I would give it 5 stars, but they added seller fees on top of paying taxes. A $9 item would earn you $3. Seems so unfair. But other than that, my items sell fast and I have made quite a bit selling on here.

This web site is terrible. They have pictures of the item but sends you something totally different. For example. The bags are clearly vintage but you receive a brand new fake bag plastic bag. They have so many sellers websites doing this. They are are usually shipping out of Chino, California. You order one thing and receive another. They don't refund money instead they credit.

The website gives you two days to review the product after receiving, the product I got is for sure fake. But I realized that after two days, the website gave the seller 5 stars automatically after two days.
Looks like there is lot of scamming happening on this website.

Tip for consumers:
better to stay away, can't trust the sellers :)

I listed an item using mercari's own shipping label.

They since changed their weights and costs on their labels, but they did not update everybody's listings. They also didnt tell the sellers that is was their job to do this either.

I sold an old item, but i couldnt use the mercari label, as it was not not heavy enough. I shipped using my own label, but even thought I DIDNT use their label, they WOULD NOT refund me for it.

It's a greedy scam. AVOID!

This place is a complete ripoff! I ordered something from them and it took longer than expected to get it and when I did I didn't want it. Tried to return it and was denied. I will NEVER order anything from them again!

Sent an item. I paid UPS for extra packaging. Buyer returns claiming damage. Buyer tells me it was just the item in the box. Mecari claims they reviewed it and "it wasn't as enough protective cushion as it needed." So the buyer claims nothing but the item and a box, and Mercari claims it needed more cushioning in the existing packaging. It can't be both. Somebody is being dishonest, and based on this information, how can you justify a return without approving shipping protection on the item? This entire site is a hustle and allows scammers to thrive. Attached is proof of Mercari's statement and the buyer's statement.

Don't use this website https://www.mercari.com/ I bought something off this website and this site protected the deadbeat seller and allowed them to stay on their website. Seller listed one item on multi-sites and sells this one item twice on two different website. She may have listed on more than two websites. Mercari will not let me contact the seller or leave feedback for the seller. They still show the seller has 100 percent positive feedback - their feedback is misleading because they only allow you to post positive feedback. They don't protect their buyers.

This site is total BS! Use eBay. Amazon or even Walmart.com. I bought an item BECAUSE Marcari offered me a $10 coupon. Not only did they not apply it correctly but the item arrived POTAGE DUE ($5.26) and the item was NOT as described! Wish I had read these reviews first. Be smart. Stay clear of Mercari.

Horrible company and customer service. I sold alot on there quick thought it was good site then it all went down the drain fast. I purchased a so called brand new in the bag boutique Halloween dress for my kid from user 2littlefeetboutique on Mercari. The dress came with a big hole in the back on one side and on the other side had been stitched and was all bunched up making the entire back of the dress uneven. It was clearly used and not new. This user claimed she would accept my return and was so sorry. Well Mercari asked me for pictures 2 different days and I sent over 10 of them and they denied my claim stating I didnt send enough pictures fast enough. Wow what a total scam of a company on damaged and defective merchandise being sold and they even saw the email from this woman saying she would accept my return. BEWARE OF MERCARI

I ordered a pair of shoes from Mercari, that were too big. The seller states that it's a woman's shoe and it was obviously a man's shoe. I try to return the product due to the fact that it was way too big. They did not care to help me or to come up with a resolution. They said they will not give me a refund and I'm going to have to keep the shoe. I returned the shoes and they said they did not care, that they will not give me a refund. It was the worst experience I have ever had with any company. They do not care about the consumers, only for their profit! Please do not shop here it's a bad website to shop with. The worst experience ever!

Tip for consumers:
DO NOT SHOP WITH MERCARI!! BAD EXPERIENCE AND THEY DO NOT GIVE A REFUND!!

I was using mercari for a few weeks and everything was going fine then unfortunately my package was not delivered even though the post office tracked it being delivered... Later I found out the package was delivered to the wrong address. After reaching out to mercari, one of the customer services reps keep stating that the package was delivered and didnt want to hear anything else from me therefore i disputed with my credit card. Mercari suspended my account. The next day the post office located my package, went to address to pick up and delivered to me. I felt it was completely unfair to be blame when it wasnt my fault. I was left with no other choice to dispute. Please be cautious with mercari but there are other customer based websites better.

Very, very disappointed. I have made several purchases. A few were good but a few have not been good, items of smoke, items not in good shape. I guess just bad purchases.
So I made my first sale. $5 to ship with a $8.50 profit. I put in my information and wait and wait. 2 weeks later I get a message the account information isn't right... they deduct $2 from my profit. So now 2 weeks ago I up front ship for $5 2 of products already worth more than the measles $8.50 profit and now I have $6.50.
So I delete my account and say forget it.
Overall experience is horrible.

I ordered a used Tablet of what should have been good expensive quality. A product arrived and I accidentally did not open it for two days. When I did, the tablet battery was completely dead. I charged it up, started it up and it was not what I ordered. It was a cheap, poorly working substitute. The next day, Mercari sent a note saying that 3 days had passed and the seller had been paid. I contacted the seller and the message was - WTF do I care? - I was paid. The message from seller and Mercari was basically - sorry you are SOL. I was a victim of seller fraud and Mercari washed their hands of it. From my perspective, they don't give a crap if you have been cheated once you miss the 3-day window. Once funds have been transferred to the seller, it is over folks. My feeling is that they actually do not care if they deal with cheating sellers. There are also cheating buyers out there and I feel sorry that they are stuck with that.

