I did send over 1000$ to my US account from Europe. The mail said the money should have come in by now but this is not the case. After reaching out to 3 different customer service employees the chat always went silence after sending the wire number. No support what so ever but we will keep pushing. After calling and mailing them and waiting 1,5weeks we got the money back!

Terrible service from a money transfer company who promise the world and deliver a barren atoll. Subject to fraudulent scammers their systems are suspect and compromised. Don't ever ever use, bad follow up bad customer service. Just an absolute disaster to deal with.

I live in one of the Eastern countries now and am 82 years old. To support myself, I tried to set up Remitly to draw funds from my bank in an adjoining country but I did not have an address in that country. I checked in with chat a few times but no solution. So I finally tried to set it up for my US bank where I have a US legal address. First, I had to get my account unlocked. I set up my first transfer of just $300. At the end, they wanted to send a code to my US phone number. I got onto chat. I use my sister's phone because a US sim card would not work in any other country. There is a 12-hour difference. I asked them if they could verify me through my email. No. I got on chat again and they transferred me to someone on the telephone whose accent was so strong I could not understand him. He finally transferred me to someone else who I could not understand either. Finally, I emailed my sister to see if she was up yet (my pm is her am) and she said she got the code. I turned in the code so they would send me my $300 at a cash pickup. Instead, they wanted me to scan a QR code, again to make sure I was who I said I was, I did but did not understand what to do with it. They also wanted me to take a selfie video of myself to verify I was who I said I was. I did not know how. What in the world is going on? I had to finally give up. And I still cannot support myself, even though I have plenty of money in my US account. Oh, set up a bank account? I tried that twice; they have no idea here what to do with international transactions. I had to give that up too. Well, I see you want proof of purchase before approving my review. Proof of purchase? I never got that far!

I got an email from Remitly this morning that someone transferred $2800 to some Indian account! I haven't done that transection as I am in India for 4 years and don't even hold a US phone number that's needed as 2FA to log in to my account! I wasted 2 hours talking to their customer support and they didn't help me at all. It is the fraud committed by their employees only because who else can access my account? It requires OTP on the phone number which even I don't have access since 4 years! I used their services way back when I had access to my old phone number. All I asked was to cancel the transaction and delete my account from their end if they can't allow me to log in to my account. They didn't! 2 hours! Finally, I talked to Wellsfargo and put a hold on the transaction of the exact amount. They understood the matter in 5 mins and did the needed. But Remitly didn't understand it in 2 hours! The money was about to transfer to this bank:

I am writing this to know that if anyone else has this sort of fraud, please complain to the police. It is 100% of Remitly's employees committing fraud.

I have been a Remitly customer for almost 3 years and have made 120 transfers to the Philippines. I had a brief issue about 2 years ago where they asked for bank statements. At the time I was disturbed by their untimely request for financial information.
Yesterday my account was blocked after I transferred 44,500 PHP. The recipient is expecting the funds in the next couple of days and Remitly blocked the payment after issuing me with a payment receipt (which I had already forwarded onto the recipient).
I tried to contact Remitly Sydney almost 20 times today and their phone service is not working. I managed to get another number online and had a faulty recorded message. To solve my issue the only choice was to use the Remitly chat option. I had 3 chat sessions and chatted with 4 Remitly representatives for at least 4 to 5 hours. They kept on asking me the same questions... I uploaded many bank bank statements from different accounts. They didn't understand that my MasterCard and Visa direct debit card numbers are different from the actual bank accounts they are linked to. Ohhh, man they tried my patience.
My last chat session was with Geron and it lasted for more than 1 hour. He claimed he had no knowledge of my previous sessions so I had to repeat my all over again for the fourth time.
Two Remitly representatives I chatted with admitted the Sydney office had phone issues but not Geron. Geron kept on telling me my phone was ringing and I wasn't answering it.
They behaved like suspicious investigators who had valid reasons for denying me my transfer to the Philippines and kept asking for more and more financial information.
Don't rely on Remitly, they will embarrass you and degrade your good name (with those who are expecting timely money transfers) when you least expect it. I will be making enquiries to see if I can make a formal complaint to the Banking Industry Ombudsman's Office and do my best never to use Remitly again.
DO NOT TRUST REMITLY TO DELIVER.

Tip for consumers:
Their internal account security processes have false triggers which inappropriately cancel transactions in transit and lock your account. Then you have to spend hours with their customer service (who are on the wrong pay grade to help) trying to resolve the problems they have caused.

Mostly cash pickups and some direct transfers to bank accounts.

The customer service representative saulo/saolu is very arrogant and not helpful, not willing to tell me the reason why my transfer was declined and said that "Remitly MERELY relys on family and friends recommendations" after I said I wasn't satisfied with the service and would not recommend my family and friends to use it. Even more, right after saying that, he/she directly ended our live chat without waiting for my response. And as a result, unfortunately I couldn't download the chat history, otherwise I would be more than happy to remember the name of this customer service representative clearly and show you how rude I was treated.
I am keep my words by sharing my experience with Remitly especially the customer service experience on google review, app review, trust pilots review and with my friends and family. If Remitly only values business customers who transfer a large amount of money in one transaction, why bother to ask us to refer our friend and family by advertising the bonus? To me, $20 referral bonus wouldn't be attractive enough to ignore the disgusting experience with your customer service representative Saulo or Saolu.
If you are thinking about engaging the service of Remitly, THINK TWICE, unless you are fine with not being respected by them.

