Initially customer service gave me some trouble due to mistaken identity, however the (frustrating) problem was resolved. I must say that I enjoy the simplicity of Mercari. It is a more streamlined method of buying and selling than Ebay.
This web site is terrible. They have pictures of the item but sends you something totally different. For example. The bags are clearly vintage but you receive a brand new fake bag plastic bag. They have so many sellers websites doing this. They are are usually shipping out of Chino, California. You order one thing and receive another. They don't refund money instead they credit.
So u call about items that a buyer sends back destroyed all u get fro Mecari is basically tuff luck and hang up on u also there postage is way off so when the customer receives their item and has to pay more Mecari has the nerve to send u a threatening letter for the thieves this is a great app
I bought two things, they got the money from the credit card, and cancelled the transaction by themselves, and they are saying I have to wait 10 business days for my money to come back. I don't even know if they are going to return my money, this app has to be delete.
Shoes were badly worn when recieved but in the description they are listed as fairly new they have spots on them and the pictures doesn't show any of what I saw when I received them I feel ripped off! And I'm having difficulty recieving a refund Bad business

Not my favorite website to use, Ebay, Poshmark and Etsy are 100x better. If you ever forget your password, good luck resetting it as they never send a reset link to your email as promised and that's the only way you can reset it, I had to make a new account. Not a user friendly website to use, frustrating for customers.
Dishonest sellers abuse the short returns window, sending used items advertised as NEW and gambling that the buyer will not process the return within Mercari's 3 DAY return policy. Then Mercari's return process is so lengthy that it is difficult for the buyer to complete the return within the 3day window! Then after return is complete and your refund is processed, Mercari does not allow the buyer to rate the sleazy seller and rates the seller positively! Un fn' real! Mercari needs to be fined or shut down for unfair trade practices!

Worst site I have ever used, I sold an item and when it got returned it was not even the item I sold. When I went to open up a complaint some generic reply was sent to me stating my account is closed now and I would not be refunded for the stollen Items. Than when Trying to call I kept getting told through an automated service to email them.

I received a response from Mercari stating unless I withdraw the dispute I filed with my credit card company for the charge from Mercari they have black listed me from the site. They said unless I with draw the dispute and prove to them that I did I will never be allowed to use their site. Threats appear to be their business practice and also allow their sellers to do the same.
Ughhh, terrible customer service by an employee name Kim V. This person did not even try to remotely help me with an issue of receiving a purchase that had a defect. Instead, this person just kept telling me about their return policy like a robot using a formatted script because that is what they were taught without even considering any other factors that may be involved. Beware of purchasing anything from Mercari and God forbid you have any problems and have to contact the customer service/complaint team because you will not be heard. Kim V should not be in customer service as she is a liabilitly and will continue to perpetuate the poor customer service rating that Mercari already has. What a poor representation for this company. Mercari obviously does not listen or read the complaints from customer, hence Mercari's low customer satisfaction scores. Do better!

I sold a rare playstation game and used their Mercari prepaid shipping using USPS. I packaged and shipped the game within the 3 business days. USPS lost the game in transit and Mercari says I wasn't protected because I didn't follow shipping protocol. What? This did not make any sense. I later found out that the pre paid shipping label was not insured. Mercari is a cheap dishonest company with terrible customer service. Going back to using Ebay because I would have been protected!
What is the scam?... hedging their bets with multiple listing of the SAME item on many platforms.
1. Lists TONS of items, gets paid, never ships item and does not reply to messages, hopes buyer will not message Mercari, seller keeps money.
2. Lists items on Mercari, in addition to Ebay, Amazon, etc. Cancels your Mercari order if the same items sell for a higher price on another platform.
This how the scammers of Mercari con buyers. These low-life scammers 'sell' you an item. The buyer pays. Then after 3 to 5 days the buyer will message the seller asking for tracking information. The seller does not reply to the messages from the buyer. One to two weeks after no reply, buyer sends a complaint to Mercari. A few hours later the buyer receives the "cancelled order" email. Takes up to one to two weeks for the refund.
Ipad seemed to work the first 3 days. Then the glass screen came off and the touch screen hardly responded! I bought the warranty, too. No response from the ShiSh Corporation, which has no website, or Mercari! This is a lost I will have to eat!
I have over 200 positive reviews. I was asked to trade and denied due to mercari rules. The next day my account was deactivated for 24 hours because the word TRADE was mentioned in the exchange. Hundreds of scammers and dishonest people on the site and they do NOTHING. What kind of customer service do they employ_ another time they held up a direct deposit because someone disputed the item after they had rated and released funds. Although the item was $250 in question they held up $350 that was coming to me. Ended up getting resolved but a week passed before I got my money. Mercari is dishonest and scammers themselves.
Purchased item arrived broken, filed claim via Mercari they rated the customer on my behalf. Tried to contact no response. Filed PayPal claim. Paid myself to mail item to Mercari. I won the case. I got banned. Thats the whole story folks!

