The company has garnered significant negative feedback, primarily centered around customer service failures and issues with account management. Many customers report lost funds and unresponsive support, leading to sentiments of being scammed. Additionally, the limited and outdated restaurant options have contributed to dissatisfaction, as customers frequently encounter closed establishments. While a few positive experiences are implied regarding the product concept, the overwhelming sentiment reflects frustration and distrust. To improve its reputation, the company must enhance communication, streamline account management, and ensure accurate listings of participating restaurants.

Received a promotion for restaurant.com through my electric company a few years ago.So I thought this was a legitimate good offer since it was being promoted by them. Made several gift card purchases to be redeemed at a local restaurant. Every time I went to redeem the certificate, the restaurant either did not accept it anymore or you need to spend an ridiculous amount of money to eat there when it would cheaper to just pick your favorite restaurant and go. In a 35 radius of my home there is not 1 restaurant that it is the type of restaurant that was promoted initially. They do not have 1 restaurant now that I would even eat at based on their cuisine and price to eat there with the gift card purchased. Called their customer service department to try to resolve it 3 times. Every representative that picked up sounded robotic and miserable, which is just another indicator of how the company is managed. Asked to speak with a supervisor and every time, they are either eating lunch or unavailable. Can't provide a proof of purchase because have been unable to redeem or even give as a gift. Stay away from this company. Great Customer service is everything which they fail to provide.
Apparently this company finds that fixing their website is not a real issue. I bought a group on juts flat out could not use it on the website. The flaw being you follow the directions and input the code as instructed. It shows up gives the credit you save it. And when you try to purchase with the credit like a ghost it disappears. I tried a half dozen variations and the credit is gone each time. Attempts top contact Restaurant.com is a joke. They flat out do not respond. No customer service but they do collect money. Unethically Groupon policy is three days to egt money back and to contact Restaurant.com. Obviously i lost out here. Caveat emptor buyer beware. PS BBB gave them a very low rating
Two different dates with $2 charge each has been post it to my Bank Acct. Trying to call and it has been over 11 min..
Hard to understand how this operation remains in business & has not been forced to close.
They do not list a phone # for obvious reasons, since it helps shield them from angry customers. All email contacts receive a totally USELESS canned response. You can send 10 different inquiries & received the same, exact canned reply. Stay away!
0 stars. Restaurants are visible on the website, but not on the app. Trying to redeem on the app seems impossible. You have to select the restaurant you want to use the gift card at in the app but they are not there as they were on the website. Went to the restaurant that was listed on the website and they said they don't accept it. Dude on the phone at Restaurants.com offered me a $150 card for $20, and they never expire. WOW what a deal when you can't even use it. This appears to me to be some type of scam. The card I have was a promo for buying something, so I'm not too mad that it is worthless but I wasted 2 hours of my life on this. My brother lives in another state and there are no decent places to use it there either.
Wow I wish 0 stars was an option. I never received the certificate I ordered and promptly went online to resolve. First they said that my email didn't exist so I tried starting a new account only to be told that an account with that email already existed. Multiple attempts at resetting it failed because the codes they said they were sending never arrived. I reached out through their support link and requested a refund stating that the certificate would no longer be of use to me since I only needed it for a specific date (already passed due to their error). I was told that they do not issue refunds and was offered a 2nd certificate for the same restaurant at a further discount. If I no longer have use for the first one why would I want two? I wish I had read the reviews first!
In my area, local business have quit accepting vouchers from restaurant.com. The remaining businesses available to redeem vouchers is few and far between or for establishments I would eat from. This is a waste of time and money. Gift vouchers were a package gift card for dinner and movies.
This place uses restaurants to build there website, while the restaurants are the only ones to take a lost. Restaurant.com has everything to gain. Called in the remove my restaurant and the rep was one of the rustiest people I've ever spot with. After asking 20 times to remove my business from the site and his rude mouthpiece. I asked to speak to a supervisor and he hung up. This place is a scam. They are some fast talkers when trying to sign you up, but when you want out it's like pulling teeth. Called back and the next guy said the last guy removed my business from the site. I again asked to speak to a supervisor and he insisted his supervisor was in a meeting. I requested a call back and ask his supervisor name he then stated "oh I have three"... all in a meeting...
I tried using their coupon and it was hard to navigate and cash in the coupon. The restaurant called the Dam in Broadbrook Connecticut worked with me and we were able to cash it in later on that day. But it was a pain to do on both of use through the website. It's not as easy as it looks.
Very few participating restaurants and minimal allowance of Restaurant.com credit. Must make much larger restaurant purchases with only allowance of minimal credit. Total Rip-Off!
