So you see all these bad reviews of Restaurant.com. I took advantage of a great deal. 100 - $50 cards for $500 from Citi Easy Deals. That $4500 of free food Just avoid these assumptions: 1) It's not off any restaurant. Get a Visa Gift Card if you want that. Enjoy your fees. 2) It's not a free meal. It's up to half off the total bill. You can use the remainder elsewhere. 3) It's one use per restaurant per month. Not getting 1/2 price sushi every weekend. Goto a different restaurant tomorrow. 4) You have to log into the app to find the card to redeem. Yes it shows your name. Got to log in anyway. That bugs me! Lose one Star. 5) Let the server tap the screen to redeem. You will hit one of these the first time through. After that it's discount city. Got my food budget in line through some hard times.
The entire experience was a scam in conjunction with a travel service. Was promised $100 in Restaurant coupons for attending sales presentation. Spent hours on the phone, with email, and online trying to obtain four $25 restaurant certificates. Never received any certificates and gave up.
I don't understand the bad reviews in here. I was so scared that I called every single place I bought certificates for and all of them knew about this site and they said how to use it. I used my first last night. We went to a fancy italian in Chicago. When time to pay, I gave my certificate to waiter and he came back with $25 discount in our bill. Just like that! If you take long to use it business might be out but if you buy them, use them and follow rules... like minimum purchase or no more than 1 per table and month... it has to be so easy and you can save so much money! IT IS NOT A SCAM! I wish I had bougth this before and I bought 5 more to go out with my boyfriend every weekend.
This is the second time that I have wasted almost a day trying to buy a gift card. Was trying to use the tmobile offer and almost for half a day the website wasnt opening. Then finally when I was able to login, it crashed. Patiently, I kept trying and it says "Could not redeem, please try later". Giving up now. Horrible experience. It has happened to me earlier as well, so its not just one off day.
I hate restuarnt. Com you pay with your debit card and they don't refund your money back I plan never too use any of this bull$#*! cards they could use cause I'm not wasting my time running to the restaurants on their list that are not participants
Every time I got ready to use them, the place looked at me as If I was using fake money. I only had 4, $25.00 they are worthless, the places would not take them. They said the card had already been used? I called the number, and spoke to 2 rude people, not in this country. And, they said the account was under someone else? Another account?, and blame the person, that gave them to me to use? Really? DO NOT BUY THEM! A WASTE of Money...
Pretty much what everyone else has said. It's more like a "coupon" site than anything, and it's a terrible site to navigate. When I exchanged a couple of gift certificates, I had to use that dollar amount individually - they didn't recombine to one larger total (which meant I was limited to a $10 and a $15 place, rather than a $25 place). Also, at one point, one of my gift certificates disappeared when I exchanged it. I contacted their customer service, and obviously they didn't read my email. I got a form response instead which didn't address my issue. When I replied and called them out on this, they sent pretty much the exact email back (but at least this time the funds were in my account again.) Ugh. This place is not worth my time.
I have over a hundred and fifty dollars in money tied up with this company. I thought this would be great gift ideas, who doesn't love to eat! I've been to two places that took the coupons, everywhere else has stop taking them. When you contact them they will offer you a $25 certificate for your troubles. But what good is that if you cant find anywhere to eat! Never again will I order from this company, I feel scammed and extremely disappointed!
Tip for consumers:
Please call any place you think of ordering from and make sure they accept a discount or certificate from this company before ordering. Even after reporting that certain places do not accept the coupons anymore they are still listed for sale!
This site has gone downhill. They sent me an email today stating 7-3-23 that Country Skillet coupons restocked. Well, I was there 2 weeks ago and they no longer accept Resturant.com coupons. They are also selling for Your Time Café in West Unity Ohio and that restaurant has been closed for 6 months now. This sight has become a rip off

I was duped into spending $30 on Restaurant.com (Specials) coupons. They told me I could purchase $100 worth of wine from OrderWineDirect.com.
The coupon was $15. The catch: You have to spend at least $200 to get the $100 savings. No big deal. I was OK with that. However, OrderWineDirect.com does NOT ship to the state of OHIO. They failed to tell me that before I spent $30 for 2 coupons. I've asked for a refund of my money back. They refuse to respond at all and have not refunded my money. I have $200 worth of OrderWineDirect.com coupons that I cannot use. Very frustrated.
I have gone to plenty of restaurants to find out they do not accept the certificate. The restaurants claim they never consented with restaurant.com to use them or they did and no longer accept the certificates... in any case it is a wasted trip and time on my part.
I have learned now to call the restaurant and ask before going. When the certificates do work, it's not bad hence the 2 stars.
I guess I should have known that if it sounds to good to be true than it probably isn't. But this company is bent on screwing customers because they will not refund a membership even if it is the same day.
This website is the most poorly designed and updated. I have gift cards on my account to be redeemed for restaurant gift certificates. All of the gift cards are listed separately and cannot be combined in any way known to me. Their calling hours to orde over the phone are surprisingly Monday through Friday from 8:30am-4pm. The site doesn't save any of your search settings, you have to plug it back in every time you go back to browse through the restaurants.
Overall, it looks like they had a 4 year old design their site and he did a terrible job, even for a 4 year old. The most horribly user friendly site I have ever used.
