Here’s what consumers have asked with answers from OpenSky Credit Card staff and previous consumers.
I too, gave the my money on 2/21/17 and am still waiting on a card so that I may use my funds that I gave them!
They are legitimate but a very poor choice for rebuilding credit due to their poor operations.
When I applied about a year ago, I waited a month and never received my card, so I called them to find out what was up. I had been given a card # or account #, they ended up cancelling that number and creating/sending me the new one. It arrived around 2 weeks after calling because of the original "issue", whatever that was. I think the original arrived like 2 days after calling & I called back to make sure about activating the right one and only one and my score wouldn't get dinged out the gate closing the 1st, it was a mess, but has been great once that was sorted.
I got a letter stating up to 10 weeks. What a grifter organization. Probably Hunter Biden is on their board and the big guy runs the check book!
They never answer at either number. I am meeting with an attorney today who said I ( and all of us) have a very strong case. That's all I can say for now.
I use mine at the grocery store whenever I go, but was unable to at the gas pump (outside), because it kept wanting a pin #, which I don't recall ever receiving a pin number. The grocery store never asks, I use the chip side, as well as self checkout lane. Perhaps if I had gone in it would've worked like the grocery, I just have an aversion to people & didn't want to be stuck at the register if it was going to be the same issue. My bank card had just expired, the new one has the same number but different exp. Date, it wouldn't accept the pin I had been using on the previous card. That's why I tried the OpenSky one. So I have to find out if or what the pins are now on both these. Most my bank card purchases are online and don't ask for pin either. Fortunately I know some gas station pumps ask for zip code rather than pin, so I had to drive around on fumes to one I knew did after wasting 30 minutes playing pin games at various gas stations and seeing if they'd take the OpenSky like the grocery always does. My new bank card thankfully worked there using zip code. Just thought it was something to be aware of so you don't wind up out there surprised like I did trying to make a vital purchase like gas for your car. I haven't called them to find out if OpenSky even has a pin, it's really the reason I came here to see if it was mentioned, but I haven't seen any questions about it.
In my experience, it took up to a month, but perhaps less, before it showed up. I regularly check my credit record through my bank's website, but I didn't check it for about a month after I got the OpenSky card. The information about the card, its limit, balance, percentage of credit used, etc... was already there after that one month. So it could have been reported sooner than that, but I wasn't checking sooner than that.
No it's not a scam. It took about 2 weeks to get my card. It's never once been declined. I just maxed it out and went $46 over my available credit limit. I was able to go over my available credit at a gas pump. I just made my very first payment for the full $546. Still waiting for it to process. See how it goes. But totally not a scam
It says at the payment site it can take up to 5 days: "It typically takes up to 5 business days following the receipt of your payment to restore your Available Credit for future purchases." Although, I made a payment about 24 hours ago, it shows as Paid at my Bank and both Last Payment that amount and with my full Available Credit under "Account Summary" at OpenSkyCC, but under Payment History does not show this most recent payment yet and under "Pending Payment" it says Processing. So it appears to be pretty quick, but I'd just expect the 5 days to process to be safe.
