They do not pick up our yard waste. I call every day for status and they say "tomorrow". Terrible. We will have to change providers after 25 years.
I moved out of a house and called to find out if I should pay the bill since it was due and I was moving a couple of weeks later. Of course they said pay it (and from personal experience they would have sent it to collections with NO NOTIFICATION if I didn't), so I did. I called to ask what I needed to do to get a refund and they said to send a final bill of another utility company to them via email, which I did. I called back one month later and was told that I would be contacted by someone about it and no one contacted me. So today, 3 months later, I call again and was told that there is no evidence that I called initially and where I sent the email was for owners, not for tenants so that was a lie. To say I never called was BS because I called to transfer the service from one address to the new one. Granted it's not a lot of money but these people just string you along and tell you BS. If I didn't have to have my trash picked up, I would quit these people in a second. They just have you by the balls!
Republic horrible trash company. 5 weeks didn't pick up my trash. Calling them every day. Always they say "sorry " not recommend.
I had been a customer for as long as I can remenber and paid my last quartly bill of $218 on May 24,2021. Company only made 2 pickups in June. After skipping 3 of the first 5 pickups I was told they "did not have enough drivers". I cancelled after the first July pickup was again missed on either the 4th or 5th of July. I called the following Monday July 7th to cancel. They originally would not refund the $. Eventually, they agreed to refund only approx. $70 saying I could not cancel until the end of July. After more calls to supervisors etc., they agreed to the refund and I received the full amount back in my bank account. I was satisfied that they had made it right. Last week I received a check for $70, the original amount they wanted to refund. (I am not cashing it) I received a phone call stating the refund was a mistake and I must pay them the $218. I absulutely will not pay this as only 2 pickups were made from the end of May. They still have not scheduled picked up of their trash recepticle after numerous requests. It really is a shame, although they were always the must expensive service by far, in the past they were reliable so I was OK with that. If I continue to be harassed, I will report them and have the better business bureau take care of this.
We have been customers for at least a decade. Over the past few years, the collection driver has consistently left our barrels in the middle of the street or in front of our driveway blocking it. They constantly leave trash in the street that fell out while dumping.
I have been communicating with 1 person that has tried to help by requesting someone from "operations" reach out to me, several weeks later, still no communication. I would strongly discourage anyone from considering this company, they just don't care.
Worst company I have ever done business with. Will not respond to letters, email or phone calls. I thought I would be smart and not pay the bill until I received some type of response from them and all I got was representatives from the company calling me asking for payment. I canceled the service and they still charged me for time when there was no pick up. I also paid for the trash cans to be picked up and they have still not been picked them up 3 months later. I called again today and everybody I spoke with acts like they had no idea the cans were not picked up. (Only the 3rd or 4th time I've heard this) Also I wrote the home office a detailed letter and of course no response. I have never dealt with a company that did this poor of a job and was as NON-RESPONSIVE as Republic Waste is. If there is another company in your area in the same type of business I would highly recommend you choose them to do business with or you will be one of the many individuals leaving a poor review like so many others. If I could rate them a minus ten I would. As the old saying goes BUYER BEWARE of this company.
Yes I agree with you all that there service sucks... but my question is how to rid of them. And switch to another. What action can I take?
Our Finance Department tried for several days and many times each day to call billing for a problem on our bill. No one would answer the phone.
Shame on me. I thought being a faithful customer would mean something - even to a larger company. But Republic Services (Trash Removal) has proven me wrong. We started with Republic 22 years ago when they were BFI and never really had a reason to change. We were set on auto billing and did not regularly review rates. A few months ago however, pickups kept getting missed so I shopped around. To my dismay, I was paying $310 per quarter when the going rate was about $110 per quarter. When I spoke with Republic, they essentially blamed me that I had not called for a rate adjustment, that's why I was being over charged. Basically, they took advantage of my loyalty and proceeded to charge me $200 per quarter more than 4 other competitors. I spoke with service and politely asked that they consider refunding me $600 for the difference in 2020. I thought this was a reasonable request. I explained that if that credit was issued I would keep my experience to myself. I calmly explained that if the credit was not issued, I would go to social media and let all my neighbors know how Republic treats loyal customers. I called at least 6 times over the last 10 weeks patiently waiting for an answer to my credit request. Every time dealing with folks in a calm, polite, and professional manner. Every time I was promised a return call and never received one. At one point I was told I had a credit of $201 coming, today, they said I was only getting $171. As a rule, I'll always only deal with a vendor directly and not trash a company on social media. In this case however, I think 3 months of effort has provided Republic ample opportunity to make this right. Yes, it's my fault for not shopping this service annually and continually asking for rate adjustments. I should have payed closer attention. I don't think Republic deserves the business of anyone given their policy of continual rate escalation beyond what is reasonably competitive.
