Initially customer service gave me some trouble due to mistaken identity, however the (frustrating) problem was resolved. I must say that I enjoy the simplicity of Mercari. It is a more streamlined method of buying and selling than Ebay.
This web site is terrible. They have pictures of the item but sends you something totally different. For example. The bags are clearly vintage but you receive a brand new fake bag plastic bag. They have so many sellers websites doing this. They are are usually shipping out of Chino, California. You order one thing and receive another. They don't refund money instead they credit.
Without a way to report fraud, requiring reviews as soon as you accept a shipment, not being able to properly test or evaluate products, and general 'no refunds' policy. It seems like Mercari as a platform has been designed from the ground up to enable and facilitate scams.

I contacted Mercari because I had an unknown charge on my credit card statement. I talked to one person to the next about wanting a refund on an item I never purchased. Each one of their associates wanted me to confirm information for an existing Mercari account. Such as phone number,
Email and Shipping address. After I repeated over and over I did not nor have I ever had an account with them, let alone ever heard of their company. I've also sent over a screenshot multiple times of my bank statement. That's ok because I've contacted my bank to dispute this charge and I'll continue to write bad reviews on different platforms about this company because people need to hear what kind of shady business this is. This company has done absolutely nothing whatsoever to be helpful. How many people do I need to speak to and repeat myself and information to until they actually refund me?
My first purchase on this website I bought an item I had long been searching for and the seller immediately cancelled my transaction.NO reason given. Very disappointing. A contract had been made and summarily broken without so much as a reason why. Amateurs.

I sold two dining room chairs through on Mercari. They would not allow the transaction to happen. I wrote to them and they didn't respond. In essence Mercari blocked my sale. Steer clear of this company
Mercari has turned into a disaster for sellers. They added additional seller fees. Unlike several other apps they haven't figured out how to negotiate rates for shipping. I sold an item and when I weighted prior to listing then USPS said it was over a bit. They charged me but instead of charging me what USPS would have they rounded up to the nearest pound. Mercari allows you to pick a label by pounds and ounces. I took the same Amazon box to the post office and asked them with the weight mercari claims my package was and the rep stated it was 8.50 to ship but mercari insisted it was rounded up. Which means they are over charging everyone because they are only basing shipping in pounds.
Not only is their shipping ridiculous their customer service is equally not as helpful. Just stay away from them

Bought a rice cooker. It arrived wrapped in plastic bags and tape. Upon cutting the tape off, I noticed the item was dented. I immediately filed a claim with Mercari with photo evidence of the damaged item. They denied my claim and won't give my money back. I deleted this app and will never EVER buy anything from these scammers. BEWARE!

I've been a seller on Mercari for approx 2 years. I have over 70 5 star reviews. I purchased a Chanel bag to resell for $1,600. When the package came it was stuffed with wrapping paper and no bag. I contacted Mercari and they offered me a $1600 credit to use on Mercari. I financed this bag and have to continue making payments on it so told them I don't want credits, I want a refund. They refused and sided with the seller, issuing them their full payment for the bag. I've now contacted American Express and am starting a charge back. Do not sell or buy from this website unless you don't care about losing your money. I will never go back and will stick to Poshmark.

The most unprofessional site. The support team applies rules as they feel. I guess they have underpaid not well trained employees that dislike Mercari as much as I do. Poshmark or EBay work way better for buyers and sellers.
I purchased a pair of supposedly authentic Apple AirPods Pro. At first they worked for the first couple of days but I was having weird issues. I took them to the Apple Store and I found out they were fake. If I looked them up online, the serial number showed they were authentic. It turns out that serial number was used over 50 times. I called Mercari and they were extremely rude and absolutely no help. Do not buy anything from Mercari. Their items are fake and their customer service is beyond bad. Thank you so much.

