T-Mobile has a rating of 1.2 stars from 1,938 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers complaining about T-Mobile most frequently mention customer service, new phone, and sim card problems. T-Mobile ranks 240th among Mobile Phones sites.
I've had T-Mobile for 5+ years now and I've found that while mistakes are sometimes made, (usually during ill-advised store visits) their phone based customer service is very good at making up for it. Any time I have called them with an issue they have been very quick to correct it and to give me some kind of compensation or perk to make up for the loss. While the website has had a few issues in the past with user-friendliness, they have made regular improvements over the years that help immensely. If you demand perfection constantly, not the carrier for you, but if you have a tiny bit of patience, they do come through in the long run.
Phones are junk and they then charge you to restock their junk. In store makes a sale and then cant help you with anything and believe me...you WILL have problems. Customer service? Our entire family had TM phones and now are completely disgusted with the "service". Plan on spending hours on the phone as you get put on hold, swapped around, cut off over and over again, and get told something different with every call. Have had constant glitches with the GPS, volume, camera lens etc etc etc. They used to be worth the extra money every month but NO good reasons to stay with them anymore. Steer clear.
In the last two weeks, I have been in both Tmobile store in Des Moines. I have never seen people work so hard not to work. The first day, the guy told me 10 minutes and an hour later when a new shift came on someone helped me. That day, I watched a female employee sit and stare at a customer's phone for 45 minutes. She never did anything just stared. A few days later, I was at the Mills Civic store. All 3 of the employees actively were not helping. One guy was new and had no idea. The people he was working with went and got something to eat at one point so he could figure it out. Another employee chatted up a couple about their vacation for a half an hour. All this while the floor manager ran his finger across his tablet randomly while supposedly helping a spanish speaking family. We could see the tablet. He wasn't doing anything on it. Tonight, I was trying to set up internet. The woman screamed in my ear for a co worker, informed me they couldn't figure out my address even though I had given it to her 3 times. We are existing customers. You would think that it wouldn't be so hard to spend more money with them.

I won a free tablet( ha) at a fair. Nothing is free was told I had to sign up for discounted service for 12 months immediately I did what a foolish thing to do, don't do it. When my first bill arrive I did receive the discount but they changed the terms to 24 months ( the first lie). When attempting to set up the pad it didn't work was told by the representative at one of the stores to bad we don't guarantee giveaways and more that 14 days had past ( it had been 19 days before I attempted set up) so much for there service. So I've paid for 18 months for service that I've never received and at my fault I let payment go overdue and they canceled the service that I never received and now have to pay for the free tablet or be taken to collections. MY ADVICE IS STAY AWAY FROM T-MOBILE

Auto-Withdrawal Pulled $490!
My fiance became a customer in December 2020, and by the end of January 2021, he moved out in order to do a complete home remodel.
He paid for 4 months of service even though no internet was used. (Approximately $200+)
Once he moved back in, the less-than-6-month old router wouldn't connect for service. We contacted customer service, and the agent sent us a new router immediately.
I asked what to do with the other router, but since it was defective, she didn't think it would need to be sent back... BUT... watch for an email just in case.
Nearly 2 months passed (no email), so the router was discarded (by us).
The only email we received was to tell us we were going to get charged $490 for not returning the old equipment.
(It gets worse.)
I'm on my THIRD phone call to T-Mobile to find resolution. (Mind you, these take approximately 2 hours each.)
Long story short, they were going to pause the auto-withdrawal of $490 so they could review the audio recordings of the phone calls and then call me within 7 days to let me know of their findings.
Anyway, they haven't done ANYTHING they have promised, and on top of that, pulled the $490 payment from our checking account the DAY BEFORE we leave for Mexico, so...
I feel I should not only get the $490 equipment fee refunded, but now after all of this, the $225 we paid in order to "do the right thing" during the home remodel.

We've had T-Mobile as our cell phone carrier for 8 years. The path was fair to good, but never excellent. Myself and my son switched over to Verizon, but my daughter stayed with T-Mobile and has never regretted it more than today.
Long story short, she purchased a new phone in Jan at which time she handed over her old phone. Now, four months later T-Mobile said that she never turned in the old phone which is normal when you get a new phone right? But no, T-Mobile claims they never received it. We do share part of the blame though. Our fault is that we didn't read the paperwork we received when the new phone was purchased; in short the paperwork didn't state that we turned the phone over to T-Mobile. So even though the employee at the store graciously took the old phone and handed us the new one, he didn't record it in their system.
The result is that we now have to pay $170 for the old phone in addition to the new phone and the service. The representative at the Longmont, CO T-Mobile store was not willing to credit our bill, so T-Mobile is willing to lose a long-standing customer over $170. Nice huh? My only true regret is staying with them so long.
On a side note, the only one in our family who ever loses signal is my daughter the T-Mobile customer, while my son and I have never had signal issues with Verizon. So these two reasons are why T-Mobile is losing our business.

