Priceline Reviews Summary

The overall reputation of the company reveals significant dissatisfaction among customers, primarily due to issues with booking accuracy, hidden fees, and inadequate customer service. Many reviews highlight frustrations with non-refundable reservations and uncommunicated changes, leading to feelings of being misled. While some customers appreciated the initial pricing, the subsequent hidden costs and lack of support during disputes overshadowed these positives. A recurring sentiment is a lack of accountability from the company, prompting numerous customers to vow never to use the service again. I was planning our first family trip after no travel during the pandemic. Traveling with two children including a newborn is stressful enough. I booked a trip with the notion that I was paying a lower price than what was actually presented to me on my email confirmation. I understood that the reservation was non refundable however, modified price was not made clear to me on my reservation (not sure if there was a glitch). Immediately after placing the reservation and upon reviewing the email confirmaiton I realized the change in price (increased by $300 from what was initially presented to me) and contacted customer service online via chat. After speaking to an agent, the chat was ended by the agent even after I was not finished expressing my concerns and situation. I had to call customer service and the staff was not helpful at all. They kept insisting that the reservation was non refundable which I understood but would not address the price change. I understand that the prices fluctuate time to time but there needs to be a better way to communicate these to customers while reserving online. I spoke to a third agent who initially appeared to be somewhat keen on resolving the issue however, upon further discussion was not willing to provide any assistance to resolve this issue. I explained that this would be the last time i would be doing business with priceline because the customer was not put first.

Pricebreakers
April 30, 2022

Now I see why they have pricebreakers listed on the web-site, the prices are going to break you every time. I was looking for cheap monthly extended stay hotels. First ones I pulled up started at over $300.00 a night.

I booked hotel reservations through Priceline.com. I traveled 2 states away, which was over 9 hours of driving. When I arrived at my destination, I was told that the hotel was overbooked, and they had no room for me. This was the LAST thing I wanted to hear, after a long drive and not knowing anyone in the area. No other hotels had room either, due to an Apple Blossom Festival occurring that weekend. The associate at the hotel front desk told me that Priceline "buys up so many reservations, without knowing how many rooms there truly are available. Also, Priceline doesn't share individual's contact information with hotels - if they had, the hotel front desk would have contacted me before my trip began, I wouldn't have wasted 20 hours!

We bought our tickets with the upgraded seat selection fee. When I called Priceline, they told us we never paid for it and it's United Airline who took that amount. When I called United, they said it's the travel website who took that amount. Priceline kept denying they ever received the amount. I kept receipt of everything we paid for including the original price of the ticket without upgrade and the amount that was taken from my card included the seat selection amount. I even sent them the receipt stating I did, in fact, paid the extra amount. Even with proof, they state we didn't. The customer service is absolutely horrible where they keep repeating back the number to me and coming up with excuses. The lack of accountability and unprofessional service is absolutely disgusting to see. I even broke down the calculation on paper and sent it to them in case they don't understand. This whole experience is so frustrating. Priceline is a scam overall and not any better than other sketchy websites. Don't book through Priceline.

Their customer service was awful. The representative, who definitely was not based out of the US, couldn't help so I asked to speak with someone higher. I was told I would be put on a brief hold but they will be right with me, held for 30 minutes and they hung up. I called back and asked to talk with someone higher and was on hold for an hour only to be told oh well nothing we can do. The fees if you want to cancel a reservation even if it is over 30 days out is ridiculous. This was my first time using them and definitely my last. Every single one of my friends and co workers I've told also agreed don't bother with them. Better off booking directly through the hotel

Searched and found a Family Room hotel booking for 2 adults and 2 children (aged 6 and 8). I made sure to double and triple check the details before making payment since this was a non-refundable offer. The email confirmation then only showed a Double Room was booked!.

The customer Assistant at Priceline mentioned their rooms are only guaranteed for up to 2 adults and I need to ask the hotel directly myself for their discretion if they will allow me to check in my children. WTH?! I don't mind paying extra but the fear is they may not have a suitable family room remaining to accommodate the 4 of us.

Now I have the hassle of communicating directly with a foreign hotel to explain the situation. What a hassle!

No problems
April 18, 2022

When booking on Priceline for me, it was easy and even had flights that no other site had with a great price and no lay overs. I would recommend Priceline because of my good experience.

I had reserved a rental car through Priceline back in February. The car company Ace had provided me with a car that was substandard and I returned it for a full refund 5 minutes later. The charge on my card was $255.47, Ace only returned $224.47 which was $31.00 short. Ace explained to me that they were only paid $224.47 which was the reason for the refund being $31.00 short. Ace stated the other $31.00 that you're looking for was the charge that Priceline charged. So I reached out to Priceline only to be told they could not help me. They refused to reimburse the $31.00, I will never use this online company again.

We waited about 1.5 hours in line to process our order. Then we waited another 1.5 hours in another line, because no vehicles were available. Missed two appointments. Traumtic, stressful.

My son booked tickets for my husband and myself from Naples, Italy to Dulles airport. He is living in Naples and trying to help us. He failed to put my middle name "Ann" on the ticket. I contacted Priceline immediately. They said to contact Turkish airlines. Turkish airlines said it is a third party transaction and Priceline must make the correction. I called Customer service, supervisors at Priceline many times with absolutely no help. I had to rebook the trip. Total amount I am out is $643. I wish I could give a zero star.

Beware of the hidden charges after you book using priceline.com
I booked a rental car from Economy car rental in Hollywood Florida through priceline.com and at the car rental desk, they forced me to pay 70% of my rental bill as waver, knowing that i provided my own car insurance and I paid in full in advance online, because i have a Canadian driver license and not American driver license.

Like many folks, I don't mind using Priceline to help save a few dollars on a flight. However, my recent experience on April 11,2022 was horrible. I booked my trip many months in advance - with only 1 day notice, my flight itinerary was changed without my consent. The normal thing to do is work with the airline to (a) ask why this happened and (b) find replacement options. For Priceline, you have to wait 30 minutes each time to speak to a customer service contact - they will transfer you to a "specialist" in the general queue and wait another 30 minutes. It will take 1 hour to process any simple request. Going forward, I will never use Priceline. All users should be warned that if there is a flight issue (change / cancel), you will be miserable. So much better to book direct with the airline. Thanks

Cheater company
April 11, 2022

I wanted to book a hotel where pets are allowed, so i set the filter in the search for pets. When they showed the hotels, they offered a deal where I get 20% rebate when I accept that they will chose 1 out of 3 listed hotels (I had no impact which of the hotels). I did it and then found out that the hotel I booked does not allow pets. The booking cannot be changed, I had an online chat with a priceline agent minutes thereafter, still they did not accept a cancelling.

Absolutely do not book with them! They charged us for two rooms, their supplier didn't have two rooms. They refused to compensate us for their mistake. Then, the Priceline manager was verbally abusive to us. We had to fight them to get refunded for a room they never booked — becuase it wasn't available.

As stated above, I unexpectedly lost my 35yo husband to Covid. Priceline has been an absolute nightmare to deal with. We had a flight, hotel, & rental care thru Priceline & every step has been a disaster. I am still waiting for a refund on a flight we had to cancel for our family bc of his passing. I made several phone calls & provided everything they needed, including his death certificate twice… STILL NOTHING!

For reducing few dollars, we accepted so-called non-refund/non-cancellation policy for a rental car.
Things changed not always as you think, we really need to cancel this reservation. However, this policy is as rigid as possible after the click you made. To me, this non-refund/non-cancellation policy is the worst policy once so ever.
