Terrible experience

Rented a car for when we arrived in Orlando Upon arrival the line was over 3 hours long!
And a manager was walking the line making cancelations due to lack of cars.
I tried to call Rental Cars.com and received a recording they were too busy to answer calls. It said to go to their website.
We were forced to make other transportation plans and Rental Cars.com refused to give us our money back.
I wish I would have read all the reviews on this site before I made my original plans.
DO NOT USE RENTAL CARS.COM My first and last time!

Dishonest & Scam

Dishonest, fraudulent and borderline scam agency.
Booked a car on their website, paid the rental with a card from a bank with which they had a PARTNERSHIP in place.
Get to the rental pick up site, they said they don't accept this card to make the deposit and finalize the pick up processe. It turns out the card is not accepted by the rental companies, although they don't tell you that at any time during the booking process. They just want your money on their side.

After that, you just call their customer service and they tell you that, deep on their T&Cs you'd have to bring another card to finalize the pick up and that EVEN if you'd called them at the counter like they say, you could only get refunded your booking value - 3 days rental cost. Meaning, I booked for 2 day rental, so no refund whatsoever. They literally steal you 3 days rental worth by a service they mislead you to purchase incorrectly and that assumes you can even qualify for a refund by their T&Cs.

Customer service attitude is just like "tough luck, no money back".

On top of that, I ended up having to rent at last minute with another agency by myself and pay 3x market rate due to such short notice on a Friday evening.

This company is an outright fraud looking to lure potential clients to a one off purchase, knowingly perfectly well that based on the service they provide it will be the last time you'd book with them.

Save yourself the trouble and cost later, and pay a few extra euros/dollars and rent with another agency or rental directly.

Rental Car Hire in LA

Horrible Service

I had asked them to change the date and time of my pick up; It looks like they have people who dont even read english; The date was wrongly entered and time changed
Its been 3 weeks iam chasing them to fix the issue ( basically revert to the time and date originally on my booking); inspite of constant mailing and follow up i still dont have a confirmation

Do not recommend

Waited for a confirmation around 1 week for a booking, in the meantime i talked with the operators that recommend me to wait a little bit more. After 1 week during a call with them they told me that i can rent from somewhere else if i find. When i deed the booking with them i had several options from where i could rent, with 5 days before departure no option was available anymore. Thank you rentalcars for the way you treat your costumers.

Cheaters

Cheaters. Stay away from them. I booked a car - changed my plans and few minutes later i tried to cancel- revise the booking.It wasnt possible, i lost my money. There was in hidden letters cancelation fee same ammount with my booking, so i lost all my money.

Don't use these Scamers!

Booked with Rentalcars.com for pickup in Orlando. A complete SCAM! I noticed a week prior to trip pickup times were incorrect, per automated system you can amend your reservation online… but that's not true!

I called the # on the confirmation page which routed us to the rental car Comp directly where we were told they would be closed when we arrived & adjustments could not be made to the pickup time.? We were unable to pickup our vehicle, our reservation was cancelled AND was charged the FULL rate? I finally was able to speak with Rentalcar.com advised I called the wrong #, which was not avail on our conf page and would not issue a refund…. So we double paid for our rental ruining our park ticket budget. So horrible.

Just finished an abridged vacation to Florida due to a death in the family. Had to return a 5-day car rental one day earlier than planned. Emailed customer service to ask for a refund for the one day the car wasn't used. Irene said no refund was permitted and highlighted for me the terms of the rental agreement. I asked Irene if her company would consider an exception here considering that my vacation was cut short due to a death in the family and she wrote back, with zero sympathy for my loss I might add, that 'there is no possible refund for the unused time.' If you're looking for a rental car company with zero compassion for its customers, definitely rent a car from them! Absolutely HORRIBLE!

The worst company to rent from! Don't waste your time, money or damage your health dealing with this company and their representatives. Truly! They provide the absolute WORST service, then steal your money then treat you like you're the problem. They are SUPER unprofessional. I literally spent an entire WEEK + with several phone calls to try and resolve my issue. They repeatively denied me a manger or service, hung up on me several times after placing me on 45+min long holds. NEVER offered me any professional assistance. Almost want to believe this company is a scam, their customer service was so disrespectful and unprofessional. Words can't describe. This has put a huge damper in my family and I's vacation. They literally laughed at me, rudely and aggressively interrupted me when talking several times each phone call. I stopped counting how many times I've called about my money and concern. This is beyond me how this so called company and there reps are still standing and able to take anyone's money. They are very unprofessional and argumentative if you all them to affect you that way. Be careful. I do not recommend this company. Let me be your example truly. If I could give them a -0 I would. The only option provided to resolve my issue was through contact CS via phone. End result, they still have my money, never got the assistance I needed. Be blessed.