Called to find out more about a promotion that was described to me as Any Phone Any Time. I was told all I had to do is mail or bring into store to trade any working phone. I also wanted a tablet which I was informed required an extra line. I was in the process of ordering when I was told there would be tax (on the original price) plus activation. Instead of free it was going to cost almost $300. I told the service person that was too much. I said " So there will be no charges and all transactions would be cancelled. I received emails that billed me so I was blatantly lied to. I was explicit about the order being cancelled completely and all charges would be void. Seemed like a nice lady but told me out and out lies. I'll find another carrier but will also seek to let as many consumer protection agencies as well as legal action. I don't like being lied to and as I'm a senior citizen I explain, need I couldn't afford it. Again, to summarize I implicitly asked that all plans and any potential orders stemming from the phone call would not result in any charges only to received bills for the plans. I was told I would not be but received notice all the portions discussed would not result in charges. How bad can a carrier be? 1.65 rating from 1800 reviews and ranked 205th. I have a photo of can't send it now due "trading" in a 10 yr old LG phone.

I was switching from Verizon to T-Mobile very simple supposed to be just pop out the Sim card from frozen and pop ours in. Well, it wasn't that easy first they misspelled my last name second I specifically said do not change my number will you charge me to keep my Verizon number? They says no no problem. I get the Sim card in the mail. I put it in. It says welcome to T-Mobile. Your new number is I spent two hours yesterday and three hours this morning trying to fix their mess. At this point I call them and I tell them do you know what you flunked this was a test and you failed. Delete my information cancel my order I'm going to stay with Verizon. I just threw your Sim card in the trash and I better not get a bill Just because one person didn't do their job properly. You would not believe the hell I just had to go through to get everything fixed because removing my Verizon card and put T-Mobile in there and my Verizon card back in there caused a slow ball of chaos for me and I don't handle stress well, then I have to speak with someone on the other end of the phone they speak in broken English. I can't understand a damn thing she says T-Mobile if I could give you -5 stars I would because you guys get filled and you cause me to stress out not last night but all morning trying to fix your mistakes, so take your T-Mobile account and shove it.

The worst service I've ever had! Does not work in my house!, doesn't work on the road! Doesn't work in the T-mobile store! Do not get use Verizon or any other service provider!

I know T-Mobile is thought of a bit as the ugly step-child of the mobile industry (not sure if that will be helped with an AT&T acquisition?) but I've been using them for the last 5 years, and it has been pretty good. I've had two phones which they have completely paid for through contracts (a Blackberry 8700 and a Android G2), and I pay $89/month for unlimited data, calling and texts (taxes and fee included). I use it for work, so the unlimited plan is valuable. If I had gone with Verizon or one of the other carriers it would have been a lot more expensive (I want to say Verizon or Sprint quoted me $120ish for a similar plan?). When I threatened to leave T-Mobile on Cyber Monday in 2010, they were kind enough to offer me the G2 for free if I stayed with a 2 year contract (it was a $200 phone *with* the contract at the time). T-Mobile's customer service is OK. Nothing to write home about but net net, it has been a good experience, and I think I've saved a lot of money with them compared with the other major US carriers.

Tmobile will never tell you the truth. They will over bill you. You will not get any customer service watsoever. Buyers beware. You will be sorry if you sign a contract with them.

Customer Service is the worst I have ever experienced!
I signed up online because I get poor signal strength with the carrier I currently use. The tech sent me two SIM cards and gave me instructions on what to do when I received them. He stated that T-Mobile's service would give me better signal strength. It did not and his instructions did not work. Everyone I called at T-Mobile after that gave me different instructions that didn't work or told me I had to provide them with information I did not have. Half the time, I couldn't understand the T-Mobile agent due to either poor English or low quality headsets that they were using. I finally got disgusted and told them to cancel my account. I have been trying for over a week to get my account cancelled so that T-Mobile does NOT bill me as I saved money if I signed up for autopay. Their own phone system is a mess... static and garbled voices at their end and disconnects every time they try to transfer me to some other department they say would help me.
I have finally given up trying to get the account cancelled and will put a freeze on my credit card so that they cannot charge me. I'm hoping that will get their attention at the end of the month.
Tip for consumers:
Their online customer service is terrible so, if you really want T-Mobile, I would suggest going to a store and having one of the store people set you up.

Heaven forbid you are human and make a mistake selecting a pre-paid plan. Even if you call in minutes after the mistake T-Mobile WILL NOT fix the error. To add to it, it was for a hot spot and for 50GB unlimited data plan for $50 and I accidently selected a voice, text and data plan for $50 that would not provide data to my hot spot. For $20 more they provided me with 18GB instead of 50GB and cannot help if I run out of data before my month ends.

