The company has garnered significant negative feedback, primarily centered around customer service failures and issues with account management. Many customers report lost funds and unresponsive support, leading to sentiments of being scammed. Additionally, the limited and outdated restaurant options have contributed to dissatisfaction, as customers frequently encounter closed establishments. While a few positive experiences are implied regarding the product concept, the overwhelming sentiment reflects frustration and distrust. To improve its reputation, the company must enhance communication, streamline account management, and ensure accurate listings of participating restaurants.

The website is slow, and often times out before finishing loading. I put some gift certificates in my cart, which now won't load. Restaurant.com then sent a 'save an additional 40%' email, and the link within won't load. The restaurant selection is horrible. In a city filled with tons and tons of restaurants, how are there so few good-rated restaurants available in the restaurant.com selection? My favorite part is when I click on 'FAQ' or 'Get help', it takes me to a broken link. Clearly shows how much this company wants to assist its customers.
Spent too much time trying to find a telephone number to get someone to help. Finally found it, got someone help me number by number download my restaurant.com codes into my account. What a surprise, they never showed up, 7 x $25.00 codes no one can find them. The offices are closed at five central time. It's Friday and no one responded to any of the emails what a perfect mess stay far away from Restaurant.com. Been trying to work on this for days! Tried to download them myself. Of course, now it says codes invalid!
Don't waste your time!
This is probably the most annoying thing I've ever done. Downloaded the app, unable to navigate it. It was impossible to find anything because the window was huge and couldn't shrink it. Okay, went to the PC to the website. Again the most ridiculous attempt to locate a simple restaurant somewhere near me. It would not go to any location except New York and I am in Florida. I gave up. Have two 25.00 "gift cards" or coupons from my bank that are absolutely a waste of time.
Like others have said, this website is misleading in calling these "gift cards" when they're really coupons. But if it's a restaurant you were going to eat at anyway, I can look past that and be alright using it as a coupon. So if you have a $25 "GC" with a minimum purchase of $37.50 at the restaurant, then you only owe $12.50 Plus tax and tip (and your cost for purchasing the "GC"). It's misleading of course but not the end of the world...
What I can't look past is that they're adding restaurants without their knowledge. I have a $25 'gift card' to a specific restaurant, I called the restaurant to make sure they accept it and I was told not only do they NOT accept it, they've never even heard of this website! How can this website be selling GCs/Coupons/whatever for a restaurant that never approved of it?!
I also have a "GC" from this site for a restaurant that closed before I got to use it.
So many reasons this website should not be allowed to continue scamming people out of their money!
This is the biggest false advertisement lie and I'm so pissed they fooled me. This is not a gift card at all, its basically a coupon that will get you $5 - $15 off a purchase. Each restaurant requires you to purchase a minimum. So for example I could get $15 of if I spend $75 are more at this particular restaurant. They advertise it as if your getting a gift card for $75 at the discounted price of $15. So don't be fooled liked myself and purchase a coupon. I've honestly never heard of that concept. And to make thing worse most restaurant they have listed don't except the coupons and have no clue how they are even being sold. I'm going to dispute it with my bank and see if I can possibly get this refunded.
I have had "money" in here since 2016... they have NO places worth going to anywhere near me except Marcos. I called and had the rudest guy on the phone... Tried telling him there were no places near me and the few that were 30 miles away, we would NOT go to.
Great concept, bad marketing and getting NEW and BETTER places
Horrible experience, I had multiple $25 credits to use for restaurants. Every time I tried to redeem one for a restaurant, it would say it was redeemed, but the credit wouldn't go away, but the certificate for the restaurant had never showed up and if I tried using that credit again, it would say "oops, not enough credits left to redeem", even though it said the credits were still there. The customer service wasn't helpful, they would just send you photo instructions to your email that dont help. Half the instructions are out dated from the actual website. Can't used this app at any restaurant like it says. Don't waist your time or your money purchasing any certificates or deals on this app. IT'S NOT WORTH THE HEADACHE!
I received a $100 restaurant.com gift card as a gift (of course); what I am getting at is that I never personally paid for the gift card or a certificate through restaurant.com. When I saw all the restaurants that were listed on the website/app, I thought it would be neat to check out so many mom and pop restaurants as well as cafes. My first two restaurant experiences/uses of the gift card went by without incident. On my third try, the restaurant owner claimed his restaurant just ended up on the website, he did not recognize/honor the certificates, and he never came to any deals with restaurant.com. Moreover, he claimed that restaurant.com would not respond to his inquiries. I went to another restaurant after this without incident. Noting that several restaurants from the website/app no longer existed. At this point, I was thinking the website/app was not up to date and the owner's situation from the third try was a one off incident. I recently traveled to the Dallas/Fort Worth area, where I came across several restaurants that reiterated what the owner from my third try stated. In addition, they verified that, aside from receiving the forced/surprise advertisement on the restaurant.com website/app, they received no monetary benefit at all from restaurant.com. One restaurant owner went so far as to give me my $10.00 discount without using the certificate. After I experienced multiple incidents like this, I decided to leave $25 on the card and throw it in the trash. This idea is good (certificates for mom and pop restaurants). I appreciate the idea. However, after digging into what restaurant.com does, its business practices are so shady that I want nothing to do with it.
