They are charging customers way too much for shipping. I have reviewed many items and a 5 pound item will receive a 22 pound shipping weight. I use fedx as well shopgoodwill says it's because of the dimensions that's not quite true. I have contacted fedx on this issue and it seems shopgoodwill is padding the scale. Maybe that's why the CEO makes millions. All I can say is buyer beware!
I used to bid on many items and won lots of bids. Always paid on time too. Then I had to have surgery and rehab. During that time I apparently won some auctions but since I was rehabilitating from surgery wasn't on the computer and missed the deadline for payments. They promptly disabled my account. I explained the situation to them but they didn't care a bit. The guy said thank you for all your purchases but you can't have an account ever again. What a jerk! So much for having compassion. I won't even donate to this criminal organization again. I'll give to Purple Heart or Salvation Army.
I have bought several pieces of china that were described in good condition and arrived broken and glued together or chipped. I do not consider glued and chipped china to be in good condition. I recently received a set of dishes that was so poorly packed over half the items were smashed and broken. I called and emailed the store, sent photos of broken items, and they still have not refunded my money over 2 months later. The manager is rude and insulting in addition to doing nothing to solve the issue. I then challenged the charge on my credit card and sent the credit card company photos of all the broken dishes and Goodwill is now fighting refunding my money with the credit card company! In a separate transaction I bought a teacup for 39.00 and they charged $21.00 in shipping and handling. I spent thousands on their auctions wanting to help the organization but sadly the unprofessional conduct means I will no longer support this charity.
Title says it all. Not only are you charged a handling price, but shipping is three to four times what it should be! For example, I purchased a very small item weighing 5oz (could be shipped USPS Priority for under $3) but I was charged $13. If you're going to buy from this site, I strongly encourage you to check the shipping charges before bidding.
Outrageous shipping check cost before you bid. Sells medical equipment illegally. Damages items they ship need more supervision they blame it on the type of help. I blame it on the person who should be supervising there personnel. Need more training or someone to check what is going on
I purchased a vacuum cleaner and a printer through the auction. It took a long time to get my items. Neither of my items worked and I ended up being out of $72. My advice is to just go to the actual goodwill store. You can test your items in the store and they have a return policy which the site does not. Don't waste your time and money on broken crap like I did. Wish I had known.
I tried 2 auctions with Goodwill and both orders arrived with broken pieces, not as described and basically garbage items. One was a down coat that was so old that when I had it cleaned(it stunk) it fell apart. They have terrible customer service and don't take responsibility for selling unusable items and describing them as "excellent" condition. Shipping is outrageous so save your money and don't buy from them.
Poor poor shipping practices. I bought 8 toys from Colorado that probably weighed 8 lbs. They charged me $60 for shipping, more than toys were worth. I have sent them a letter to see if they would be fair and charge me actual shipping... we shall see! I will update if get satisfactory response.
I bought some Cross pens for $40, spent $16 on the shipping of their choice, and when it arrived, NEITHER the pen nor the pencil worked! Customer Service could care less "we get such volume that we can't test things." Then it should be stated on the auction that it is untested as to whether the dang pen or pencil actually WRITE. Intentional misleading by them. Do not waste your time and money on this website!
I purchased a few items from Goodwill, just recently 3 iPad's, and so far it will online really sucks. If you want to download information to them they only give you 4 mb for a picture that's not enough. They are very poor customer service. But that is by design they don't want you sending anything back if they make mistakes in listing and item, is very hard for them to fess up that they made a mistake so they ignore the emails that you send them and only respond within one day enclose out the response poor customer service they have online do not purchase. Apple products from these guys they do not have credibility in this area. Buyer beware.
I have purchased 3 electronic item off of them that where total junk! Their disclaimer says buying as is. But all three items where "tested and power on" one was a 5 disc cd changer sure it powered on, but the darn tray would not come out the laser tray was stuck and gears where broken. No discloser of that. But I have bought other items that where just fine. Stay away from electronics from them!
