We made reservations to celebrate Valentine's Day at Table 29 through OpenTable. We made reservation at Table 29 because on the same premises, there is a spa. I planned a romantic afternoon to have lunch at Table 29 and then walk to our massage/facial appointment thereafter. We arrived on time at Table 29 to find out the restaurant was closed. Complete disappointment! We ended up having lunch at a Sonic burger join. How unromantic! Needless to say, I have brought this to OpenTable's attention 5 days ago and to date, no one has responded to my message. Completely embarrassing and unprofessional.
During the pandemic, many of us were unable or unwilling to risk our health by dining in restaurants. Despite the pandemic, Opentable confiscated my over 2,000 points by enforcing their "no dining in 12 months = points will be voided" policy. If credit card companies and utilities were willing to help customers during the pandemic, Opentable should have extended the expiration period. Instead, they were stingy and short-sighted.
This site is a scam. It has given my computer a virus. Every time i log on to any food, hotel, car, travel site open table takes over and I can't get around it. STAY AWAY
It will not let you unsubscribe!
Open Table is fine for people who live life like an "algorithm "... most people don't. Attempt to explain a particular restaurant reservation or change on Open Table is not an easy task! I notice that restaurants are allocating an amount of time you can use a table... this really is not acceptable. Open Table promote this table "allocation time" because it facilitates it's time schedule "algorithms". Restaurants using OpenTable exclusively have now lost the capacity to have a personal relationship with their clients. I have noticed that OpenTable links within restaurants websites are becoming the only way to reserve a table. Not all restaurant tables are equal, table preferences are no longer easily accessible to restaurant customers. I seriously will no longer use OpenTable... if I can't book direct with the restaurants, forget it.
I got a nasty email from open table saying I didn't keep my reservation. This was about an hour after I left the restaurant. Since the employee didn't click something or acknowledge something, OpenTable cake at me with attitude. Will not use again. I will just call the restaurant directly than be harrassed by a company like OpenTable
The reservation worked fine, but they sent me an email accusing me of not showing up, and whining about how the restaurant had lost business. I did show up. We spent a bunch. Next time I will just phone the restaurant for a reservation, these people are very annoying.
For the third time, I have cancelled a reservation I made through open table online. I have the cancellation in my email. They sent me a nasty gram this morning that I did a no show, and unfortunately, there is nowhere to respond to them. Impossible to send them an email with proof, and of course, no human is around to take your call. I'm waiting for another app to appear and run them out of biz.
Well leave it to the techies to ruin a good thing. Open table no longer gives out checks and instead requires an electronic certificate that is only usable at a few restaurants not all of those where you can make reservations. I will stop using open table and start making the reservations myself again.
What a way to ruin a good system.
Good bye Open Table.
This is the worst booking app on the planet; hands down; the app jumps all over the place and has no stability; seems like this would be an easy app to set u but open table rates as the worst app I have ever used
Booked with Open Table only to be told an hour before the reservation that it wasn't valid because the restaurant is actually closed. Huge disappoint and a ruined evening. Contact the restaurants directly, do not trust this website.
Answer: I don't know, but I do know that Open Table gets $1 from the restaurant for each person on the reservation. So they make $8 for a party of 8, but give a (puny) $1 to the person booking it. Good point to bring up with them.
