Initially customer service gave me some trouble due to mistaken identity, however the (frustrating) problem was resolved. I must say that I enjoy the simplicity of Mercari. It is a more streamlined method of buying and selling than Ebay.
This web site is terrible. They have pictures of the item but sends you something totally different. For example. The bags are clearly vintage but you receive a brand new fake bag plastic bag. They have so many sellers websites doing this. They are are usually shipping out of Chino, California. You order one thing and receive another. They don't refund money instead they credit.
I have sold over 3,000 items on Mercari, and another 3,000 on Poshmark/Vinted/other selling sites. I typically preferred Mercari because of the cheaper shipping options which enticed buyers, as well as a lower commission taken by the app (10% versus 20% by poshmark). For the most part I've had an overall okay experience with the app, when things go smoothly, but when they don't, they REALLY don't. The app ALWAYS favors the buyer, no matter the circumstance. I sold a pair of leggings, photographed every angle and a buyer told me that I told them a different color, even when we had zero communication about the color. She simply just wasn't happy with it, so they let her return it. Another buyer bought a lot of 50 items from me, one of them had a flaw, and she returned them, not returning all of my items with it. Customer service is absolutely horrible and takes days to respond, but if you are the seller, consider yourself at a loss because they never, ever take the sellers side. I've even had people cut holes in items I've sent them, and Mercari allows them to return it. I've lost so much product and money on this site, that I can't afford to sell anything more with them. Mercari is the Walmart and Poshmark is the Target (a little pricier but well worth not having to deal with people who are cheap and trashy). Taking my business elsewhere and I suggest every one does the same.
Bottom line: i had a 40+ positive rating. Some dummy in their office agreed to allow someone to return something to me that was described 8000% accurately, and refunded the scammer $800 prior to the items being returned. I video taped and posted on YouTube the opening of the returned packages. One was empty, missing a $675 bracelet. I thought uploading a full youtube video of myself picking up the packages, opening them etc AND pictures would be proof enough for them to protect me, the seller, and reimburse me. NOPE. INSTEAD they said I didnt provide enough proof and took away my selling privileges - because THEY WERE WRONG / MADE A MISTAKE. I posted a YouTube video that can be observed by looking up Mercari scammer rip off and I will be posting many more and taking any legal action I can against this company
I have had three transactions in a row cancelled by Sellers *after* I paid via PayPal balance! What a complete waste of time! I am sticking with e-Bay!
My one purchase experience via Mercari was very poor. Product was misrepresented, domestic shipping took 4 weeks, Mercari service non-existent. I will never again purchase through this vendor.

I ordered a hair care product and I received AN EMPTY CONTAINER! I contacted the seller who suggested that I repost it on Mercari and they would re-buy it. Sounded way too complicated and just wrong to me. So, when I tried to return it for a refund, there was NO link to a form to complete the return process. JUST STAY AWAY FROM MERCARI! Very disappointed: learn from my mistake and STAY AWAY.

Not too good for sellers or buyers
The sole of my boots came off the 2nd. Time I wore them. Mercari policy says you can not return them after you've given a review or 3 days past the date you receive the item. Also, there's literally no way to contact Mercari, even through email.!?
Thankfully the seller was really cool and helpful. They told me they had to reach them on. Facebook messenger. They were so nice about it I looked into shoe glue and decided to fix them myself. They fit well which is difficult for me.
So again, if you find a. Good seller then it's worth it. If not, stick to other selling sites.
I've also heard it's easy for sellers to not get paid on that site. They only get paid when the seller leaves the review. It's bizarre. It might work if people could contact them.

IVE HAD A MERCARI APP FOR OVER A YEAR AND MY DAUGHTER CAME HOME FROM COLLEGE AND GOT HER OWN ACCOUNT WITH THE SAME ADDRESS AND MERCARI DELATED BOTH. MULTIPLE PEOPLE IN THE SAME HOUSE CANNOT HAVE ACCOUNT THEY WILL SHUT DOWN WITHOUT NOTICE. I HAD OVER 200 ITEMS LISTED WHICH TOOK HOURS TO PHOTOGRAPH. TOTAL BS APP
They don't stand behind buyer! I got ripped off from name brand 4 less (seller) for $403!) I bought a phone and she is a scammer! Buyer beware of this site! Also be ware of seller!
Just please for your own sanity stay away from this site, let go, ebay, offer up, poshmark are wayyyy better after you ship your item to your buyer you have to wait until later the item is delivered OK so now I can get paid right? NOPE I was wrong lol I have to beg for a review from the buyer if they don't reply I have to wait 4 days after delivery to now ask a member from support to "investigate" buyer and they can submit a review for them on behalf of them, now after that they reply a week later to release your funds but wait lol its available on there site so you can shop on their site if not you can ask for a bank transfer which takes another week the point is I'm still waiting for payment and my item was delivered on 03/04 please I give details because it's so not worth it and non existing customer care
I purchased my items 20 days ago from a seller named Jessica Dont buy from her I think shes a scammer she takes the money and you never here from her again. The site is very hard to get around and its almost impossible to get a hold of customer service. The number on the site is no longer in service when you click on something it takes you no where. Unless you have money to throw away DONT SHOP HERE! I have been shopping online since 1999 and never had a problem until now. I even shop China and I havent had this kind of issue. I didnt lose allot of money this time but I hate a thief so I had to do this review. As a matter of fact I will be contacting the BBB tomorrow.
Mercari is a hypocrite they sell dangerous products like fake make up for example the Kylie Jenner lip kit anything to do with Kylie Jenner we are making 10% with every sale but claim you are not to alarm to sell these type of products if you sell something on there and its legit somehow they screw you if I fire claim something thats not true they go ahead and refund the money to the buyer You lose out on your products for example I sold a brand new pair of sneakers with tags and its original box by her claimed they were ripped Mercari granted them their money back And told I have to discard the sneakers so I lost out on a pair of brand new sneakers never received any money

