We understand that mistakes happen however the VFW in Newaygo, MI must give the absolute LOWEST possible rating available. In both May and June of 2021 we have had missed pick-ups on the scheduled day and on both occasions a minimum of 3 calls had to be made before the overflowing container was emptied even after we were assured by the customer service individual ( most recently Winnie on 6/17 and Melisa who said were were on the schedule on 6/18/2021 for the same day)! It's bad enough to make a mistake on occasion, however, to constantly repeat the issue and then misinform the customer REPEADLY is simply unacceptable. As a nonprofit organization representing the American Veteran we simply can not afford to switch venders mid contract however Republic Services certainly will not be considered when it comes time to renew. The VFW does not expect special treatment, however, if there is so little respect for us then how poorly are the average small business treated.
Republic Services Republic Services keeps taking my payment for the monthly regular service charge and failing to provide services that I paid for. Pick ups keep getting skipped. Drivers are falsely reporting that each pick up was completed. I reported all the missed pick ups online and on the phone. All times, Republic Services lied and said they put us on the schedule for a pick up to make up for each missed pick up. Republic services still have not refunded me as of today 9/2/23. On top of not refunding me, my bill due September 14th 2023 was increased by 28%. I called and requested my money back and requested my account to be closed on 9/1/2023. On this phone call I was told that EVEN THOUGH Republic Service NO LONGER SERVICES MY AREA, the account couldn't be officially closed until someone else from Republic Services called me in 48 hours (this makes no sense). Republic Services, it's not right to bill me and take my money for free, even though you no longer service my area. Please give me my money back and quit billing me, and close my account.
DO NOT USE Republic for waste removal services! We moved and I gave them plenty of notice ahead of time to transfer services. Despite this, I still had a feeling they wouldn't come and we had a ton of trash due to the move, so I called the day before our pick up day to make sure it would be picked up. I was told we were on the route and they would add a note to make sure it got picked up. Sure enough, the next day rolled by and NO PICKUP. I called again around 1:30pm and was told the routes go until 5:00pm so they probably just hadn't been there yet but I was on the route. Did they pick up my trash later that day? Nope! Called for a third time the following day, was told because of their routes they won't be able to get to it until tomorrow morning. This shouldn't matter since they clearly don't follow their routes, which I know because I was repeatedly told I was on their route yet they still didn't show up to pick up my trash. It is now the following morning and as of 11:12am it still hasn't been picked up. Also when you call it will take a minimum of 12-15 minutes before you actually get a hold of anyone, not that it matters since nothing useful will be gleamed from the conversation. I will say the 4th person I talked to, Charles, was nice and helpful and seemed genuinely apologetic. Charles aside I would rate this company very poorly.
We have used Republic Services for over 9 years. Every year the pricing goes up but we maintained until this year when they raised their prices 3 times in one year. We had a 4 yard dumpster and our pricing this year went from $170ish per month to over $250/mth! When I reached out to see about a rate reduction, I was given a price of $160/mth but I had to sign ANOTHER 3 year contract and rates would increase a minimum of 16% per year! I called around and found another dumpster service for $130/mth, 1 year contract and maximum 3% price increase per year. When I went to cancel services with Republic, they said I had to pay a 6 month buyout for early termination. BUT they want the buyout at the current rate and not the rate they were willing to reduce it to. I mentioned that I had been calling in for 6 months to see about a price reduction and they didn't care. I told them that if someone had called me back, I would have already saved me several hundred dollars. They don't care. I understand that in the contract it states the most recent bill however, if you were willing to reduce my monthly rate so drastically, you are already acknowledging that you have been charging an unusually high amount. I am willing to pay the 6 months, but I think to be fair to have the buyout at the lower rate was definitely a reasonable offer. Their total lack of willingness to work with us just reiterates what the mindset of their company is throughout. Enjoy that fee you are making me pay because you will never see another penny from our company or employees again. The $1,371.43 you are charging me has cost you any future business and I will make sure to tell everyone I ever hear about looking for dumpster service what an unreasonable business you uphold.

