Ravelry has a rating of 3.1 stars from 510 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally satisfied with their purchases. Reviewers satisfied with Ravelry most frequently mention fiber arts, white supremacy, and social media. Ravelry ranks 1st among Yarns sites.
If you knit or crochet then you need this site for patterns, yarn reviews, friendship with other fiber artists and education in your craft. This is run by a small but amazing staff who are extremely responsive to all of your needs. And it's free!
I have only purchased one pattern through ravelry, the money was taken but I have not received the pattern. I've messaged ravelry and the designer directly through their own website and have had no response from either! Very disappointing as the pattern was lovely!
The idea is great. The operation is excellent. But the need to exclude people, just because Ravelry REFUSES to understand their position, is nothing short of discrimination and hate. I had very many patterns that I bought and chose for free in my library, but I coudn't stay, knowing that this company is acting in a way that is so devisive. I'll get my patterns elsewhere.

A great site that offers me the opportunity not just to track my projects and stash, but to see projects by other knitters, buy patterns, get suggestions, and learn of others modifications.

I joined as part of a group of crafters I'm 2011 and or was ok. Visiting recently I was impressed with the search and favoriting features. I especially like the maps of stores near me and the type searches for yarn.

This site has been my go-to for patterns and community, yarn products, and wisdom from knityers, crocheyers, and spinners for years. Their recent statement freeing the site from hate speech solidified my love for Ravelry. Thank you for being and for being such fab people!

Don't use Ravelry unless you want to risk having your personal information compromised. I've had terrible experiences with this website. It's not worth the risk.

They called anyone who doesn't agree with them a white supremacist.
Even the non-white ones.
Hypocritical. Stay in your lane and stop politicizing arts and crafts. It's stupid.

It's one of the best websites I've ever used, particularly in the forum design, and they make me feel welcome, which is wonderful. I absolutely love them, and have been a member for 12 years now

This site is unparalleled in the knitting world. Patterns, yarns, it's endlessly helpful for organizing your projects and making a queue for what you'll make next.

I've been a member since early 2009, and Ravelry is a site I visit daily for patterns, yarn reviews, learning techniques, and help with my projects. Wonderful, free service that never disappoints.

They have a large problem with copyrighted patterns being stolen and resold under the thief's name. This has been brought to their attention multiple times, and yet they do nothing about it.

Non inclusive, hateful, liberal, cowardly excuses for humans. If you are a supporter of President Trump they do not want your business. They will in fact ban you from their website.

Ravelry's database is the BEST place to find a pattern. There are so many search parameters, and you can search the forums for advice if you're stuck or don't understand.

I was a member of Ravelry for several years. I used the site to find patterns, and sometimes yarn. I did not join or post to any forums, and I did not store any project pictures or data there. Imagine my surprise on the morning of 6/23/2019 when I learned that I was now considered to be a white supremacist because I happen to support the current President of the United States! Per their loose, ever-changing definition of "hate speech," items such as "F**k Trump" and other derogatory things are okay, but American flags, "God is Love" hats, and other patriotic items are called hate speech. Even questioning their policy is hate speech, in their eyes. Although it was said that conservative members could stay as long as they didn't mention Mr. Trump, conservative groups and members have been actively hunted down and removed or suspended. Businesses and designers that don't openly publish support for Ravelry's censorship are bullied and harassed, especially on Instagram. Ravelry's white management claims to want a safe, inclusive environment for all. However, their actions and words display the very bigotry and hate they claim to be against. Some of the people broadly labeled as white supremacist are in fact members of the "marginalized groups" they pander to; some don't even support Mr. Trump but in fact stand against Ravelry's blatant acts of censorship. This site used to be okay, but now is so full of hate and hypocrisy that I cannot recommend it to anyone.

I bought many patterns from Ravelry over the years and wasn't even aware of the forums. I was just interested in the patterns and designers. I'm a knitter and crocheter. As soon as I was called a white supremacist for supporting the President of this country I couldn't support this site any longer. I just want to knit and crochet not talk or even hear politics! The owners of this site don't even know me! How could they even know if I was a white supremacist or not. That's ridiculous and foolish of them. Not a good business model in my opinion. And I'm a Christian. I tolerate and accept all people.

