This is very sad because Peapod used to be the best delivery service in my area. Slowly customer support became nonexistent and their policies are suspect and what I mean is that when an item is on sale they do not deliver saying it is out of stock even though it is still on their website as in stock. I think they want to substitute with a cheaper item but I don't allow substitutions. You can never reach them by phone and they do not reply to emails. The drivers are nice thus the two stars UPDATED 2/28/2022 Everything is back to normal and things have changed dramatically for the better so all is well that ends well.
My husband, myself and daughter are sick. We ordered 3 times and we're no shows. They lied on us and used a number I changed personally 4 years ago. They've used the right number in the past. I have never wanted people fired before now! No compensation was offered as well. Shame on them!
I used to love Peapod--who doesn't want groceries delivered their door? But they have some problems. Firstly they don't operate everywhere so when I'm visiting my family I can't use them. Secondly, I've found the produce and vegetables to be not that fresh compared to a farmers market or even a Whole Foods. So I only really use them for non perishable groceries. But then I realized I could get a lot of that stuff from Amazon with Amazon Prime and that ended up being cheaper oftentimes. So Peapod is OK but it really needs to get better.
I understand that every one of us are facing hardships due to the global pandemic. Many supplies are hard to come by. With that said, I can't understand my failure to secure a delivery slot despite making over 200 attempts in 6 days. With items assembled in my cart for the past 6 days, I visit the delivery schedule grid multiple times per hour 20 hours out of a 24 hour day. Several times, I go to the grid, where there are no openings, visit 5 minutes later, and see a new day added with the slots completely sold out. Day after day after day. Are there others like me who are doing the same thing but are more tech savvy than me or do they visit twice as many times as I've visited? Love to know the answer. Can't ask Peapod; they disconnected their email option for the present time.
Waited 3 weeks to get delivery and all along it said it had my stuff but day of delivery got less than half i I ordered. Paid a great driver tip too!
Not going to use again unless they can improve. I think it's just better to go in and get. I can't believe that they only had 1 ice cream and not 2. I don't think they take the time to fill the list.
Second time since using peapod where they have delivered incorrect items and don't offer refunds nor offer to replace the item with the item that was actually ordered. Their policy is 'store credit' meaning the customer will be credited once they return to the site to make more purchases. If this isn't deceptive, I don't know what is. Won't be using peapod again.
Had to fight to get itemized list. Not surprisingly, I was charged for items I did not receive. $22.00 worth of I received items. I have informed them of this but am not getting any response. I have used fresh direct and Instacart with never a problem. Pea pod should be banned from NYC
1/2 of my order was missing and the only resolution was to set up a different day to deliver? Why would I want to wait again for groceries. I obviously have to shop today now. Are they even sure they can handle getting it right on a different day. Pathetic
Peapod!
Peapod is a super service. They have a wide range of products including a branded product that's great for stocking up on staples. In 3 1/2 years I have never had a major issue with this company. The drivers are the friendliest people imaginable. Any small issue with a missing item has always been dealt with one point of contact, no arguments or long explanations necessary. Lots of promotions so you can usually get free delivery. Even in the dead of Winter when the walkways are tundras of snow and ice... the Peapod guys make it through with your order. That's five star service to me.
Excellent and trustworthy grocery delivery service. Provides almost all the foods you need, and delivers in a professional manner. Everything comes in perfect condition, the delivery drivers have been on time, and it saves me time through the past orders. Easy to use site, and service. Would highly recommend Peapod for grocery deliveries to anyone. It's the best one I've used for delivery!
I decided to try Peapod after a friend recommended them. Having placed my order 8 days prior to delivery you would think they would have the nonperishable items available or at least put aside for my order. Order arrived today and wow what a big disappointment. Eggs were broken and container was soaking wet. Fruit was smashed. Out of 8 frozen food items ordered I received one. Not one paper product was delivered. No paper towels, napkins, toilet paper, paper plates, nothing. My $100 order was cut in half. Now I have to go to the store and buy the missing stuff anyway. Very disappointed in PeaPod and will never use again.
Sent 5 emails requesting a credit for goods not received. They resend a standard email telling me how to check my order status even though my delivery was completed with items missing.
I used to use this food service on a semi regular basis. After 10 hrs and 5 emails I am contacting my credit card company because these people have horrible customer service.
I placed an order on 3/19/20 and was charged $320. Half of the items I selected were out of stock (understandable during this time) but I wasn't refunded any of my money. Customer service said they charged my debit card as a hold and the money would return to my account 24-48 hours. It's been over a week and I just got another charge for $190. Probably what the groceries were worth after not receiving half of what I ordered but I still haven't gotten a refund for the first deduction. I paid over $500 for a few bags of groceries. Complete Rip off.
