“They are very good at apologizing!”

Kristy S.
2/27/15

I've had T-Mobile for 5+ years now and I've found that while mistakes are sometimes made, (usually during ill-advised store visits) their phone based customer service is very good at making up for it. Any time I have called them with an issue they have been very quick to correct it and to give me some kind of compensation or perk to make up for the loss. While the website has had a few issues in the past with user-friendliness, they have made regular improvements over the years that help immensely. If you demand perfection constantly, not the carrier for you, but if you have a tiny bit of patience, they do come through in the long run.

Phones are junk and they then charge you to restock their junk. In store makes a sale and then cant help you with anything and believe me...you WILL have problems. Customer service? Our entire family had TM phones and now are completely disgusted with the "service". Plan on spending hours on the phone as you get put on hold, swapped around, cut off over and over again, and get told something different with every call. Have had constant glitches with the GPS, volume, camera lens etc etc etc. They used to be worth the extra money every month but NO good reasons to stay with them anymore. Steer clear.

I was with Sprint for years, I was told that my husband's phone was not 5G compatible that he was to get a phone for free. I was told this from Sprint and T-Mobile when I went into their store free was mentioned several times. I needed a new phone and I haven't had one in years I knew I qualified for an upgrade. I went into the local store they told me that I didn't qualify for an upgrade and that the only way I can get one is if I add another line of service. Untrained rude people in the store and horrible customer service. All they do is lie and hang up on you. Now I'm sending a bill for the phone because I switched companies, and they are also charging me a service fee and I haven't had service in months I try to explain this to customer service and she barely speaks English. Completely ridiculous charging me a service charge for service I have not had at all in months. I don't know how they stay in business the way they treat their customers! Absolutely the worst company I've ever dealt with! I can't rate this company because they are negative they don't even deserve one star.

My husband applied for two lines and two a14's. He paid the taxes and had the phones sent to us. We decided to have our package sent to our local ups store. When we was supposed to receive the package we was told that tmobile put a hold on it at one of the ups center at a neighboring county. We called all day to try to find our package. Several times we was told that the package would come to our nearest ups store. Then finally was told that the package had been returned to tmobile. They stated that they can't refund our money until they get the phones back. One rep Cherry told us that we can go to a nearest tmobile store and pay taxes and get our phones. Well we drive about 35 miles just to find out that a tmobile store cannot supply us with the phones we wanted, because our balance was not at zero. So I called tmobile customer service and asked to speak to a manager. Again the manager told us that he couldn't send out two phones to us until he got the other ones back and our money was refunded which could take seven to ten business days.
I told the manager that I would not pay another tax and surcharges for two more phones. He was not trying to help it felt like he was taking advantage of us so I told him to cancel our account and send my hard earned money back to me and we would find another phone company. He told me that was up to me, and he said do whatever I thought I needed to do. I really suggest Noone to get T-Mobile service they suck.

Tip for consumers:
T-Mobile is a joke. They don't care about their customers or soon to be customers.

I was initially interested in the Essentials 55 plan for $40/month with auto bill pay. The sales representative showed me, in writing, how I could get many more features, plus a free phone, for $55/month (via monthly reduction of the cost of the phone for 24 months), with the Go5G 55 plan. After signing up for the more costly plan, I learned that some of the features I had been promised were not included in that plan; they were only available on the Go5G Plus 55 plan, which would cost $70/month. I went back to the retail store three times, spoke with the sales rep and the store manager, who both assured me they would "fix" the problem. I later found out they had changed my plan to Go5G Plus 55 without my permission. I than phoned T-Mobile and spoke with two individuals (one being a manager) and was told the only thing they could do for me was to switch me back to the Go5G 55 plan, without the previously promised features. I have not been using T-Mobile long enough to comment on the wireless service.

Tip for consumers:
I visited the local retail store three times and spoke with representatives on the T-Mobile toll-free line for about an hour without obtaining a sarisfactory remedy.