Remitly is a scam I feel! I transferred my funds form UK to India on 29th August under 'economy' which as per guidelines usually takes 3-5 working days. However, the progress comment said funds will be available on 30th August at 16.05 UK time. I thought that's pretty easy, only until I realised that funds were never released to reached the recipient. On 30 August, I got am email stating we have transferred your funds to PNB (recipient's bank) and will let you know when funds will be available.
I have been calling them constantly since then and each time the advisor said the delay is with their partner bank, HDFC and they will send an email and get this sorted within next 24 hours.
- Now that is contradictory as if the delay was with HDFC then how funds were transferred to PNB bank and I got an email?
- Since then, everyday I have been calling Remitly each time they say we will contact our banking partner, no one has heard from them as yet! So since 29th August 2021 to 6th September; I have been calling them continuously but they do not have an answer to my question- where are my funds. It has left my bank account, they said it was with HDFC and today (6th Sep), another advisor told me it is with PNB and asked the recipient to check with PNB bank and the usual we have escalated that to the partner bank.
- It is an appalling service, they didn't deliver on promise, I don't know where the funds are and advisor said we have been sending emails to the partner bank but they are not responding.
- You can understand that you cannot trust them with your money, when they themselves don't know where the issue is lying.
- I asked to reverse my transaction, the adviser again said they have sent an email to banking partner but again no action on that.
- I want a solution to my problem... either release my funds or transfer my money back to my UK account or I will claim a chargeback and file a compliant to banking services.
Can some one please rely to my and sort my issue?

I have never written a review before. You can imagine what lead me to write one now. My experience with Remitly was NOT good at all.

I did send lots of money to Rwanda to support my loved ones using Remitly. After sending via Remitly, I checked my bank account and noticed Remitly had double charged me. Had I not checked my bank account, I am sure they would have gotten away with it. I reported the fraudulent charges to my financial institution (USbank) and requested a refund. The bank then filed a dispute claim. I eventually got my money back after waiting for approximately 10 days.

Since this was the first incident, and I wasn't sure if this was a common place with Remitly so I reluctantly continued to use Remitly to send money to my loved ones.

A few days ago, I sent money to Kigali Rwanda and unfortunately the money was held up. The reason given didn't make sense at all. I received an email stating " our partner is taking look at your transfer".
This didn't make sense to me, so I placed a call to customer service to obtain a better explanation. A company rep answer the phone and told me the identity of the receiptent needed to be verified. Well, this was incorrect, because the receipt registered with her Rwanda National Identification card. I voiced my concern. The rep backtracked and assured me the money would be released asap and I should be patient. I did and waited for few days. Nothing changed. I then called back and spoke to another rep. This rep then told me my money was held up because Remitly was experiencing some technical difficulties therefore they couldn't release the money and they will once the issue is resolved. This was a contradictory statement. My money is still tied up. I am now planning to file cancelation to request a full refund.

Take a way points:
Double check your bank account after sending money via Remitly to ensure that you haven't been double charged. If your money is pending after you had sented, don't expect it to be released anytime soon and your best option is to cancel it. Even if you cancel it, know that you will not get your money right away. You need to wait for awhile.

Subio el dollar saben que va a bajar tengo amistades que igual tienen cuenta en esta disque compañía y mientras subió el dólar ellos de una u otra manera impiden envíes y esperar baje, 7 correos., 8 llamadas 3 horas en espera y solo para según revisar algunos documentos falsedad esperan baje para poder seguir teniendo dividendos mientras no responden ni llamadas ni correos

He enviado dinero por primera vez con Remitly desde Alemania a Chile. Tenía desconfianza por las opiniones que había leido en internet., sin embargo el dinero llegó sin problemas a la cuenta en Chile el día que se aviso en un principio que iba a llegar. Además ha llegado en forma rápida ya que la primera transaccion, si cumple ciertos criterios, va con envio Express gratis. Por lo menos por esta primera vez en mi caso todo anduvo bien y recomendaría el uso de Remitly

Remitly me estafó, yo necesitaba mandar dinero urgente a Argentina para que compren una medicina, el dinero no llego y después de comunicarme por Chat unas 10 veces me dijeron que debo esperar por el refund entre 5 y 10 días…MOFOS…ellos sacan mi dinero al instante pero para devolverlo se toman el tiempo que ellos quieren….REMITLY ES UNA MIERDA…

No importa si envias toda la documentación que te pidan para que tu envio sea enviado con exito, lo más cercano a exitoso que lograrás es que te cancelen la cuenta, son lo peor de lo peor.
