Booked a round trip flight from Denver to London through Student Universe. I saw the flight on the United website and the only discount was $20. Big whoop! But, my college age daughter, told me that professors wanted flights booked through this company. I made the mistake of going through Student Universe. Then, covid hit and flight was cancelled. Now, I have to deal with Student Universe instead of United Airlines directly. I just tried to re-book 3 small domestic flights with the credit. Searching Google flights, i see that these 3 flights only cost $161 total. The Student Universe rep quoted me $299.80 for all 3 flights. Basically, double the price of what I could pay right now. She said that because the London to Denver flight was deeply discounted, we have to pay more now on these domestic flights. I said - the London to Denver flight was only a $20 discount. THEN, I asked what would happen if my daughter got sick and couldn't make one of the upcoming domestic flights? She said that all 3 domestic flights would be cancelled and we would lose the $299.80 credit. SCAM! Worst yet, I HAVE to book all this through Student Universe - a middle man who is obviously just taking a big cut and taking advantage of the pandemic and selling students and parents a bill of goods. Do NOT book anything with this company. They should be ashamed of themselves and their business practices and if you are reading this review, Student Universe... do NOT try to blame this on airline policy or deeply discounted tickets. You are lying. That original ticket was NOT deeply discounted. LIARS!

The site advertised an additional fee to get a checked bag included and choose my seat. It didn't say all seats would cost extra and the checked bag wouldn't be detailed on the invoice.

I purchased a ticket, got a confirmation email; after hours I got an email from them requesting MY PERSONAL INFORMATION:
"The cardholder's phone number and email so we can contact them
Color pictures (not scanned) of the front & back portion of the card used in the purchase, with the first 12 digits of the credit card number and the security code covered.
A photo of a valid ID showing the card holder's signature.
Valid ID of passenger/s. Once we've confirmed the card information, your reservation will be ticketed at the current rate available. Unfortunately, if we do not receive this information in time, we will have to cancel the flight and refund any charges made."

Hi, sorry you felt that way. We were alerted by the system so we would request more info from the customer. As from time to time, we might receive real scams from people using stolen credit cards to make purchases. We prefer to verify such info in order to better protect our customers.
I got a good deal, but I couldn't check out with PayPal, I always use PayPal when I'm buying something expensive, so I can divide the cost, but the website forced me to use my credit card so now I have to pay $500 in one go
Another student told me about it on my university, I have used it twice.

Hi, sorry that we do not support paypal at the moment. We do accept major credit/debit cards such as mastercard and visa, in many cases, amex and discover as well.
I had to make booking changes and I wasn't able to do it through the airline. The staff here was very helpful in making this stressful situation much easier and they were able to solve my problem.

I am a student who is living and studying abroad for a year and I was not entirely sure when I needed to come back home when I was buying my ticket. So before getting my return ticket I called the customer service to ask about the price of changing the date of my return flight. I was told that it cost £15 (plus any difference in flight price) to change the flight which sounded very cheap so I was delighted. Unfortunately, this turned out to be untrue, and the actual price was an additional £150. The customer service was totally useless and blatantly lied to me. DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE. Just buy your tickets with the actual airlines it's much simpler and you are then definitely getting what you pay for. There was also a problem with the baggage allowance as I was told repeatedly that my ticket was an Economy ticket and according to the Lufthansa website (the airline the ticket was with) I was then entitled to two free bags. However, my ticket was not an Economy ticket, it was a Basic Economy ticket which only had one bag. I only found this out when checking in online. I then had to pay an extra £55 to Lufthansa to get my bags on the plane. Please do yourself a favor and stay away from Student Universe, they are terrible.

My son was doing a study abroad in England, we used student Universe twice, should have learned after the first time when cancelling within 24 hours was an act of congress, they purposefully ignore your phone calls and emails until your refund time has expired. That's the good part, my son's home college stopped the program because of the Covid-19 outbreak/pandemic and required all students to return to home immediately. I couldn't get my son's flight changed through United because I booked through Student Universe. I emailed Student Universe over a week prior to the College mandate to return home, just as a precautionary measure was going to bring my son back home early if necessary. I never received a response from customer service, but the sales and marketing junk mail flowed in like a river. After four hours of being on hold on the standard reservation line and two hours on the Premium line which I paid extra to get. All they had to say when I told them my son had to come home was too bad, your return ticket has no value, we can get you a seat for $450 in changes fees and $1500 for the fair difference. I had a pilot friend check the flight and there were 54 empty coach seats. Just trying to price gouge a college student that's stuck in another country during this terrible mess with Covid-19. Should not be allowed to sell airline tickets, should do something beneficial like go out of business. Gave one star as NO STAR wasn't an option.

Booking a trip through these incompetents has truly been a nightmare. Apparently they messed something up on my outgoing LATAM flight operated by Delta, and the online check-in confirmation code I received didn't work. I contacted Delta, who informed me that no passenger with my name is on the flight. I contacted LATAM, who informed me that the travel agency made a mistake and my information was never provided to Delta. I contacted the travel agency multiple times who informed me that they are reaching out to the airlines to correct the error. They sent me an email informing me to show up at the airport early the following day to check-in.
I did so, and of course Delta doesn't have me as a passenger on the flight. Called LATAM, who informed me that the travel agency made the error and LATAM is unable to correct it. Stood there for hours by the Delta counter like an idiot, for nothing.
There was no resolution and after I pushed for them to rebook my flight, they did... for a flight out of another airport. Wasted hours upon hours of my time, wasted my $70 in cab fare between airports and refused to cover the $150 "change fee." Rep claimed that they will be arguing for LATAM to reimburse the fee but that remains to be seen.

I would never recommend anyone to book seats and purchase tickets from this American Company called StudentUniverse. These guys show you the cheap tickets and impressed you to buy it; when you bought the ticket and feel happy that you have saved some money, then in the next phase, you will get an email that the airline has been rescheduled your flight and would straight away say that it's not our fault, the airline does change the flight. It's all pre-planned business of this company with airlines that you will change flights of any of our passengers as they are budget class tickets, so you can treat them as you like. I observed that my flights were changed regularly and said that flights had been changed by the airline, but in reality, the flights were still operating at the same time. Just imagine, you were going to utilise a cheaper ticket and thinking that you have saved some money, but you were paying more, because now the flight has been rescheduled, you are forcibly on a new booking and going to stopover in-between, that means you will have to pay extra money for a hotel, Taxi, Food and collect and rebook your luggage again. At the end of the day, if you calculate your travelling expenses, you will surprise to find that they will be far, far higher than the price of the ticket you did not buy at in the start due to the high cost and bought this cheap ticket. It's regularly happening with us, and now we strongly suggest to you guys that it's okay if you can afford this botheration but don't buy the cheaper ticket if you think that you have saved money.

Unfortunately, however frustrating it may feel to you (and to us too, sometimes), we are indeed bound to airline policies and terms when it comes to using credit and credit policies. However, it sounds like there's a few things going on here—usually credit is only available to be able to be used on a single flight itinerary. So if the three domestic flights you are booking are all connected on the same itinerary, and your daughter can't make one of them, the entire remainder of the itinerary at that time will be cancelled. This is standard in the travel industry—if you skip the first flight, the remainder of the itinerary is cancelled. Also, flights can be discounted on the backend as well, so there may well have been more discounting than appeared. With that, credit can only be used for flights that are the same class/ticket type as your original ticket type, which may be why you can see a cheaper flight on Google Flights than you're eligible for with your credit. We know that these credit policies can be confusing and frustrating, but unfortunately, airline credit policies are not as straightforward as just having a gift card or something similar.
