I would give it 5 stars, but they added seller fees on top of paying taxes. A $9 item would earn you $3. Seems so unfair. But other than that, my items sell fast and I have made quite a bit selling on here.

This web site is terrible. They have pictures of the item but sends you something totally different. For example. The bags are clearly vintage but you receive a brand new fake bag plastic bag. They have so many sellers websites doing this. They are are usually shipping out of Chino, California. You order one thing and receive another. They don't refund money instead they credit.

I lost $75 when I made my 1st purchase. I returned the defective item. This took me awhile as customer service via email only. Only way you can leave a review is if you accept an item. And if you use Paypal to try to get funds back they state since you did not try settle thru them they will Not return funds. DO NOT USE MERCARI, RIP OFF ARTISTS.

My account got suspended for no reason and Mercari told me to verify my account via ID to get unsuspended. I did exactly that and the vitrifaction failed. Now $179.10 is stuck in my account! I'm obviously going to open up a trustpilot and bbb complaint but also you guys never gave a release date for my money. Even if my account got suspended you guys can't keep the money forever. Why was I never emailed a release date for the money and why did verification fail!?

They refused to release my money stating they suspect my selling items are unathentic then trick me to provide my SS and Driver license in order for them to release my money. Once I provided, they suspend my account and hold my money for 90 days even though I provided proof that my selling items are authentic, I even have satisfaction comments from the buyer. Then they said in order to release my money, i will have to provide provide proof of purchase of all of the items I sold on my accounts. Who in the world would have receipts of all "USED" items you sell on here? This request is ridiculous. I've been requesting protesting information and they didn't seem to want to respond, every email take 24hrs to reply and they select the information they want to respond. Horrible customer service.

Mercari sucks when it comes to sellers! They have no protection against scamming if your item is lost in transit they will cancel your transaction and you will lose your product and money, do not I repeat DO NOT sell on mercari app!

If I could give mercari zero I WOULD DEFINATLY. I went to the post office to ship my bag. But the buyer never received... This was my first time selling and my LAST. Pure garbage. U are way better off selling on letgo.

What a bad experience purchased an item from (sweet style O Mine) told me they shipped it set me a tracking number never moved week later PayPal refunded me the seller never responded to my messages after they told me they sent it and macari took their damn time and answering my messages finally they did the last day and I received a refund a blocked me from leaving any bad reviews for the seller which obviously somebody else will get caught up in the same nasty Web of lies the seller will give them (sweet style O Mine) stay away from mercari bad news

I was selling an old phone, so in the heading I put, A Call From The Past. The idiots said it was abusive miss conduct, morons, I couldn't do anything then, going to delete my account and to heck with them!

I placed the order in good faith and was excited when the shipping label was created the next morning. However, there were no additional tracking updates. When I messaged the seller to check on the status, I did not receive a reply. As soon as I messaged again (16 hours later) requesting an update by noon Eastern time, I immediately received a cancellation message, and that left me unable to leave feedback on the seller. When I look at the 5 star ratings for the seller - most of them say "Transaction complete - this is an automated
Message by Mercari". Additionally, there are a lot of no star ratings that say that the seller cancelled the transaction, or they appear to be very generic. This makes me suspicious that this is not a real seller. Again - very disappointed in how this was handled, and that I cannot leave a review to warn other buyers. If I had not stayed on top of the shipping tracking, it would have passed the window for me to cancel. However, I did not want to cancel. I really just wanted some type of communication regarding the status of my item. I would not recommend Mercari to others

Easy app to list sell and print shipping tags i have 163 sold items and i had only one problem with a buyer.
Cons is that you dont have direct contact with mercari but if i ever need to tell them something i write a msg to mercari on facebook or by sending a request
Other than that i am a happy seller

Why oh why when I put in a SPECIFIC size or color in the search bar, does it show me everything under the sun that has NOTHING to do with what I asked for? Such a waste of time and effort to click on each one to find it is NOT the right size. And when I put I in the color "cream", I get every color there is? I don't bother with this site any longer. Prices are unrealistic for used items and shipping is prohibitive to the cost of the item. I can do better with Marketplace or even thrift stores!

