I loved Pubby at first because of how fast the reviews were coming but after awhile most reviews are generic and you can tell that the reader never read your work. Most won't even buy your ebook either. Second, reviews are now disappearing from Amazon like wild fire. This has been happening from September 2021- January 2022. Don't waste your money on this site. It's not worth it and you will see your reviews deplete within a few weeks or month after it's been posted. I am beyond pissed off because of this and will be using more legit review sites that have real readers.
Customer service (particularly by Mary) is embarrassingly bad. There is no FAQ on the site so you're forced to use the chat. Admittedly, she did respond quickly but with a snarky tone to a simple question.
It's also designed for only US citizens. She stated that you can simply "create an account, make a purchase, and leave a review". Amateur hour - it's not that simple.
Just. Stay. Away.
They promise more reviews than they can deliver-the one review I did get was a three star when all 30 something of my other reviews was 5 star and a few four stars. Very annoying because I saw elsewhere that a few reviewers on the site are just leaving 1 and 2-star reviews, and support just lets them.
They don't add enough option to modify or remove our books that we uploaded. They try to fix an issue and messed up my account but instead of trying to fix everything they just suspended me. When I try to contact them they just push the ball away and after trying to resolve their issue that they made themself they just suspended and banned me. Can't open a new account and all this coming from their side.
Basically the idea is good but don't plan a marketing strategy with this platform because it's run super strangely and it's no reliable.
Raison for suspension: "SUSPENDED"... they don't even know why!
Sadly I don't recommend...
Terrible experience, $240 per year and then you have to spend more money buying or earning Snaps to get ONE review on your own book...! And then in my own case, PUBBY even approved a ONE star review from one of their reviewers (After giving them a free copy of the book) which was totally unfair as I already had a confirmed purchase 4 star review, am a well established author with over 130 plus books on Amazon... and they expect authors to subscribe! Unbelievable.
Pubby. Co has a solid concept in theory. The idea of exchanging book reviews through a credit system is appealing for authors and readers. However, the execution is deeply flawed. The platform is plagued with technical issues, and the support team is almost nonexistent. When problems arise and you try to escalate them, you often receive automated responses instead of real help. The review verification system is unreliable, and users are now being penalized for reviews they've already completed simply because the system fails to detect them. Snaps (credits) are deducted unfairly, and you're forced to manually prove your Amazon reviews over and over again. It's become more hassle than it's worth. Unless they completely overhaul the platform, it's best to look for alternatives. I've cancelled my subscription after they couldn't get it together. It just kept getting worse.
I wanted more reviews for my books, and I'm getting them. Granted, I've had to pay a subscription fee and review some other books (some of which require a purchase) - but I read a lot anyway, and my average cost per review ($1 - $5 depending on what I choose to read and review) is far less than at places like Kirkus.
I didn't know pubby existed. I found them by accident because onlinebookforum services (which, by the way, I do not recommend, you will waste your money there). Pubby.co review exchange actually work. Now, sometimes the platform is a little buggy and they seem to have problems but their customer services would get back to you when contact them.
I do recommend them. I have not tried their marketing services so I am unable to tell you here.
Pubby is a site where you can get reviews from other authors. It's kind of an exchange, but not really. It just allows you to find people who can actually give your book the time of day; because they want the exact same. And it's enforced quite nicely, so it all works as intended, without having to rely on the goodwill of people (highly unreliable). Me like.
Pubby has been an invaluable source in helping with my book sales. I'm new to self publishing and it's challenging to get verified reviews on Amazon. This has been amazing at getting fantastic feedback from readers.
Pubby has really helped me a lot, especially in this pandemic period where everything seemed impossible - let alone being able to find feedback from readers, less and less inclined to release their thoughts.
It 'a service, that of Pubby, which should be replicated in many to make the life of us writers, easier. Exceptional experience that I share...
I appreciate how Pubby has an online chat that answers any questions that may arise. Even more, I enjoy being able to receive reviews that can be difficult to all authors. I wholeheartedly recommend Pubby because it gives my writing good exposure to the reading public. I am a fiction author who enjoys comedic scenarios related to my daily life. I enjoy hiking, travelling and cooking some of the most amazing dishes from around the world.
Great site for book reviews, I got my first review within a few days of joining, more to follow... I'll be staying with Pubby for the future as it allows me to work on getting the social verification to boost my book sales. Pubby are quick to answer any queries that I've had to date and have been very helpful when I've hit a roadblock. I would highly recommend Pubby for anyone publishing their first books to get reviews.
This is a fantastic service. I'm so grateful I've found it. I receive wonderful, thorough, specific reviews that really impress me. When I receive negative reviews, their constructive and give me great ideas for improving it. A lot of reviews on this website we're on are old so some of what they say doesn't apply anymore. One thing is that I think the price is $29.99 a month now. And I haven't had to deal with customer service so I can't comment on that. But if you need more reviews on Amazon, you've just found your miracle.
Pubby has been a great resource for me when launching new books or trying to revive an old one. As a self-published author, the first 15 reviews are critical to launching a book. Lets face it, no reviews = no sales. The key to getting reviews is to help other authors get theirs. It's a win win situation. I send up for a year subscriptions after the free trial showed me it was worth the money. I run wellness website and publish short self help books.
I am so glad I found Pubby! As a self-published author, it's so hard to get reviews - but Pubby has changed all that. Thanks to them, I now have a respectable number of 4 and 5 star reviews for my latest book, written by people who've actually read it, and authenticated by Amazon. Honestly, I cannot recommend them highly enough to any struggling author out there. Don't hesitate to give them a try.
This has been a useful service to gather reviews for my book. It takes a little bit of work to do reviews and get reviews, but it's been worth it. I've used it as an opportunity to read some books I probably never would have read otherwise. I've also received many solid reviews from others. I'll be using their feedback to improve my books in the future.
Customer service has been quick to respond the few times I needed assistance.
I think this is a particularly useful service for children's books.
I have tried several different marketing systems to promote my books and collect honest reviews but I have to say this is the easiest I found and the only one is really working. You also have the possibility to download and ready many books for free so you can enjoy your time and leave an honest review on other publisher's work
I was happy with the reviews I was able for receive through the service. It's easy to get the hang of and once you do, the reviews are done promptly and the staff makes sure each review is posted for you. When anything went wrong with a reviewer, they were able to find a new one for me without any problem.
All of the reviews are from other authors some wo are overly critical hurting the purpose. Overall the service gets your book reviews but not one sale has come from it. I will keep going and see what happens.
Answer: Very hard to get a response. Terrible customer service
Answer: That is your subscription price. Did you reach out to support to ask why you have not received any reviews? Support has been awesome.
Answer: You can charge a small fee. You will get more reviews if you offer a free read via pdf, epub or via kindle unlimited.
Answer: Pubby is an actual company but scammy in their practice and I wouldn't be surprised if it is a cover for a scam. The service is horrible and prevents you from moving forward, keeping you locked into the service. I canceled during my trial because of the crappy service. They take longer than four hours to "approve" your book. They hold you up from getting reviews, deactivating the button that lets you request reviews, even after you have reviewed books. They claim not to know if you have written reviews and ask you to contact support to reactivate the button on your account, but there is no real customer support. So, essentially, they deactivate your account so you cannot get reviews while they take your money and get reviews from you. I say don't bother.
Pubby has a rating of 2.6 stars from 123 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Pubby ranks 175th among Product Reviews sites.