Bought an item, the dumb seller sent the wrong item, I cancelled the order they threatened to not return my money if I left a negative review, I screen shot the email from them, don't buy from them, not worth the Hassle, they wanted my to wait for them to return my money, it was already 1 week of waiting on the item, I called my bank the same day, I did sent the item back, buyer be aware, they are not worth it

Wish I could give them ZERO stars. I am a seller on Mercari, have over 400 reviews all 5 starts, not a single 4 star or less reviews. They closed my account saying i sold unauthentic items. Seriously? I have over 400 reviews and you guys think i sell fake stuff. They listen to those fake accounts where they offer you 70% less for your items that you are selling amd you dont accept they report your account. And stupid Mercati fall for it. GARBAGE COMPANY. They don't want to listen to you. I bought alot off them. I always paid with credit cards. 3 actually. I have 9 orderes that they are not going to give me my money for cause I don't have a checking account. They suspended me for canceling a order cause the buyer has a right to cancel if the seller doesn't ship with in 5days. I have that in wrighting. What can I do to get my money back.in have credit cards receipt that's all an emails from them that I paid but never received.

You must fully check out and test all functions within 3 days of receipt. If you are out of town or don't get to it, you are screwed if there is a problem.
I never really write reviews about any app because I dont have the time to do so, but if an app or service is really good I give a 5 star and give credit where its do, the concept of the mercari platform is a great one specially since ebay and amazon have the market cornered, mercari is an opportunity to sell on another platform and make some money on the side or so it seems but unfortunately I have experienced nothing but headaches with them. I have had mercari probably since 2016 untill this year, I was selling fine had amazing reviews from customers and was a great seller on that platform until out of no where Mercari team decided to close my account. They didn't even want to give me my pending money that was on hold. They mentioned I was selling copyright infringed items but when I showed them proof of purchase with receipts they still suspended my account indefinitely basically cutting one of my income streams. I must let every seller know that mercari regardless of how appealing it is looks out for number one, that's themselves. Sellers are the backbone of their business without us they are nothing without buyers they are nothing its time to start doing something about this injustice!
I have contacted CHANEL, GUCCI, FENDI, BURBERRY, LOUIS VUITTON IN REGARDS TO mercari allowing fake sellers sell fake items. There is a big class action lawsuit in the works. Everyones job in SF is at risk

I bought a bird feeder that the birds were not attracted to. Mercari wouldn't accept a return so I just threw $30 down the drain. I will NEVER buy from this company again... or sell either!
THEY DONT REFUND YOUR PURCHASE IF YOU SHIP ITEM LATER JUST ONE DAY, SO THEY RECEIVED MY RETURN WITH ALL TRACKING DETAILS, AND KEPT MY MONEY.

I've been a member since 2016 and have listed over 150 items and sold over 123 items on Mercari. Last Thursday, I received an offer for $12 on a pair of kids UGG boots. I declined the offer because it stated that my earnings would be $10.50. A half hour later I noticed that the buyer purchased the item for the $15 listed price. I printed out the label and shipped the boots off the same day. On Saturday, I received a notification that the buyer received the item and accepted it. She gave me a five star rating. When I logged into the site the very next day to check my earnings, it stated that my earnings was 50 cents. I sent Mercari an email explaining the situation. They sent me a response saying the shipping was free and paid by me. Say what now? I have never offered free shipping on any of my items that are listed under $100. Why would i sell a pair of UGG boots that is in great condition to only earn 50 cents? They said that they cannot reimburse my shipping because of their policy. That's when I decided that I would delete my account. I went in to delete my account but kept getting a message saying, I could not delete my account because there are items that were listed less than 2 weeks ago. I then decided to delete each individual item and noticed that 99% of my items had free shipping, when I've never offered or listed my items as seller pays shipping. They changed all of my items from 2016 to free shipping. This is very deceiving! How dare them! I deleted all of my items and will tell my friends and family to delete theirs as well. I will stick to Poshmark only. The nerve of those people!
I have been selling on mercari for a long time and they have had no issues with taking the almost 15% DONT LET THEM FOOL YOU THEY CHARGE A PROCESSING FEE ON TOP OF THE 10% They just notified me that my account was shut down because I was a previous user. AND YHEY WOMT RELEASE MY BALANCE OF OVER $1670. 00!
