I would give it 5 stars, but they added seller fees on top of paying taxes. A $9 item would earn you $3. Seems so unfair. But other than that, my items sell fast and I have made quite a bit selling on here.
This web site is terrible. They have pictures of the item but sends you something totally different. For example. The bags are clearly vintage but you receive a brand new fake bag plastic bag. They have so many sellers websites doing this. They are are usually shipping out of Chino, California. You order one thing and receive another. They don't refund money instead they credit.
I ordered a backpack for my daughter for Christmas that the seller said was brand new. As soon as I opened the box I was overwhelmed with the smell of cigarette smoke. When I asked to return it because of how bad the smell was, Mercari said that they can't accept returns just because of a smell. They only protect the seller not the buyer and now I'm stuck with an item I can't use. I will never use Mercari again. They only care about the sale going through and not protecting the consumer. Horrible customer service!

Do not use this website. They only care about the sale going through. If you are unsatisfied with your purchase they do nothing to resolve the situation and keep saying thank you for your understanding. How condescending. In other words, you're just going to have to accept that we will do nothing for you. I will never order from them ever again. They truly are another company that only cares about having the sale go through, and once they have your money you are out of luck for any help.

It said it was delivered by USPS but never received them called USPS and talked to representative and was told that according to them item was delivered to a address in my city but not my address and item weighed 2.20 ounces (it weighs10 pounds). Contacted company. They sent email stating I would get a refund. But I did not.

Mercari has been a reliable site for me. Never had any problems buying stuff in the past year. Got hoodies and shoes from there and been pretty reliable for getting my items. Nothing to shotty happened to me yet. Some other people might be just dealing with a hole sellers who try to scam anyway they can. But the site its self? Its manageable and I have been able to get a refund easily. The items don't exist forever unless they are really still there. So unless things change; its been a reliable site.
I ordered TV ears from a seller on Mercari paying $42 for the item said to work. It doesn't work at ALL, and after THREE days, I can't return the item or get my money back. Worse, after 3 days, Mercari reviews the seller FOR ME with 5 stars. Either the seller lied that the item "works well," or the shipping killed the item. Either way, defective items should be able to be returned. The blurb to sell the item said it was returnable, but obviously that isn't true either. I'm very disheartened that Mercari is so unfriendly to those to whom they sell.

My item arrived while I was away, and I was not able to review it in the allotted time, so they reviewed it for me. As a result the sale was final. The item was identified as new but the seal was broken. This is false advertising. They did nothing to help me.

Buyers beware if you purchase items from Mercari and is canceled afterwards and relisted. You don't get your refunds. You get a run around about it will take so many days to get your refunds or they didn't charge you but in fact you are charged on your bank account and never received refund. Got ripped off big on many items.

It's a buyer beware definitely. If you purchase and it's cancelled then the seller relist the item I didn't get my refunds And just got a run around.

Not my favorite website to use, Ebay, Poshmark and Etsy are 100x better. If you ever forget your password, good luck resetting it as they never send a reset link to your email as promised and that's the only way you can reset it, I had to make a new account. Not a user friendly website to use, frustrating for customers.
Shoes were badly worn when recieved but in the description they are listed as fairly new they have spots on them and the pictures doesn't show any of what I saw when I received them I feel ripped off! And I'm having difficulty recieving a refund Bad business

I sold my laptop on Mercari so I could buy books for school and Mercari sold it to a scam. I didn't get my money nor my laptop. Becareful do not sell anything on Mercari. I have all the emails from their customer service and I basically looked like a joker to them.

So the whole situation is someone bought a laptop from me and I took the laptop and the charger itself to ups in Greenbelt. The manager (Mr.Sang)himself was the one that packaged the laptop and charger and I paid $19.08 for it. Even though the label was made by Mercari. When the laptop got to the buyer, the buyer claims he did not receive any laptop but rather a Micheal Kors jacket in a damaged box. And it’s kinda confusing because them based on the ups data on the package it shows the buyer signed for the package and claims he received a wrong item. So I file a police case (Case number PP*******0698 )on it and ups also did their investigations. Ups manager email Mercari support including Erwin from Mercari who turned a blind eye to the whole situation. Ups further sent email of them packaging the laptop and charger and included a receipt of the package to Mercari support. I know there’s a saying “customer is always right” but not when Mercari support Erwin turned ignored to listen to the truth. So when the returned package came I took it back to ups and the manager took pictures of the box and said that was not the box they placed the laptop in. And besides the returned box is from amazon. I sent the receipts and pictures of all the details Mercari support needed to prove that the buyer is lying. And funny enough I have never sold an item on Mercari for someone to complain on the item. I even booked a flight back to Maryland because I was in medical school in Florida and I showed Mercari support that I’m going home to follow up with this issue. And the truth is the buyer was lying and got away with not only my laptop but the money as well. And because of this I can never work with Mercari again. I’ve been a loyal and fast responding seller on your app. But I don’t like how you treated the issue. Thank you. All the receipts and evidence have been shown in our email. I bought two things, they got the money from the credit card, and cancelled the transaction by themselves, and they are saying I have to wait 10 business days for my money to come back. I don't even know if they are going to return my money, this app has to be delete.