Products used:
I am still using the phone I purchased, but have been unable to obtain all of the features of the service plan at the monthly rate I was promised.

I have been with Sprint for 20+ years now T-Mobile. I was shopping to see if I should switch to ATT with my wife's legacy plan or have her move with me on my Sprint legacy plan. I called the T-Mobile customer services line as I was shopping for rates they told me that I would get a 20% discount if I went to a different plan and I could add my wife. They send me a link I fill out the information. T-Mobile sent me an email to call they confirmed it's 15%. As I was ready to switch the contract, I double-checked I called the number again *******296, and yet again they said yes it's 15% and I am eligible for it. After they switched me to a more expensive plan there was no 15% discount, I called them and they said they apologized but I am not eligible for the 15% discount. I have spent hours on the phone they refused to pull the recording and listen to it to honor what they told me twice. I am currently looking to leave T-Mobile as it has been a nightmare for me since they bought Sprint. I highly recommend you do not do business with companies that do not honor their words especially when you have been with them for 20 years. I am looking to exit my contract with them and sign up with a different carrier. Haresh P.

Tried to push the crappiest phone on me as though they are emptying stock... also tried pushing the most expensive plan on me no matter how clearly I requested the basics!

Tip for consumers:
Would be helpful to have a clear understanding of the phone they pushed on me prior to being ALLOWED to move forward or backward... I was cornered into progressing with an agreement just to try to get questions answered ...

No you gave me this piece of crap now you trying to push it on me to pay more MONEY for this phone! I ve been with TMOBILE over 20 YEARS and never have I had any issues but this is UNACCEPTABLE! IM REALLY THINKING ABOUT CHANGING CARRIER after a 20 year relationship with them I always thought they where the BEST PHONE CARRIER but this is NOT good service.fyi I can not take a photo for the LINE WILL NOT SHOW

Tip for consumers:

I purchased a phone right before Christmas. This phone now doesn't work. Took it back to the location where I purchased it ( FM 78 in San Antonio, TX). The young man told me that the phone is defective. At this point I asked why would you sale defective phones. He told me to take it up with Motorola. I hit the ceiling. I did not. Purchase it from Motorola I purchased here. He called his self doing a check and re set the system. As he was doing this he preceded to tell me it's not going to work because the phone is defective people in my family has this phone and it's no good.
I call 800 and got absolutely no where. Basically they order another phone for me to get a text from T-Mobile this morning saying the phone is on backorder.
They have absolutely no remedy for this.
The best he could offer was to go to the store and get another sim card. I was like why would I do that if the phone is defective. Basically all solutions given would benefit T-Mobile nothing would benefit me
I had to use another phone to call 911 yesterday for my 91 year old Mother. I have to be at work without a phone tomorrow. Yet they have no solution. He finally suggested that I buy another phone. I was pissed. Sir if I buy another phone I promise you it would not be from T-Mobile... He abruptly ended the call... If they gave me a free phone and free service I wouldn't take it. Only gave a star to make this post

We had Sprint for over 15 years and we moved up to the top of the mountain. The service was not good, but Sprint gave us a booster and then it worked great for 8 years. THEN all of a sudden T-mobile decides to buy out Sprint. Now supposedly the Spring booster is not compatable with T-Modile service.
I Called probably 6-7 times and finally got a booster from T-Mobile. Then they sent me an extra one. So I installed the first booster and the phone service was good for about 2 months. The booster then started showing one blinking green, 2 solid green and 1 amber like and the service was one bar or not at all. Then I installed the second booster thinking something may have gone wrong with the first one. It worked good - all green for about one month and then the same blinking green, 2 solids and 1 amber came up again. Again no service. I tried calling T-Mobile and finally got transferred to a IT rep. He told me there was nothing they could do for me until they built another tower. IT MAKES NO SENSE! Why could Sprint give me a booster that worked great but T-Mobile can't. I am so frustrated.