My recent transaction has been especially exasperating because I needed fast shipping. I was assured by the seller's profile that she is a QUICK and RELIABLE shipper, but was forced to discover that she is totally UNRESPONSIVE and that Mercari refuses to provide a refund so that I can purchase the item elsewhere. The FTC needs to crack down on this business for its false advertising and refusal to provide refunds for goods not received.

Use PayPal to increase buyer protection.

Shop elsewhere. They say they stand behind the merchandise... they don't. My items arrived with 3 of the 4 banana boats shattered. The only way I could get my refund ($25) was to pay RETURN SHIPPING OF 25,-50 FOR 1 undamaged Banana boat.
No way on the app to indicate damaged goods
No phone number
No email address
Paypal had to intervene, however, they don't charge the seller for return. I am now the prous owner of the most expensive vintage Banana Boat on the face of the earth.

I sold on Mercari. I made 186.00. I had this in my account and got a hundred reasons why they couldn't deposit my money in my bank account. Later because I couldn't get my money in my bank, I decided to let my girlfriend spend that 186.00. Mercari didn't take the money out of my existing account, they took it out of my bank accout that they could not manage to put money in. They cost me my rent and I had to kill myself to make that money back in time. I will NEVER use Mercari again. I suggest that you do that same. This company does not care about you..

Stay away from this site!!! Do not use it!! you will be sorry!!

Nothing.. Mercari completely did me wrong, I had money in their online account and instead of using that, they hit my bank account that they had not previously not been able to deposit money into, but they could take the money out of.. I will NEVER USE THIS SERVICE AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They were subcontracted by Bestii. Xyz for a purchase. They charged me for the purchase, then discovered they didn't have the item, then issued me a refund but still charged me for shipping! NEVER AGAIN!

Only picked one star because I had to, Mercari is LESS THAN ZERO. I sold one time on Mercari: they refused over & over & over & over again to pay me what I was owed- ended up being charged for shipping when I'd very clearly indicated it was all buyer's responsibility. I really liked buyer. Completely disgusted, beyond appalled at this company 's lies & misrepresenting

They give sellers false fie star reviews- I spent way too much on a designer sweat shirt that arrived with stains and holes, USPS put the package in the wrong locker / gave me the wrong key that means I lost a day right there also out of town that day so now I have lost 48 hours- I said something to the seller in time they acknowledged there may be an issue and then Mercari rated the seller and released the funds and gave the seller a 5 star rating. Don't shop here clearly sell here if your a shady seller

The marketplace says "Recieve your item as described or your money back"
Ordered a lens. I scanned down to see the condition and the model number and placed the order. I later realized that the photos and the model number did not add up. I reported the error and asked them to cancel before it shipped. I recieved a reply that they couldnt do that. It did not ship within three days. Again i asked for a cancellation. In a few days i recieved a reply that it was too late, it had already shipped. Again i asked for a refund. All in all, i asked for a cancellation, refund over four times.The last time i recieved a reply that it was too late to refund, i should have let them know sooner. Now they are not replying at all.

This was my first time and last time ordering from Mercari. On Dec 10'th I ordered "like new" slippers as a gift for Christmas. The slippers didn't arrive by the promised date of "between the 16'th - 19'th." When I called customer service on the 21'st, their rep kept repeating my concern and apologizing, but said that "there's nothing that they can do." I escalated it to the mgr who repeated the same thing and told me that I "should wait a couple more days to see if the package was lost." They offered me a 5% coupon on my next order. Are you kidding me? It shouldn't take 12 days for a package to ship from Alabama to Cali! I called again on the 27'th and was informed that it transferred from Fed ex to USPS and that Mercari couldn't do anything but give me a tracking number, as "they're not responsible for shipping." I requested a refund because the package didn't arrive. They insisted that it did, but couldn't provide proof and again offered me a 5% coupon on my next order. Since Mercari customer service was absolutely ineffective, I called my credit card company which is now opening an investigation. I vow never again to purchase anything from this third-party retailer.

