After being with American Home Shield for 20 years, we just signed with Select today. We shopped and found a plan that offers coverage on more items for a little less money. Mark J. Our sales representative, was very informative and answered all of our questions. We look forward to the next 20 years with Select.
Made one claim in a year, they sent out a very unprofessional, late technician who spent 15 min to tell me my A/C was out. He collected $60 and left. SHW did nothing to repair my unit because it was a leak and they don't cover Freon leaks. Come renewal time they called me everyday, 3-4 times a day and then when I addressed my reasons for not renewing the customer service rep got an attitude. Don't waste your time or money with these people. This is the first warranty I've ever purchased and I won't buy another one. BEWARE
I have had multiple home warranties and never as bad as Select. The sellers gave us, unfortunately, this warranty. It is a completely worthless home warranty. They didn't cover emergency plumbing. They said a home inspector should have taken apart our toilet to discover that it was missing a phlange. They refused to pay for water damage as well. Don't waste your time. I've filed complaints with the NJ Attorney General's Office & in the State where I live. The BBB complaint in case anyone reads, as well as the NY Jets that they've partnered with and the NJ Department of Consumer Affairs. Stay away. Run. Read other review sites. 1-star from people who have submitted claims. Good ratings are from people who most likely were given a discount.
They are a waste of money and time! If I could give them less than a star I would. First they talked you into the coverage that sounds amazing. They don't disclose the contract until you have purchased already. They promised repair or replacement but that's not the real deal. After you purchase the coverage you have to wait 30 days and then you also have to wait another 30 days to get full coverage per paragraph 10.1 (see screenshot of email). On top of that the limits that are stated are not worth it. A bought additional coverage for my pool claiming that they will replace items if they break. They won't and if you get anything they will limit it to $400. That's nowhere close to the cost of replacing a pool pump. Again not worth it! Heed my warning.
Bought coverage on two properties. Attempted to use them on three or four occasions over a three year period. Not one single positive experience with them. Most egregious was an AC issue that was relatively minor. Out of the blue, they asked for historical maintenance records on the unit. Most don't have those on items requiring repair, nor should they. Just so happens, I had them as yearly maintenance was part of my coverage with my previous home warranty company. They tried every tactic possible to not accept the information they requested, and it finally took BBB and a state insurance group involvement to get them to pay out. This is just one example, they attempt to find a way out if paying on every single claim.
Read the fine print very carefully!
Contract overview says they cover any age equpimento without need for service records. BUT between the exclusions and the prorated value of your equipment and max amounts covered you would be better off putting your money in a sock for when you need a repair done.
AND don't bother cancelling the policy expecting a partial refund. After their calculation of what the refund is you won't be getting much (anything) back. I've had my contract for 3 1/2 years out of a 6 year contract with 1 claim they say cost them $235. My refund would have been $0 if I had cancelled, which is the only reason I still have the contract.
My microwave oven gone faulty and person came for inspection.It's been 3 weeks of continuous every day follow up since then. Every time they say they didn't recieve inspection report from GE person and issue will be resolved in 48 hours or they will call back. They are not connecting to any superior also. Please let me know how to resolve this issue.
I have been aspecting a check for $150.00 for 7 months.
I have 10 emails with excuses of delay, mail issue, personal in vacation and bla bla bla
Buck of liars.

I purchased 5 years of service when we purchased our new home. The jury is still out regarding how well they handle claims. The lag time from call to service needs work. My expectations are high. I was pleased with their response to this claim. I found them to be polite and helpful. They even did well pronouncing Chattanooga not an easy task for someone outside the USA. I will write more after the repairs are completed and paid for.
I called several companies to research home warranties. I had spoken to two of them before Select, and had one more to call. After talking to Richard #5056, I knew this was the company for me. He explained everything very clearly and just working with him made my decision to choose Select. I just hope the service is as stellar as the sales experience was.

Answer: After filing 5 claims, and one tech that wanted to pad his pocket resulting in me fixing my own leak in a toilet at my expense after paying their tech. And another tech wanting to get my pool setup for summer at150. More than I already gave for deductible she didn't fix my pump or water line to my pool. Both denied by select home Warrenty. And 3 more that I paid their techs for then had to fix it myself. Now my freezers compressor is out and they took money out of my bank account without my permission after saying they would go ahead and fix the freezer well guess what they declined it. And said it wasn't covered when in the contract it says it is. List all meat and others because of 3 weeks if waiting for them
