If you knit or crochet then you need this site for patterns, yarn reviews, friendship with other fiber artists and education in your craft. This is run by a small but amazing staff who are extremely responsive to all of your needs. And it's free!
I have only purchased one pattern through ravelry, the money was taken but I have not received the pattern. I've messaged ravelry and the designer directly through their own website and have had no response from either! Very disappointing as the pattern was lovely!
Best knitting/ crochet site on the web. More so because they have banned the pro Trump racists who can't seem to understand that by supporting a man who preaches white supremacy, they are in fact sanctioning his racist policies. If you are not a racist or white suprematist, why on Earth support one. It's lovely to now be able to chat about knitting, search the thousands of patterns etc without racist politics being involved. All the people on here are nice now. The

Stay as far away from this site as possible. The owners support and perpetuate bullying against certain groups of people based on race and political affiliation. They claim to be "tolerant," "inclusive," and a "safe space," however, this only applies to those with whom they agree. Ravelry has become an echo chamber for hate speech against those with Conservative points of view.

What was once a great site is now filled with hate and bigotry, exactly what they accused their conservative members of. They only keep liberal hate products such as $#*! hard and anti-Trump crap but that's okay. Never again, I would give them a penny of my money!

I've been a member of Ravelry for 10 years. It has one of the best databases I've ever seen, and I work in academic libraries. It's comprehensive and easy to use. I also love the community. I am able to network with other fiber artists who are passionate about their work. Additionally, Ravelry's recent stand against white supremacy makes me proud to be part of the community.

I am offended and disgusted by Ravelry's choice to make it a political platform. The owner could have kept his personal views private and not expressed his opinions in such a divisive, accusatory way. Apparently respect and acceptance were missing from his upbringing. I used to enjoy knitting in public but am starting to hear comments from people who unfortunately associate knitting with Ravelry's negativity. Way to go Ravelry. I guess you've ruined Knitting in Public day. Hopefully the more reputable vendors will offer an alternative outlet for their products so I can feel comfortable purchasing them. I have never participated in any of their blogs and have never considered knitting political. I respect the president of our country whether I agree with him or not. This does not make me a racist nor does it make me an advocate of white supremacy. My religious and political views are private and I am entitled to them without censorship from anyone or their website.
Tip for consumers:
Skip Ravelry and look for a neutral alternative

The most comprehensive knit/crochet pattern database on the web. Robust social media component w/ generally helpful and pleasant contributors. Recently had a purge of ignorant bigots and now the site is even better.

Ravelry is the only place online you can find pattern and yarn databases and track your own projects AND participate in inclusive forums surrounding avery wide variety of interests. It's just the best.

I've been a Ravelry member for about 10 years now. I've made life-long friends through the site, and shared a love of knitting, crochet, spinning and all things yarn. The site navigation is easy to use, and I love that you can search for patterns based on type, yarn used, etc. The community is always ready to step up and help, whether it be with a tricky pattern, or a personal issue. I can't say enough good things about this site and the people who run it. Ravelry literally changed my life for the better.

Patterns, projects notes, help from community, info on yarns and designers - it has everything and more. A lot of conservatives are angry at Ravelry for putting a policy in place of forbidding support for Trump and/or his administration, because it equates to support for white supremacy. They did this to protect their diverse community from some horrific acts. Anyone is welcome on Ravelry, just not to openly support Trump etc. I applaud this step and am even more firmly behind Ravelry than I ever was.

This site and its makers and keepers have been and are creating a marvelous opportunity for fiber folk and designers to come together to talk about projects, learn something new, find new items to create and so much more. I cherish this place and the creators who fill it.

No site better for fiber arts - thousands of patterns, groups, forums, and resources. I've made many wonderful friends in my area because of this site - we get together weekly and support each other not only through our projects but through our lives.

