Same issues
August 9, 2017

I closed this account after 6 years, they reverse good payments and raise your interest rate, then if you try to use your deposit to pay off the balance they threaten you with placing a chargeoff on your credit. I have 1500 in deposit, I dont known where these funds are deposited and they claim it will take 12 weeks to get my money back I am going to seek legal counsel

Does the job
July 21, 2017

I came to this country a year ago and had 0 line of credit. I put in a 300 dollar deposit to get a 300 dollar limit and paid off little things with it here and there and 6 months later I applied for a discover studen card and was approved for a thousand dollar limit.

I haven't had any issues so i havent need to contact customer service or anything but, its a great way to BUILD YOUR CREDIT.

I've had no problems got this card two years ago used it for 6 month to build credit then got a regular credit card. Not the best but it's a secured card with no credit check so what do you expect? Honestly pay for bill well before the sue date and use it to build your credit the way it was intended and you shouldn't have any problems.

HORRIBLE
July 11, 2017

DO NOT GET THIS CARD! The only reason I chose THIS card is becasue they tell you that you do not need a bank account. I tried to make a payment and now they tell me I need a bank account. Then when I asked to cancel the card because I DON'T have a bank account they tell tha tthe balence must be at 0. So instead of them keeping the money I already paid them they want me to pay them again only to refund me money which can take up to TWO MONTHS. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. No response when my card took two weeks to get to me after multiple attempts in reaching them either. SAVE YOURSELF A WASTE OF YOUR TIME AND MONEY.

I opened this card not reading the reviews and now am wondering when I will receive my deposit back. I closed out my account with paid in full on 06/2017 and I am still waiting for my deposit of a measly $200. I did not appreciate them holding my available funds for over a week after the payment posted. This company likes to earn interest when we make payments by not making the funds available immediately. Not only that, they hold our deposits for over 2 months after we close out the account to earn extra interest. Now imagine doing this to thousands of people you can see how they earn more interest! Also, when you call customer service or billing dept they are instructed to tell us that it will be 10 weeks for processing and 7-10 business days for receipt of the check in the mail. If you do the math this adds up to 3 months before we see our refund of the deposit. They use a bank to draft your bank checking account but they will not pay for the credit in reverse since you would get the credit back in 1 business day and opensky has to pay extra for that. They are not in the business to lose interest or get your money back to you quickly. I think the bank they use should revoke their credit draft process and report negative credit reporting process. Oh I can say this since I used to work at a banking system for many years and know that drafting is credit driven even for this credit card company and their credit draft processing should be revoked!

Shady!
June 23, 2017

Beware! Once you make your payment and it posts, open sky still holds the payment for 5 to 7 business days, not allowing you to use the money on your card. Ridiculous! Paid the balance from my checking account and now will be broke for another week! Do not get this bogus card!

Absolute worst
May 31, 2017

Would rate 0 if possible. First of all, If I had known this company's communication was so pitiful, I would have NEVER done business with them. They do not send confirmation emails or updates on the account, once you close the account you no longer have access to the online dashboard even if you're still making payments so you're forced to call and speak with their illiterate representatives. They make you wait 10+ weeks to receive your deposit... this place just needs to shut down! I was in dire need of rectifying my credit and made a horrible choice to go with this company... DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS PLACE!

Horrible
April 29, 2017

Didn't receive my card for 3 months. Then I had to move and update my mailing address. I got it in a week to find out they charged me late fees twice for a card I never had in my possession to activate. The day I got my card and activated it I paid my 35.00 fee and believe since that takes so long there's another late fee. This is ridiculous. I haven't made one purchase with this card and haven't even had it activated a full week yet owe almost more than the deposit I put into it.

