Nextdoor uses volunteer "Leads" to moderate content on Nextdoor. These Leads could be pedophiles, rapist or extremist with an agenda. Nextdoor provides NO vetting or training of Leads!
What a pathetic business plan. Use unqualified, unpaid volunteers! And ND still can't make a profit.
I love Nextdoor for its ability to provide a simple, easy-to-use social platform that connects you with your neighbors and other communities around you. I live in a big city now and I find that it is harder to get that community feel in which neighbors communicate and help each other out. The Nextdoor platform makes it easy to build a community around you, and I have seen so many great things come out of it e.g. finding lost pets, returning lost keys and belongings, and warning others of crime activity. Thank you Nextdoor!
Nextdoor platform in Texas is strictly a race base, non thinking, non progressive brunch that says anyone that thinks outside the box should be band. This platform is supposed be what neighbors talk about, that is as long as it's what they want to hear. You can not have an intelligent conversation with this bunch, because they troll you gang up on you with their minions and then send a complaint in on you. I think I'm through this racist bunch. Sad no 1st amendment here, strictly 2nd amendment or you're out.
If you stick to things that no one on the left disagrees with you'll be fine. Your leads are in control of posts being removed. So if they don't like something you get thrown in ND jail. I posted actual info from frontline workers, but it doesn't align with the garbage MSM is spewing. The really sad part is they don't tell you what the exact post was, so you have no idea what someone didn't like. So restricted for 30 days, and the leads think they are something special! We have gotten to a point if your views don't align with someone else's, instead of continuing to scroll they choose to cry & snitch……bc they don't want anyone having a different view!
NextDoor is a terrible app with terrible moderators. There is constant bullying. One member even took the time to write down my last name, and continue using it, even though I asked him not to. I had asked him several times to not use my full name (I had changed it to the setting first name last initial).
In addition, the new "neighbor" accounts who pose now as businesses are quite shady, poor grammar, poor videos, and unprofessional with how repetitive they are. NextDoor is losing a lot of money by allowing those ads to post freely.
There is a lot of bullying, drama, and nonsense in NextDoor,
Please do Not download this app.
The site guides new neighbors as well as supporting current neighbors on anything from advise or recommendations in practically every topic. It also serves as a heads up on social events and strangers in a neighborhood to be aware of. Lost you pet or looking for a new one? This is where neighbors support neighbors!
I have always had a rather good experience using Nextdoor and learning
New things. If I have a problem or don't know what procedure should be applied, I ask and I get a very nice rep helping me to handle problems a certain way. I always get the right answer which makes every one happy.
For the most part, quality information passed along. Every so often, a great debate starts and never ends... the beauty of forums and threads, you can easily just shut it down. But with quality and pertinent information on respective neighborhoods, I think Nextdoor is a much needed site and should be in each and every neighborhood, no matter how small. Thank you!
ND has morphed into a site that only serves to divide and alienate the neighbors it professes to serve. Currently, our site is being torn apart by two 'leads' who have taken censorship to a new level. Posts are being deleted without cause or explanation. Members are being 'suspended' or removed altogether. And this is being done with the full support of the ND 'headquarters'.
I wonder if the venture capitalists who are presently funding the site are aware that half the residents are turning their backs on the site? Movements are afoot to boycott any and all sponsors once they begin placing ads on the site.
Keeps me informed about all the goings on in our neighborhood and nearby surroundings. Helps keep me aware of crime activity and in the know about available resources, services and businesses that neighbors have used and recommend. Great for networking about local activities, rummage sales, items for sale, events, and city hall politics, resources, etc.
This is a potentially unsafe app because there are a number of trolls and bullies who enjoy harassing, discrediting and bullying their neighbors on the basis they don't share the same opinions. The leads allow these trolls and perhaps the leads and their friends ARE the bullies and trolls. I was permanently banned for sharing my new air cleaners which according to the manufacturer killed 99.9 % of viruses including COVID. I was permanently banned for spreading misinformation although I think it had more to do with reporting the violators who never get banned.
The leads have no oversight which explains why everyone is not treated equally. Higher level Next Door personnel don't seem to care
It's a shame because there is potential. Our HOA won't use this app and now I know why.
I agree with some reviewers that having a judicious and competent neighborhood lead seems to be key to the success of this site. The leads in our area seem to be doing an effective job of moderating content. There will always be some people with pet causes that they want to promote; maintaining a civil tone in items posted is the key.
I love the Nextdoor app for various reasons. It would be nice if people would learn how to use it a little better. Remove items that are sold, one posting for multiple items and be kind to one another. It is a great tool to keep in touch and get advice as well as being able to get rid of some stuff!
Hello. Placing a review here so perhaps I could get a response from a person who works at NextDoor. I have 2 homes and tried to set up 2 Nextdoors. The app really makes it difficult to set up more than 1 home location therefore I used my first name twice. Evidently this program verifies your legal name against your address and because they do not like my name I am removed from using the application. Is this discrimination? Next door please clean this up!