Seller AJFunkin on Instagram and Mercari is a scammer. He posts a lot of items he doesn't intend on sending. Then you send him messages he dont respond. He sells collectibles and Funkos. Beware of him. He will tie up your money then just not bother to reply, why post if your not planning on selling? Or maybe he doesn't have the items. He cancels a lot to which makes me think he's looking to find the items in similar conditions as the pics. That's all I have to say is some sellers are just out to make a quick buck or mess with you and then wine about their collections. Well we are out here too bro. Treat people with kindness or respect and quit showing off on Instagram we all know your trashy scammer.

Dishonest sellers abuse the short returns window, sending used items advertised as NEW and gambling that the buyer will not process the return within Mercari's 3 DAY return policy. Then Mercari's return process is so lengthy that it is difficult for the buyer to complete the return within the 3day window! Then after return is complete and your refund is processed, Mercari does not allow the buyer to rate the sleazy seller and rates the seller positively! Un fn' real! Mercari needs to be fined or shut down for unfair trade practices!

Worst site I have ever used, I sold an item and when it got returned it was not even the item I sold. When I went to open up a complaint some generic reply was sent to me stating my account is closed now and I would not be refunded for the stollen Items. Than when Trying to call I kept getting told through an automated service to email them.

Ughhh, terrible customer service by an employee name Kim V. This person did not even try to remotely help me with an issue of receiving a purchase that had a defect. Instead, this person just kept telling me about their return policy like a robot using a formatted script because that is what they were taught without even considering any other factors that may be involved. Beware of purchasing anything from Mercari and God forbid you have any problems and have to contact the customer service/complaint team because you will not be heard. Kim V should not be in customer service as she is a liabilitly and will continue to perpetuate the poor customer service rating that Mercari already has. What a poor representation for this company. Mercari obviously does not listen or read the complaints from customer, hence Mercari's low customer satisfaction scores. Do better!

I received a response from Mercari stating unless I withdraw the dispute I filed with my credit card company for the charge from Mercari they have black listed me from the site. They said unless I with draw the dispute and prove to them that I did I will never be allowed to use their site. Threats appear to be their business practice and also allow their sellers to do the same.
I sold a rare playstation game and used their Mercari prepaid shipping using USPS. I packaged and shipped the game within the 3 business days. USPS lost the game in transit and Mercari says I wasn't protected because I didn't follow shipping protocol. What? This did not make any sense. I later found out that the pre paid shipping label was not insured. Mercari is a cheap dishonest company with terrible customer service. Going back to using Ebay because I would have been protected!
I have been buying and selling on online resale platforms since dial up. I can tell you that Mercari is by far the best one. I have been with Mercari since 2016 and have had nothing but outstanding customer service and excellent experiences. I recommend Mercari to everyone I know. I've made over 100 transactions and any issues I had Mercari immediately resolved. Mercaris customer service has always responded within 24hrs. Any negative reviews I believe are due to self error. I couldnt be more happy with Mercari. Its by far the most trustworthy resale platform available.

Ipad seemed to work the first 3 days. Then the glass screen came off and the touch screen hardly responded! I bought the warranty, too. No response from the ShiSh Corporation, which has no website, or Mercari! This is a lost I will have to eat!
I have been a customer since 2018 and when I went to buy a ps4 for my grandson in another state they cancelled my order flagged as fraudulent credit because of address. Instead of looking at my order history that shows I have bought things before and sent them to that address they just cancelled it. Trying to talk to a person on the phone is impossible and the email or message they act like they cant read and understand whats going on. I have been trying with no luck to explain that this is me and its my credit card. While they may have good deals they dont have good custermer service your on your own.
What is the scam?... hedging their bets with multiple listing of the SAME item on many platforms.
1. Lists TONS of items, gets paid, never ships item and does not reply to messages, hopes buyer will not message Mercari, seller keeps money.
2. Lists items on Mercari, in addition to Ebay, Amazon, etc. Cancels your Mercari order if the same items sell for a higher price on another platform.
This how the scammers of Mercari con buyers. These low-life scammers 'sell' you an item. The buyer pays. Then after 3 to 5 days the buyer will message the seller asking for tracking information. The seller does not reply to the messages from the buyer. One to two weeks after no reply, buyer sends a complaint to Mercari. A few hours later the buyer receives the "cancelled order" email. Takes up to one to two weeks for the refund.
This online site has zero protection for the buyer. I purchase received a Patrick Ta Major Dimensions eyeshadow palette. The packaging was in excellent condition and the palette was secured so well that you could throw it and the palette wouldn't be affected at all. I wish I could post a photo. So I made a claim with Mercari, sent them all of the photos they requested of the palette and packaging. One week later my claim was declined because they stated it could have happened in shipping, mind you- there wasn't a dent, tear, rip or damage to the packaging. Nope, seller made out with my money. The pictures below show the palette and packaging. The one pan in the palette that was completely shattered I cleaned up and salvaged as much as I could.

If your purchase is damaged in any way, if you receive a replica and not the authentic product, it does not matter, the seller will win no matter how many pictures, videos, etc. that you provide, you will not receive a refund for your purchase. This I promise. Shop at your own risk. I’ve had this and a problem with half used beauty products. My loss.