Restaurant.com tried to defend their criminal behavior but paypal sided with me as they couldn't produce any signed contracts for any of the restaurants(This is a an automated email they send to defend their criminal company). I really wish i had researched the company before purchasing but glad to have 100% of my money back! Put in a claim via paypal and get your $$ back!
This site just creates vouchers for restaurants without their authority or approval. Could not use a single voucher at any of the restaurants they listed for as those restaurants all said they do not deal with restaurant.com and never gave their permission for them to start selling vouchers for restaurants that have no way of redeeming them. AVOID THIS CRIMINAL COMPANY
I received a flyer from John C Bember ( Pete?) and the code was missing. Well the code that applies to them, doesn't work. He was advertising it, because he sells insurance. Dang people is it that bad. Scammers never sleep, geez!
I completed a lengthy survey after attending an event and received a "$25 restaurant.com gift certificate"... I go to the website to redeem the code and every single place has a minimum of $45 or $50 purchase... for a $25 gift card? Basically these aren't gift cards, just another mode of advertisement for the lack luster restaurants listed on their site. Almost all of the available options are not in my town, and when they are by the time I reach their minimum I'm already spending as I normally would without a card! I never spend $50 at a mexican restaurant or the small BBQ joint in our town. Give me a break. What a waste of time.
Bought 4 lunch certificates and 4 Dinners certificates, when i went to use them at the restaurant i bought them for, I was told they already been used. Did not use the coupons and was very upset to be told I could not use them because they were already cashed in?
SCAM... DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!
I would give this site zero stars if possible. I find the site hard to negotiate and after nine years of them having my money I decided to try again to retrieve my money in credit towards a restaurant. So far I am into this for 1 hour and have gotten absolutely nowhere after 3 phone calls to them. A no refund policy is not being honest. I believe it is a SCAM and I want my money $175 worth refunded. I have been turned down 3 times. I am sorry I ran into this offer. It stinks!
I work at a resteraunt listed on their website but we are not affiliated with them in any way. People come in with certificates that we can not honor because they have no actual value.
Got email saying 10 of purchased certificates no longer honored. Exchanged for credit, but there are so few places to go to not even worth it. Took our money and it is useless now and tied up with Restaurant.com. Scam artists they are! Disgusting.
I have 8 unused certificates, 2 of the places have closed and all are unable to exchange.
Total Scam - don't waste your time or money.
Don't waste your money or time! I like coupons, but these are not worth the hassle. Do not patronize this business.
This outfit is an absolute scam. Once you get on their list you can never get off. They actually have a customer service department to tell you that you can never get off their list and you can never delete your account. Their "coupons" are useless (e.g. You have to spend $50 at a fast food place to use the coupon). We were signed up by Mad City Windows in Wisconsin -- don't trust them either, they lure you into this site with promises of restaurant discounts.
Why someone wants to give you this for watching a timeshare is beyond me. They are just trying to get you in there and lying with false promises to you! DON'T BOTHER! GEVA IS A FRAUD! STAY AWAY FROM TIMESHARES! MOST OF THEM ARE A RIP OFF! JUST TRYING TO GET YOUR MONEY!
I bought an restaurant.com card hoping to use it to host it for a party. What I did not realize is that i cannot pay the entire bill with the card. And they are one of those organization that has fine prints that aren't obvious and will later come bite your $#*!. ANY BUSINESS THAT HAS A NON REFUNDABLE POLICY IS UNRELIABLE. and Restaurant.com is the same way. I did not realise that this is non refundable, all it has is sucky gift certificates with wierd minimum order policies (min order $75, $150 from places that serves $10 pizzas - so basically useless will you want to dine by yourself or even with a few friends). STAY AWAY AND NEVER BUY.
Answer: Same thing happened to me. There is no live person to talk to. They will give you a credit to use on another voucher but you will probably run into the same problem.
Answer: Burn it! Restaurant.com is not going to work with you at all. They are scam artists
Answer: Most likely because of people like me. I had never heard of this company, but, was offered their cards as part of a promotion. After being burned, I took the time to post my opinion. Others may not take the time to caution others...
Answer: Yes you need to pay almost 5 times as much as you pay. Dont do that
Answer: Terms of use make it nearly impossible to redeem gift cards.
Answer: No restaurants directly accept the gift card at the restaurant.
Answer: Don't even bother
Answer: You probably can't since it is virtually impossible to reach the company. I wish I had a better answer for you.
Answer: Your question is not very clear but if your certificate is "unused" I assume that means it hasn't been used yet and it is available for you to use. Be sure to check for other possible restrictions and minimum purchases.
Answer: And when you call restaurant.com Theresa K or some other staff member will politely tell you, in essence, you don't have any $135 value. They will find a reason but they will suggest you spend more only to loss that too. Be cautious.