Ravelry is the best place online to find patterns. Being able to search for a pattern by yarn weight, or type of garment, is a life changer. The forums are diverse, you can likely find a group for anything you might want to discuss. My only real complaint that since I've joined Ravelry, I've bought more patterns than I'll ever be able to knit in my lifetime.
The people that have recently been down-voting the site are doing so because Ravelry will no longer allow people to post anything in support of white supremacy.

Was a member there for a number of years. Recently labeled as a white supremacist for absolutely no reason. Forbes and their remaining members embody the very hate they claim to protest. Their hate-filled, self-righteous members bully and harass anyone who doesn't embrace their stance, including the very people they claim to "protect." They spew their vile verbiage against businesses and individuals who dare to stand again their censorship, viciously attacking some to the point of sickness. This is a toxic, poisonous web site now. People of good character should stay away!

Ravelry is a wonderful site for everyone who loves fiber arts. You can find patterns for pretty much everything you could want to knit or crochet. There are tons and tons of free patterns, as well as patterns for purchase. One of the best things though, would be their policy against hate speech and white supremacy.

I honestly just wanted to enjoy the patterns and share the experience of creating cool things with yarn. Until they called me a white supremacist, that is. They did exactly what they claim to hate. Therefore, I have deleted my account and will never give them my business again.

Ravelry is the most comprehensive fiber arts website I have encountered. Like many other sites with primarily user-created content, it is what you make of it. The pattern and yarn database is vast, encompassing content from all over the world. While the site itself does not sell patterns, the platform is set up so designers can sell their own patterns (or distribute them for free) via ravelry servers. While mature content is permitted, users can easily set up filters to personalize their own ravelry experience to their tastes. Overall, there's a reason Ravelry has grown to over 7 million users: it is simply the best knitting and crochet related social networking site to date.

I've been coming to Ravelry almost daily for a decade. It's wonderful. They have so much helpful information on knitting and other fiber arts.
They have so many groups on any number of things other than knitting as well.
I highly recommend it w/o reservation.

I've been a member for over ten years and can not find anything bad to say about Ravelry. The most extensive collections of patterns, the contributors are friendly. Knowledgeable and welcoming. The level of expertise and enthusiasm unlike any other site.

Ravelry is the best knitting/crochet website out there. I love the free patterns, and the way that pattern developers can become well-known through the website without necessarily getting their patterns in books. I also love the feature of being able to look at photos of other projects from a pattern. You can see how it looks on various body types if it's a garment, and then you can ask people questions through messaging.

Ravelry is not inclusive... that is, unless you parrot the hatred they espouse. I used to love it, recommend it... now... not at all. Will download my files and get out of there. Really sad that we just cannot knit/crochet/craft and leave politics and everything else out. Now it's a sad, tired place. Hope the owners see what they did.

I thought this was a site dedicated to the Fiber Arts. It's not. They are selling vitriolic politics. Sure I saw that they promoted their political views. Personally, I was there for the art and didn't care about anyone's political view. I still don't. It's when they chose to silence everyone on their public forum who has a differing view that I left. It's when they started name calling those who differ with them that I left. It's when they continued to allow the most vitriolic hate in support of their view to be spewed, while banning even an American flag and calling it hate speech. We are well beyond 1984, but it's a Brave New World over on Ravelry and all the Animals on the Farm can have it to themselves. I've already seen how that story ends.

Excellent resource for all things crafty, so many good patterns and information! I especially like the site layout and ease of use. Since there are so many patterns, it makes finding what you need a breeze.

I've been using and recommending Ravelry for 10 years now. If you need any Knit or crochet patterns, you can find them there. I love having access to others' projects so that I can get ideas. Great designers! Great patterns! Easy to navigate site!

I have been using Ravelry for years it is the best place to find great patterns and new designers. That's what the site is about, it's about connecting people across the world with a common interest and that is knitting and crochet.

Hi signed up for Ravelry when it first started. It was a lot of fun to have patterns at my fingertips. So, after over 10 years being on Ravelry I left because they have divided so many people in the fiber world. People are shunned on this site. I printed out all of my paid for patterns and saved them to my own computer and then pulled the plug on them. I'm glad that I did.