They keep charging us even though we ended service with them and they have picked up our garbage can.
I just want the service I'm paying for. My trash has been left several times, and Im told they'll come tomorrow. They pick up across the street? Like WTH?
TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE
My city (Alhambra, CA) now requires us to deal with Republic directly for payment and all questions/issues and I am currently on hold on the phone with them for 1.5 hours on a Wednesday afternoon (typically the best time to call a company). What a waste of time - who knows if anyone will ever pickup! All I need is a simple bulk pick up for 1 item and website/chat is useless for that. This is what happens when a company knows the customer has no choice to go elsewhere. While waiting on hold, am just adding my review about their 'service' to as many websites as possible!
On July 28,2022. This company stole our trash can. It is clearly on our camera. I called trying to resolve the situation and supervisor Michael told me there qas notjing he could do and our can was not made for their trucks arms. Which is a lie because we have had the same can model for ovwr 4 ywars. I just pirchased & replaced can within last 6 months since they broke the handle on our other one. So our can has worked perfeclty until their employee was not paying attention and the can stayed in they truck. I did not pay 140.00 for them to steal our can. They will not reimburse me. I have filed a police report. THEIR CHARGES CONTINUE TO RISE EVERY 3 MONTHS. WHAT STARTED AT 65 EVERY 3 IS NOW OVER 100. I am canceling their service and as far as i am concerned their recycle can will remain my property until this matter is handled in court.
Horrendous customer service. I had a simple issue that could have been fixed. And I've had the buck passed numerous times. They just transfer your call and don't actually resolve the issue. I ordered and paid for a 20-yard dumpster. I had a 10-yard dumpster delivered. I offered simple solutions to fix this like dropping off another 10 yard dumpster. We're picking this up and replacing it. They could not fix the issue without a supervisor coming to verify the size of the dumpster. Well over 48 hours past. Multiple phone calls were made. No one came out to verify the dumpster. Pick up was scheduled for a Friday and I made note that no pickup should be made until this issue is resolved. It picked up the dumpster anyway. When I called to continue the escalated claim they said my case was closed because the dumpster was picked up. I'm in the middle of opening a new claim to resolve this issue. I took pictures to verify the size of the dumpster. Now I'm on another waiting list for a supervisor to call me. I never received a call from a supervisor with the initial case. This could have been a very quick easy resolve and now it's become a huge prolonged issue and it's wasting everybody's time. The service reps on the phone are nice but no one is actually doing anything.
If there are any other garbage services available in my area I'd be switching today. Unfortunately this is a monopolized industry. Took multiple pictures. Attached is a photo of the sticker on the dumpster and with my phone to show date and time. I have many other photos proving the 10 yard size.

Garbage sitting for a week and nothing but lie after lie from customer service. Don't waste ur money.
I would give them zero if I could. Everything they said they would do they broke promises. They promised a time to switch the dumpster and they showed up early to move a half-full box (the driver said he could leave or take the half-full box, either way I have to pay). At the final removal day, again they showed up one day earlier (guys have not completed filling the box), the driver Arturo Hurtado promised to come back with an empty box as a "favor" as we only have half box left due to they took the half-full away the previous day. 4 hours later he came back jerk around what he said earlier didn't really matter! Finally I called to complain and was transferred to a "Customer Relationship Manager" Matthew... the worst experience. He literally argued with me and lectured me about their Corporate Rules. So these are all my fault (I should have called earlier, I should have done this and that...)? Enough frustration already when you have a home project, this company is a fraud!
Don't waste your money with the Republic Services. It is a waste. Not reliable, bad customer service.
They don't pick up. Period. I just got my bill, tried to get it reduced, and they put it on me. Lol. Completely unprofessional.
They leave the recyclables and dont pick them up. Over a month now. Anyone this city gets involved with is always a cluster mess.

Answer: My guess is money laundering. I don't know what's in those Republic trucks I see driving around, but it sure isn't garbage! Also, they just don't care.
