I wear a size 18W in clothes. It's certainly not small, but definitely not huge. Yet, when I go to purchase an item online from Talbot's, I have to pay $10 more than a misses size for the exact same item. C'mon, you mean to tell me that y'all used $10 more fabric on a $99 skirt?! Who in good conscience even does that?! Shameful. If you wear plus sizes clothes and you buy from this company, just know you are contributing to their ridiculous pricing policies that actively gauge you and discriminate based on your size.
I like the products BUT Canadian shoppers, don't order online! On a $123 US (about $170 CDN) order, I paid $63 in duties and taxes. And didn't know until the shipping company called me to pay before they would deliver. They do not have a warehouse in Canada that orders ship from. Will not do that again. Too bad in this Covid 19 situation.
Very upsetting experience. I am based in Canada and when I signed in for the Talbot membership in one of the Canadian Talbots store, I started getting a newsletter advising me of sales. I ordered a $50 dress online and paid another $15 for shipping... only to then have an additional $19 in "custom fees" to FedEx given that the item was shipped out of the US (something that was never mentioned to me). So a total of $84 for a denim dress! FedEx kept changing the delivery date and location moreover. And when I called the Talbots Customer Service, they could not do anything (not even provide me with a voucher) except a refund if I was to return the dress. I will never purchase anything from Talbots ever
I was a bit disappointed by the color options for apparel in the recent fall catalog I received in the mail.
I've been a Talbots customer for many years.decades. I am a size 2, fair skinned with blond/gray hair. Talbots has always been a consistent option for me, even though I am now retired, and I am mostly interested in the casual clothing line.
The colors of this season definitely reflect fall… not the most flattering to fair skin blond types. There was not one model in the catalog with gray hair. Photos with dark haired models out numbered the fair-haired by 3 to1.
I am not commenting from a fashion perspective…not a political perspective…. But when you're blonde, or blond/gray….many of the cooler colors are not flattering.
I was also a bit appalled, that there was no representation of the older Talbot customer in this catalog. I understand utilizing a marketing approach that will appeal to a broader and younger customer base, but this was a bit blatant…. Especially considering the fact that…
In my local Talbots, most of the sales staff are older, and very knowledgeable about dressing women my age. Do you want to phase out your older, longtime loyal customers, I hope not.
I have ordered from Talbots for years: loved their quality, style and could rely on the sizing. Not so anymore, Quality is questionable? 100% cotton? Doubtful? And the cut and sizing are all different. I am petite and before I wore a size 6. Now even a 4 is too big. I did notice that the clothes are made in Indonesia so that probably answers alot of questions. Still high prices though.
I have shopped at Talbots's for years and have spent a decent amount of money there over the years, including this year. The sales associates are plain rude when you are making returns though. Today I went in the Dewitt, NY store and when the sales associate saw I had a return, she did not saw hello, had a dirty look on her face, and did not talk to me the entire time or make eye contact. Their all happy and helpful when you're buying something but rude and unprofessional when returns are made.
I placed an order with Talbots and returned two items that did not fit properly and I returned them within the return time frame in their return policy. They told me they were not returned in time and gave a store credit for $120 less than I had paid. Not only that, but I sent back another order for $78 and they returned only $60 explaining that they charged me $18 for return postage. For a envelope containing a thin cashmere sweater? There is no way postage cost $18 for a package weighing less than a pound and my return to them was in my home state so they ripped me off for postage, too. While it used to be that you could find quality in Talbots, the quality of their clothes now is terrible - lightweight cashmere you can see through, scratchy synthetics, old styles that are not trendy, shoes with a ridiculous mark up that you can find on Amazon or Zappo for less. I will claim my store credit then I'm done with them after 30 years of shopping there. Good riddance.
Talbots issues its credit card through Comenity Bank which has horrible reviews all over the internet. I was a few days late (for the first time) on a $44.00 bill and was charged a late fee of $25.00 + $1.00 interest.
Have cancelled my credit card with them
I've been waiting two weeks for my delivery! They choose the cheapest method of Fed Ex delivery and it sits for days in a Fed Ex trailer to be picked up, gets to one area, and sits for another 5 days. When I call they say a "delay". Their merchandise is overpriced and not the same quality as it used to be. Very disappointing!
I tried to order a few things from the recent catalog. Customer service was just horrible, the women did not speak English very well also there was very loud talking in the back round. I did not feel comfortable giving my information to her. I guess I could do with out the clothing.