I ordered two phones and two new lines of service from T Mobile over the phone. I paid them 115.00 plus some change at the time. The phones were supposed to arrive in 2 business days. That would have been on Friday but there was no attempt to deliver anything to my address. I called the company, gave them my 6 digit pin number and was told there was a delay and my phone's would arrive on Monday. I also got the representative to email me my order number, tracking number and phone numbers since she couldn't text me the information because I didn't have a phone with TMobile. On Monday again there was no delivery so I checked the tracking number and the phones were being returned to 4he company. I called the company again abd was told the 6 digit pin I gave them was incorrect and they could not access my information. The exact same pin I used on Friday was now not valid. They told me my only alternative was to go into the store and have the clerk at the store contact customer support and they would then be able to access my account. So I drove the 30 miles to the store on Wednesday and after a very long time with customer support I was told that all I could do was cancel the order and get a refund. I was originally told the refund would come in 3 to 5 business days but after the 5th day I called and was told it would be 7 to 10 business days. Well now we are beyond 10 business days and I still don't have a refund and no phones or phone service because my phone money is tied up somewhere else. How can I get my money back?

I have been with T-Mobile for over 15 years, and been happy with them. But last month while in the store, I was talked into taking a great promotion where they would give me $800 for my current phone and I could get an ungraded phone for $800... so... it would be free for me! I didn't really need a new phone but decided to take the upgrade since it was free. I repeatedly asked the associate why they would be doing a "free" promotion and she convinced me that I qualified for it... I would just need to send in my old phone to complete it. Well fast forward 6 weeks... already sent in my old phone... well over 8 phone calls to T-Mobile, hours on the phone, wasted time waiting for the store manager or customer service to call back... and they say I am not ELIGBLE for the promotion. That I don't have the right rate plan. They refuse to honor what I was promised. I am so frustrated with T-Mobile, and cant wait till we can cancel our 7 lines with them. It is not my fault that the store associate messed up... she told me I qualified, so I did took the promotion. Shame on T-Mobile for not standing behind what they promised. We will take our 7 lines to a company that can be trusted!

The T-Mobile sales reps when you call in to order devices lie and mislead you to get a sale. They directly lie about the accessories, capabilities, and facts about their devices, upgrades, deals, and service packages just to get you into a sale or contract. When you call back in to verify or ask questions, the new rep is all apologetic, confused, and doesn't know why the previous rep would do such a thing. I have had this happen to me on numerous occasions and in the same manner. I called in and asked what current promotions you have and what am I qualified for under my plan? I repeatedly asked the rep several questions about the transaction and he deliberately lied about the product, the upgrade, and the transaction involved with my trade-in. After pointing this all out, since I know the call was recorded, the supervisor I was speaking with said there's nothing that could be done and they refused to honor what I was told even though he had the power to do so. I was purchasing a phone that was $1900 (Galaxy Z Fold 3) and a $350 (Samsung Watch 4) watch. I was trading in a phone that was supposed to get an $800 (Samsung Galaxy Note 9) credit towards the phone. I have been a customer with T-Mobile for 15+ years and the customer service has gone completely down. I have been on the phone with them for countless hours because of overbilling and hidden charges on my account. I was just given a $430+ dollar credit on my account for this very reason. I simply asked the supervisor to make this right and he had no resolve for me so I am returning all the equipment and demanding my money back.

Do not let the reps sale you anything if it's not in writing or the writing doesn't match what he/she said.

I use Tmobile service and I'm lucky if it works it's always a gamble! They gave me a $15 credit on my account because it didn't work for the month of June so I paid my account on June 30th minus my $15 discount and on July 3rd I received a text saying my service was suspended. I also had a manager call me saying he cared so much about the fact that my service wasn't working properly and he was going to "look into it" and that was on June 30th and guess what my service was still suspended. So I had to call once again and stay on the phone for 1 hour like I do several times in June getting answers as I'm now restoring my service because of the "discount" they gave me. This is the most RIDICULOUS company with no structure or consistency.

I had to cancel that account open new one transfer all my numbers to the new account. They didn't tell me anything about the T-Mobile signal booster. After 5 months I received the bill. For $293.91. If I call the customer service they Email UPS labels I shipped The signal booster on 4-24-2023. Call them and gave them the tracking number. Called again? After. A? Week. Called again after 1 weeks. They told me that as soon as it hits the warehouse the charges will be cleared. They promised me that they won't charge me cause they put a note on the account. On May 23rd they charged my bank $293.91 Call the customer service. They promised that they will give me a refund within 72 hours. Waited. One week called them back they escalated my issue and they said you will get your money within 24 hours. Call back after 5 days. They told me sorry you returned the device late because your account is closed. We can't give you money back. What a rip off They just robbed me for that money. Even though I'm still their customer?
