If you knit or crochet then you need this site for patterns, yarn reviews, friendship with other fiber artists and education in your craft. This is run by a small but amazing staff who are extremely responsive to all of your needs. And it's free!
I have only purchased one pattern through ravelry, the money was taken but I have not received the pattern. I've messaged ravelry and the designer directly through their own website and have had no response from either! Very disappointing as the pattern was lovely!
Huge variety of patterns available from beginner to very experienced. Plenty of paid and free patterns. Ability to keep your library of patterns onsite and catalog your yarn stash. Very helpful community. Have been utilizing Ravelry for 10+ years and look forward to continuing to do so.

Best resource for keeping track of your projects and supplies, to find new projects and be inspired. I love the community I have been able to find here, and I appreciate the efforts of everyone involved to keep it running! Never had any problems with the site.

I've used Ravelry for years and find it the most comprehensive site for fiber arts with an incredible treasure trove of patterns and a great community. In addition, the site is one of the best around in terms of usability.

This site is the lifeblood of the knitting community. It has so many amazing contributors, the interface is seamless and well designed and the community of members is welcoming. They have made some political statements lately but they do so in the defence of those whose voice is not being heard. I stand with them and support them.

Ravelry has been the best site for needlework crafters I've ever come across. Everyone is friendly, the website is very easy to use, and the searching capabilities are unmatched anywhere. Ravelry has been my go to when in need of a pattern no matter what I've been looking for, I've found it. Absolutely love this site.

I can put the type of yarn into the web site and it will pull up patterns that people have used that yarn on or I can pick a pattern and it will tell me if any of my stash would work for it. No other web site I have seen can do that.

I thought this site was about sharing patterns and yarnies work but I just found out that it is a political site! Very disappointing that the "boss" has decided to demand everyone agree with him or they aren't welcomed or allowed. In addition the site is asking others to report on "offenders". I wonder if they have to wear brown shirts?

I can't help but love a site that takes politics out of the yarn arts and makes a site that thinks of *all* of its members. Allowing posts/patterns that celebrate a racist/homophobe does not do this and I thank Ravelry for recognizing this and taking action.
That said, I never fail to find a pattern that works for me and fits my skill level. It's easy to search and find what I need.

I was on Ravelry for many years, but didn't take part in the forums. Consequently, I was unaware of the political agenda being put into action by the owners. I'm very disappointed in Ravelry and the firestorm they've unleashed in the fiberverse. Their actions are reprehensible and will have a long term negative effect on designers, yarn companies and consumers. The bright spot is the opportunity for more up to date sites to profit from the Ravelry exodus.

They labeled me and everyone supporting President Trump's as white supremacists. I had spent money there and enjoyed the place but I never participated in their forums. I knew they leaned left but I didn't hold it against them. Now I know they don't only lean left, but also have insanity.

I love that they have so many different crochet and knit patterns. The only problem is that it seems they are starting to get greedy. I have been noticing patterns go from free to costing money. However, their prices aren't bad and you get the pattern right away.

A wonderful sight for fiber artists of all ages an ability. They have tons of free and paid for patterns the patterns of are relatively inexpensive and they have some wonderful people in the community that you can talk to and ask questions.

Ravelry was my go to for patterns and dreaming of yarns until that Sunday when i logged in and got gut punched, I then found out I was a White Supremacist because I love God, Country and President Trump. You are allowing hate and bigotry towards anyone loving our President and the USA. No longer allowing free speech to anyone you deem white privileged, but you are ran and owned by a white privileged male. Not allowing any knitting showing support for our great country but allowing "$#*!" hats and all things hateful to our great country.

After many years on Ravelry, they have become quite against anyone who does not move in lock step. No matter your politics, they have chosen to disregard anyone who does not agree with their politics. IF you are a Trump supporter, you are considered a racist. Period. Full stop.
I have taken all my patterns out and have contacted the folks who develop patterns. I will get my patterns from their Etsy stores but not from Ravelry.
Bad business decision. It may end up for them the same as it did for ESPN. Tanking in ratings and followings
The GOOD news is there are three sites up and running that are going to have forums, patterns etc.
Fiberocity is one. Unraveled is another.
Bye bye R - at the very least you should have remained neutral. IT is sad that you SAY you welcome all and are against hate, yet if one checks the work Trump in patterns they will see quite a few that are obscene. Can you say "Hipocrite"?

I look for knitting patterns and information about yarn and yarn stores. I didn't know there were forums and until now, I wondered why it was called a social media website. The negativity has been out there in fiberland with many people looking for slights, passive-aggressively misrepresenting themselves and deliberately misunderstanding each other because they can do it anonymously. I hope the naysayers enjoy their many different, new websites. I will continue to look for knitting patterns and information about yarn and stores, both online and local, on Ravelry, because that's all I want from a needlework website. I get political support from political websites.

Ravelry is my favorite place on the internet. It's database and search functionality are both intuitive and comprehensive, the design is clean and attractive, the advertising is non-intrusive and relevant. Forums are lively and thought-provoking without allowing abuse. Great site.

If Hitler started a knitting club, this is what it would look like.
These people are the most hateful people on the web.
Don't believe me? Sign up and look around.
They make the KKK look like a... knitting club.

If you have yarn and need a pattern, want info about yarn, looking for a yarn shop, are looking for a specific item or a place to commune with fellow knitters, Ravelry is it. Easy to navigate with an encyclopedia of knitting patterns and yarn information, it is a must go to site for anyone interested in the fiber arts.

I was a member almost from the beginning and interacted often with other members around the world. When they started picking and choosing what was allowed and distinguishing between races, I chose not to be part of it. I have never questioned the race of who I was interacting with, be it white, black, Asian, etc., but when I was labeled a white supremacist because I support the president of the United States, I had had enough.

I've been a member since 2007. It's a fantastic resource for people in the fiber arts. You're looking for a pattern? Need some info on a brand of yarn? You can even keep track of your projects! Casey has built an amazing site over the past 12 years. Nothing else compares to Rav.
And yes, there are forums for groups. You can join/post at you want and read at your own discretion. As for those who are all "no politics in mah knitting," well, you don't understand the history of politics and fiber arts. BIPOC have the right to be able to participate, and to feel welcome, and the site owners have taken additional steps to ensure that. If you have issue with that, then you might need to do some self-evaluation.

I was hurt to be called a white supremest by people I have never met. I am a minority woman and I guess I didn't follow their narrative of a down trodden POC so I was banned and called hateful names. It's not worth the time to even be there anymore

I have used Ravelry for years. I love to search for new crochet patterns. That is pretty much all i really do on that website so that is all i will comment on. It has a great way to narrow down your search. I was just looking for "crochet fingerless gloves" that i want to makes for christmas presents. It is my go to site for inspiration.

A place to buy patterns or download free ones. A place to keep track of your yarn stash. A place to keep track of your projects. Forums for just about every topic under the sun. Helpful, responsible site owners and employees. Diversity friendly. Conscious of keeping the site safe for everyone.

The backlash of Trump supporters against Ravelry is both comical and saddening. Support of the Trump administration is support of their views, which include condoning white supremacy, discrimination against women in the workplace, misogyny, taking away LGBTQ civil rights, ignoring climate change for future generations to suffer, and advancing hate and fear of anyone who does not look like you. All of these agendas are in support of financially enriching Trump and his family. They do not serve the people. If you believe in such things, why do you want to bring that to knitting? Leave it out of Ravelry by taking yourself away if you are a source.

The best place to find knitting and crocheting patterns. Excellent site, search capability and forum support. They took a strong stance on active and tacit support of bigotry and white supremacy. The only social media site brave enough to do so.
