Had someone hack it my account bid on a broken small watch. When I reported it they told me that I was the highest binder and if I didn't pay for in I will have a unpaid on my account..
I bid on a pair of Tory Burch flats that are in very good condition. According to the item description they were Size 10.5. Maybe 10.5 Kids! No way! I waited about 1 week for them to get shipped, then, they arrived a day late, so it was about 2 weeks after I paid that I got them.
I would say that unless the shoe or item of clothing shows the size, I would not bid on the item.
Also, I tried contacting the goodwill store I was buying them from and they simply did not reply.
I am regular buyers of Goodwill stores and I start to buy on this site. Even I am new I sense that they have 'Inside bidders' after I won one items. You all have to be very careful to buy on this site.
I have heard Goodwill employees get a huge discount if they buy something on their site. Like 30% so its not a true auction
When I originally found this website, I thought it was a hidden gem where I could find great deals but with the outrageous shipping and handling charges, these supposedly great deals go out the door. I ordered an item(for a considerable amount of money) and it came to me with a hole. Since the item description had called the item "good" condition, I messaged the seller and after back and forth communication around a week and a half later I got an email saying i would be refunded. It's yet to go through to my bank account but assuming it goes through, i'm pleased with that customer service.
Outrageous shipping prices. They'd sell so much more if they'd post reasonable shipping and handling prices. I work for USPS, and shopgoodwill.com is definitely waaaay over price on charges.
I bought a sewing machine from the Colorado GoodWill, they sent the wrong machine and would not make the transaction right. They claimed they sent the correct machine even though they asked for the return of the machine and were able to see that it was incorrect.
I have had many transactions with shop goodwill.com. Probably 75% of the items I've purchased, since 2005, have come damaged or misrepresented. Descriptions are never accurate. Items are shipped damaged and then the goodwill seller tries to blame it on the shipper etc. after all these years I won't buy from them again. Not worth all the hassle. They should be investigated for fraud
So far, I've gotten everything shipped to me in good condition, all items came intact and packaged well. Shipping and handling prices can be really high at times, which is my main complaint about this site. I buy from their one cent shipping section to avoid having to pay the overpriced shipping/ handling. Overall, the shopping experience is decent.
As an Merchandise Inventory Supervisor for an online Ebay store owner, I never cease to be shocked at the broken items we have received out of the box, the poor quality packaging materials and thoughtless packing techniques. Goodwill has lost its "goodwill " to its customers. This level of repeated carelessness is never the standard with antique, EBay store owners. Goodwill gets the items free and looks toward their profit line and have no respect for the market. You're thriving as a vintage etc dealer, but do not function in the class of these professionals. There are excellent choices in this marketplace and we will make that choice going forward. I will be sure to list a complaint with the BBB, and our fellow dealers and families. You have taken for granted that because you don't see our faces, you have no accountability. It's the opposite, we are very conscious of our hard earned dollars, and poor customer service is a sign of management and organizational flaws. We will also redirect charitable donations to another source such as yours. I'm sure your Founding Fathers and Mother's would turn in their graves in shame if it was possible. Find your mission and vision statement, blow off the dust and attempt to become a quality online company in 2020, stop hiding behind a historical name that represents quality, compassion and professionalism at its best.
Respectfully and goodbye!

Customer service is slow to respond and shipping and handling costs are obscene! I don't know why it is such a battle to get combined shipping!
They are charging customers way too much for shipping. I have reviewed many items and a 5 pound item will receive a 22 pound shipping weight. I use fedx as well shopgoodwill says it's because of the dimensions that's not quite true. I have contacted fedx on this issue and it seems shopgoodwill is padding the scale. Maybe that's why the CEO makes millions. All I can say is buyer beware!
It seems to me I'll look at a lot of jewelry and by the time you paid the shipping and it's selling for what you would normally pay in the store for it at least at a pawn shop you get a much better deal. I can't understand why a Goodwill would charge full price for stuff that they have it's been dominated if I want to pay $3,000 for a ring and I will go to Leroy's or Kay.