I urge you not to use Republic Services! We were long time customers of Republic, but the last two years has not been good at all. They have become incompetent and expensive. We had a dumpster go missing from our property and we called the police to get them involved. The police told us to call Republic to see if they took it. Republic said no…but found out later that they did take it. They took it from the wrong church. There was a time in early 2022 that they missed 4 or 5 dumps in a 6 month period—from that time on I had to put it on my schedule and make sure they did dumped it when they said they would dump it. They refunded us just a little bit for those dumps missed…but not near the value of what we paid for. Just the last couple months, they jacked the price way up on us, and we went to cancel and they said we could not cancel because we were under contract with them. They can change all they want in the contract—but they will not allow us out of the contract. They charged us $1,045.62 to get out of the contract. It is sad to say, and a horrible testimony to Republic, but paying the $1,045.62 was worth paying just to get away from the service they provide! I could share more, but I think you understand the main frustrations we had with them. I am not one to share reviews, in a fact this is my first one. But, I want you to make sure you know what you are getting into if you go with them. We could not bring this long time standing relationship to a satisfactory end. I feel they care more about the money than they do about providing the service. If I owned a company, I would not hold people to a contract that have legitimate complaints. We will give them the money they want for us breaking their contract—since they broke it many times with us a long the way. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU FIND ANOTHER TRASH SERVICE! –Long time customer fed up with how things have changed at Republic.
After years of doing business with Republic service, dealing with missed pick ups, ever increasing rates & poor customer service I choose to use a different service that was 1/3 the price. After a couple months I was sent a bill for $89 with no explanation for the charges. Now I have been sent a bogus collection notice & am disputing it. In March 2020 when my contract with Republic services was paid in full I called to end the service due to poor service & high pricing. I went with a different company at 1/3 the price. Two months later I received a bill in the mail from them that did not explain the charges. When I went online to explore why I was being charged my account was no longer valid. I called in to ask & was told it was a fee for terminating my paid in full service after many years of doing business with this company that regularly missed me on pick up day. After disputing that with their rep I was told it was a fee for picking up their own garbage can from my residence. I told them that the fee was not in our contract & that I would not pay it. I suggested they pay me for the weeks that they left their cans at my residence to store for them until it was convenient for them to retrieve them. IT IS A FEE FOR CHOOSING A BETTER SERVICE & ENDING MY BUSINESS DEALINGS WITH REPUBLIC SERVICES AFTER YEARS & WITH A CONTRACT THAT WAS PAID IN FULL. I will continue to dispute this bogus attempt to collect a fee for terminating my service.
It's been two weeks and a lot of phone call and Republic trash services still refuses to pick up my trash.
Your service is horrible. We were promised excellent service. The first thing your company does is place the container smack down in the middle of a valuable parking spot. We call to complain and we were told LAST MONTH you would have the drivers move back (about 10 feet) out of the parking spot on the next pick up. It doesn't happen;
We call again and get the same empty promise that you will have the driver move the container back so we get our parking spot again.
Nothing happens.
We call again and this time for sure really the driver is going to move it back, I was even told that they may come that day (2 weeks ago) to move back.
More calls, more calls repeating the same thing. Customer service reps, supervisors promise to call us back with time the container is going to be moved back 10 ft. Promises of phone calls that do not happen. We have to call day after day.
We had a huge event yesterday, a huge charitable event for victims of the Marshall Fire. We needed the parking spot. No return calls and no container moved.
Today we called several times and this time for the 1st time a supervisor called back and said at 5:30 PM (Friday night, good grief, this should have been done 2 MONDAY's ago when first called) doesn't matter because once again Republic Services broke their promise and the container is still sitting in the middle of a parking lot. So now all weekend when we need the parking spot the most.
I want out of any contract and will gladly pay your competitors for service. They at least know the container does NOT go in the middle of parking spot.

DO NOT DO BUSINESS with Republic Services. I have used them for the last 5 years, and there have been missed pickups with no notification or explanation. My trash had not been picked up since the last two weeks of May. I gave them until June, thinking maybe there was a mix up. THERE WAS NOT. There were unanticipated delays for an indeterminate amount of time. I was not notified by phone, email, or a letter in the mail. I had to call. I have called over 10 times in the last month, and finally cancelled my service. My trash was FINALLY picked up the last week in June, and I was told that the barrels would be picked up that same day. It is July 5th and my barrels, despite multiple phone calls and same day confirmation promises from Republic services, MY BARRELS ARE STILL AT THE END OF MY DRIVEWAY. Those barrels have been sitting there since the last two weeks of May. If you want reliable, professional, and affordable refuse service, save yourself the trouble, and don't even call Republic Services. I went to Willimantic Waste, and they are almost $100.00 cheaper and have been wonderful!

Republic Services of Fort Wayne has the absolute worst website for paying your bill - EVER -! I've literally gone around that site, trying to pay my bill - that must have been designed by a 5 year old - until I've just given up. More than once, I've given up, planned to call them the next business day to pay over the phone, gotten sidetracked and forgotten to call, only to receive the illustrious phone call reminder, which I get as a voicemail message after work - when their offices are closed, so I try again to pay online, only to get caught up in their ridiculous merry go round of a site again. Bare in mind, I've rarely received a bill from these morons... If you don't have a bill in front of you, you are supposed to be able to "Log In" and pay your bill... BUT, if you log in - to pay your bill, and click the "pay bill" link, it tells you to provide an account number - - - OR LOG IN TO PAY YOUR BILL! Since you're already logged in, you waste time trying to figure out how to even view your bill, so you can play their stupid game and provide an account number, but - there's a catch to that too... you can NOT view your bill - - unless you log in, but since you're ALREADY logged in, you try logging back out, and logging back in - - only to start the whole mess again, until you give up and try to remember to call their number and speak to one of their oh-so-pleasant receptionists.
