Initially customer service gave me some trouble due to mistaken identity, however the (frustrating) problem was resolved. I must say that I enjoy the simplicity of Mercari. It is a more streamlined method of buying and selling than Ebay.
This web site is terrible. They have pictures of the item but sends you something totally different. For example. The bags are clearly vintage but you receive a brand new fake bag plastic bag. They have so many sellers websites doing this. They are are usually shipping out of Chino, California. You order one thing and receive another. They don't refund money instead they credit.
I was so wrong about Mercari. It is great and holds people accountable. The customer support is so amazing to both a buyer and a seller. Thank you!
Do not sell items on mecari they only side with buyer and will approve any return request even if item matches. They do not follow their own policies
I ordered iPhone on this apps right after my account was created. Within my profile, under the address section, when I input my city, the apps auto correct it into abbreviations and I got cancelled by the seller due to invalid address and got blocked from that seller. I Contacted Mercari, it takes them forever to answer, but didn't solve the problem at all. They indicated that it was my fault inputting the invalid address and tell me to fix it in the setting. I did reinput my correct address many times but the apps kept auto correct and not saving in input. I Contacted again, they ignored and not answer. I then use my brother's address, update the setting, then ordered the phone again, got cancelled again with invalid address, second buy now, got cancelled because seller said accident purchase. But when I ordered the infant dress, it got shipped, now I'm waiting to receive it. Mercari kept sent me reminders of using coupons that they offered which is very annoying because I cannot buy therefor cannot use the coupon; now that it is expired. The dress is under $15 so cannot use coupon either. While I'm trying search other products, my screen keep popping up "BAD REQUEST". I even double check with USPS, my bank and PayPal, all said something is wrong with Mercari. I Contacted Mercari again and still did not hear anything from them. Mercari customer service is the Worst of the worst of the worst. I even think it is scam either the apps or even the seller. Why phone seller could not recognize my address and the dress seller can? Why the phone seller kept cancelled my added and even put in accident purchase. Wat the Heck! I'm so nice to give them a1 star. They should receive a ZERO. Do not recommend this apps!

Is there anyone on here that can actually get ahold of anyone some customer service. Without listing all the BS I have gone through nutshell I've been on mercari for over 5 years from day one I have done all profile verification including submitted driver's license. I started racking up some money from selling some stuff then they suspended my account. I have read from a lot of people when your money starts going up they hold it. Got an email saying thank you for verifying please submit receipt of items that you are selling so that we can proceed to review your account. I was like what. As strange as that was I submitted receipts. Still when I go to my profile it states in my inbox verify so I click on it and it says thank you for verifying. However I cannot direct deposit my money into my account that i earned with my stuff. And buyers cannot purchase my product on my page. Is there anyone here from customer service for god sakes.

I had a legitimate return request for an item that was sent to me damaged. The return process on Mercari is outrageous. I filed the required paperwork, uploading the pictures of the damage on several areas of my purchase, the box, the packing material and the shipping label. After a day and half, I get an email from Mercari telling me to upload more pictures. My pictures were better/clearer than any one picture that I have seen on any Mercari listing. I had already spent too much time on this issue, so I opted to keep the item, fix it the best I could and sell it at somewhat of a loss - STATING THE DAMAGE. My goal here was to be able to leave this dishonest, non-responsive seller the 1 star review that they deserved. Mercari does not allow for the buyer to leave the seller a review once the return has been accepted and the refund is given. So, the Reviews on Mercari are BOGUS. You will not see how many disappointed buyers any particular seller has accumulated. The platforms I sell on would never tolerate the poor business practices, the amount of "Cancelled by Seller" Reviews, the lack of any type of communication, an unhappy buyer nor the fact that the buyer has received an "Item Not as Described" item. Finally, the pictures on Mercari ALL lack complete viewing of the item or really clear pictures. The home base to this site is a foreign country, so don't expect the company to act in the same way the USA does business. My take-away is, assume they do not take returns regardless of the issue and don't spend too much money. There are plenty of legitimate business' and online seller's on many other online platforms that would be happy to service you. Mercari is just not one of them.