I've been using Mercari for 5 years, I recently ordered a pair of 40.00 shoes that never came. They just told me to call the police. They used to protect there buyers, they don't anymore if you don't get it they don't care. Just use EBAY they will protect you.
It's so annoying. I will never going to use it. I ordered to buy something but I have to be away from home when the thing is delivered to me. So I want to contact them or the seller to send it later like few days later. But there's no way to contact or let them know. It's like talking to a wall. I am sure there's a lot of fraud because we can never contact the customer service or the seller to talk about the product they are selling.

I purchased a pair of sneakers (Nike Panda Dunks) From a seller in February of this year. I came to find out about 3 months later that the sneakers were fake/counterfeit. I reached out to Mercari on several occasions since because I did in fact spend $170 on the sneakers that are FAKE (fake panda dunks sell for $20-$30 on DH Gate) and they will not do anything about it whatsoever. The seller can keep selling fake items and they will not let me return them. They also will not allow me to change the rating I left for the seller. They're pretty much allowing this to happen and they're not protecting the buyer in any way. I am disgusted by this company and will never purchase

If i can give this app zero stars I would. Way too many scammers and absolutely no protection for the seller. Unless you like getting ripped off and scammed please stay away. Once I get the shoes I bought and I'm able to rate the seller I will be deactivating my account, and Mercari you scammers you can keep the money you stole from me and that lying scammer of a customer can keep that $50 chemise she stole. I am officially done with this lack of customer service and your rules that let scammers run rampant in this app ripping off honest people
Beware of selling on this site! This use to be a great place to sell things but now they've started scamming people on shipping! Keep your receipt at drop off. They will almost always try to charge you shipping overage when your item is under the weight and you will have to dispute it. It is up to you to prove the weight and it takes days to get it fixed! This app has went down hill and is no longer a safe platform to sell on.
I ordered an item on Mercari sold by BestArkDeals. It was advertised for $60 with free shipping. When the item came, it was with $8 postage due! They must do this on a regular basis as they even have a section for "Why was I charged for overdue postage?" in their Q&A. This is intentionally misleading.
I order a soap/lotion caddy. It arrived July 25th while I was out of town. I returned home July 28th and opened the package. After filling the dispenser with soap and filling the lotion dispenser I had a hard time screwing the lid on the lotion container. Then, the top came off and I realized the lid had been glued on. And, to make matters worse lotion oozed out of the stem. Apparently you have three days to write a review and/or ask for a refund. Mercari gave my purchase five stars. I contacted them asking that the review be changed and they refused to help me. Lesson learned. Buyer beware.

All of these Chinese companies are taking the western world to the bank with their cheap products! I ordered a bedding set a year ago. Never received and showed sitting in Bulaliccadan somewhere for 6mos. Customer service replied once with "We are researching" and never answered me again.

Ordered from a Mercari merchant. Never received my product. Difficult to contact customer service. Customer service was not very helpful and actually closed my case as "resolved" without getting my product or a refund.
I sent the wrong item on accident and refunded the buyer. I went to email the buyer but mercari turned off the chat and now I can't explain what happened! I've emailed mercari TWICE and get a stupid response about the buyer has been refunded.