Like all other review said, it allows dishonest seller doing business. The seller "sellersue" charge extra shipping cost to make profit and also sent wrong item which I could not tell when I first received it. The seller "sellersue" also blocked buyer after buyer rates for her. I gave her 5 star when I thought she sent the right thing, but now I find out she didn't. I was trying to contact her and then I notice I was blocked. The most important thing is there is no CUSTOMER SERVICE at all!

Ive had good experiences, but the latest one was just awful and I just don't understand stupid people selling filthy shoes for top dollar. I bought some OCs, that looked pretty decent from the pictures for $70. When I received them and opened the box I was shocked and so disappointed, because I was so excited to receive them. They stunk so bad, my cats didn't want to sniff them. The box stunk so I threw it all in the garage. They looked far worse than the pictures, and it was like someone excreted on them. Thank goodness I was allowed to reject the purchase, but as I was looking for another pair, I noticed that these sellers don't try to clean up their shoes! The bottoms are black, dirt is in the cracks, etc. Why would you want to present your product in this way? The pictures I posted brightened up the insoles, they're actually filthy and black. You aren't allowed to leave a bad review if you return the product. Imo, it just allows for this to happen more frequently. You aren't getting a real portrayal of the seller. I learned to pay an extra 50 and get new ones.

Mercari has poor customer service I give them a below zero they only care about profit huge fees poor service
Quick to rush to judgment fast threatening and punish a seller
Trying calling them for help have a phone number but nobody there will answer
Mercari gets a poor rating because they are a poor company

I purchased what was billed as a 'reparable' iPhone 5s. After the device was paid for and shipped, I diagnosed the device and discovered that the phone was water damaged and its components corroded beyond repair. The phone was, in fact, junk, non-reparable.

I am trying to get help from Mercari that I was scammed out of. Buyer asked to have it shipped out today or they would not buy it. I packaged it up and rushed it to Fedex. As soon I marked it shipped the buyer cancelled the order. Once the shipping wheels are in motion it is difficult to stop delivery. The thieves know this and take advantage of eager sellers that want to accommodate a buyer. Mercari is impossible to get hold of via telephone but they did respond to my email. They apologized and offered me a 5% discount on my next purchase. Thanks but no thanks... They really don't care that I had a laptop basically stolen from me. BEWARE OF PEOPLE ASKING FOR SAME DAY SHIPPING!

I purchased used ski boots, I received them, they looked exactly like in the photos BUT they had a nasty musty basement smell. I tried lysol and airing them out but it didn't help. I contacted Mercari and basically was told they can not confirm a smell from photos so they denied my return request. I offered to send the boots to them to smell. I asked for my complaint to be escalated instead I received and email saying the higher ups would just tell me the same thing and then an email saying my case was closed. I also went to write an honest review, within the 24 hours i had left to write it, only to find out once Mercari denied my return they automatically gave the seller a good review. This is deceiving to the buyers who are going off sellers reviews. Which i did read before buying. I did reach out to the seller directly but have gotten no response. So basically i'm out the money spent and will have to purchase another pair of boots. I think Mercari needs a class action lawsuit to change their policies and stop leaving false positive reviews for their sellers.

Tip for consumers:
buyer beware! you are not protected as a buyer. The seller reviews can be false. When I requested a return and it was denied because they could not verify a bad odor from photos Mercari automatically gave the seller a positive review.

There is no support they are extremely rude ihnore you and send automatic message delete items saying they are counteirfiet because i wont reduce my price can prove item isnt but they delete account no questions asked and ban you horrible