My family doesn't fly often, so the cheapest way to keep our frequent flyer miles from expiring is buying restaurant.com cards using miles every 18 months or so. Other than serving that purpose, the certificates are a joke. It takes so much work and planning to use one I've tried it only once in five years. And even then the restaurant did not honor the certificate saying they do not participate in the program any more. Guess what? That same restaurant is still listed on the website 2 years later. At least my cards served a purpose even if I never use them, but I do feel sorry for those who got duped into paying hard-earned cash for theirs.
Over 80% of the reviews are one star... 90% of those would be ZERO if we could vote that way. AOL decided to make these clowns part of their monthly package. I made a purchase and have hated myself for ever getting sucked into a "bargain". Imagine if I had gone on my date without enough money to cover the bill when they refused my certificate. Restaurant.com could care less... they got the money.
THIS IS THE WROST SITE EVER! THE OPTIONS THAT THEY GIVE YOU ARE HORRIBLE ON TOP OF NOT HAVING ANY GOOD SELECTIONS! I HAVE TO TRAVEL 2O MILES TO GET A GOOD PLACE TO USE MY COUPOND! THE RESTURANT SITE AND PICTURES OF FOOD ARE BAD GOT $200 IN COUPONS WILL JUST THROW AWAY CAUSE ITS A WASTE.AND THEY DONT TELL YOU HOW TO USE THEM ALSO ALOT OF OLACES DONT APPEC THEM! PLEASE DONT US SITE.
The worst, most difficult website to use. I'm pretty sure they made it this way so you would eventually give up and not spend your vouchers.
Check ahead to make sure restaurant still honors, website is persnickety, customer service meh. I use them when I travel, for an adventure out of my an a few local places in my neighborhood. Some of them ARE very nice quaint restaurants.
Restaurant.com asked me to exchange a certificate for another restaurant since the original restaurant stopped using them. I can see why. In their convoluted exchange software they lost my original certificate after saying, "We are unable to exchange at this time. Try again later." When I went back to do the exchange, the certificate was no longer there. They keep asking me to "reply" to their letter and they will help- but they just send the same letter again. No phone number. QUITE A WASTE OF TIME.
SOMEBODY IN THE LAW, should practice the LAW AND PUT EVERYONE OF THESE Fing criminal bastards in jAIL...
I got a $100 voucher card. It appears to be useless. Hardly any restaurant's near me and the ones available are bar and grill types. Anyway, their website will not accept my code #. Either a poorly executed attempt at a start up business or a scam designed to steal peoples money. I'm thinking the latter.
THE MOST DIFFICULT WEB TO MANUEVER AROUND IN, COULDN'T FULLY DOWNLOAD VOUCHER, TRIED TO CALL THE COMPANY FOR ASSISTANCE, GOT HUNG UP ON (3) TIMES! IN MY AREA THEY MOSTLY OFF THE WALL MEXICAN PLACES, 1 DECENT GREEK RESTAURANT - NEVER EVER AGAIN WOULD I USE/NOR RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY - THEY'RE A JOKE - THEY RIPPED ME OFF! TOOK ME FOR MY $30... TRIED TO CANCEL ON MY CREDIT CARD SINCE I COULD GET NO HELP - NO SUCH LUCK... LESSON LEARNED...
I bought vouchers for closed businesses and for businesses that wouldn't even accept the vouchers. I have $35.00 in credit and they will not give cash back, even though all the restaurants in my area are not good ones and I have to spend an extravagant amount to use them. Like $75.00 at a burger joint. THESE VOUCHERS ARE NOT A DEAL! I have asked 3 times to get my money back, but they dance around that subject with another stupid reply. Do not waste your time here. GROUPON is so much better and you can get your money back.
Answer: Same thing happened to me. There is no live person to talk to. They will give you a credit to use on another voucher but you will probably run into the same problem.
Answer: Burn it! Restaurant.com is not going to work with you at all. They are scam artists
Answer: Most likely because of people like me. I had never heard of this company, but, was offered their cards as part of a promotion. After being burned, I took the time to post my opinion. Others may not take the time to caution others...
Answer: Yes you need to pay almost 5 times as much as you pay. Dont do that
Answer: Terms of use make it nearly impossible to redeem gift cards.
Answer: No restaurants directly accept the gift card at the restaurant.
Answer: Don't even bother
Answer: You probably can't since it is virtually impossible to reach the company. I wish I had a better answer for you.
Answer: Your question is not very clear but if your certificate is "unused" I assume that means it hasn't been used yet and it is available for you to use. Be sure to check for other possible restrictions and minimum purchases.
Answer: And when you call restaurant.com Theresa K or some other staff member will politely tell you, in essence, you don't have any $135 value. They will find a reason but they will suggest you spend more only to loss that too. Be cautious.