It's a site overrun with bullies and trolls separating neighbors by ideology and political factions. Neighbors trade insults under the guise of debate. Site monitors punish and censor the ones being bullied, not the bullies themselves. The lowest common denominator run the show because there are more of them, and/or their left wing politics align with those of the site "leads." Also, there is NO blocking so you can't get away from your tormenters. No stars would be more accurate.
Bringing people together, watching after our children especially our four legged ones. Bringing a level of trust that makes the old neighborhood watch a thing of the past. So much more I would be here all night.
Origin of site is San Francisco All democrats & liberals say what ever they want opposing their narrative of lies and misinformation gets you kicked off. They are trolling for weak minded easy marks to turn with absolutely ridicules lies and misinformation. It's a total sham. Don't waste your time it's a joke full of anti American biden lovers. Your full name is required unless you're a democrat or liberal. Lars P is proof of that. Him and several other democrats/liberals don't have to have full name?! Liberals and democrats will love their like minded criteria. If you are a trump supporter they delete you immediately!
I think the app is great but their policy sucks. The site has a personal and a business side. The personal side does not allow you to talk about their business. They monitor you. You have to use the business side and pay for any messaging about your company. Their business advertising is very limited for the money you pay.
I was sharing work that I am doing in my house and getting opinions from my neighbors and Nextdoor blocked my account for three days as a punishment for violating their advertising policy.
Maybe someone will create another competing app and allow neighbors to collaborate without limitations or censorship
Expect to be censored, then banned, then removed if you take the unpopular side on any hot discussion. Or in my case, even ask questions that expose the flaws of the popular side. Is this even America?
Was targeted by a group of women who seemed to have an influence on the app.
Was made to feel threatened and to be honest at the time almost suicidal.
When I asked one of the bullies to stop, the response was I was suspended by next door.
No chance to ask why, or why were they taking sides.
To be honest had been warned but maybe naively thought next door would be a fair platform.
Answer: The negative reviews are honest reactions to being duped into sharing too much personal information (that Nextdoor now owns and will NEVER delete and will continue to sell to advertisers until your dying day) to join a site that seems friendly on the surface, but which does NOTHING to protect users. I was bullied by a convicted murderer, who is a Lead in my neighborhood--and I was banned from the site for complaining. Leads are nothing more than early adopters of the site who have been assigned power over other users so that Nextdoor does not have to police it's own site. In short: No. The negative reviews are not wrong. Heed them! I wish I had known before it was too late!
Answer: Forget about nextdoor and leads. Get a life, a real one. Don't waste your time with toxic online communities that tend to get the worst out of people. My advise is run away while you still have some dignity left.
Answer: Kay is right. That is their policy. However, don't expect them to hold to it. We have leads unfairly removing only some people's comments and Nextdoor does nothing about it. Best bet, dump nextdoor.
Answer: Neighborhood. Rocks is in development. Another 6 months.
Answer: Truth is like oil and water. As long as the scam artist have enough venture capital (other people's money) they will continue to shake the bottle leaving it a murky view obscuring the truth. Run out of cash, they'll be exposed for the incompetent boobs they are and the top dogs will clear out their bank accounts and move on to the next scam. One look at their "leading edge tech" pulled right out of the 1980's is proof enough they will die in the tar pits just like the fellow dinosaurs. Want a state of the art app? Check out https://wiggio.com or www.neighborhoodlink.com
Answer: Dallas, SiteJabber rates it at 16%. It would surely rate lower if there weren't so many fake positive reviews. Folks review Nextdoor either 1 or 5. The fives read like ads about Nextdoor's features and potential. The ones are written by real people and give accounts of how awful their experiences were.
Answer: Several other reviewers on this site have had the same thing happen to them. We have been fully banned from nextdoor (beyond just "suspension"), but they keep our profiles, and sometimes our names still appear in the neighbor registry. They refuse to remove us fully, I suppose, in an attempt to misrepresent our endorsement and participation there. It's clearly unethical, but their TOS states that they can do this, as any nd apologist will point out.
Answer: Here's a tidy answer from corporate... Hi Colleen, Thanks for getting back to me. Our Community Guidelines prohibit posting about Lead activity on the main newsfeed. If your Leads are inactivate and youre concerned about moderation in your neighborhood, you should reach out directly to Nextdoor Support. If you have any specific concerns I can help you with at this time, please let me know. Best, Amanda Nextdoor However, the minute you alert corporate to issues with leads in your community you'll find your account terminated. They are very protective of the information surrounding who really is controlling the activities on the boards. Most people in my community are under the misguided impression that corporate is in control. They don't even consider it is their neighbor who sits in judgement.
Answer: Nextdoor wants your full legal name, house number and address and your email address that they link all together. As an added bonus... They have a little map that you can click on. That way if, OMG, you offend someone the little map leads them straight to your house. Run, do not walk, away from this site. No good comes from Nextdoor.
Answer: Your name and address will be known to everyone who uses the NextDoor application and website. I don't suggest using it. I recently discovered that low income apartments in ghetto areas might be able to use the application to do crime. Car theft, asaaults, kidnapping and just about everything else under the sun.