Purchase something and first it takes FOREVER to get and they have all kinds of fees added on. One purchase was won at $7.99 handling fee $2.99 tax like $1.53 and shipping $14.76! WTF! Use USPS for like $5.00. A wallet should not cost that much to ship! Not paying for it
How is it that you pay out the@#$ for shipping and don't forget handling, to wait 7 days for item to be shipped, then when you ask to cancel, they flat out refuse. If I ran my business this way, I wouldn't have clients! For people looking for other places to shop try auction ninja, caring transitions and hibid. They are auction sites and they are fair on shipping and they are kind. No goodwill will ever come from ripping people off!
Eh, it's okay for me. I've gotten some good deals on some unusual things. Make very, very sure you always check the estimated shipping BEFORE you bid on anything to avoid unpleasant surprises as they always seem to use the most expensive shipping method possible. I just won an auction for $18 for something that weighs nothing, and the shipping charge they slapped on it put my total in the 30s.
I purchased 2 different pairs of sunglasses from the online auction division of this store. They advertised the sunglasses as Maui Jim brand. I received the sunglasses and immediately saw that these are not genuine Maui Jim brand. They did not have the company and style information printed on the arms, and the lenses are not polarized. Maui Jim only sells polarized sunglasses. I contacted Goodwill and was given a shipping label to return the first pair of sunglasses. I returned them, and Goodwill refused to return my money. They refused to respond to me after receiving the sunglasses back. I haven't returned the second pair yet, but I'm fighting to get my money back! What a scam!
I've found really cool amazing stuff at Goodwill auctions that I Iikley would never come across otherwise. Unfortunately it's a crap shoot if it will arrive intact or not. FedEx doesn't destroy them, incompetence in Goodwill's shipping/packing does.
If you decide to purchase anything, understand that you are gambling, not buying. Hit or miss on customer service, make sure to pay attention to particular sellers, like Goodwill of Central Texas. Never buy from Goodwill of Central Texas, ever.
Wow I have purchased quite a few items here on shopgoodwill and was never charged
A sales tax on the purchase. This time the MN store did waaaah they gave me a BS story that their laws on internet sales have changed. OK whatever so besides the ridiculous handling charge they add now we have to pay a tax as well? What a crock of s...
I just returned a dress that looked nothing like its photo. I have now concluded that they are just throwing "any piece of Krap" on the auction site for bidding. In 2016 when I first started using GW's Auction site the merchandise was nice. But now in 2022 it is trash. I texted the company that several of the their stores are just putting any trashed item up for bid. Items that should be sold in the stores only. This dress was old, smells, has yellowed tags, made of cheap scratchy fabric, looks like it was in a closet since 1970. If I had seen this dress in person--I wouldn't have bought it, not even to wash my car with. This dress should have gone into the store or in the recycle fabric bid. My $9.99 turned into a $33.00 EXPENSE.
I purchased a doll and doll case. The item was dirty. But I realize that I am shopping at Goodwill. Be realistic - these are give away items that the past owners did not want. So do not expect first quality items to be purchased from this site. Set your expectations as if you were shopping at your local Goodwill. And remember you are giving to a good cause.
I used to watch this site daily, but minimum price went from 5.99 to 9.99 plus shipping and handling... most of the items that i watched you could buy new for less than 9.99 and most of this is used merchandise. I am about done with goodwill.com. I still like the stores but they really need to watch there prices... going to price out of customers.
Answer: It did not get lost they did not get the price they wanted for the said item so it's lost they will wait for a while and realist it under a different item number and raise the shipping price and bid price with the auto bods so they can get a higher price for the item
Answer: Well look at the salary of their CEO vs. The salary of the Salvation Army's CEO. That will tell you what kind of "non-profit" it is.
Answer: If buyer got to leave their personal experiences with this company, they wouldn't exist in a year. They aren't going to risk that. Only honest sellers want their information posted for everyone to see. So don't expect it from Goodwill.
Answer: If you aren't using paypal or a credit card, there isn't much recourse. With paypal, the seller has to prove you received the item. If they can't, you will get your money back.