I have spent hundreds of hours on this site looking tgrough patterns. I have found it to be a wonderful library of knowledge and patterns. I am able to streamline a search and find whatever I want with total ease.
I love Ravelry and recomend it to any knitter and/or crocheter that I know.

I was a member for over 10 yrs until recently. I left because they don't want my kind there. Don't miss the site at all. Too bad I can't give them zero stars.

Unless you want to join an extremely leftist echo chamber don't bother joining here. You must agree with them politically or you will be asked to leave. Knitting and crochet are sidelined.

Completely fascist site. Unless you agree with their radical racist opinion, you are banned. I lost all my paid for patterns because I would not conform.

I spent many happy years on this site however, this site has been progressively more political. I want to knit, craft etc not get all involved in political divisions. Very primitive website.

I've been contemplating deleting my Ravelry account. While the resources are excellent, the site has become a cesspool of politics and overall nastiness. Let me start by saying that I am not American and have no dog in the fight, but I can't fail to see the Trump hate that has seeped into every crevice of the site. The owners certainly play favouritism, often being very rude and unfair to conservatives while allowing the liberals free reign to abuse their political opponents. I just want a fibre craft site to be just that - leave the politics outside please. Worse than the blatant left leaning favouritism, is the way the forums are completely overtaken by the long time regulars who can be absolutely mean. Sure there are nice and helpful regulars, but the negative ones spoil it and turn everything into a confrontation. If you are a Trump hater, you'll feel right at home. If you support him, better stay out of the main forums and stick to the pattern searches. I'm neither a Trump hater nor supporter, I'm just really sick of the fights and the attacks and the way the owners don't stay neutral.

How wonderful to see a company stand up for the values they believe in. Ravelry is a wonderful, supportive community and provides excellent resources for any project you could think of.

Amazingly useful, fun, and friendly. Multiple search and filter options, makes crafting easy. Inclusive policy is really not a problem unless you are a bigot.

I was a member of Ravelry for over a decade. When it was in dire need of funding to start up I donated; and they did not ask for my race, political views, sexual preference, religion or any of the other alphabet subgroups they support. Casey took my money in a flash without an acknowledgement or a thank you. Now that Casey has made his millions he has decided that a large group of people that supported Ravelry are hateful and should not have an opinion that he does not agree with and should be banned. Yes it is a private company, but their policy on group participation and 'group think' should have been stated in the beginning before I bought patterns and supported the advertisers. How selfish Casey is now that he has his millions to make a decision that negatively impacts the lives and financial well being of designers and advertisers. Designers and advertisers are being boycotted, new web sites are being created to fill this void; and though in their infancy they are thriving. Tyson A. Says that it is the best social media site in the world, but I thought was that Ravelry was a free site for people that knit or crochet, not a social media site for a specific and non-inclusive group of people. Casey boasts that Ravelry has 8 million members, but why every time I sign in to download my patterns (before I am banned) there are less than 1,800 people signed in? Should it not be millions online supporting designers, advertisers and each other as they enjoy their craft? Where are the other 7,800,000 people, or they just bots that were created to falsely inflate the number of members?

If I'm ever feeling hateful I know there is a one-stop-shop to go to. All have to do is pick a pattern, feel the hate and enjoy my afternoon knitting. WAIT. That's not why I knit. This group along with so many other liberal groups has gone to the limit to promote suppression of free speech and thought and to promote hate. I knit to relax, not to take my dislike of someone else's opinion out. I used to watch television to be entertained, not anymore. Same with ravelry. If these people hate as much as they do there are so many other violent and hateful groups on their side they should go there. I know they need to marginalize everything to promote their agenda, but knitting? This is what happens when you cannot convince people to swallow your values, but then why do your values have anything to do with knitting etc? If you find yourself so morally correct, why do you allow the hate and discontent in your patterns that fit your agenda? When looking at a pattern I could give a hoot if it was designed by a cow that thinks it's a bird, why do I even have to be told about the desires of this person. If the design is good Ill consider it. If it is hateful or not to my liking I still have the option scroll past it. I guess the people that would stick with this sight have no ability to censor what they are and are not supposed to believe, they need to have someone else do it for them. Sad situation but I can find ideas and patterns elsewhere. It was getting to the point where I was scrolling past so much discontent that it was probably time to leave anyhow. Knitting to RELAX, not HATE