Received an item in the worse shape than promised from a very smoky house (so bad, I would not even donate it, it is in a really bad shape) and support cannot do anything about it. Moreover, since I did not write a bad review first and contacted the support and buyer hem first giving them an opportunity to fix it before writing a review, I let go apparently of my right to write a review. What a nonsense! Terms and conditions are one sided and pretty much on the seller side. Use e-bay, poshmark and other sites not to be in the same situation as me

A user on Mercari purchased my item. Immediately after receiving it they requested a return. I never received tracking or the money for it. They do not pickup the phone or respond to emails. I basically got robbed for my merchandise and Mercari did nothing about it. I'll be filing a police report and a civil case against Mercari. Stay away from doing business with them. I relisted my item but it's been days and I have not gotten a response from anyone.
Bought a sports hat with Velcro closure on the back. Hat arrived and the Velcro piece does not close properly rendering the hat useless. Wrote to the seller and platform. Seller never responded and platform administers denied my request for return.
Don't ever buy from this company before reading their very limited return policy. It can easily be abused by sellers. You have three days to return and if the seller writes their description in the right way it is impossible to return anything. The customer support is terrible. There also appear to be very serious issues with sellers not getting paid or getting their products returned.

I received a pair of shoes today that so strongly smelled of mildew that I had to put them on the back porch because the shoes could be smelled throughout the entire downstairs of the house. I immediately filed a request to return the item, following all of their requirements and was simply responded to with the statement ' your case has been closed '. I was then ghosted when I wrote back to requested further explanation and reasserted my desire to return the unusable item. Buyer beware that this site may not grant you a return even in the most cut and dry situations. Negative stars rating, if that was possible.

Customer support closed my account due to an aromatherapy item that was listed as FDA and it was not. They were extremely rude and very unhelpful. They had no apparent reason for closing my account. One of the worst experiences I've ever had.

I have found that it is predominantly filled with counterfeit goods, far worse than eBay and Amazon by a long shot. The platform is inundated with a wide variety of fake sneakers, counterfeit designer eyewear, watches, clothing, and even fake AirPods. It's like a haven for counterfeit products. Their customer service is particularly abysmal, providing almost no protection against the proliferation of counterfeit items. They often require buyers to obtain third-party authentication proof to process returns, even for products that are clearly fake. For instance, Apple would not provide a certificate for an item purchased outside of their official channels. It's perplexing why the U.S. Department of Justice has not taken action against them.

I purchased ear pods. Within 2 days they would not hold a charge. I kept emailing Mercari But no one would reply until after my 3 days was up, meaning I cannot return. I kept emailing them because it would not let me rate it But again nobody got back with me and they rated it themselves which released my money to the cellar so I could not return. My item was used a few times and is now in the garbage because it doesn't work.

If mercari is closing your account and not letting you transfer your funds report any charges from Mercari If you purchased anything recently asap! They really hate that and they will always lose against credit card companies! They stole $80 from my account so I reported $400 worth of charges from them and got it all back with Amex! Someone should sue them
I ordered a CD from Mercari using a credit card. They withdrew the funds immediately and then emailed to say the item would not be sent because it was damaged during packing. But they would give me a "free" CD to make up for it. I asked customer service to just return my money. They emailed to say they wanted a photo of the item and an explanation of how it was damaged. I took a screen shot of my confirmation and their email saying the item had not shipped, attached it, and sent it to them. I also called with the same message but no one called back. Hard to tell whether they're criminals or just incompetent.

But immediately after I rate the seller the reported the device stolen and amazon disabled my device and replace him with another device. I told Mercari about the scam and they didn't even read the complaint.my point is they get the three days ratings before pay right what are they doing to prevent this type of scam. Now I have a device that don't work whilst the seller have my money and another device from amazon. Mercari is not safe they don't protect the buyer
I made a purchase that was delivered damaged. The seller confirmed it was damaged but it was not provided anywhere in the posting. When I asked for a refund she went non responsive. When I went to customer service they essentially said there was nothing they could do. Stay far away from this company. They are set-up for money only. They knew they have a seller who is selling fraudulent merchandise and still do nothing. They closed the issue without resolving it even though they knew it had yet to be addressed. The closed it on their own.

It seems the people watching over items for sale do not follow the same criteria for all sellers, deactivate items often without proper research, this site makes millions of dollars a year and has very little consideration for its sellers that are making money for it!
I ordered a picture frame. Seems simple enough. They sent me one with the wrong dimensions, no glass and the stand was bent and didn't work. It was like pulling teeth to get my money back. All they offered was site credit. Then they had the audacity to write a good review for the seller instead of letting me write a review. Very bad business!