Me my mother and my sister each had

Me my mother and my sister each had accounts. We all sold different stuff. We were all banned because of having multiple accounts? Even though we are aeperate people who provided seperate bank accounts and social security numbers. I am now banned and can no longer sell on there site... I continue to get emails saying do not ever create an account or we will keep your money indefinitely. I would never recomend to someone just for the way they have treated my family. I am so disgusted with them.

They don't have a phone number to call and when you send them a message with a problem they literally send the same generic response over and over. I asked a question, got a generic unhelpful response, asked to speak to a person, got the same generic response. I am on #8 of trying to get help specific to me with the same f***ing response that doesn't help out or answer my question at all.

I admittedly did not read the instructions and listed a gift card. They allowed it since someone immediately bought it. Everything went downhill from there. The buyer claimed they did not receive the card, which had a tracking number. I filed it with the Post Office and they told me the buyer does this all the time. I went back to Mercari and they had removed everything on the listing and were of absolutely no help. They refunded the buyer's money so I was completely out of the money for the gift card as well as the 6.70 postage. Lucky for me, I got some very nice people at the store to assist me in canceling the card. I sure hope the buyer tries to use it and at least gets embarrassed for being a thief.

You only have a 72 hour window to return an item. The return process is very cumbersome and unfriendly, to the point that they probably hope you just give up. If you do manage to get to the "Submit Request" button, you get an error message "There was an error, please try again"... and again and again.

Returns are not easy, perhaps impossible

The most unpersonnal and unpractical business making it very difficult to understand how to return items. After a delay of 3 days you can't return or exchange. They send you tons of vague emails to add to the confusion. To avoid by any means

Shipping protection! Wow! Why do they even have it for sellers. They never side with a seller. I'm a five star seller on five platforms and have nothing but trouble from mercari. Do not think about listing there. They will take and take and take your money.

Their return policy does not protect sellers. Once the buyer returned the different item which was not the seller shipped to the buyer. Mercari determines to refund the buyer. If you sell on Mercari, you have to be very careful that the unqualified buyer exchange the item and then return for refund and you lost the money and item. Watch out! No trust of doing business on Mercari.

I bought from a seller named Jema from Tennessee and she sent me a piece of wood in a box. So there was proof something was sent. She got paid even though the system is that they are supposed to get a review first. She said she was going to handle it, but Mercari closed it out and said I reviewed her and she got paid. I sent them pics of the wood she sent and packaging to dispute it and they said I left her a review which I didn't. It just closed out and said I reviewed it. So basically my money is stolen and she got paid and it is a scam they run. Stick to more reliable places like amazon rather than these weird alternative marketplaces. -Jane Kim

Tip for consumers:
Stay away. You can easily get your money stolen from sellers. There is no protection. They can send you bogus things in the mail and use the tracking number as proof they sent you something. Then the case gets closed out and Mercari only offers a discount on your next purchase. You will not be getting the item you ordered.

Amazon and Ebay its better than Mercari. Mercari website it's suck. I will never order or buying to this website again. Because my experience to them. I never have experience like to the Amazon and EBay. I bough something to this company. The day I got my item and same day I decided to return. They told me they don't wanna accept the return and they gonna refunded my money. It's only 3 day item with me. I been trying to call them and emailing buyer and the customer service. All most a week. They take so long to reply to my request. They bull$#*!.

Sell 2 items and they refund the buyer after I shipped the item!
Never get that money!
They also block me :) But they think :) The resin for suspension was cuz I was selling Persian stuff.
Racist App/racist App / racist App!
Guys go to the app store and left a review on the app!

This is the most terrible selling company in the world. They ban you for no reason, they won't talk to you, they just take all of your listings down and kick you out. They are very strict and watch your account like a hawk. Please don't waste your time, they ban you for the dumbest reasons,,, just sell on Etsy or eBay, They are better platforms and wayyyyyy less of a headache. Trust me, Mercari does not want to see you be great.

I have been selling on eBay and Etsy since the 90's. Since I have been selling on Macari, my items receive much more traffic than the other sites and I often sell the same day I list. The shipping is also much less than other sites so I can offer my items for less and the fees are less than half of ebay.
Macari also will not let you rate a buyer until they rate you, so feedback builds up fast. Thanks Macari, you seem to have it all figured out!

They have falsely accused me of something I have not done. They will suspend your account without telling you about the problem and will keep your funds (if you are a seller). When I try to contact them, they will hit me with the same answer. Do not use this app if you don't want to be scammed.

On Mercari if a seller decides not to ship an item for weeks to the buyer there is no justice for the buyer, but a refund. The buyer is not allowed to inform other potential buyers the seller will not answer messages and not ship the item. This is not good business practice. On EBay you can give a negative rating for a seller that ghosts and does not ship an item (and receive your refund). Other than this bad policy Mercari is a good place to buy.

Communication between buyers and sellers is crucial.

I have purchased many items and only had a few seller problems. It the dishonest sellers that make the buying experience sour. Mercari needs to allow negative reviews for buyers when sellers decide not to ship the purchased item.