BOOKED CAR WITH THIS SERVICE FOR ONE WEEK.( COST ME 269 EURO). SAYS CAR RENTAL IN AIRPORT TERMINAL. ARRIVED TO AIRPORT- NO SERVICE AT ALL AND NOBODY KNOWS WHERE. WAS TRYING TO CALL CUSTOMER SERVICE- PHONE NOT IN SERVICE! SO NO CAR. AFTER TWO WEEKS THEY SENT ME CANCELLATION NOTICE SAYING CANCELLATION FEE 269 EURO. I DIDN'T CANCEL ANYTHING. I JUST DIDN'T RECEIVE SERVICE I BOOKED. WISH I READ COMPANY REVIEWS PRIOR RENT CAR WITH THEM. CLAIM FRAUD TRANSACTION WITH MY BANK.

SCAMS

I booked through Priceline and was redirected to this scam site. They charged me for 2 reservations. I cancelled one and was then sent a confirmation the day before pickup with a $19,000 United States dollars deposit which is absurd for any country. I contacted my credit card company and they said they would not refund me despite cancelling and picking up because I reported them to my credit card company. BEWARE!

I'm Fernando Del Fiol, from Brazil. I rented a prepaid car on Rentalcars.com (#783 971 552) over a year ago. I paid 506.00US$. 45 days before taking the car I canceled the reservation. I have been trying for 60 days for my refund and Rentalcars just doesn't refund the money. Every day Rentalcars presents a different reason for not returning the money (the money will be deposited, the money is in the finance department, we had problems with the system...). Don't rent cars from them. If you need to cancel, they don't refund anything and keep the customers' money. Run away from that company.

False advertising!

False advertising! I reserved a car it said fully refundable and cancelation. I canceled less than 48 hrs and they wouldn't give me my money back! I ask to speak to the Manager they wouldn't let me. She said we have a Manager but you can't speak to them.
What kind of company or business is this? Do not rent from this company or site!

Run from this company. Their policy states that reservations could be amended just call. I called several times and the call was dropped each time. Could not amend because web site didn't work and phone numbers were not working.

I did a mistake in the month of my reservation and found it out on the 8th day of the 11 day reservation. I contacted rentalcars that forwarded me to the Rental Car Company (autounion) and this company told me that they didnt charge rentalcars anything and changed status of my reservation to Cancelled-Non Shown up. I contacted rentalcars again and they explained that all the money of my reservation are lost and will stay in rentalcars pocket! Even if it was a 300 day reservation this is their policy and zero money goes out of their pocket.

I've foolishly used rentalcars.com twice. First time in Italy I ordered a audi a3 and they substituted the worst thing ever made a jeep renagade.

Second time in kauai and they gave me some conformation number budget says does not exist. Now that all the cars are sold out I'm left with a nonexistent reservation for 18 days. These people are horrible, do not risk your trip on them. Every time I call they end up putting me on hold then after 20 minutes disconnect. They are really horrible.

I booked a car online from seeing an advertisement on the T-Mobile Tuesday app then when I flew into Detroit they wanted me to deposit an extra $300 so I refused then I called them up and they told me that they was only going to refund me $22 so I got my money back now a month later they took the money back out of my account now I am going to stick my foot so far up they anus they are going to wish that they never messed with me like that.

Made a reservation for a car in San Antonio, TX for a family vacation. My plans changed as I am a medical provider and our area is having an outbreak in CoVID-19 cases again. My son was flying in before me due to the change, but rentalcars.com would not change reservation name to his as he and his family (with 2 small children) were now coming in before me. I waited on hold for >45 minutes with actual rental agency - they couldn't help me cuz it was made through a 3rd party, Rentalcars.com would not answer their phone as they are overseas in England / Wales - they would not help through email. I even asked my daughter, who lives in town to go to airport and see if they could help as I was told possibly they could. I am so sorry I did not pay better attention when making reservation, now our family yearly vacation has a big hitch in it. My reservation will be lost as I don't get in until the next day due to my work. Now I will have to "buy" a car for the week instead of keeping / getting the one I made in advance. What a scam! Renters beware. Not at all customer friendly! Oh and to get this posted I have to make an account so they can harass me now. No help and no privacy!

Made a booking... no confirmation email... with booking reference... money taken... online booking retrieval process hopeless... 2 hrs on waiting list on phone number listed with no response... overall crap experience... forced to make another booking with same rental car company via competitor search engine to ensure I could meet appointments... believed I was scammed until collecting car from company and assistant asking if I had booked another car and I explained the above.