Proceed with caution. I have never had such a run around on a legitimate "not as described" purchase in my 22+ years of online buying. The seller's on Mercari are not held to any standards of business practice.

None. I purchased a camera and received a single disposable mask about 40 days after my purchase. They refused to refund my money and instead removed the page the camera was listed on and lusted it again elsewhere.

Mercari will screw you when you sell an item and there is a return. People send back empty boxes and you loose money.
Mercari is a place where you can buy and sell things from other people like you. I'm assuming this is a Japanese venture because the site can be set to "United States" and "Japan" but you won't find a link to their support system. Support seems to be available in app only.
For buyers: When you find a product you like, you can buy it, assuming that the seller still has the item and the app on their phone and is paying attention. Usually after a certain amount of time if the seller hasn't shipped on contacted the buyer through the app, the transaction can be cancelled at the request of the buyer.
For sellers: You can choose up to four photos and edit them in the app. You need to add a title and description, as well as choose the shipping fee, condition the item is in, size (if applicable, and price. Whole dollars only, no change.
You get $2 for yourself and a the person you refer to Mercari (if you want to use mine it's jld475, just saying).
Once you receive the item you ordered you will have to rate your seller, and sellers will have to rate the buyers. If you are not satisfied with your order when it arrives you can figure out what to do by contacting Mercari and/or the seller. Do not, under any circumstance rate the other person if you are unsatisfied with your purchase because there's nothing that you'll be able to do to get your money back if you do that.
Payment methods: Paypal, and card. You can have funds sent to your bank through the app.
Shipping methods: Labels are offered for USPS and FedEx. Mercari recommends using USPS for everyday things and FedEx for fragile things. The shipping rates are: 0-0.5 lbs = $4,0.5 - 3 lbs = $6,3 - 10 lbs = $9, and 10 - 20 lbs = $15. You can also choose to ship the item yourself.
I hope this is helpful. I have had a pretty positive experience using the service for several months now. I've had two negative experiences but one of them had deleted the app so they never knew I had purchased anything and another lady failed to disclose to me that the eye shadow palette I had bought from her (which she said was "no brand") was actually a knock off of something else. I did report the account.

Be careful of name brands when you purchase. Ask as many questions as you can about the item so that you don't waste your time. Read their ratings!
Scammers get better customer service than the customers that get scammed. The first time I was scammed, I purchased a laptop. The minute the purchase was complete the seller marked as shipped. Then proceeded to message me several times, I believe asking me to pay outside of Mercari, because admin kept deleting her messages. After several days of tracking not available, I messaged seller and Mercari. Seller never responded. Mercari informs me that the seller said she did ship the package. I believe it was about 2 weeks later that they finally closed the case. Silly me, I figured since in all the years of buying and selling online, and never been scammed, it wouldn't happen twice. Very next purchase, scammed again. It took 2 weeks to be delivered, to find dead pixels on the screen and the disk drive doesn't work. I got a total run around. They had me send pictures 5 or 6 times, through the Mercari site, email and text messages. Then they closed that case and opened a new one for the same purchase, and requested the same pictures again. I sent them 2 more times. After that they quit responding. I opened a case with PayPal. I'm sure they will resolve soon. Meanwhile this is a message I received from Mercari "The PayPal account associated with this Mercari account has recently initiated a payment dispute.
Moving forward, if you would like to have a transaction cancelled, refunded, or need to request a return, please contact us via the Help Center before reaching out to PayPal. In most cases, we are able to cancel the transaction or issue a refund faster if you contact us directly.
Please note that additional disputes filed through PayPal instead of Mercari could subject your account to suspension, review, and termination"

Eargo Max Hearing Aids are selling on Mercari for $1798. 00. I completed all required forms (including Credit Card Info). When submitted, the Message stated: "OOPS - Item not available". I sent a message to the Seller. The Seller replied the item is available. I tried several more times to purchase the item with the same result: "OOPS - Item not available".
I treied to contact Mercari. The are HORRIBLE!
They will not communicate with the BUYER!
