I am a solar business who pays for advertising on the site. On the personal side I offered discussions on climate change. I was accused by some that I was promoting my business on the personal web site. I seem to have been kicked off the site for talking about this serious issue. I am entitled to bring up subjects even though I have a parallel business account. I received a congressional award for my 40 years of work on sustainability issues and have knowledge to share. I was actually been pejoratively called a self serving capitalist. Never given the chance to defend myself and some plutocrat on the board of this misguided organization decided to suspend my account. I am withdrawing my advertising account.
Nextdoor neighbors are hypocrites here in West Hollywood. They claim Their democratics that are homosexuals & lesbians but at the same time they film homeless people that are down & out and make fun of them.iam a Trump supporter & I got banned for checking these people that claim that they have more values then conservatives.
After using the service for a couple months I began receiving alerts that people had accepted my invitation to join Nextdoor and offering me opportunities to send more invitations. I'd never given any authorzation to use my name in their marketing efforts. Sounds like they sent some thousands of messages using my name and street without my authorization. Or perhaps they setup their app that some single accidental clik authorized this without my knowledge. There is no way to contact them so I posted a message to the group referencing what they did. My message was quickly deleted & I haven't received any response. It's a slimy business model that shouldn't be supported.
Not long after I joined Nextdoor I was inundated with junk emails and those nasty, threatening voice mails and telemarketing and I am on the do not call list and my number is not listed. And when i posted a simple community policy question for condo homeowners on how to dispose of hazardous to the board is was deleted and I believe that a lot of the posts may not be fully truthful. As soon as I canceled the service the voice messages and telemarketing calls stopped. I have to reset my PC to get rid of the download that is required and now my PC runs great. Plus they post your address on their website. I think it is more to deceive people to join then misuse their personal information to spy and censor what is posted or asked. I would question providing or allowing access to all your personal information.
The policing of content is awful. I go on the app or went on the app I should say to see if there are any lost dogs, to see pictures of snow and wildlife in our backyards, And to read of any wonderful announcements. However I came across political content particularly an activist group trying to recruit in our neighborhood. I am not going to say if it was left or right the fact is it should not be allowed no matter what the content is. Our neighborhoods are polarized enough and with the last election we have seen deterioration of relationships between neighbors in my community. Next-door has become another app that allows toxic polarizing content on its site. It should ban any political content and dangerous disinformation.
During a discussion on the safety of covid shots, one of my ignorant neighbors told me I should get a tattoo so everyone knows I'm unvaxxed. I'm Jewish. This was extremely offensive to me, the other commentors joined in telling me to basically shove it and I was a menance to society. In case people didn't study history, that's what they did to jews (that my ancestors fled Hungary to get away from) before shipping them off to camps. My account was banned after I reported many comments for being a "conspiracy theorist". Glad to see the stasi has arrived in the states and these tech companies are perpetuating and giving them a platform for their hate.!
Tis a site for nosey liberals to self promote themselves, complain/whine about things in thier neighborhoods. If you post a reply with links as proof to back up what your posting. Some will attack you others will just disagree with your opinion. Then call you a bigoted cyber bully then mute you. Kinda of ironic liberals don't want to hear your opinion if it's different from thiers. But it goes to show The site was created by liberals in one of the most liberal cities in California ( San Francisco). The site may have been started with good intentions, but joining Nextdoor could expose one to the neighbors other side, thusly creating a rift. Since it is a Liberal site, knowing this kinda makes the puzzle pieces fit...
They will take down your post and disable your account for being a 'bully'
Telling someone to not go 40mph in my neighborhood is NOT bullying. But we live in a world you can't say anything, unless the media agrees. Nextdoor is another spinless run platform by spinless cowards. Probably why their 523rd on the list of social media platforms.
Idiots.
When you need help with dealing with an abusive landlord, you will be met with nothing but hostility intent on driving you out of your neighborhood by the likes of California's hivemind. When you call out the abuse by the membership, YOU get moderated and suspended.