On Black Friday 2022. I was given a manager approved deal for $800 off the new Samsung 22. When I did not receive it, I notified them about it. Customer service gave me $400 then told me I had to get the rest from the manager (Alexandro, 3550 S General Bruce Dr Suite 100, Temple, TX *******) who approved the deal. Well, he admitted his wrong at our initial meeting and stated the problem would be fixed, and that he would contact me. However; he tried to ghost me. When I finally got in touch with him he stated, he literality reverse everything that he had initially told me, and said that he couldn't do anything about it and stated that I should be happy with what the $400 dollars I received. I called customer service and told them exactly what he told me. They told me that they would contact him and then contact me within seven days. Its be almost too months. They all are liars. I was conned out of paying $400 extra dollars more for this phone, which I would have never paid for had they had been honest when they sold it to me. They keep saying that there was a promotional deal to get $800 dollars off the phone with an additional line, but that is a lie. In the initial call about the problem the customer service women admitted that she checked and there was no promotion of that kind on BF-2022.But now, she saying that there was a promotion. She lied too. They can't produce any proof that so called "promotion" existed at that time. Liars.

We have been loyal T-Mobile customers and actually referred 5 friends to switch. We called to ask why T-Mobile gave such generous benefits to new customers but didn't extend the same courtesy to existing patrons. We were told that if we upgraded from Magenta to Magenta +, they had a current promotion that would give us up to $1000 trade-in on our existing phone. We immediately upgraded and when we asked to select new phone models, we were told, 'No, you have to wait until Dec 12th to buy the phones'. I called back on Dec 12th and were told the phone offer had expired even though our plan had been upgraded from the date of the initial inquiry. We decided to go into a store and get an explanation. T-Mobile records all conversations so there was a trail of our interaction and even though they saw we (in good faith) upgraded within the offer dates, they would NOT honor the promotion. They said their customer service rep made a mistake but they refused to do anything for us, incredibly dishonest. Clearly they feel no loyalty.

Ironically, this is the text sent to us from T-Mobile after we were told the phone promotion was over …

Thank you for contacting T-Mobile. This message is a summary of our conversation. Thank you for allowing me to assist you today! Please rest assured that I addressed all the concerns you shared with me. Thanks for being a part of T-Mobile, America's leader in 5G coverage. - *******@T-Mobile It was my pleasure to assist you.

Very unhappy with this tmobile/Sprint merger. I'm a sprint customer that got a galaxy tab a tablet from sprint 2 1/2 yrs ago for free to open a new line on a promotion deal. Love this tablet but since tmobile took over my tablet is not 5g compatible so it does not work very well anymore. It has 64gb memory. Half of the galaxy tablets that tmobile has is only 32gb and the only one they offer for free is the a7 lite which is only 32gb and much smaller. It's not my fault these 2 companies merged but tmobile could care less and they want me to BUY the $669 s7 tablet which is compatible with what I have. They won't even consider giving it to me at half price or anything. So I'm stuck. I either buy a new one at whole price or I keep paying $28 a month for tablet service that barely works with my tablet and reminds me of dial up internet. Shame on you tmobile for treating people especially new customers badly this way. I'm not someone who buys new technology every year to stay with the new fad but I am an older lady that is on social security and just likes to play games. This is why I switched from att to sprint because they didn't care either. Sprint why did you go

Been a customer for 12 years, they extend an offer to us for $105 (4 phones included). We were paying $120. They told us they were able to give us this rate and appreciated us being a customer for 12 years. We just had to cancel other line. Well, we've been given the run around the last month and half. They told us 2x that the issue was resolved and we'd see the changed reflected in our bill a couple weeks later. Bill ended up being $230 a month. Nothing changed. We've been given the round around about 10x with the customer service people. Now that we do not want this deal and are going to return phones, and frankly are going to go somewhere else if this matter isn't resolved, they say it is past the 20 day grace period. If they didn't give us the run around, it wouldn't have been. Now they sent us to collections as the matter is trying to get resolved. We asked them to review all recordings, as they let you know every one is, but somehow cannot locate our conversations? Customer of 12 years and they treat you like trash! Selling my t-mobile stock too.

