollar "so you can make a little more" you still get cents added to what's yours. At this point they are just stealing from all sellers their percentage and fees are insane. Their insurance also is a joke I had a clear case where it was the transportation companies fault for handling the package with no care, even the buyer stated it and their response was "be careful and package your items better" they were extra bubble wrapped it's insane they will say anything to not cover.
Mercari allows sellers to cancel transactions weeks after waiting ion delivery with no negative reviews possible to the seller. They do nothing. This particular seller cancels half of their transactions yet have 5 star ratings.

After purchase a shipping label was created immediately. After a few days no shipping progress registered. Seller never responded then after 2 weeks they apologized and said they would ship immediately. After another 5-6 days they just cancelled. Mercari set up is the item literally disappears. No ability to give the seller poor feedback. No help at all.

Mercari allows fake Apple products to be sold on their site. Then when the buyer provides documentation from Apple that proves it is a fake, they tell you it is too late and you're sh%t out of luck. Terrible customer service. STAY AWAY!

They stole my money and closed my account its a family owned operation from japan . They evade cooperation when asked several times for a refund like theft, and they need to be arrested. The site needs to be banned from US operating stealing from Americans .
They don't actually listen and just copy and paste answers. We pay all those fees for "protection" but in the end they won't actually provide any protection. I won't be using their app anymore.

I tried to buy a laptop on Mercari. Seller tried to scam me and sent box of junk, it's now been 12 days since I returned the item and Mercari is still holding my money, they won't tell me.when they will be processing the refund. They are just holding my money for no reason. Their supervisors won't tell me more and has been extremely rude

I bought shoes that were seriously defective. But because 3 days after delivery date had passed, Mercari rated and completed my purchase and I wasn't able to return items. How convenient to give your sellers 5 stars for selling shoes that literally fell apart and disintegrated the first time I wore them!

Seriously defective shoes but Mercari automatically completes and closes your purchase within three days of delivery date so you can't do anything about your purchase. And the seller gets five stars from Mercari!

Fraudulent company, asked for my social security number and government ID, just to purchase one item. This company is a Japan based company. Also a friend of my signed up, and within a week his personal identity was stolen, and he only provided his personal information to mercari.

I bought an item and the seller does not respond and the customer service says that they have already notified it and but it does not respond either, it seems like those who sell on that app are scams.

If you buy on Mercari beware sellers are allowed to peddle fake merchandise such as audio equipment from manufacturers that don't and have never existed. The scammer puts fake products in pretty boxes and say open box never used! Gives really vague description! When buyer receives the item and realizes its scam Mercari gives you the run around. Then after a month of back and forth with their customer disservice bots they deny your request for a refund and allow the scammer to walk away with you hard earned! I wouldn't purchase a pack of toilet paper from their site because if you're not careful you might wind up with just POOP NO PAPER!

I purchased a product at Thanksgiving for Christmas…. I didn't think to unwrap it and thoroughly check it for fraud…. When the gift recipient opened it at Christmas, the bottle was clearly tampered with and the product was a fraudulent ripoff. Alternatively the product was extremely expired, but fraudulent ripoff seems more likely here.
I contacted Mercari immediately, and their only response was: "we're sorry, you're too late." So essentially "fraud happens on our platform and it's up to you to perform due diligence on every purchase."
Unfortunately I will not return to Mercari.

If I could give Mercari.com less than 1 star, I would give it negative 5 stars. They allow sellers to post inaccurate and incomplete descriptions and sell unusable items. Their review process is a joke. They have no secondary review if you ask to return an item, and their seller review is not reflective of your experience with the seller. I run a non-profit education and was ordering equipment for our camp to help teach youth STEM competencies. I spent $900 on an item that was unusable. When I asked to return the item for even a partial refund, they told me flat out no, that they require photo evidence...even though I provided photo evidence, screenshots, and complete descriptions of the item. They told me they don't change their mind once it is made up (see screenshot below). This is not a reputable business. I am not only not going back ever again, I will also be ensuring none of my community of young scientists falls for the same scam.

Brought a pair of shoes two weeks ago, used " in like new condition " as they say… it was black with heels. I need it for inside house going downstairs / apartment only. Then I wore it for 5 times total less than one hour. Today I found out the heels was came off and break into the pieces. Of course, contact customer Svc, guess what? I am out of luck, after 72 hours there is nothing they can or want to do by " policy "- which was made by them from the beginning... I ended up paying $ for a pair piece of sh-t that I was never able to wear it again! It's a fraud!
Horrible I was not sent a confirmation of the order. The order was placed on an email address that was a backup address (not the one used to set up the account but any Mail still comes to same inbox) orders was said to arrive before Christmas but since it was not shipped until 6 days after order was placed and paid for, along with the fact that no confirmation was given and no tracking information was given I was forced to re purchase elsewhere to insure a little girl got her Santa gift. Mercari"s response was to say they were sorry but to wait and see if the tracking info did not show up and file again January 17th. The item arrived on Saturday
Two days before Christmas. Mercari will say they are sorry and then ask for your email address by writing to the email address they are asking for, your telephone number, shipping address, all information they have already. It is a stall tactic in my opinion. This was the first and LAST time I will use Mercari.

Detail: My item was deliberately damaged and altered by the buyer. My item was in like new condition and functioned perfectly without any errors or issues. My lens now makes a buzzing sound and does not function properly at all. The buyer broke my lens and then returned it. My lens as in perfect condition when listed and now it doesn't work. She claims that the item was "damaged in transit". This is a lie. Mercari refunded the buyer despite the deliberate destruction of my property. Mercari refuses to compensate me for my damaged property. Mercari does not protect sellers and its platform is riddled with scammers. Do not use Mercari! Share this everywhere. Mercari is not a valid platform for selling.

Mercari is a criminal company riddled with scammers. They DO NOT protect sellers at all. Do not use Mercari. Do not sell via Mercari. Your items will either be stolen or damaged. Delete your Mercari account and do not use their platform for anything. Warn others about Mercari and in the case that you lose money and property. Seek legal support to sue Mercari.
Buyers can repeatedly cancel for no reason and still be issued a refund, your shipping cost is not refunded. Really bad customer service, your money isn't released until the buyer decides to rate you, unlike ebay.
Mercari says no returns except for not as described. My buyer changer his mind 20 minutes after I posted and said he was sending it back. Lied about condition. I'm out 35$ postage. They've seen my last money.
I sold an item to someone on mercari. They got their shoes. My money still hasn't even been deposited into my account. Still, my stupid self decides to purchase something for this seller. I get home from work thinking whatever i purchased would be there after work since usps told me it was delivered and the app notified me also. Guess what? No package. Make sure to use ebay only. Everything else is garbage.
Mercari makes sellers fill in a W-9 form even if they didn't reach $600 in sales, they prevent sellers from sending offers or accepting offers. Also, they put shipping expenses as your profit, although you basically do not see that money and do not profit from them because they buy labels for you. Also, there is nowhere on the dashboard that you can see total gross sales earnings (those with earlier mentioned shipping and fees). My net profit is $370, revenue is $450, and gross is $560 (I found out during a call with a representative). I tried to accept an offer for $4 + $4.99 shipping and Mercari doesn't let me do that. WTH? Do you need a calculator or what? It's still below $600!
This is my first year with Mercari, but I hate it. And they also took all my points!