Products are wonderful. However, their service is only one star out of 5. One shoe I ordered runs so small I returned it, however, they never refunded or tracked this refund package. I liked the product quality so much, i went against my better judgment and ordered again. They send the wrong size and now I can not get ahold of anyone. Lost my business.
What happened to the designers? The brand used to have classic, timeless, classy clothes that fit multiple body types and ages. Now everything looks cheap and tacky.
Bring back the former designers who understood women and their bodies.
I bought $1000 plus worth of clothing this Spring. A summer sweater and a t shirt fell apart after one wearing... holes in the shoulder(not the seam, the fabric) on both and an additional hole right in front in the sweater. This happened on the first wash. I know how to do laundry, it was the fabric. I'm sure its recycled or something as there are tears in the weave of the knit. I have one linen sweater and another tshirt with the scalloped neck that I am afraid to wear. I also bought a pair of jeans and both pockets are now worn out completely on the seam of the pockets... both sides so not from putting a hand in the pocket. So Talbots has problems with their fabric supply. Have shopped their since 1990...$4000/year, now will not again.
I am furious.
Cheap flimsy fabric
I bought this from Talbot's on line and it arrived much different that I had hoped. It was thin and flimsy with pulls in the fabric. I returned it immediately and it took Talbot's 2 weeks to find the return and then they only refunded a small portion of the payment. MY MONEY IS NOT SAFE HERE They gave me $24.00 instead of $40.99. Never again
I work from 10 to 6 and the store closes at 5pm. Why do the hours stink? It is Christmas and they still close at 5pm. HUH~ The store by closed all weekend too? I am frustrated with my shopping experience there this season. I feel the company does not adjust for people who work.
Do NOT trust their shipping dates! Terrible service. They send items when they feel like it. Definitely do not pay for expedited service. No one on their customer service line knows anything. Lots of excuses. I shop online frequently and I have never had such terrible service as I have had from Talbots.com.
I had a pay $10.75 shipping fee for 1 item delivered from the same state (Ohio)!, even that my shipping fee online was free. Upon calling customer service, I was informed that the shipping fee needed to be contested with the post office. WoW WoW. I could not believe what I heard. The compony needs to work a little harder and not ask their customer to do their job. Obviously NEVER will I order anything online anymore from them.
My last several visits to talbots have been very disappointing. They look like Alfred Dunner clothes, very old lady. What happened to their beautiful tweed jackets they had every year? What about the high quality sweaters? This year for winter they carried a tee shirt with a car and Christmas tree on top? How about a puppy in a stocking? And jeggings? I'm over sixty. That's not going to happen.
I've been a Talbots credit card holder for more than 30 years. Yes, I agree with the other reviews about the quality of the garmets, but I do believe this sadly seems to be happening across the industry. My gripe is that I misplaced my credit card. I called to have it replaced.
I was late on my payment that month, and they cancelled my credit card. I could probably count on one hand the times I have been late over many years, and I was always hit with a late fee- understandable. But to cancel the card was a slap in the face for a long time, loyal customer. So, since Talbots no longer handles their own accounts, you are a bank customer, not a Talbots' customer.
I'm deeply sadden by Talbot's and their merchandise. I started shopping there back in 2010. I loved the clothes they were very couture looking. Quality was amazing and prices were excellent. Linda Evangelista modeled for Talbot's the clothes were stunning. Now their offering cheap sweaters and tshirts things that are very old looking and have a discount store look. I still have the red suit Linda Evangelista modeled I love it and still get compliments on it. People are always asking where I got it from. I hope they come back again but until they do, I'm afraid I'm done with Talbot's.
Answer: China, where everything else is made these days. I don't think many, if any, of their products are made in the USA.
Answer: They are sneaky. Waited over a month for a jacket, returned it and a month later I asked where is my credit. They said they received and put a credit in my account (not what I wanted as I purchased jacket elsewhere) but never notified me they received and I have a credit. In other words, they just keep unsuspecting customers' money and never tell you. I will never shop there again (except to use my credit if I can't get them to credit my card hahaha)
Answer: I have never had an issue with exchanges. I have never requested a refund.
Answer: The quality of the clothes going back about 10-15 years ago was EXCELLENT. I still have shorts purchased then but they are now showing their age. Purchased similar over the last get years and while they are still $60 the quality is on par with perhaps Walmart
Answer: They are easy to reach and cooperative. They are responsive to customer's needs
Answer: They are a legitimate company and have been in business for many years