Was sold an international plan that I was told I would have 5g alongside other benefits for a 3 week long trip I was taking, but once arriving I had 2g and NONE of the other benefits. I spent hours and hours and HOURS trying to get wifi and this was after having already spent 2 hours on phone with reps because they also gave me the wrong bill due date. Spent at least 2 more hours on the phone with reps trying to fix my connection when none of them thought to check my actual plan and the day before I left to go home I was told only by a supervisor (after demanding to speak to one) that I needed a $5.00 "pass" (on top of the 90/monthly international charge) in order to get 5g and all the benefits the sales rep initially told me I'd have. In the end the supervisor did take $30.00 off my bill and assured me when I paid it that that was it and that was the only charge I would have to pay only to find out 2 weeks after I paid that bill that I would be served a $12.81 charge for dates my phone was not even active with them. So on top of all this the bill they told me I had (90.00) was actually $112.81 but they just conveniently left that out.
Go with any other cell phone provider- hell, strap some wires to a a f*%$ing rock and PRAY and you'll still have a better service provider than T-mobile. Never again.

My husband and I switched our phones from T-mobile to AT&T last year and we continued to be charged by T-mobile. I called in November 2022 to make sure that our account was closed and was told that an investigation would be done to look into why the account had not been closed and that we would be contacted regarding the outcome of the investigation. With the craziness of the holidays, I did not think to follow up. We found out that we were still being charged by T-mobile so I called again in February to find out what was going on and was told that an investigation had never been done, and that our account had not been closed. After that conversation, I was told that we would receive some sort of refund and that we would get a final bill that included whatever we owed on the devices that we still had payments on. We got our final bill for like $13 that we assumed had the refund and the final amounts that were due on the decives. After we received the initial final bill, we received 2 more additional final bills. When I called yet again, I was told that no refund would be issued, that the charges were valid, and the 2 additional charges we got after the initial final bill had been sent, they made "adjustments" that resulted in the additional charges. I could not get a straight answer from them as to why the final bill we initially received was not correct. I understand why my friends and family members left T-mobile and just reaffirmed when we left.

I canceled my account with T-Mobile over a month ago. Recently got charged again by T-Mobile due to an active line on the account I was gifted but never used... so I called customer service. They said they could not access my account without a pin/acct #, but did confirm that the account said "closed" on it. We got charged again... My wife went into a T-Mobile store to see what was going on and they explained the extra line was still active, but since she was not the owner of the account, I just needed to call in and request that it be fully closed. So I called again... same thing... no pin/account # so they can't verify my account. They could also not send a temp pin to my phone number because that number is now with my new provider. I offered my birthday/email/all phone numbers on the account/SSN... but no they could not cancel the live number. The manager I spoke with went by "Kath" whom put no effort into rectifying the situation outside of asking me to guess the pin number I set years ago. Worst customer service experience of my life. This place needs help.

So I upgraded my phone about a month ago and all of my text messages were not successfully transferred over to my new phone. I called Sprint/T-Mobile on 08/06 and placed a formal request for the texts since I am in need of it. I was told, I will get a copy of the texts within 72 hours via email. I even got a phone call back the same day, from a rep stating that the information was successfully retrieved, and I will get an email within 72 hours with the needed info. Fast forward to 09/10, and still no email. I called again and was told that the information will be emailed. Fast forward to the 12th, still nothing. I called again and asked to speak to a manager this time, and here it is, (he) the Manager says to me, madam the information can't be retrieve and there is not possible way to retrieve it. He said they don't monitor text messages word for word. Ha! What a joke. T-Mobile not only wasted my valuable time, but 5 out of the 6 rep I spoke to LIED to me. Not happy. On top of that, their services sucks and it's getting worst by the day. DISSAPPOINTED