I have made 5 phone calls. Thy said my checking account changed and couldn't file my payments so when I would try to pay it would reverse and charge me for it. I called to ask the problem they said incorrect checking account was filed. I attempted to change it twice still was not working. Then they said it takes a week for pending charges and I can only do one until the other one takes a week to process. They can barely help on the phone but to repeat themselves. When I had told them I had called five times and the again repeating themselves! They offered no compensation for incorrect instructions and letting me get charged. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I am paying it off and one month and closing this piece of $#*! company that ruined my $#*!ing credit. I hate their $#*!ing customer service!

The only bad experience Im having with this car is the fact that it takes a whole week for my payment to actually post on my account. I HATE THAT! If I made a payment today(Thursday), why do I have to wait until next Thursday to actually use the money?!?! It makes no sense! Other than that, it help my credit tremendously! So I guess I will deal with it until my credit gets to where I need it to be.

I moved to the US in 2016 and got this card as an attempt to build credit. No wonder it was so easy to get - this card has been an absolute nightmare since say one.

THEY WILL NOT LET YOU PAY YOUR BALANCE

They return payments they never even attempt to take in order to issue you with 'reversal fees'

They don't post your payments until after the due day so they can issue you with 'late fees'

STAY AWAY FROM THIS SCAM COMPANY

Last week I received an email saying they raised limit by $100 with no additional deposit for paying on time. Still not having any problems. Pay my statement balance off online. Website is easy. As of today it's all good.

Terrible customer service. After building up my credit I decided to keep this card open with a running zero dollar balance to show a credit history. Then THEY opted me in to paper statements with out my acknowledgement and charged me money every month for this service that I DID NOT opt in to. When I confronted them about it Tiara, one of the customer service agents, told me to pay it or I'd be sent to collections.

So the very thing I was relying on this card to do became counterproductive to my overall goal. When I finally got on the phone with someone that actually knew what customer service was, they waived the fees and closed the account.

BE AWARE OF HIDDEN FEES, CLOSE IT ONCE YOU BUILD YOUR CREDIT UP.

Consistently take your payment and then delay until after due date to process so they can charge late fee. Never reply to calls or emails.

Secured credit cards are an interesting aspect of Modern Life. For so many of us who need to rebuild or build credit for the first time, they are a necessary part of that process. I found applying for the card and setting up everything to be quite simple, and had no issues throughout the entire process. Because my credit limit for this card is quite low, I don't use it very often as it's very easy to create a larger percentage balance of your credit limit then you intend to. However, I've never experienced any late fees or problems with my account credit incorrectly. I absolutely set up automatic minimum payments for this account. The best thing that anyone with credit issues can do is to actively utilize minimum payment auto pay. It prevents you from making any kind of mistake that damages your credit score. If you know you've used more for the month than the minimum payment will cover, it's easy enough to pay a larger payment on top of it, but that's up for everyone else to manage. So much of the negativity I see here is from people who don't seem to understand how a secured card works. Secured credit cards are under no obligation to return your deposit even when you've shown good and appropriate use of the card. There's absolutely nothing in the application or faq area indicating that they would return this deposit either. Some larger credit card companies, like discover, are well-known for returning the security deposit after you have proven to be a reliable customer. That is usually not the case with smaller companies that cater specifically to people with credit issues. Like any other Financial instrument, you are responsible for sign up for. For many, just having access to a credit card to begin rebuilding credit is worth whatever amount you put up up front. If $200 is something you cannot afford to leave floating on your financial records, you're probably not in a condition to begin rebuilding Credit in the first place.

CRAAAAAPPPYY!
February 5, 2017

In 5 seconds they took my $200 for secure, used it for 6 months was great for that. It boosted my credit score great in the 6 months problem is they are not like other secured cards where after 6 months your secure funds are returned and you get a credit boost on the card, you only have credit what you put on, BIGGEST PROBLEM NOW is they took 5 seconds to take my money and now OVER # MONTHS TO GET MY FUNDS RETURNED so not only they get your interest from the use of the card they get interest until they DECIDE to send you your funds back AFTER calling 12 times and COMPLAINING this card SUXS!