I had requested help on escaping the landlord when I desperately needed it and was, before the request was of course being deleted, instead met with accusations of being DRUNK. Sorry, Richmond, CA region, but I don't drink alcohol and I have reason to not want to. You, however, want to be drunk and have my parents' house, already a mess caused by pluming that wasn't my parents' fault before the red tape complicates things, being the symbol of your sins to show for it.
It just amazes me how these people think that everybody living in this God awful disconnect already full of territorial paranoia could make a good society. NextDoor definitely enables this mess to continue via the same toxic hivemind.
Most of the crime and safety alerts were by cranks trying to convince others that silly things like cars simply parking for a few minutes then leaving were stalkers or terrorists or some vast conspiracy to "target" them. They were insisting these should be reported to police! They were creating an atmosphere of fear and hate for anyone they didnt recognize. In one thread I tried to talk some sense into them of course they didnt want to hear it and when tbey attacked me the lead stepped in and publicly treated me like a child.
The site basically allows the worst idiots in your neighborhood to band together and spread fear, loathing, racism, hate and waste police man hours.
Which will only benefit nextdoor because they will recruit more members if they convince them everyone and everytbing are threats.
Nextdoor is an excellent way to communicate with the people in our area. Pets have been found and returned to their family, and much helpful information is provided. Some of the City of Ballwin Ordinances have been shared when people don't understand what is legal and acceptable.
This site will ruin your life and they have no problem doing it it's a libel slander bully sit filled with false fake lies that are google search able? So the fake neighbors won't post on google but hind behind Nextdoor libel slandering for there on personal gain ruining life and there is no way you can talk to any one legit because the ones doing run the neighborhoods. Imagine quilting your company you created because libel slandering Ayer 7 years of success then anyone that google you when you try to get hired reads lies from people you never meet. And then your kissing your house. Because of it is Terrible the admins should be in jail. It's ilyfor this to happen but the hide it because they control the sire it's gross. Run away. Don't let Nextdoor ruin your life!
Someone is sitting in an office and deciding what is appropriate and what is not. With guidelines that they aren't reading.
NextDoor seems to be very random in how they review posts. Joking about physical violence is evidently ok. Recommending that jokes about physical violence are not appropriate to NextDoor is "public shaming."
I was also accused of using a "false name" because I used my married name and my maiden name is my email account (which I got before I got my husband).
I was told, like a child who had thrown a tantrum, that if I agreed to be a good girl, they would consider letting me back in.
Thanks -- but no thanks.
Nextdoor force you to display your full name and address to the whole "community". The communities are huge, covering 1000s of houses, it's just not safe. Real first name requirement to promote trust and openness, yes. However forcing everyone to display surnames and street addresses is just an invasion of privacy and an assault on security.
Despite the clear outcry from users, they continue to force the oversharing of personal details. Not listening to what users want will equal them walking out and ND being a total failure in the UK.
We all miss Streetlife. Try https://www.kahuti.com/ instead
Their "rules" state the selling of live animals is prohibited but they currently have several breeders advertising puppies in time for Christmas. When this was brought to the attention of a nextdoor reviewer she told them to go in and change puppies for sale to puppies being rehomed. So an actual individual that reviews posts told these breeder how to lie to get around the rules and thinking that the readers are so stupid that they wouldn't see what she did but yet the suspended other accounts for the dumbest reason, usually it those who complain about the sale of live animals they go after. By these reviewers behavior they have damaged the creditability of nextdoor.
How they have the audacity to whitter on about building communities, but maintain privacy is totally bogus.
I live in a Nextdoor Neighbourhood of over 3000 Households, to even imagine that size of population contains no criminality is ludicrous. The arrogance of their response when you question the idea of displaying so much private information says more about, either their naivity or the intention to monetise the business by targetted advertising.
Moderators are bullies and the site encourages it. Earlier today I was accused of reporting a comment made by a mod. I hadn't reported or would I have. When I told her that she said she is a mod and I had don't it. She then called me a liar and a snitch! Seriously wtf? Reported that comment and it was deemed ok. So basically they can say whatever they want and you cannot. It's disturbing to have people like that "running" a neighborhood site. Do better.