Bought 2 DSLR cameras. Both not working. They finally said I could return, but had to pay shipping to return and they would not refund original shipping. Was not worth the trouble or expense. Did not learn my lesson. Bought a baseball glove. Paid with in 2 days. It has been 2 weeks and they have not shipped yet. They say they are busy but will ship some time.
I've found really cool amazing stuff at Goodwill auctions that I Iikley would never come across otherwise. Unfortunately it's a crap shoot if it will arrive intact or not. FedEx doesn't destroy them, incompetence in Goodwill's shipping/packing does.
If you decide to purchase anything, understand that you are gambling, not buying. Hit or miss on customer service, make sure to pay attention to particular sellers, like Goodwill of Central Texas. Never buy from Goodwill of Central Texas, ever.
Be careful about making purchases on this site. I bought a 14kt gold bracelet used. Not a bad bracelet; however, it is a child's bracelet. No where in the description was this mentioned. Even dear old Twiggy could not get this to fit around her wrist. I will hand it down to my grand daughter. It was not a good deal.
I've purchased some nice items from SGW. But I've also purchased some duds and flukes. There is no recourse if you purchase a bad or defective item. They claim the items are as-is and not tested. I purchased a $360 guitar that is unplayable because the neck is warped. According to SGW, the item is as-is... even though no mention was made of a warped neck. I wonder if PayPal has any protection against defective products because SGW will not stand behind their items.
I was a bit skeptical when I saw an almost brand new pair of Salvatore Ferragamo shoes were going for $15.00 at the Goodwill online auction with just 5 minutes to go. The advertisement showed a Certificate of Authenticity by "Authentication First" "a small and unreliable company with two "authenticators" with little experience, (found out this later). So I decided to bid on them and I won the bid. When I received the shoes and started to look at the, I noticed that the shoes were not leather (a trade characteristic of all Ferragamo shoes). The sole and the upper were P. U. I contacted the Goodwill shop I bought them from and was told that the COA said they were authentic and that they would not refund my money. I decided to write Ferragamo and gave them the serial number stamped inside the shoes, and was told that that particular serial number did not exist in Ferragamo shoes. I contacted then "Authenticate First" person (Gina) and was told that since I was not the person on the certificate I could not request a a change of the COA to rectify their wrong authentication, only Goodwill could do that. So here I am in a Catch-22 scenario... How can this type of scam can be permitted online in the U.S.? Go figure... One thing I know for sure now, I will never support Goodwill Industries again in my life and will try to persuade other in doing the same..
I have spent thousands on items from these sites and finally confirmed my suspicions that many of the auctions are rigged and they gauge the customers with their "handling and shipping fees". I was watching an auction the other day, it ended on JULY 16,2020, for a Dior purse. I was going to bid on it. There were 12 BIDS on the purse. All of a sudden the auction ended and it now says there were O BIDS! This is a lie as I was watching and planning on bidding. Also, they charge 3.00 and 4.00 HANDLING FEES and the shipping is way out there. Also, if you send emails asking questions, many times they don't answer you. I sent three email to the PA store and NEVER got a reply. The SOUTHERN, CA store is the one that took off the Dior bag and said there were NO BIDS... The workers are rude and lazy. They expect you to spend a large sum of our hard earned money BUT don't ask for clear pictures and better descriptions because many times you won't get them. I am told, oh, we put it in a box and can't take it out now. Well you say you are saying a real Dior bag YET you don't take pictures of the inside or give a detailed description of the item... BUYER BEWARE,,,
Answer: It did not get lost they did not get the price they wanted for the said item so it's lost they will wait for a while and realist it under a different item number and raise the shipping price and bid price with the auto bods so they can get a higher price for the item
Answer: Well look at the salary of their CEO vs. The salary of the Salvation Army's CEO. That will tell you what kind of "non-profit" it is.
Answer: If buyer got to leave their personal experiences with this company, they wouldn't exist in a year. They aren't going to risk that. Only honest sellers want their information posted for everyone to see. So don't expect it from Goodwill.
Answer: If you aren't using paypal or a credit card, there isn't much recourse. With paypal, the seller has to prove you received the item. If they can't, you will get your money back.