One and only time I'll ever try Groupon. Bought a ultimate date night package that claimed to be vocher for 39 which was to include $100 for restaurant and two movie tickets. Movie tickets were great. But really the restaurant "gift card" was really a paid for coupon, as I soon realized the fine print of the "100" not only had.to be divided between chosen restaurants. So each you could only redeem at small amounts. So 15 to such and such restaurant. Not only these small increments, but also, you had to spend an ADDITION the matched amount or more. So basically a buy one get.one free type deal, which is great. But don't advertise such as a gift card. Waste of money
How this company is still in business is a mystery. A restaurant with whom i had several certificates closed, couldnt get a refund, and even if I could I cannot find my leftover credit on their site anyway. Worst business ever
Complete scam! I purchased a bunch of restaurant gift certificates from this site that claim to never expire. However, apparently all of these restaurants have the right to refuse the use of these gift certificates. So why would they ever accept them then, right? So I unfortunately got totally ripped off and I am hoping this review will help prevent other folks from suffering from this complete scam this site has going on.
The coupons offered by restaurant.com do not work at most of the restaurants included in their list. The terms and conditions mentioned on their certificates always differ from what the restaurant agrees upon and a lot of restaurants do not accept their certificates at all claiming that they are no more part of restaurant.com. I would advise confirming with the restaurant before buying any of these certificates to avoid wasting money and time
Business owners beware. This is a total scam. The sales person disclosed very little information and told me i would receive about 1 certificate a day. It quickly turned into a staple in my daily reports. I began to receive 3 to 6 certificates a day. When I contacted the company they gave me the run around and would not let me cancel my program. Stay away from this company they very unprofessional.
I paid $78 for 2 tix to Old Jews telling and when we picked them up at Will Call the price on the tix were $29 each! Rip off. They advertise that you get a free $50 cert for dining but You're really paying $20 for it. Get your tix directly from the theatre!
I have certificates still waiting to be redeemed from 2013. I can't ever seem to find somewhere that I even like to eat - they are usually ALL hole in the wall places (which is ok, but read the fine print... if it's a $10 card, you have to most times spend $30 or more on the order to even use the certificate). I just hopped on to try and get to work in some of these smaller certificates that I have on a vacation I will be taking soon. RIP OFF. They are collecting your money, knowing you will likely NEVER EVER redeem. You are giving away your cash - might as well flush it down the toilet. I have so many certificates to use and will likely never use them.
This is worst possible service that exists out there. The gift cards have to be redeemed for specific restaurants. It's not like you can go to a restaurant in there list and use. You have to chhose before hand. The website is pathetic. It locks the account. Passwords magically stop working and the support staff are no better. Even after i just finished sorting out a problem with my account 3 times in a row, they are shameless to sell. I got trapped into this by a gift when purchasing Disney Tickets. Absolutely pathetic and a waste of time and money.
There are some great deals on this site/app. I've used many restaurant.com deals successfully but a few months ago I went to try to use one and the owner for the restaurant said they don't accept them and didn't give restaurant.com permission to create them. I emailed restaurant.com about it 5 times and received no reply. Their app is incredibly glitchy and even their site doesn't work when I try to complete transactions sometimes. If you can get restaurant.com to work, it will usually produce good results but if you have a problem, you're on your own. Great deals, HORRIBLE customer service.
Almost all of the restaurants have $50 minimum purchase requirements. Many are good restaurants but when you have already spent $10 and must spend $25 more before the tip, it is not really a saving. I bought several of these before I realized what was going on. When I did, I felt deceived and that I had wasted a lot of money. The only restaurant that was worth it was Opa's in Tucson. We ate our meals and then ordered another two to take along for the next day... in order to reach the $50 minimum. Opa's food is exceptional Greek cuisine and the atmosphere and service are truly old country style.
If Restaurant.com was so great almost every restaurant in the country would be on there. Restaurant.com usually lists restaurants on their website without their consent hoping the place will just adhere and comply but the reality is it's a bad deal for the business.
I see people complaining here because they have to spend double the value of the certificate - The owner get zero dollars of the certificate.
Really these shouldn't be considered gift certificates, more like super coupons for restaurants. I bought 7 of these on black friday and only spent $10. I called all the restaurants to confirm they accepted them before purchasing and haven't had a problem. It's a good deal as long as you know you need to spend money to get what you want. It clearly states there is a minimum purchase to use and you can't combine certificates. Everyone must be blind if they can't read the clear print.
We used Restaurant.com for about 3 years with no problems. Great Deals! BUT, the last year has been a totally different story. They are putting restaurants on their site that HAVE NOT authorized their use of coupons! Totally WRONG! Before you buy anything from restaurant.com, call the restaurant first and make sure they have authorized a coupon to the restaurant. We have gotten to restaurants only to find out they have not approved the use of restaurant.com's coupons.
- Closed restaurants on the site.
- Thirty minute or more waits to contact - if you can get through.
- Lack of variety/new restaurants.
- Used to be good, has gone downhill in the past year.
- Value is good if you don't count what you lose in time when there is a problem.
Tip for consumers:
Truly consider if it is worth it. If I didn't get a great deal a few years ago (still using those dollars), I would never use this site.