I ordered 27 items. I got 9. They're blaming Coronavirus for all their shortages and bad service. They're out of bread, eggs, milk, Classico Plum tomato and olive sauce for over a month, bacon, and toilet paper, among other things. Call them and you'll wait up to an hour to talk to someone, so you just hang up. They're getting worse instead of better.
I made a large order 2 weeks in advance and $130 of the items I ordered were out of stock even though the website says they are available. Why even make them available and then get my hopes crushed? They notified me of this after it was too late to change my order and never bothered to substitute the majority of the items that were out of stock. I would not use them in normal circumstances.
Just got my second order from Peapod and they really are as great as I first thought. Fruits and veggies are perfect. Could not have chosen better myself. Got every item in my order. Substitutes chosen when necessary are great. So thankful this service is available. Worth waiting for!
Tip for consumers:
Start looking for a delivery time as soon as your order is delivered. Can add to the order during wait time.
Check delivery times often for cancellations and hop in.
I am a 76 y/o retired physician, avoiding groceries shopping for fear of coronavirus. Two days ago I got my groceries, several items missing, no invoices about what I paid for! Calling them is useless, no one answers. Sent them two emails, no responses! In contrast to Costco delivery team, twice have delivered my my stuffs, without anything missing and send me my shopping bills within a few minutes.
Site is slow, keeps shutting down freezing. Then when you try to set up delivery time, there are no times available past 2 weeks. Poor job by Stop and Shop meeting needs of the public during COVID 19. We are better than this but Stop and Shop is not.
I made a purchase over a month ago and I'm still fighting with my bank and Peapod to get my refund back. They charged my card the same day and called me an hour later saying that they were out of stock. But the problem is I still have not gotten my refund for the canceled order and I've been trying for the last month between them and my bank. This is the worst company I've ever bough from and I may have to give up at this point on getting my money back because I'm tired of fighting with them, giant and my bank to get my money back. Do not buy from this company you will regret it.
This would be a great service... if it ******* worked! It crashes all of the time. I spend some time carefully selecting groceries only to have the service crash halfway through the process. This has happened twice now. Screw it, I might as well just go to the store.
They constantly "forget" to deliver groceries, deliver to the wrong address. They have terrible customer service. Everyone on the phone states they cannot "do that" for any questions. No one seems to take responsibility for their actions. Terrible customer service Terrible delivery service. I would NOT USE THEM!

The search bar rarely works so it's hard to find products you need. The search bar for coupons never works so you spend a lot of time going through the list of coupons to find relevant ones. They cancel items often. Just don't make it available to put in my cart if you don't have it. That simple. I've given up trying peapod because it's so time consuming due to its terrible website.
You have to wait sometimes 2 weeks for your order. Most times half the order wont show up. But yet the items are in stock. I think the people who shop dont bother for the most part getting everything you ask for. If the items are there why wont you send them to me! Its aggravating! We are in the middle of a pandemic and people need there food. If its in stock make sure to deliver it! Also so many times you get items that are broken and dented. Dont they check as they grab things to make sure they are in good shape?
I recently ordered for the 1st time from peapod. The breads meats, lunch meat had sell by dates of the 14th. My milk container is leaking. I spent 176.00 on old food. I picked up the products on the 15th. I felt as if they were just unloading their old merchandise into my cart. I never used this service but had to due to having surgery. Also they have designated parking for pick up but this isn't enforced either as customers that are in the store shopping are using these spots. I tried to contact them but was disconnected telling me the call volume was too high and to call back later. Im asking for full refund if I can get through. Very dissatisfied and disappointed with this service.
I ordered groceries for delivery, they never showed up or called. When I called to see what was going on they directed me to accounts receivable, the woman who gave me the name Kat was very rude and unprofessional... she told me there was an outstanding balance of someone who previously lived here and they wouldnt deliver until it was paid. That's outrageous! I then asked for my money to be returned... she rudely told me it was already processed and to wait 3-5 days... its already been 5 days. The man I previously spoke to before her said he saw my order was cancelled but it hasnt been refunded yet. Is this your Peapod promise? Stressing out customers! I will no longer shop in your store and I now understand why you have the low rating you do. Hire better people with customer service skills
Food orders are backed up two weeks in advance, which is understandable. What's not understandable is cancelling the order because a two zipcode town tripped the computer or whatever, and making customers who were already with limited food reserves have to reorder through the two week waiting period again. Not an ounce of human sympathy during a global pandemic. Buerocracy at its finest.
I ordered groceries from peapod - got a text saying that the driver was in my neighborhood and I was next on the list. I went down, stood at the door and watched the driver deliver to my neighbor, then drive by my house without stopping. Then I got a text from peapod informing me that my groceries were delivered.
I've called; their phone system no longer even puts me on hold, just tells me to call later because the call volume is too high. I've sent emails; they reply that they'll respond within 5 business days. I've submitted webforms. The only reply asked me to check to see if the groceries had been delivered yet - which indicates that they hadn't read the part of the email where I said, "I watched the driver drive by without stopping".