Next Door is being used to shame and bully a widowed woman living alone. Her "neighbors" are using ND to organize, meet and plan against her. ND published her picture and address. After allowing the post with picture and address to stay for 4 days the Lead finally agreed to remove the picture, but not the address. There seems to be no way to stop this tkype of posting.
This group is biased and left wing for sure. They kicked me off for scolding a bully. This is the 3rd time they kicked me off. I'm done with Nextdoor. I'd give them a 0 if I could. I didn't bully anyone. Some guy commented on a post that stated an auto mechanic chain tried to screw them out of $5k for a timing chain that wasn't even the problem. The neighbor bullied the person who posted what happened. I said it sounded like he was an employee and I said the chains are crooks. Nextdoor suspended my account for 14 days. They can let the door hit them where the good Lord split them.
The biggest c*nts in the world, that's who. We know *who* runs all the media, including the antisocial media, so it's really no surprise that The Tribe chooses the c*ntiest of the c*nts to do their dirty work. May they all get what they truly deserve - and it's coming;o)
Answer: The negative reviews are honest reactions to being duped into sharing too much personal information (that Nextdoor now owns and will NEVER delete and will continue to sell to advertisers until your dying day) to join a site that seems friendly on the surface, but which does NOTHING to protect users. I was bullied by a convicted murderer, who is a Lead in my neighborhood--and I was banned from the site for complaining. Leads are nothing more than early adopters of the site who have been assigned power over other users so that Nextdoor does not have to police it's own site. In short: No. The negative reviews are not wrong. Heed them! I wish I had known before it was too late!
Answer: Forget about nextdoor and leads. Get a life, a real one. Don't waste your time with toxic online communities that tend to get the worst out of people. My advise is run away while you still have some dignity left.
Answer: Kay is right. That is their policy. However, don't expect them to hold to it. We have leads unfairly removing only some people's comments and Nextdoor does nothing about it. Best bet, dump nextdoor.
Answer: Neighborhood. Rocks is in development. Another 6 months.
Answer: Truth is like oil and water. As long as the scam artist have enough venture capital (other people's money) they will continue to shake the bottle leaving it a murky view obscuring the truth. Run out of cash, they'll be exposed for the incompetent boobs they are and the top dogs will clear out their bank accounts and move on to the next scam. One look at their "leading edge tech" pulled right out of the 1980's is proof enough they will die in the tar pits just like the fellow dinosaurs. Want a state of the art app? Check out https://wiggio.com or www.neighborhoodlink.com
Answer: Dallas, SiteJabber rates it at 16%. It would surely rate lower if there weren't so many fake positive reviews. Folks review Nextdoor either 1 or 5. The fives read like ads about Nextdoor's features and potential. The ones are written by real people and give accounts of how awful their experiences were.
Answer: Several other reviewers on this site have had the same thing happen to them. We have been fully banned from nextdoor (beyond just "suspension"), but they keep our profiles, and sometimes our names still appear in the neighbor registry. They refuse to remove us fully, I suppose, in an attempt to misrepresent our endorsement and participation there. It's clearly unethical, but their TOS states that they can do this, as any nd apologist will point out.
Answer: Here's a tidy answer from corporate... Hi Colleen, Thanks for getting back to me. Our Community Guidelines prohibit posting about Lead activity on the main newsfeed. If your Leads are inactivate and youre concerned about moderation in your neighborhood, you should reach out directly to Nextdoor Support. If you have any specific concerns I can help you with at this time, please let me know. Best, Amanda Nextdoor However, the minute you alert corporate to issues with leads in your community you'll find your account terminated. They are very protective of the information surrounding who really is controlling the activities on the boards. Most people in my community are under the misguided impression that corporate is in control. They don't even consider it is their neighbor who sits in judgement.
Answer: Nextdoor wants your full legal name, house number and address and your email address that they link all together. As an added bonus... They have a little map that you can click on. That way if, OMG, you offend someone the little map leads them straight to your house. Run, do not walk, away from this site. No good comes from Nextdoor.
Answer: Your name and address will be known to everyone who uses the NextDoor application and website. I don't suggest using it. I recently discovered that low income apartments in ghetto areas might be able to use the application to do crime. Car theft, asaaults, kidnapping and just about everything else under the sun.
